Thanking u,
namala.

Hi,
thanks for the reply,i did the application,i have attached a

• Using Repeater to generate dynamic line charts

I have a call to a webservice that returns an array of
arrays. The outside array relates to the "YEAR", and the inside
arrays have 1 element for each "MONTH". I want to create a line
chart that has a line for each year, with the x-axis having months
across the bottom.
I can create this just fine by coding the appropriate number
of mx:LineSeries tags in my code.
However, I have a case where the data that I get back from
the webservice could have up to 5 years (I'm only coding for 3).
So, I'd like to find a way to dynamically generate an mx:LineSeries
instance for each one of these years. I can't seem to get this to
work with using a Repeater.
This code isn't mine (got it from the docs), but it matches
with what i'm trying to do exactly:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script><![CDATA[
import mx.charts.events.ChartItemEvent;
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
[Bindable]
public var expenses_2005:ArrayCollection = new
ArrayCollection([
{Year: 2005, Expense: "Taxes", Amount: 2000},
{Year: 2005, Expense: "Gas", Amount: 100},
{Year: 2005, Expense: "Food", Amount: 200}
[Bindable]
public var expenses_2006:ArrayCollection = new
ArrayCollection([
{Year: 2006, Expense: "Taxes", Amount: 2500},
{Year: 2006, Expense: "Gas", Amount: 400},
{Year: 2006, Expense: "Food", Amount: 300}
[Bindable]
public var expenses:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([
expenses_2005,
expenses_2006
]]></mx:Script>
<mx:LineChart dataProvider="{expenses}"
showDataTips="true">
<mx:horizontalAxis>
<mx:CategoryAxis dataProvider="{expenses.getItemAt(0)}"
categoryField="Expense" title="Expense"/>
</mx:horizontalAxis>
<mx:verticalAxis>
<mx:LinearAxis displayName="Amount"/>
</mx:verticalAxis>
<mx:series>
<mx:LineSeries xField="Expense" yField="Amount"
displayName="2005" dataProvider="{expenses.getItemAt(0)}"/>
<mx:LineSeries xField="Expense" yField="Amount"
displayName="2006" dataProvider="{expenses.getItemAt(1)}"/>
</mx:series>
</mx:LineChart>
</mx:Application>
How can I now change this to dynamically build the necessary
numbers of LineSeries?

Hi jsevlie,
What I usually do in this case is to create multiple
LineSeries objects in ActionScript as soon as I get in the data.
Here is some code to get you started:
private var theChart:ColumnChart = new ColumnChart;
function drawGraph(){
this.theChart.dataProvider = this.theData;
var ctgAxis:CategoryAxis = new CategoryAxis();
ctgAxis.dataProvider = this.theData;
ctgAxis.categoryField = "0";
this.theChart.horizontalAxis = ctgAxis;
var series:Array = new Array();
for(var i:int=0; i < this.columnSpan; i++){
var colSeries:ColumnSeries = new ColumnSeries();
colSeries.yField = String(i+1);
if(i==0){
colSeries.displayName = "Revenue";
colorSrs(colSeries, 0x3F48F3);
else if(i==1){
colSeries.displayName = "Profit";
colorSrs(colSeries, 0xE9C836);
else{
colSeries.displayName = "Cost";
colorSrs(colSeries, 0x6FB35F);
series
= colSeries;
this.theChart.series = series;

• How to create dynamic line chart ?

Dynamically create line on that graph.if select more than one values from multi select box , it will get id and execute query , draw the one more line on that graph.
For example:
oracle
mysql
sybase
SQL server
These are values in multiselect box.
Now open the page with default value and show one line on the graph.Now i am going select another one values on multi select box.
dynamically create another line on the same graph.
How to do this graph ?

In any case, why don't you ask them, then? They should have some sort idea about it, I would think.

• How to dynamically add new line series to the line chart in flex?

i need to add line series dynamically..and each line series should have a different data provider...

A chart can have only 1 dataProvider which in my case is an ArrayCollection.
The chart will update every time the dataProvider changes if you use binding.
So you have to write a function that periodically populates the ArrayCollection with data from the server and the chart will update automatically.

IWDNodeInfo nodeinfo = wdContext.nodeNodeTestData().getNodeInfo();// Node should be map to the view's Node

• Dynamic change color of series in line chart

Hi
I would like to be able to dynamically change the color of the individual series in a line chart, based on user preference. It works excellent having dynamic labels on the series using the &item. syntax and a before header computation.
The same approach for the color does not seem to work. I get errors like undefined entity....
Any ideas?
Best regards Jesper

Very surprisingly the following code (also generated by the macro recording) works ok.
(I selected the serie inside the chart instead of selecting the serie in the legend)
ActiveChart.FullSeriesCollection(1).Select
With Selection.Format.Fill
.Visible = msoTrue
.ForeColor.ObjectThemeColor = msoThemeColorAccent3
.ForeColor.TintAndShade = 0
.ForeColor.Brightness = -0.25
.Transparency = 0.3000000119
.Solid
End With
If an MVP or Microsoft official come accross this, I suggest further testing as it is very likely a bug (with the first set of code generated by Excel)

• Crystal Reports - Change Line Chart Color Dynamically

Hello,
I have Crystal report 14.
I'm trying to create a line chart and need to be able to set the colors of the lines at the time the report is run. The colors the lines need to be are specified in a database and a different color could be specified each time the report is run.
Can anybody suggest how I would do this?
Thanks

I've tried to use 'Color Highlight' to change the color of the lines, but it only changed the colors of the markers on the line, not the actual line itself. Is there a way to get it to change the color of the line?
I may have one line I need to display as 1 color, and a 2nd that I need to display as another. Using color highlight changed the markers for both lines to the same color. Is there a way to specify which line I want to change the color of in "Color Highlight"?
Thanks.

• Dynamic X axis in line chart

Hi All,
I'm making a line chart in Webi in which different lines represent different products. On the Y axis I have a measure (no problems here) and on the X axis I have months. Naturally, different products enter the chart at different points along the X axis because they didn't all enter the portfolio at the same time as you can see in the print screen. My problem is though, that I want the start point for all of the lines in the chart to be at the X-Y intersect, not the month that they actually started. The values for the X axis should then be 1 - 24 or something similar to cover a 2 year period. Newer products would then have a line that stopped at some point in the middle of the chart, rather than one that started in the middle.
I've been trying to create a new variable where min([Month]) is equal to 1 and then each month after that would be +1, but I'm not having any luck.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your tip. I've created a new variable to calculate the months between the very first date and the product specific dates, and then subtracted the difference so that all products start at the same date in the new variable. But it still leaves me with the same problem as I had with the count variable earlier. When I place the new variable on the chart it returns a multivalue error. Any idea on how I could get around this? In table format it looks like this:
Table 1 with original month and new variable
Table 2 with only new variable
Table 3 desired outcome

• How to adjust x axis of line chart for dynamic values from universe

Dear All,
I am new to SAP Dashboard. I got one requirment that, user will pass single value to universe using prompt in Dashboard. Based on that prompt value / input parameter, universe will deliver data to plot line chart in my canvas. But, on every request i will get different count from universe. Like for request A = 30 records, request B = 56 records, request C = 2 records and so on.
Based on the count, i want to display line chart in my canvas which will auto fit the screen. (Auto adjustment of X axis e.g For A, last record on x axis should be 30, for B = 56 and for C =2). Please let me know, how can i achive this task?.
Note : i know, how to plot simple line chat with fix count.

This is based on the output you get for the selection, get in touch with the functional team and get an idea about maximum no of result set will appear on various selection options. Say example if the functional guy says around 100 then go ahead and map 100 cells for the series.
Then as arijit said you can use the ignore blank cell option to eliminate the blank rows in the selection.
Note: Eliminating blank cells will always work at the end of the rows, not in the middle of the rows.

• JavaFX Update Line Chart on Tab pane

Hi all,
I am wondering can anybody help with this problem.
I have an application that can create a new tab when the LineChart FXML view is called by way of onMouseClicked event from a bar graph (using scenebuilder). However, I need this Line chart to update when the user clicks a new bar on the bar graph page to show this new data.
Initially the Line chart tab will open and display data from the first bar graph click and when I click another bar in Tab A (bar chart) if it has the same number of rows it will refresh the LineChart tab otherwise I get an error. Then if I try to load another line graph tab using a different bar graph as the source I get a child duplication error
(So tab A has a bar graph that calls tab B to represent data as a line graph, however it wont do it more then once when there is a different number of points to show)
(Also tab C, another Bar chart will not load a new tab) Exceptions below & Class detail below.
I am using clear() to empty the observable list I have which is used to populate the graph and table before it reads in the new data values
What is the proper way/ best way to dynamically add another tab and update the chart in the tab with new values? Any help would be appreciated.
I am getting the following exceptions:

Hi all,
I am wondering can anybody help with this problem.

• How not to see values of a serie in a 2D line chart

Hello,
I have 3 series in a 2d line chart. There are two series which are the thresholds and one serie for the averages. Thresholds are fix/stable numbers which correspond to straight lines, however the averages as you can image dynamic and changing. What I want is to see the values of averages but not the values of the straight lines. I cannot find a spesific option for the series, I can always show/hide values which does not work for me.
Thank you from now.

Hi mertov,
You can find anychart's documentation in their website. The document that shows and explains all the XML tags anychart uses is the XML reference.
Best regards,
Sergio

• Diagonal line on SSRS line chart

Hi all,
I'm struggling with a charting issue that I was hoping someone here might be able to help with - I've looked through various blogs without success. I need to insert a diagonal line running the full width of a line chart, representing the linearly increasing
target value over a month. The actual data will then be a secondary series on the same vertical axis, showing progress against the target based on today's data.
This report has several limitations that I should emphasise before someone says "Well, why can't you just generate the target data in the SQL query?". It's for Dynamics CRM Online, so the only type of data source and query allowed is FetchXML.
I can't even use a simple SQL query that returns constant values, let alone an actual SQL DB query. It also doesn't seem to be possible to have any custom code in the report, which makes it even more frustrating. FetchXML is just not set up to do things like
return constant values in a query, or return a dataset which is the set of days in the current month.
What I do have is two datasets, one of which returns the actual data, which I've used as the first series in the table, and a second dataset that returns a single value that represents the target for the month. There's no way, as far as I'm aware, to cross-join
that with a set of dates and then use a calculated field in the dataset to turn it into a linear series.
I've set the min and max values of the X-axis to show me all dates, and my initial solution to the problem was to have a horizontal line at the target value, as shown below (red dotted line). However, I've been asked to change that to the solid red diagonal
line as shown:
Series 1 (Total order value) is the RunningValue of the daily order values, summed across the dates.
Series 1 data looks something like this:
[Date] [Order Value]
1 Mar 100
3 Mar 20
3 Mar 35
24 Mar 400
Series 2 data just has
[Target Name] [Target Value]
Sales Target 25000
Does anyone have ideas on how I can do this? I'm happy to take any suggestions; the line doesn't have to be interactive or be an action, so it could even be rendered directly onto the chart, if that's possible. The only limitation is that it needs to be
viewed on screen, and be printable. I'd prefer some sort of elegant approach that allows me to do it as two series on the same chart, but frankly at this point I'm beyond caring how it's done - so long as it works, it can be held together with chewing gum
and string.

Hi Anuruddha,
When you want to see the diagonal line, you should divide the target value with number of values in x-axis,
let say Month March has 31 days, your target is 25000
then 25000/31=806.4516129032258
But to do dynamic you need to get the number of days in month
=day(DateAdd("d",-1,DateAdd("M",1,cdate(cstr(Month(First(Fields!workday.Value, "DataSet3")) )+"/01/" + cstr(Year(First(Fields!workday.Value, "DataSet3")))))))
Create another series like below shown:-
a Above expression :-
= (Sum(Fields!target.Value, "DataSet2")/ (day(DateAdd("d",-1,DateAdd("M",1,cdate(cstr(Month(First(Fields!workday.Value, "DataSet3")) )+"/01/" + cstr(Year(First(Fields!workday.Value, "DataSet3")))))))))*Fields!id.Value
Run the report:-
Orange Line is yours previously, Red Line is what you want.
I am doing calculation in series, so there is no problem for you as you can't write SQL query.
Below is the RDL code , which will help you to check the expressions.

• SSRS 2008 Line Chart Issue.

We are facing an issue with SSRS 2008 charts. We have a report which shows dynamic number of series on a line chart. The data values may not exist for all series for
the same x axis points. We expected SSRS to connect the missing points as average and have set the empty point option to average.
The issue is that the
1)
lines for interpolated points only appear when we set the color of empty point to say red and not when it is set to automatic. We need the interpolated line in the same auto
colour as the original line as we will have markers for the data points from the DB and no markers for empty points.
2)
The interpolated lines extend backwards in the series also – we expect it to only fill the gaps and not extend backward or forward.
Are these issues known and is there a work around for these issues ? We got your name from one of the SSRS community discussions. Could you please connect us with
the right person if you are not the right contact for this issue ?
I also got following reply from one of the MS guy, it says
Hi Akshay,
The lines should not go backward. I have seen this happen before and I’ll have to double-check on what that occurs. If you
are using a Category Axis, make sure you set the sorting to use a Cdate() expression. I think that might be it ,but I’ll have to double check.
As far as using the auto-coloring on the series when you have empty points like this, I don’t think that’s possible. It would require
a DCR. You may need to implement something along the lines described in this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964128(SQL.90).aspx.
When I tried the suggestions I over come the auto colouring issue and also used CDATE () but lines still extend bacawords. Can anyone suggest what to do it this situation

Hi AKshay_Jadhav,
Firstly, I am not sure who is that MS guy you mentioned without the detail name. Based on my understanding to your issue, I think you could utilize the function
IsNothing in reoprting services to have a check whether the value is null, if it is Null, you should give a average value to this point, if not leave it to be the original value. Of course, you could achieve this in T-SQL. To
the color and marker, we could type in the expression in both feature to control their display effort.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

• CFCHART - Line Chart Questions - CF7

Hi Folks -
I have a few questions about CFCHART in CF 7 and I am hoping
that maybe different users can answer them:
The following questions relate to creating a line chart.
1) Is there a way to control the gridlines yourself, and not
use the values for the lines that CFCHART presents?
1A) If you have to accept the values that CFCHART gives you,
is there a way to control the actual rounding of the values? Right
now I am getting 3 decimal places, and I would prefer whole
numbers.
2) Is there an issue with displaying negative values? I have
a chart that ranges from -255 to 100,000 and has 10 grid lines. But
the -255 does not display. I get 0, the rest of the lines, except
for the 9th line.
<cfchart chartheight="300" chartwidth="450" font="@Arial
Unicode MS" scalefrom="-255" scaleto="100000"
gridlines="10" xaxistitle="Month" yaxistitle="Total"
format="png" labelformat="number">
<cfchartseries type="line" serieslabel="Review">
<cfchartdata item="Jan" value="2569">
<cfchartdata item="Feb" value="65535">
<cfchartdata item="March" value="-57">
<cfchartdata item="April" value="75778">
<cfchartdata item="May" value="89955">
<cfchartdata item="June" value="39898">
<cfchartdata item="July" value="0">
<cfchartdata item="August" value="12560">
<cfchartdata item="Sept" value="-255">
<cfchartdata item="Oct" value="767">
<cfchartdata item="Nov" value="6868">
<cfchartdata item="Dec" value="37352">
</cfchartseries>
</cfchart>
Any and all questions and answers are appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

You can specify scaleFrom and scaleTo by hardoced values or
dynamic variables and number of gridlines. If you not specified
first two attributes, then by default, the minimum is 0 or the
lowest negative chart data value, and the maximum is the largest
data value.
To avoid decimals in your case empirically find good
combination for your scale, for example from - 500 to 10 000 and
number of gridlines = 12.

• Line Chart notdisplaying in X 2008 SP2

Hi, I''ve just upgraded to SP2 and my simple line chart is just not displaying in preview. So far as I can see, the links are right. Are there any obvious reasons why that might happen (yes, I have used Xcelsius for afew years)? Thank you
Jon

Hi Jon
A few thoughts come to mind:
1. Do you have anything tyhat might effect Dynamic Visibility of the chart?
2. Do you have a component which would move blank data intot he chart area upon generating the preview?
3. Can you create a new line chart, link the same bindings - does that preview?
Regards
