Dynamic Named Template ?

Hi,
I have a report in a page which uses a named column template.
select
"DEPTNO",
"DNAME",
"LOC"
from #OWNER#.DEPT
My row template is something like this
<tr><td>#DEPTNO#</td><td>#DNAME#</td></tr>
This works fine and I see this

20
RESEARCH
30
SALES
40
OPERATIONS
I am trying make this dynamic..but failing.
If I create an application level item called F_ROW_TEMPLATE and replace
<tr><td>#DEPTNO#</td><td>#DNAME#</td></tr> with &F_ROW_TEMPLATE.
in the row template.. I see
#DEPTNO##DNAME#
#DEPTNO##DNAME#
#DEPTNO##DNAME#
#DEPTNO##DNAME#
It looks like APEX was able to grab the template but substitution does not happen.
Is there a way to do this ?

This has the appearance of an XY Problem. Please explain what "this" is in terms of the requirements you are trying to fulfil, rather than your attempted solution (which is something I don't think I've seen anyone try to do in 8 years of using APEX).

Correspondingly i have made the entry of the Listener in Web.xml. I am getting the following error ADF FACES 60097.
When i remove the entry everything works fine.

Hi All,
Steps to reproduce the problem..
1) Create adf ViewController application
2) Create a jspx with Oracle Dynamic tab Shell as its template.
3) Under Global toolbar facet...create a <af:Menubar> component and bind it to Managed Bean.
4) Create 2 class variables of Type List and TreeModel. Create the accesors for it.
5) Put the debug point on first class variable.
6) Debug the page...when it hits MenuBar or TreeModel.........Error Message is poping up.

Dynamic Converter Template Type drop down list error

UCM 11g, win xp 64 bit
when I try to check in dynamic converter template (Dynamic Converter Admin -> Check in existing template), the drop down of template types never gets updated with templates types, it just sits on "Loading values...". Any ideas why ? I can edit template types right in the UCM DB, DocMeta table, xTemplateType column, but that doesnt sound like a "clean approach".

ADF 11.1.1.5 - Oracle Dynamic UI Template

I am using Oracle Dynamic UI Template to leverge it's features.
Under the navigation facet i have used tree componet, but i am getting the following error when i tried to debug my VO at the Bolded Point.

I couldn't figure the real problem, but the problem gets solved when i create ADF Fusion application.
The same didn't work when i created a general application and added required components.
May be i am missing somethings.

Disable-output-escaping and named templates

I am trying to combine two parts of Steve book, the "features" example that requires disable-output-escaping because the text in the db contains html, and the titledboxes xsl which is called a s a named template.
Problem is that when I call a template passing the text from the db as a content param the html gets escaped regardless of the output escaping.
I know why but I need to know a workaround that allows me to use templates and lets me keep html embeded in the db column.

This is Bug 1285505, "Disable-Output-Escaping Is Lost When Copying A Text Node" which has been fixed for the 9.0.1 release that will be posted to OTN in about the May timeframe.
In the meantime, the workaround is to build two versions of your titled-box template, one which explicitly does disable-output-escaping when it writes the content to the output, and the other one that's like what you have now.

Naming template problem in Lightroom 4

My file naming template is working differently. It is a template from Lightroom 3 but now it is adding an underscore before the .jpg so it looks like 1234_.jpg. The underscore wasn't there before and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. On the template it says (filename number suffix) and it doesn't show an underscore.

A "space" might have crawled in... and Lightroom is replacing it with an
underscore.

Export presets do not save file naming template

I don't know if this is a bug or a missing feature so I'll post here first, then submit a bug report if necessary. I have done a search first but not found anything relevant.
When you create an Export Preset, LR does not save the File Naming Template you want to use with it, the template is always whichever you used last. Seems a bit odd because you might want to use different filenaming conventions depending on what you are doing with the export, eg. different names for proofs, web galleries, etc.
However, if I am missing something, please me let me know.

That's what I see also but what I meant was that two 'options' down, you can choose what 'File Naming' template to use, eg. Filename, Custom Text (x of y), etc. These don't get saved with your Export Preset, they stay the same as the last one you used. At least on my Windows version.
I don't know how you do enclosures like you did, so I'm linking to the images instead to show you what I mean.
While I was taking screenshots of this I noticed some other peculiar behaviour. It seems that the preset DOES actually save the filenaming template but doesn't show you this. I'll explain as follows:
Here I have a template for full size JPEGs, I invented some custom text and that's why the preset says 'edited'.

Here I have changed the preset but the File Naming template appears to have stayed the same, though it does show a 'preview' (01.jpg).

However, this is odd - I moved the mouse over the custom text box and the words instantly changed to the words I had last used (Castafo is the name of a band). I had not saved the name of the band in the template.

Lastly, I tried another preset and again it appears the template is the same but the 'preview' is correct. Mouseing over did not change any text.

Pretty weird and inconsistent behaviour, don't you think? The software that is, not me - I already know about me(!)
I always keep an eye on the preview anyway so no big deal but do you have any thoughts Ian, or anyone else?

Creation/Defining a new dynamic Timecard Template

Thanks for your answer. The same thing I tried earliar as well. I defined an additional role as CBIH30 for "Customer" with same BP category as of "External Person- CBIH10" .
Above is not solving my purpose, as I am not getting the option of selecting "Customer" in the F4 values of "Person group" on the "Involved" tab of any Incident accident log; t-code CBIH82.
There should be some way to integrate the created BP roles to the Incident / Accident Log in particular, with some definable person group say "D" here to associate with.
To ask my question in another way, how and where person groups(A,B,&C) have been defined and integrated with the relevant BP roles ?
Also, If I am selecting any person with say group "External Person" , would the person records be fetched from SAP HR standard tables, or there would be different table for external group of persons i,e not an employee. Clients may wish to differentiate and hence separately maintain data for employees and any external person. How exactly this can be taken care of?

We are trying to implement Offline adobe forms using guided procedures (Impersonalized forms).
We have no problem while creating the callable object using the normal xdp template. But whenever we try to use Acrobat 7/8 dynamic xml template, the following error occurs and the template is not picked.
"Could not retrieve template fields: Wrong document format or adapter mismatch from adapter"
Cant we use dynamic xml templates for adobe forms in GP? If we can, how to resolve this? Please let me know.

Dynamic Web template not updating

I am using EW4 and have created a dynamic web template. Some of the pages of the site have all of the updates but some don't. I am not changing any of the layout, text or graphics it is just the links. When I preview the pages some of them show all
the links but some show none.
I am on a different computer than the one I created the new pages on.
I have tried to "save all pages"
I have saved the template pages.
I have searched this forum and hit the"recalculate links" button and also "maintain site using hidden meta file" button but it is still not updating.
Any ideas?

My point was that in 99.999999% of the cases (approximately), the problem is user error (or a user-caused problem, such as non-standard workflow), but the first solution people go to is to blame the software and uninstall and re-install it.
And even if, in the very, very, very rare case that an installation is corrupt (when was the last time you had commercial software become corrupted?), simply uninstalling and reinstalling usually doesn't fix the problem, because corrupted files are
left on the hard drive during the uninstall process. They remain there and cause the same problems after reinstall that they caused initially. Without doing a thorough clearing of all old files and Registry entries, the new install is plagued by the same problems.
As Scott has noted, we have had exactly one documented report in this forum in all these years of a reinstall of EW fixing a problem.
Again--the overwhelming majority of problems are caused by people who do not know how to use the program properly and who should be looking inward for the solution rather than outward.

No, this is not possible.
In Dynamic Report templates (which are not based on EVDRE function in version 7 and below), the only thing you can do is to not use any expansion at all and to list your specific accounts on the layout itself. Or to expand your accounts based on a dimension property.
In version 7.5, all Dynamic Templates for Report and Input Schedules will use EVDRE function.

Reports tool of using Dynamic Report Templates or live reporting

Since both of them can be used to create report, what is the main differnece between them? do I have to use the live reporting if I want the report can be access though the web?

You are correct, if you need "real-time" interactive reports on the web then you would develop using live reporting. If you want, you can develop reports using the dynamic report templates in Excel and publish them to the web as PDF or HTML docs, but once they get published to the web the data is static. Note that book publishing of static reports can be scheduled within BPC so that you can regenerate nightly to the web portal if you wanted to.
I would say most people would develop reports using dynamic report templates because Excel gives you more functionality for calculations, formating etc.
Live Reporting on the web is more limited for formating etc.
Additionally I always find that as soon as someone opens a report from the web they immediatly want to print it.... so I usually opt for reports being developed in Excel (Dynamic Report Templates) then Book Publish with the PDF option, (PDF gives you the best control regarding print ranges).

Dynamically Named Restore Points?

Does anyone know how to create dynamically named restore points? I have an RMAN script that is currently setup like this:
sql 'drop restore point lv_restore';
sql 'create restore point lv_restore';
backup database plus archivelog;
delete noprompt obsolete;
exit;
The first line is where I drop the restore point and the second line is where I create it again. This way the restore point is set just before the backup begins.
Okay - it's setup like this because when I don't drop the restore point ahead of time I get the following error:

This makes sense to me, actually. What I would love to do is to dynamically append the current date to the end of the restore point name. The idea is to have the restore points named something like this:
lv_restore_2008-04-25
lv_restore_2008-04-26
lv_restore_2008-04-27
lv_restore_2008-04-28
lv_restore_2008-04-29
etc...
Is there any way I can dynamically name restore points?

Can anyone explain to me how to use the syntax provided by damorgan to actually append a value to the restore point name in the script I provided?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
