Dynamic page content update.

Is it possible to do that without reloading the whole page?
Can someone give me any ideas how to update, let?s say table content, once user clicks a button.
Thanks,

  • Help! dynamic page content - how to handle?

    Hi !
    How do I handle dynamic page content, where for example my jsp page does a post and updates some data, and I dont want the user to use "back" button to go back onto it.
    Hints appreciated
    Cheers
    Steve

    Yes, you can create links for columns in the sql query of a portal report using htf.anchor/htf.anchor2 or just put in your own html code between single quotes. See the [PL/SQL Web Toolkit|http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_10/web.1012/b15896/toc.htm] for info on the HTF package. There is also a portal Link component which can be created separately and then selected for use on a column in a portal report.

  • How to display dynamic page content in an external application (MS Word)?

    I have a portal that generates a CV from info stored by various forms. The CV displays fine in a dynamic page, but when I add javascript to launch MS Word with a call to the dynamic page portlet, only the hard coded html displays - nothing between the <ORACLE> tags is loaded.
    I had the idea of updating the dynamic page with hard coded html prior to each export - but I can't find where the dynamic page definition is stored in the database.
    Any ideas/better solutions out there?

    dynamic page:
    <ORACLE>
    DECLARE
    theUser varchar2(30) := portal30.COE_GET_CV_PERSON;
    v_output varchar2(6) := portal30.COE_GET_CV_OUTPUT;
    v_no number;
    v_url varchar2(500):= 'http://oraclecoedb.asiapacific.cgey.com:7779/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.wwv_component_control.run_as_portlet?p_module_id=1934976747';
    BEGIN
    IF v_output = 'WORD' THEN htp.script('startWord('||''''||v_url||''''||');','Javascript');
    ELSE null;
    etc ...
    javascript:
    <script language="JavaScript">

    if (myApp != null)
    myApp.Visible = true;

  • Displaying data on a Dynamic page.

    Hi,
    I know i had asked a similar question before of creating a multiple record form. I was given an
    answer that i could create a dynamic page. I am trying to create a dynamic page based on a table
    but most of the fields that i will display on the form are non database fields like description
    and all. All the fields will be display only.
    On the Dynamic page content where we can write the pl/sql code and HTML Code i am under HTML code
    creating a table because i need to show the data in the form of grid and inside oracle tag i have
    open some cursors and all to get the value for my non database fields.
    The problem i am facing is how to pass those values to the HTML table and display on the form.
    Please Help.
    Thanks,
    Amit.

  • How to retrieve and then update a field in a dynamic page?

    I use the dynamic page to retrieve a text field from db table, now I want to update it and save back into the database. The first part(retrieve and display) works fine. But when I put update the table codes inside another oracle tag,it gives me a page not found error. Can you operate on the same database field more than once in a dynamic page?

    The purpose is to automatically calculate the transport freight  as a percentage of the net amount of the sales order. We are able to retrieve this field even if the sales order has not been posted yet with this formatted search:
    Select $[$22.0.0]
    Our doubt is that this field is affected also by the item of the expenses that we are going to calculate, this is the reason why we are trying to calculate the line total of each row and in the formatted search exclude the item that have a certain code (i.e. transport freight), in this way we are sure that we are calculating the percentage of  the net amount of the goods without the freight.
    Thank you for the support.

  • Dynamic Page that calls DB procedure to update data gets PLS222 or PLS306

    This seems a bit odd to me: I'm getting either "procedure no in scope" (when I call a procedure with the right args) or "wrong # or type of arguments" (when I call it with the wrong ones, so it is checking the procedure) in a dynamic page.<P>
    I'm trying to build a dynamic page that will display data and checkboxes (basically to get around the multi-select limitations -- management has told me that the "fake" md form is not acceptable)<P>
    So I build the page, it displays the data just fine exactly as we want it to:<P>
    <HTML><FORM><ORACLE>declare
    p_mdoc_user portal.wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr;
    p_mdoc_user_seq portal.wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr;

    htp.p('Select your segments');
    htp.p('< p>');
    htp.p('<table border=2 cellpadding=2 cellspacing=0>');
    htp.tablerowopen;
    htp.tableheader('Seg#');

    htp.p('< p>');
    /*note, this is where I'm putting in a procedure call to update*/

    </ORACLE></FORM></HTML><P>
    so then I try to add the procedure call (where the sql*plus comment is above)<P>
    htp.p('<input type="button" value="Save Changes" onclick='||

    p_mdoc_user,
    p_mdoc_user_seq,
    p_seg_id,
    p_cb)
    ||'>');<P>
    When I try to run as portlet, I get pls 222 not in scope. <but>
    When I take a value out (say remove the last ",p_cb") - I get pls 306 wrong number or type of args to call.<P>
    I've granted the procedure and its underlying tables to portal/public/and portal_public, even though I'm building the dynamic page under a DB provider that is the same as the schema I wrote the procedure in.<P>
    I've tried specifying the schema, using a public synonym, and putting it in a package: same thing occurs, either I get pls 00222 not in scope when I call it with the right columns, or if I purposefully leave one out I get PLS 00306 wrong # or type of args.<P>
    Any ideas?

  • Dynamic pages created from content stored in relation db - suggestions?

    I'm involved in the early stages of a project and need some guidance on the best approach
    to solve it. The idea is fairly simple. Users will access data stored in a relational database
    and see the data presented to them as conventional web pages. The only dynamic part
    of the web page is the query results returned to the user. The results will be wrapped in
    HTML and JavaScript also stored in the database.
    I've assumed that we'd just be using the browser, start page, Java applets, a JDBC and
    the relational database to handle this.
    Questions:
    1. Once the applets have received all of the content back, in the correct order, from the
    database, how is this fed to the browser so that it can be interpreted as a page?
    2. Will be necessary to use servlets, and if so, at what point does this become a good idea?
    I'm comfortable with the database issues, and have written a lot of HTML by hand. The part
    I'm fumbling with here is the stuff in between. All suggestions are welcome, even those that
    suggest that I RTFM - as long as the manual is named.
    Thanks.

    hi,
    1. Once the applets have received all of the content back, in the correct order, from the
    database, how is this fed to the browser so that it can be interpreted as a page?
    Well you dont actually need to use a Applet if you are just going to retrieve data from the Database for presentation in a Web page, you could use either Servlets or JSP for that, given that you already know HTML and java i dont think either of them is going to take time to learn.
    Well you could a Servlet for eg and in the Servlet write the server-side logic for generating the dynamic html content which is to be presented in the client side, if you are doing lotz of HTML work in the Servlet, you could write a JSP (a JSP will allow you to embed java code along with HTML tagz, much like ASP). I would suggest you use servlets initially though and when you become comfortable enough with servlets, you could also use JSP with JavaBeans.
    2. Will be necessary to use servlets, and if so, at what point does this become a good idea?
    I think itz a better idea to use Servlets to Applets for what you have in mind, for you can get inherant support for sessions, etc also if you write an applet with all that logic, itz going to take time to download that. Also the applet will be only a part of the page, all HTML for eg will be outside of the applet, if you plan to do output using HTML, i think you should use Servlets/JSP instead of Appletz.
    hope that helpz

  • Custom Content Update Page

    Hi Everyone,
    My goal is to generate a custom content update page, and to control the visual structure of the page:
    some fields will be read-only and placed in a table to save space,
    some fields will be editable and placed in a table,
    some fields will be hidden,
    and some fields will be editable in a single line.
    What would be the best approach for this?
    A custom service and template?
    An hcst file like hcst-checkin.hcst from Bex's book?
    Thanks,
    Tal.

    Profiles/Rules still play a part in this equation.
    When you create a rule, you add a field to it. When you add the field you are presented with a setup screen that starts with selecting Edit/Info/Hidden, etc. On that screen is the ability to specify an include used to build that "field row" instead of the typical label and text box or label and drop down approach.
    Use this method to allow yourself to even present fields in different formats for different profiles.
    We've done fields that present "related content" as a list of content id's, and when you click the various content id's we show a thumbnail next to the box to remind users of what they've related/attached to this content.
    For the really, really radical you probably are looking at HCST and a component.

  • How to update content types enheriting from the System Page Content type

    After importing a design package I found out that my content types was missing some columns. I could add the missing columns to my "page" and "Article Page" site content type. When adding the exisiting columns I could choose to update
    everything that inherits from this type:
    This is working. However I still miss 2 columns in the "Page" Content type:
    1. Rollup Image
    2. Hide physical URLs from search
    If I roll back my dev environment I can see that these are inherited from the "System Page" content type which is not editable. The columns are in the "System Page" content type but They are gone in "Page" content type that
    should inherit the columns.
    So how do I update these?
    Thanks

    Hi Alex,
    Thank you for replying. I totally agree with you regarding not to modify the OOB content types. The content types I have created/modified is also my own "new" content types.
    However the designpackage import messed up the OOB content types somehow so I'm only trying to get back to the state before the import. The only thing I see is still missing is the two previously mentioned columns in the "page" content type.
    Do you have any other suggestions in how to get back to the "OOB State"?
    Thank you
    Update: this is my page content type. It's not set to read only so it should update the last two missing columns from its parent (system page content type) right?

  • In a dynamic page how to share variable between PL/SQL and javascript

    For example, my dynamic page contains such PL/SQL codes:
    <ORACLE>
    DECLARE
    info varchar(100);
    rowid urowid;
    procedure doDelete(
    row_id in urowid
    ) IS
    begin
    Delete From xxx
    WHERE rowid = row_id;
    end doDelete;
    BEGIN
    Select name, rowid INTO info, rowid
    From xxx Where xxx;
    HTP.PRN(' <INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="show value" onClick="alert(info);">');
    HTP.PRN(' <INPUT TYPE="button" VALUE="delete" onClick="doDelete(_row_id);">');
    END;
    </ORACLE>
    The variable 'info' and '_row_id' are correct, however the two HTP. sentence do not work. What's the problem?
    What I want to do is to show all the records in TABLE A in a page. And at the end of each line (record), there' re a 'delete' and a 'update' button to let user operate on this record. Is this possible? I know form can do delete an update, but it can not show all the records in a page like what report does. Besides dynamic page, is there any other better choice? Report can do it?
    One more question. In a report, I employed link on one field to a second report. It works well. But I want to open the second report in a new window when the link is click. Is this possible?
    I was almost driven crazy by these :( I so appreciate if anyone can help.

    The code written by you is insufficient for the funtionality you are trying to achieve. Below is a method to achieve the same.
    Note: Used standard scott.emp table for the example which is located in my db provider schema.
    Do the below modifications as per your local configuration
    xxxxx -> Replace it with your Portal schema
    yyyyy -> Replace it with your db provider schema
    <<module_id_of_form>> -> Replace with the module id of form created in step 1 & 2.
    First and foremost... oracle does not allows variables starting with '_'. So if you want to use it you have to place it in double quotes ("")
    rowid -> illegal
    "_row_id" -> legal.
    However, I will advice you not to use variable names starting with "_".
    Now lets get started...
    1. Create a form on the table you are using in the dynamic page. Just have the update button. Remove the other buttons.
    2. Get the module id of this form. Instruction for getting the module id:
    a) Right-click on the form's run link and copy the shortcut
    b) Get the value of p_moduleid parameter. This is your module id.
    3. Create a procedure "save_action_details" in your db provider schema. This procedure will accomplish the delete operation on the record.
         CREATE OR REPLACE Procedure save_action_details(
         p_rowid IN VARCHAR2,
         p_action IN VARCHAR2,
         p_dyn_ref_path IN VARCHAR2,
         p_dyn_page_url IN VARCHAR2)
         is
         l_sto_session xxxxx.wwsto_api_session;
         begin
         l_sto_session := xxxxx.wwsto_api_session.load_session(
         p_domain => 'DynStore',
         p_sub_domain => 'DynStore_' || p_dyn_ref_path
         l_sto_session.set_attribute(
         p_name => 'rowid',
         p_value => p_rowid
         l_sto_session.set_attribute(
         p_name => 'action',
         p_value => p_action
         l_sto_session.save_session;
         htp.init;
         owa_util.redirect_url(p_dyn_page_url);
         end save_action_details;
    Explaination: The above procedure creates a session and keeps the rowid and action in the session. This information is used by the below dynamic form to perform the necessary action. In our exampl, the action is always going to be delete so you may go ahead and hard code it, else leave it as it is.
    4. Grant execute privilege on the procedure "save_action_details" to public.
    sql> grant execute on save_action_details to public;
    5. Create your Dynamic page.
    a) In HTML code section have the below code. This code shows some columns from the table and "update" and "delete" buttons to perform the respective action.
         <ORACLE>select empno,ename,rowid,
         '<input type="button" value="Update" onClick="doAction(this.form,''UPD'',''xxx'','''
         || xxxxx.wwv_standard_util.url_encode(rowid) || '''); tWin();">
         <input type="button" value="delete" onclick="doAction(this.form,''DEL'',''' || rowid || ''',''xxx'');">' Action
         from yyyyy.emp</ORACLE>
    b) In additional pl/sql code section of dynamic page, have the below pl/sql block "in after displaying the header" section.
         declare
         l_sto_session xxxxx.wwsto_api_session;
         l_del_rowid varchar2(20);
         l_action varchar2(10);
         begin
         htp.comment('User code starts here ...');
         htp.p('<script>');
         htp.p('var winHandle;');
         htp.p('
         function doAction(formObj, action, rowid, erowid)
              if (action == "UPD")
              var formURL = "' || xxxxx.wwctx_api.get_proc_path('wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=<<module_id_of_form>>&p_arg_names=_rowid&p_arg_values=') || '" + erowid;
              winHandle = window.open(formURL, "winDynUpd", "width=750,height=500,resizable=yes");
              else
              formObj.p_rowid.value = rowid;
              formObj.p_action.value = action;
              formObj.submit();
         function tWin() {
              if (winHandle.closed) {
              document.location = document.location;
              else {
              setTimeout("tWin()", 500);
         htp.p('</script>');
         htp.p('<form name="dynRowProcess" method="POST" action="'
         || xxxxx.wwctx_api.get_proc_path('save_action_details','yyyyy')
         || '">');
         htp.p('<input type="hidden" name="p_rowid">');
         htp.p('<input type="hidden" name="p_action">');
         htp.p('<input type="hidden" name="p_dyn_ref_path" value="' || p_reference_path || '">');
         htp.p('<input type="hidden" name="p_dyn_page_url" value="' || p_page_url || '">');
         l_sto_session := xxxxx.wwsto_api_session.load_session(
         p_domain => 'DynStore',
         p_sub_domain => 'DynStore_' || p_reference_path
         l_del_rowid := l_sto_session.get_attribute_as_varchar2('rowid');
         l_action := l_sto_session.get_attribute_as_varchar2('action');
         if l_action = 'DEL' then
         delete from yyyyy.emp
         where rowid = l_del_rowid;
         end if;
         end;
    Explaination: The session information (rowid and action) stored by "save_action_details" procedure is retrieved by the dynamic page and is used to delete the record.
    6. Once you are through with the above steps, test it by placing the above "dynamic page" portlet on a page.
    a) When you click on delete button the record gets deleted and the automatically refreshed page will not show the deleted record.
    b) On clicking update button, a form will appear. do the necessary modifications in data and click update. the data in the form gets updated. Once you close the form the dynamic page gets refreshed automatically and it will show you the updated information.

  • How to get form fields in a dynamic page as a portlet

    I have a dynamic page(publish as portlet and added to a portal page) with a html form that has many radio button created dynamically (query a table and create as many radio button as records I found) and the name of each radio button is the id of the record from the table it represents.
    When I click the submit button of my form it will recall the same portal page and then I have to check which radio buttons where selected to update the database depending on it.
    The problem is that I can't get the radio buttons inside the dynamic page because they are created dynamically so I can't make them portlet parameters to be associated with page parameters.
    So How can I tell which radio buttons have been selected?
    Please help me.

    Hi,
    Write a procedure which will be called as the form action. This procedure should take an array of parameters like p_arg_names and p_arg_values. For example
    <html>
    <form>
    <input type="checkbox" name="p_radio">
    <input type="checkbox" name="p_radio">
    </form>
    procedure submit_form(p_radio in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr)
    begin
    for i in 1..p_radio.count
    loop
    htp.p(p_radio(i));
    end loop;
    wwv_redirect.url(<page_url>);
    end;
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,

  • Retrieve data from a dynamic page via loadURL

    Hello.
    I would like to ask you how it is possible to retrieve data
    from a dynamic page (asp classic in my case) using the loadURL
    method.
    I would like to create an html authentication form (with
    username and password fields). The loadURL method should call an
    asp page and then pass to the usual function 'DoIfSucceded' the
    results of the elaboration.
    Of course I'm going to have a switch in the function in order
    to make different actions depending from the results of the asp
    page (authentication succeded or failed).
    I had a look to the examples at this page:
    Adobe
    samples
    Is there anyone who can explain clearly how the results data
    must be written by the asp page and how the success function can
    retrieve them ?
    I thank you in advance for your help.

    loadURL() uses the the XMLHttpRequest Object so if the
    content you return is XML, you have 2 choices for accessing your
    data. You can either access it as a text string via the
    XMLHttpRequest object's responseText property, or as a DOM document
    via the XMLHttpRequest object's responseXML property:
    function MySuccessCallback(req)
    // If my data is XML, I can access the data that was sent
    from the server
    // as DOM elements via the XMLHttpRequest's responseXML
    property.
    var xmlDOM = req.xhRequest.responseXML;
    // OR, you can access the data sent back from the server as
    text via
    // the XMLHttpRequest object's responseText property.
    var xmlAsAString = req.xhRequest.responseText;
    var req = Spry.Utils.loadURL("GET",
    "/app/book.php?id=1&code=54321", true, MySuccessCallback);
    If your serverside script wants to use some other format as a
    response like JSON or plain text, then you can only access the data
    as text via the responseText property.

  • Page contents in a region

    Hi,
    1. I have some html and asp.net pages which need to show up inside a region of a portal page. I am able to add hyperlinks to these pages but I am not able to figure out how to have the contents of those pages automatically appear in that region.
    To put it another way, i want the contents of a site (e.g. http://mysite/default.aspx) to appear in a region without somebody having to click on a hyperlink to navigate there.
    2. I want to maintain portal integrity while navigating amongst the pages of that site. So while I see the submit button of my default page, the page that it takes me to should also show up in that region.
    I have tried to find something called a "url folder" to accomplish this and I am logged in as orcladmin but I am just not seeing it.
    I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Sai

    Hi Sai!
    I guess i have the solution for your problem.If i am not wrong you want your site contents to appear on the page region without having to click any links.
    You can create a dynamic page. try creating a frame on it and you can place your link on that frame.Publish this dynamic page as a portlet and place this portlet on your page region .your site contents will automatically appear on the page. If you have any question please write me back

    While in edit mode in the Moodle course management system, the Page Content window should display the page as it will appear to the user. If you click on the "Edit" button, you are able to view the HTML code for the page. However, when you return to the normal display mode, the page is blank. This has occurred after the upgrade to Firefox 11.0. Page is normally rendered in Internet Explorer.

    A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • An Error was encountered while retrieving page content

    Hi guys,
    I have a user that is having an issue when trying to add a header & footer and is receiving "an error was encountered while retieving page content" error. Our firm has acrobat 9.0 pro on windows xp. The file is located on a network share and even if i copy this file to my desktop it gives me this error. Let me know if you guys need more information.
    Thanks.

    Checking the network share is always a good starting point. Acrobat has had problems with some of these over the years. I would generally recommend working locally. However, that does not appear to be the current problem. Since you mentioned AA9.0, my first recommendation is to update AA which is currently at 9.4.4 version. That may solve the problem, partiuclarly if you are using 9.0. The updates may be done from the help menu (you will likely see several. The should always be installed in order). The help menu links generally give you cummulative updates. You can also download them from Adobe.com>downloads and select the updates in the right field near the top. You can then search for the Acrobat Windows updates. You have to generally install ALL of them that are listed in order. They generally are not cummulative. I am guessing the updates may fix the problem.
