Dynamic Query in Element Definition

Hi All,
I am using SiteStudio 10gR4 Designer, i have placed a query in element definition, since the query is auto generated from content server so it is specific to node ID, now i want to use it for other node IDs as well.
Just to clear out i want to use the same element definition for different sections without displaying the datafiles related to other node IDs. I need to make the query in element defination generic.
Eg.:
xWebsiteObjectType <substring> `Data File` <AND> xWebsiteSection <substring> `test:30` <AND> xSubType <substring> `SideNavigation`
I want to replace `test:30`so that the query becomes generic.
Thanks.

Simple. Just put in idoc for the siteId and nodeId:
xWebsiteObjectType <substring> `Data File` <AND> xWebsiteSection <substring> *`<$siteId$>:<$nodeId$>`* <AND> xSubType <substring> `SideNavigation`
Good luck, and please award points as necessary.

• Sorting dynamic listing by element definition field.

Hi,
Does any one know how to sort a dynamic listing by one of the regional definition field?
My situation is currently sorting is done by dDocTitle (<!--$SortField = "dDocTitle"-->). The title that is displayed in website(h1) has a different title from dDocTitle. So although it is sorting by dDocTitle, it looks random in the live website.
So I was wondering if there is a way to sort dynamic listing by one of the element definition field.
I was hoping that something like this will work but it didn't
<!--$SortField = ssIncludeXml(dDocName,"ContentPage/Title/node()")-->
Thanks.

Wish there was a way, but unfortunately I don't think there is without building your own custom sort. SortField only takes metadata fields.
My suggestion is to have your users actually use dDocTitle (or a different metadata field), as opposed to ContentPage/Title/node().

• Using a Site Studio 10R4 Dynamic List Element Definition

Hi All,
I've created and can use a Static List Element Definition > Region Definition > Region Template with no problems based off of the 10gR4 samples.
However, there is no example that I've found to utilise the Element Definition of a Dynamic List. I'm attempting to use the same sample code as provided for a Static List but having no luck displaying the results of the query...
Does anyone have some sample code used in a Region Template or Sub Template to show how we use a Dynamic List Element Definition please?
I noted from another thread in this forum that there are some iDoc calls to make which load the query defined in the Element Definition... I can't find any documentation regarding this either.
Thanks

• Help on performance with dynamic query

Hi All,
We are using SQL Server 2008R2. In our one of report we are using Dynamic query and it is taking more time to retrieve the data. to retrieve 32 records it is taking 13-15 secs. In my observation in a table variable, created more than 60 columns. In
the SP called one more sp with insert statement.
Please let me know how i can improve performance of the SP.
I know that i have to provide the SP for observation but unfortunately I cannot provide the SP. Please guide me how i can achieve this .
I tried with temp tables by creating indexes on temp tables but i couldn't find improvement in performance.
Waiting for valuable replies.

First of all a "dynamic query" is not "a query" - it is a multitude of them. Some of them may be fast, others may be slow.
There is of course no way we can give specific suggestions without seeing the code, the table and index definitions etc.
We can only give the generic suggestions. As for the code, make sure that you are using parameterised SQL and you are not building a complete SQL string with parameters and all. If nothing else, this helps to make the code more readable and maintainable.
It also protects you against SQL injection. And it also helps to prevent performance issue due to implicit conversion.
You will need to look at the query plan to see where the bottlenecks may be. You should look at the actual query plan. Note that the thickness of the arrows are more relevant than the percentages you see; the percentages are only estimates, and estimates
are often off. Next step is to see if you can add indexes to alleviate the situation. You should also analyse if there are problems in the query, for instance indexed columns that are entangled in expression. If you are using views, make sure that you don't
have views built on top of views etc. This can often result a table appearing multiple times in a query, when one would be enough.

• How to deal with dynamic selection screen elements when macros are used?

Hello experts,
This is regarding the dynamic selection screen elements. Actually the requirement is to modify the existing standard report program RFUMSV00 by copying it into a Z report, adding a few selection screen elements and new fields in the output. I actually did everything required except for the one thing that is going out of my reach.
There are a certain fields which are coming when they are not supposed to get displayed. I don't understand the code because of its obsoleteness. Neither can I debug it because it is just data declaration.
This is the code where there is a fault. If I copy the entire code into a new Z report, I'm getting new fields like Entry Date, Document Type, Reference Transaction, Reference key, Logical system.
DEFINE selection_screen_line.
selection-screen: begin of line.
parameters &3 like &4 default 'X' modif id mc4.
selection-screen: comment (30) &1 for field &3 modif id mc4.
selection-screen: comment pos_low(10) text-019
for field &2 modif id mc4. "neu
parameters &2 like rfums_alv-variante modif id mc4.
selection-screen:
position pos_high.
selection-screen: pushbutton (15) text-028
user-command &5 modif id mc4.
selection-screen end of line.
END-OF-DEFINITION.
Kindly, suggest me the right solution.

In the program attributes ( SE38 > RFUMSV00 > GOTO > Properties ), you will find a logical database BRF declared. The include DBBRFSEL is part of the selection screen of this logical database.
The selection screen is actually the selection screen of this logical database.
Under the Logical Database field, there is a Selection screen field where you can input which selection screen of the logical database to be used.
But, this is just to change the selection screen that is displayed. To completely suppress it you need to remove logical database declaration from the properties of the program and call it inside your program through function module.
You cannot just remove it from the declaration because many of its variables are used in the program.
So call it using function module as the first step in INITIALIZATION section of the program.
The syntax and function module to call it in your program can be found in the following thread :
How to hide the selection screen of a Logical datebase?

• How to enhance Dynamic Query Object TerrSearch (Territory Management)?

Hello Friends,
In the TerrSearch dynamic query object, There are 2 fields Territory_ID and Level_ID. Now i have a requirement to Enhance the Search object using the new field called TERRITORY PATH ID. using which we can search all the entities not only for the terrritory level which we have selected (for example we have assigned the value '01' to LEVEL_ID) but also all the below territory levels of selected territory level.
If we enhance the search object structure CRMST_TMIL_SEARCH (structure of TerrSearch object) using AET to add the Z field called TERRITORY_PATH_ID then which is the suitable BADI where we can add the necessary code to select all the entities based on all the territory levels below the selected territory level.

• Interactive report based on dynamic query

Hello
I am using Apex 4.1 and have a requirement to create an interactive report based on a dynamic query. This option is available in Classic report but in Interactive this feature is not there. Tried using collections or just a view (thought of changing the view definition during "On load", but structure of the report is already defined based on the definition of the view at design time).
Is there any way of achieving this?
Appreciate any help!

• Passing Dynamic Number of Elements and Attributes in Orchestrator

i am having trouble determining the best way, from a powershell snippet in a Run .Net Activity, to pass a dynamic list of elements with each element having a dynamic list of attributes . Example:
on one call of the activity the data might be the following:
element1 with 3 attributes
element2 with 2 attributes
element3 with 0 attributes
on another call of the activity the data be the following:
element1 with 0 attributes
element2 with 3 attributes
i understand how to create objects, arrays, and hashes. i would like to know the best way to pass the data above from the .Net activity powershell snippet (where the data is created) to another activity. Ideally I would like to pass
a custom object created with powershell (not an array or hash), but research tells me that it is not possible to publish an object on the Orchestrator databus. Any assistance is appreciated.

You can try combining the parameters into a single string in PowerShell separated by a delimiter like a semi-colon. Then you can have a single parameter in the Invoke Runbook activity. Once the parameter is passed you can then use the Split Field activity
that is included in the Data Manipulation IP.
http://orchestrator.codeplex.com/releases/view/83934
You could do something similar for the SQL Query. Just combine the string to a single output in PowerShell and use the PARSENAME function, or something similar, to separate out your parameters.

• Duplicate records for Dynamic Query in WLS 7

I am getting duplicate records back when I run a dynamic query. If I run the same
query via a finder method, I get the correct results.
Here's the query:
SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(a) FROM Company AS a, b IN a.userRole WHERE b.userId = ?1
AND a.deptId IN ('1', '2', '3')
Company EJB maps to LU_Company (look up table for company)
Company to UserRole is a one-to-many relationship.
The number of duplicates is equal to the number of records I have for the same company_id
in User_Role table.
The ids for the object I should get back are 1, 2, 3.
Instead I get back 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3
In the database, company_id 1 occurs twice in user_role table; company_id 2 occurs

Any ideas of why the dynamic query has this problem whereas the same query for a

Hi Mike,
I just filed a bug report for this (CR079471). As a work around, you
can
use the
setSQLSelectDistinct flag so the database will weed out the duplicates.
The only thing to
look out for when using this flag is that Oracle will not allow the use
of 'SELECT DISTINCT'
in conjunction with a 'FOR UPDATE' clause, thus,<sql-select-distinct>True
CANNOT be used if
any Bean in the calling chain has a method with <transaction-isolation>

How can I create a report with dynamic queries?
For example, I have a form with several check_boxes which represent the field_names.My user selecting the fields by checking the check_boxes in the form. After finishing the user's selection, i want to generate a query based on the fields chosen by the user and a report needs to be generated based on the dynamic query.
Can anyone has any idea on this requirement? Quick response is appreciated. Thanks.

hello,
this sounds like the perfect oportunity for using the runtime customization feature of oracle reports 6i.
using that you can either custimize an existing report using an XML file or -which fits more your requirement- encode a report-definition in XML and run the XML file.
you could dynamically create that file according to the users selection and then run this file.
you find more about runtime customization in the documentation of reports 6i.

• How to find table name(s) in a dynamic query

In one of our (9iAS PORTAL)applications, any user can able to run their query statment and get output. All queries will be executed as dynamic SQL thru' a common shema/user who has 'SELECT' privilege on all tables but all users don't have this privilege on all tables. Now, before executing any query I need to find out what are the table name(s) used in this query to check the privilege for the respective user. How do I extract all table names being used in a dynamic query?.
Thanks
-Krishnamurthy

I guess that his users log in to application first, then application uses one account to log in to database, so application are not direct database user since all users share the same account to database. If so, when a user lgins in, you may write it down from application to a database audit table, and you need to write down the dynamic query to the database audit table too, then you may query that audit table to find out. up to here, it looks that your application has to do more to assign what role to a user running the application, since database does not know what user is assessing it.

The user id abc_user has the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role.
The data server also has the checkbox for allow dynamic query enabled.

Once we add the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role to the data server everything works fine. Is this feature by design ?
