Dynamic Query Recordset Display

This is a snippet of code from ASP that I am trying to
translate into its equilvelent in ColdFusion. If anyone could help
me I would greatly appreciate it.
for each field in rs.fields
response.write(field.name)
next
do until rs.eof
for each field in rs.fields
response.write(rs(field.name))
next
rs.movenext
loop
The purpose of this snippet is to display all the columns and
all the values for those columns on any recordset
dynamically.

Found it.
<table border="1">
<tr>
<cfloop list="#searchresults.ColumnList#"
index="column">
<cfoutput><th>#column#</th></cfoutput>
</cfloop>
</tr>
<cfoutput query="searchresults">
<tr>
<cfloop list="#searchresults.ColumnList#"
index="column">
<td>#Evaluate(column)#</td>
</cfloop>
</tr>
</cfoutput>
</table>

  • Dynamic Query to display a page of records at a time

    I need some help creating procedure with a dynamic query that will query a table and pass out a certain number of records (like records 101 - 200 of 20,000). This procedure will receive the column names, table name, where clause, page number and number of records per page. It will then pass back the requested records to be displayed on a PHP page.
    Pseudo Code:
    Select Dynamic_Columns, ROWNUM
    Into Dynamic_Pl_Sql_Table
    From Dynamic_Table
    Where Dynamic_Where_Clause
    Total_Records_Out := Dynamic_PL_Sql_Table.Count
    Modulus := Mod(Total_Records_Out, Total_Records_Per_Page_In)
    Total_Pages_Out := (Total_Records_Out - Modulus) / Total_Records_Per_Page_In
    If Modulus > 0 Then
    Total_Pages_Out + 1
    End If
    Row_Start = Page_Number_In * Total_Records_Per_Page_In
    Row_End = Row_Start + Total_Records_Per_Page_In
    Results_Out = Dynamic_Pl_Sql_Table(Row_Start ... Row_End)
    Any help with this will be appreciated!

    Maybe this will help you
    1) If the Serial is 0 then page break
    2) total_rows gives you total number of rows selected.
    3) you can apply where clause to this and it will give you appropriate records.

  • Display results from dynamic query created and executed inside procedure

    Hi;
    I have created this code:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE RunDynamicQuery(Var1 IN VARCHAR2, Var2 IN VARCHAR2, VAR3 IN VARCHAR2) AS
    -- Do something
    -- That ends up with a variable holding a query.... (just an example)
    MainQuery :='select sysdate from dual';
    end RunDynamicQuery;
    How can I run this procedure and see the result on the dymanic query generated inside it?
    BEGIN
    compare_tables_content('VAR1','VAR2','VAR3');
    END;
    Expected Output for this given example:
    20-05-2009 11:04:44 ( the result of the dymanic query inside the procedure variable MainQuery :='select sysdate from dual';)
    I tested with 'execute immediate':
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE RunDynamicQuery(Var1 IN VARCHAR2, Var2 IN VARCHAR2, filter IN VARCHAR2) AS
    -- Do something
    -- That ends up with a variable holding a query.... (just an example)
    MainQuery :='select sysdate from dual';
    execute immediate (MainQuery );
    end RunDynamicQuery;
    BEGIN
    compare_tables_content('VAR1','VAR2','VAR3');
    END;
    Output:"Statement processed'' (no sysdate displayed ! )
    Please consider that the collums in the query are always dynamic... PIPELINE Table would not work because I would need to define a container, example:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE emp_tabtype AS TABLE OF emp_type;
    FUNCTION RunDynamicQuery (p_cursor IN sys_refcursor)
    RETURN emp_tabtype PIPELINED
    IS
    emp_in emp%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
    LOOP
    FETCH p_cursor
    INTO emp_in;
    EXIT WHEN p_cursor%NOTFOUND;
    PIPE ROW (...)

    That would be a nice solution, thanks :)
    ''For now'' I implemented like this:
    My dynamic query now returns a single string ( select col1 || col2 || col3 from bla)
    This way I don't have dynamic collumns issue, and from business side, this ''string'' format works for them.
    This way I can use the pipelines to get the result out...
    OPEN myCursor FOR MainQuery;
    FETCH myCursor
    INTO myRow;
    WHILE (NOT myCursor%notFound) LOOP
    PIPE ROW(myRow);
    FETCH myCursor
    INTO myRow;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE myCursor;

  • How to use dynamic query for Result table

    Hello Experts,
    I want to use dynamic query and then display the result in the assignment block.
    Using dynamic query BTQAct and BTQRAct and base on some search criteria i want tofilter and then append the result in the result table of that custom context node, and then it should display the result in the view in UI.
    SO can you please provide me the samplle code on how to use the dynamic query and append in the result table.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    Please find below sample code:
    data:  query         TYPE REF TO cl_crm_bol_dquery_service,
               result        TYPE REF TO if_bol_bo_col.
    DATA: lt_params       TYPE crmt_name_value_pair_tab,
               lwa_params      TYPE crmt_name_value_pair.
    query = cl_crm_bol_dquery_service=>get_instance( 'BTQAct' ). " Get instance of dynamic query
    Set general query parameter for maximum number of hits
          lwa_params-name = 'MAX_HITS' .
          lwa_params-value = '50'.
          APPEND lwa_params TO lt_params.
          query->set_query_parameters( it_parameters = lt_params ).
          query->add_selection_param( iv_attr_name = 'OBJECT_ID'
                                                    iv_sign      = 'I'
                                                    iv_option    = 'EQ'
                                                    iv_low       = <lv_objectid>
                                                    iv_high      = '' ). " Set your search criteria. Repeat this code if you have multiple parameters
    "You can find possible search options for a query object in  GENIL_BOL_BROWSER
    result ?= query->get_query_result(  ).   " Get result from your search query
    me->typed_context-> <your result context node>->set_collection( result ).
    Here you will have to create a context node in your view which would refer to query result object like for BTQAct its BTQRAct
    Hope this helps.

  • Query a stored procedure that exec's a dynamic query. Error Linked server indicates object has no columns

    I have a stored procedure that dynamically creates a pivot query.  The procedure works and returns the correct data.  Now I have a requirement to show this data in reporting system that can only pull from a table or view.  Since you can not
    create a dynamic query in a view I tried to do a select from using openquery.
    Example 'Select * from OpenQuery([MyServername], 'Exec Instance.Schema.StoredProcedure')
    I get the error back "the linked server indicates the object has no columns".  I assume this is because of the first select statement that is stuffing the variable with column names.
    CODE FROM PROCEDURE
    Alter PROCEDURE [dbo].[Procedure1]
    AS
    BEGIN
    SET NOCOUNT ON
    Declare @cols nvarchar(2000),
      @Tcols nvarchar(2000),
      @Sql nvarchar (max)
    select @cols = stuff ((
          Select distinct '], ['+ModelName + '  ' + CombustorName
           from CombustorFuel cf
           join Model m on cf.modelid = m.modelid
           join Combustors cb on cf.CombustorID = cb.CombustorID
           where cf.CombustorID > 0
           for XML Path('')
          ),1,2,'')+']'
    Set @Tcols = replace(@Cols, ']', '] int')
    --Print @Tcols
    --Print @Cols
    Set @Sql = 'Select GasLiquid, FuelType, '+ @Cols +'
    from
     Select GasLiquid, FuelType, ModelName+ ''  '' +CombustorName ModelCombustor, CombFuelStatus+''- ''+CombFuelNote CombFuelStatusNote
      from Frames f
      join Family fa on f.Frameid = fa.frameid
      join Model m on fa.FamilyID = m.FamilyID
      join CombustorFuel cf on m.Modelid = cf.modelid
      Join Combustors c on cf.CombustorId = c.CombustorID
      join FuelTypes ft on cf.FuelTypeID = ft.FuelTypeID
      where cf.CombustorFuelID > 0
        and CombustorName <> ''''
     ) up
    Pivot
     (max(CombFuelStatusNote) for ModelCombustor in ('+ @Cols +')) as pvt
    order by FuelType'
    exec (@Sql)

    Then again, a good reporting tool should be able to do dynamic pivot on its own, because dynamic pivoting is a presentation feature.

    Displaying and reading are two very different things.
    #1) SSRS Needs a fixed field list on the input side to know what what to make available in the designer.
    #2) SSRS cant read "exec (@Sql)" out of a proc, even if there is a fixed number of columns (at
    least it can't use it to auto build the field list from the proc)
    I use dynamic SQL in my report procs on a fairly regular basis and I've found it easiest to simply dump
    the results of my dynamic sql into a temp table at the end of the procs and then select from the temp table.
    Basically, Erland is correct. Stop trying to pivot in the query and let SSRS (or whatever reporting software you're using) handle it with a Martix.

  • Building a dynamic query

    I have a need to build a truly dynamic query, that would be able to take online form input and create a query that would handle data requests like, How many employees earn less than #some salary, have a masters degree, and speak chinese.  or show me all the employees in org A that are vets.
    A true ad hoc query tool.
    the back end is oracle 11g, the database  contains about 8 or 9 tables all total there about 500 records that will be searched. we are running CF7.
    I just started kicking this around today so I am open for Ideas.  add filters in the where clause, i got that,   start with  1=1 and use conditional statements to add filters as necessary.  setting up the Select and From statements, need help there.
    Since this is a small db, I thout about, but scrapped, making a super-view to query from.
    your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks
    jb

    What about something like this:
    1) Determine what tables are going to be involved (visual GUI/drag & drop interface for the users?)
    2) Have a table that defines the relationship between the other tables in your database - once the table selection is made by the user, you can query this table to determine what columns you are going to join on.  Obviously this won't allow you complete customization but it would work for the scenarios you describe.
    3) Use your database system properties to retrieve the field names from your included tables
    4) Allow your users to add "filters" based on the fields retrieved in (3)
    e.g. You could use an interface to allow users to add a filter, where you display a list of fields from your tables and allow them to apply a simple filter to them - keep it simple (=, !=, >, <)
    for bonus points, you could limit the options based on the field type (checkboxes for bit fields, etc)
    sanitize the user input - find a SQL-safe reg exp script to handle any unwanted characters (I'm looking at you apostrophe).
    5) Don't try an support aggregates if you don't need to - users can load the results into excel and manipulate them to their hearts content.
    6) Build your SQL using the selections made by the user.  Import all records from your joined tables.  Use the table from (2) to determine which fields they join on.  and build your where clause using the filters the user created in steap (4).  Again, be sure anything not explicitly set by the system is sanitized prior to making its way into the SQL.
    7) Execute() your SQL inside a CF query.  Expect pretty poor performance, since most SQL databases won't optimize a query plan from a dynamic SQL evaluation.
    You could build this as a multi-step wizard in CF, but it would be pretty flashy as a jQuery/web service based application.

  • Sort problem on dynamic query !!

    Hi,
    I have a dynamic query written in pl/sql, when I check "Sort" for each field in Report Attribute, error message raised up as "ORA-01785: ORDER BY item must be the number of a SELECT-list expression".
    If I do not check Sort, it works fine. In my apps I need all fields sorted by user, how to fix this problem?
    My query as below:
    declare
    query varchar2(2000):='select';
    s_class varchar2(1000);
    cursor c1 is select * from demo_preference;
    begin
    for c1_val in c1 loop
    if c1_val.login is not null then
    query := query ||' ' || 'login' || ',';
    end if;
    if c1_val.id is not null then
    query := query ||' ' || 'id' || ',';
    end if;
    end loop;
    query := SUBSTR(query, 1, length(query)-1);
    s_class := '(NVL(:P2_class, ''%'' || ''null%'') = ''%'' || ''null%'' OR
    EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM apex_collections WHERE collection_name = ''P2CLASSCOL'' AND c001 = class))';
    query := query ||' ' || 'from ming.reg_report_view1 where'
    || ' ' || s_class;
    return(query);
    end;

    Maybe the internally mapped column used when you clicked on sort is not shown in the report. Try using aliases when you construct the query string, it could help apex internally in identifying a column even if its order changes for a different user. After all the column order in the code is dynamic and I guess even the no of columns displayed might vary both of which could make sorting on a column identified with a number, invalid.
    How about displaying the report query somewhere, so that you know what is the exact query being processed, it might give you better information about the problem.
    If the problem persists, then use a collection that is fetched those record using the same query string and change the report to refer the collection and then set column sorting on. This way apex would get confused on what columns are being sorted and it would just sort on a c001..c050 column as though it was a string(yes problems with number columns sorting when you do this).

  • How to get 100 latest hits from dynamic query?

    Hello,
    using a dynamic query like BTQAct returns the 100 first results.
    I know how to change the number of results by setting parameter MAX_HITS, but is there a possibility to get the latest 100 results without getting all results and delete the oldest till 100 remains?
    In GENIL_BOL_BROWSER I see additional parameters MATCH_TYPE, DROP_SEL_PARAMS_ALLOWED and SELECTION_HINTS, but I don't know, how to use them and what they are doing.
    regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    All the bol parameters that you have mentione dwill not help you unfortunately.
    The only facility provided in the wb ui as of now is to automatically customise the no of results (ie max hits),but not the order in which they are displayed.
    Though there is a sort option in the table view,which can be enabled throguh html and you can sort the same on any of the date fields tha you have.BUt if you want to do any kind of xtra processing of the search results then you have to do it in eh_onsearch().Here after getting the results collection,you can filtre them on the basis that you want.If you do thsi,you will also be able to delete all the older from the result collection xcept for the 1st 100 like you said.This will ensure that the results are filetred only on the Ui level and no harm is done to the database entires as such.

  • SSRS 2005 - Dynamic Query handling.

    Hello All,
    I need to generate a report based on some dynamic query. I am passing a query string to SQL Server procedure (from .Net UI), this procedure returns dynamic set of columns. These columns and number of columns can vary from query to query. I want to show these
    columns on report dynamically.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    -Regards
    -Kumud Vaish

    Hi Kumud,
    I don't think it is possible do display the dynamic columns on the report since the columns and number of columns are dynamically.
    In a SQL Server Reporting Services report, we need to get the column name and use it on a column of a tablix control if we want to display it on a report. In your scenario, the columns name are dynamic. When reference to a column which not
    exist on the dataset, we will get the error
    "Report item expressions can only refer to the fields within the current dataset scope or if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope."
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Dynamic Query and default run-time values

    I am trying to build a dynamic query within dreamweaver and
    retain access from the bindings panel.
    here is a simple pseudo-query I want to expand on.
    "SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
    widgets"
    widgets is set up as a variable with a run-time value that
    relates to $_GET['widgets']
    this works fine but now i want to expand on this so the query
    returns all results if $_GET['widgets'] is undefined. I was hoping
    I could set the default value for widgets to equal widget_number so
    I would get....
    "SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
    widget_number" but the runtime query is actually
    "SELECT object FROM objects_table WHERE widget_number =
    'widget_number' " which obviously doesn't work.
    I can alter the query manually from the code view but then I
    lose access to the bindings panel as dreamweaver doesn't parse the
    query properly.
    Any pointers?
    Thanks in advance

    This is simply a question of organizing your workflow. As you
    have
    discovered, Dreamweaver no longer recognizes a recordset if
    you make
    changes to the basic structure of the code. The answer is to
    use
    Dreamweaver to construct your page using an unaltered
    recordset. Once
    the design stage is complete, make the changes required by
    inserting
    your conditional statement. Yes, the fieldnames disappear
    from the
    Bindings panel, and you get exclamation marks in the Server
    Behaviors
    panel, but that's not important. If you need to restore them
    for any
    reason, just wrap the changes in /* */ comments. Remove the
    comments
    when you have finished.

  • Conditional URL ( CASE )  within a Dynamic Query

    I need extra eyes or help in RE-FORMATTING the following SELECT STMT. My approach was to formulate the following query to get a functioning URL to the page that displayed the corrections made on that record (if it was corrected)...which I did. • Using 2 tables framing of dynamic query wherein columns are decided runtime

    Hi Team,
    I had a requirement could anyone help me out or suggest your views. we are using Adf faces as UIlayer and Toplink for dataaccess. In that we had 2 tables systemdefinedTable and userdefinedTable which has one-to-one relation. Userdefinedtable has columns col1,col2,col3.......col50 and this comes at runtime from xml like col1 as Lastname,col2 as firstname.
    Now we need to generate a dynamic query that joins the systemdefinedTable and userdefinedTable to produce the result for the UI layer. Now suppose if the xml has 2 cols tag.
    The dynamic query may look like this:
    Select S.ID, S.NAME, S.STATUS, U.COL1 as FirstName, U.COL2 as LastName
    From userdefinedTable U, systemdefinedTable S
    Where S.QID = U.QID
    Next if the xml has 3 more column tags then COL1,COL2,COL3 ...like wise columns will be decided runtime..So please share your views or any related blogs to achieve this.
    Thanks in Advance for your help.

    Hello,
    If you are using TopLink and need dynamically generated queries, why not use TopLink Expressions for your queries, and return java objects back. Then you can display which ever fields from the fully populated objects that you need.
    See the docs for TopLink queries here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/b32441/qryun.htm#autoId28
    A simple example returning all systemdefinedObjects would be:
    ReadAllQuery query = new ReadAllQuery(systemdefinedObject.class);
    query.addJoinedAttribute(query.getExpressionBuilder().get("user"));
    Collection<systemdefinedObject> results = session.executeQuery(query);
    This allows populating the cache and for caching the statements and the query results.
    But I'm not sure exactly what you are after.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Data From Query not Displayed on Public Page

    Hi all,
    I just created a page which has a dynamic portlet that runs a query to display some data. Now I recently made this page public which means that anyone can basically access this page from the outside and not have to login. However, the data does not seem to come up after I access this page on a browser even though the banner comes up fine!! I made the table that the dynamic portlet accesses public. Is there something that I may be missing here? THanks.

    Well I went to the grant access tab and there is no make portlet accessable to public. The only place to make a component accessible to public is when your editing a page. The only options when you click on the Grant Access Tab is 1) Publish To Portal and 2) Inherit Previleges From Application.
