Dynamic Radiobutton Group By key in Web dynpro Java

Hi I am making an online exam application in that there is a question and four options. But when i am trying to create radiobuttons i could not bind options with radiobuttons. I tried using all three types of radiobuttons i.e single radiobuttons, group by index and group by key but the problem is the same
for(int j=0;j<4;j++)
IWDRadioButtonGroupByIndex radioButtonGroupByIndex = (IWDRadioButtonGroupByIndex)view.createElement    (IWDRadioButtonGroupByIndex.class,"RadioButtonGroupByIndex1"ij);
radioButtonGroupByIndex.bindTexts("Questions.option"+wdContext.nodeQuestions().getQuestionsElementAt(i).getOption());
radioButtonGroupByIndex.setColCount(1);
transparentContainer.addChild(radioButtonGroupByIndex);
The problem is I get the same set of options in all the questions.
I am confused at what code should i write in bindTexts in groupby index and bindSelectedKey in groupby key
Please help
Swapnil Indulkar

That's absolutely genius, Armin !
This didn't strike my mind. Wonderful solution.
However i have managed to achieve it in a bit complex way as compared to yours.
(I have hard-coded it for 3 questions with 4 options each.)
//Code in wdDoInit() of View
g_questionNode = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getContext().getRootNode().getChildNode("Questions", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION);
g_optionsNode = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getContext().getRootNode().getChildNode("Options", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION);
for(int i=0; i<3; i++){
g_questionNode.getNodeInfo().addAttribute("Question"+i,"com.sap.dictionary.string");
g_questionNode.getCurrentElement().setAttributeValue("Question"+i, "This is QuestionText["+ i+"] ?");
g_optionsNode.getNodeInfo().addAttribute("Option"+i,"com.sap.dictionary.string");
IModifiableSimpleValueSet optionsSet = g_optionsNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Option"+i).getModifiableSimpleType().getSVServices().getModifiableSimpleValueSet();
for(int j=0; j<4; j++){
optionsSet.put("Q"+i+"O"+j, "This is optionText[" +j +"] for QuestionText[" + i + "]");
//Code in wdDoModifyView()
if(firstTime){
IWDTransparentContainer rootContainer = (IWDTransparentContainer) view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");
for(int i=0; i<3; i++){
IWDLabel label = (IWDLabel) view.createElement(IWDLabel.class, "label_"+i);
rootContainer.addChild(label);
label.bindText(g_questionNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Question"+i));
label.setDesign(WDLabelDesign.EMPHASIZED);
IWDGridData labelGridData = (IWDGridData) label.createLayoutData(IWDGridData.class);
labelGridData.setCellBackgroundDesign(WDCellBackgroundDesign.PLAIN);
labelGridData.setHAlign(WDCellHAlign.CENTER);
IWDRadioButtonGroupByKey rbgbk = (IWDRadioButtonGroupByKey)view.createElement (IWDRadioButtonGroupByKey.class,"rbgbk_"+i);
rootContainer.addChild(rbgbk);
label.setLabelFor("rbgbk_"+i);
rbgbk.bindSelectedKey(g_optionsNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Option"+i));
IWDGridData rbgbkGridData = (IWDGridData) rbgbk.createLayoutData(IWDGridData.class);
rbgbkGridData.setCellBackgroundDesign(WDCellBackgroundDesign.PLAIN);
rbgbkGridData.setHAlign(WDCellHAlign.CENTER);
This works fine too.

• Dynamic role Assignment in Portal using Web dynpro Java?

Hi All,
We have following requirement for dynamic role assignment.
1) User Login to Portal.
2) User Clicks on Home Tab in Portal, through RFC/BAPI, get Role from Backend(ECC) and compare the role ID with Portal Object ID through UME.
Role gets assigned in Portal after comparison, if it exists in Portal.
Can you please let me know what all steps I need to do to complete the above assignment.
Thank you
Ravi

Thanks Tobias.
To be precise I will explian my requirement.
1) User Login ( User ID will be input to RFC)
2) RFC will get Role for that user ID from Backend(ECC) and return that role ID to Portal.
3) Now With the help of UME API, need to search role ID in Portal, If it exists, no action.
If Role ID does not exists, then it shuld assign that role in Portal.
Sorry for tedious comment.
I am a bit new to webdyn pro.
Can you please tell me each step i need to follow to complete the above requirement.
Many Thanks,

• Create a Table Dynamically in WEB Dynpro Java with diferent type of column

Hi everyone, I have a question if is possible to create a table dynamically in Web Dynpro Java?, depending of the RFC consults create the rows dynamically, ,this table must have diferent type of columns, for example link column (when the user click this link execute an action and show a adobe interactive form in another view), image column (show an image depending of the information)
Thank you everyone
Atte Israel

Hello,Israel.
Yes , it is possible through dynamic programming in wdModify of the View.
You can do this ,for example, using cell variants.
IWDTable tab = (IWDTable) view.getElement("TABLE_NAME");
IWDTableStandardCell cellV= (IWDTableStandardCell) view.createElement(IWDTableStandardCell.class,"TableStandardCell"+i);
cellV.setVariantKey("NotEditableVariant");
cellV.setCellDesign((WDTableCellDesign)wdContext.nodeTableDaysTitle().currentTableDaysTitleElement().getAttributeValue("CellDesign"+i));
IWDTextView textViewi= (IWDTextView) view.createElement(IWDTextView.class,"TextView"+i); // -- here you control the type of the object that is displayed in the cell
textViewi.bindText(dayAttrib);
cellV.setEditor(textViewi);
tabColumn.addCellVariant(cellV);
tab.addGroupedColumn(tabColumn,tab.numberOfGroupedColumns());
Using this code you can control even specific cells in the table and not only columns.
Hope this helps you,
Constantine

• How call key Function in WEB Dynpro Java?

Hi,
Somebody know how to call key Function(F1, F2, ... F12) in WEB Dynpro Java to launch and Event?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You can WDHotKey property to define the different keyboard shortcuts to enable the user to trigger events with key combinations.
When the user presses the key board shortcut defined as the hotkey then onAction event is triggered.
The keys F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8 and F9 are not supported, they call predefined functions provided by the Web Dynpro Framework.
The complete list of supported shortcuts is here:

• Advantages and dis advantages of web dynpro java

Hi Guys,
May i know what are the advantages and dis advantages of web dynpro java?
Regards,
Madhu

Hi Madhu,
Web Dynpro (WD) is a proprietary web application user interface technology developed by SAP AG and exists in a Java (Web Dynpro for Java, WDJ or WD4J) and an ABAP (Web Dynpro ABAP[1] , WDA) flavor. Both have in general the same functionality, but usually one flavor is improved after the other, so temporary one flavor is more advanced than the other. Hence, the decision for one of the two flavors shall be based on organizational and business circumstances, but not on functionality.
WD follows an adapted MVC pattern and a model driven development approach ("minimize coding, maximize design") with a large number of dedicated hooks in generated code to place custom coding. It is intended for business applications that shall follow standardized UI principles, connect to backend systems and be scalable.
Main advantages of Web Dynpro over other technologies
typed access for design time checks, e.g. navigation links and messages are accessed via types instead of string keys like in JSF
diverse services for backend access, like aRFC, JEE and Web Service data models
integration with SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe, which are interactive PDF forms, during design (same IDE) and run time (data sharing)
integration with business process management and business rules management (since NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP 1)
designed to support development big scale applications by adding multiple grouping layers on top of Java packages (DCs, SCs, products)
runs on different clients e.g. web browser, mobile device, widget engine
comes with a big collection of UI elements providing a wealth of functionality and only have to be configured but not programmed
Main disadvantages
proprietary, running only on SAP servers
less flexible due to support for multiple clients (i.e. custom html is not possible). To reduce the limitations, several measures have been taken. For example, WD supports so-called "islands" for e.g. flash applications that enrich the Web Dynpro UI element collection by rich UI elements. This disadvantage doesn't seem so serious but in fact basic features that user expect to receive cannot be implemented (e.g. coloured rows in table, colours in general, advanced aligning of simple UI elements (due to nonexistence of more complicated ones), selecting multiple rows in tree-like tables (this is due to preserving basic concept of WD) and many more). Having the flash feature means that developer completely avoids WD UI (And thus cannot use other features).
rendering speed in browser for larger tables (>1000 rows)
The designtime and runtime environment is part of SAP NetWeaver 7.0[2] (also known as Netweaver 2004s) and following releases.
The name comes after the original Dynpro library, whose name meant "Dynamic Program".

• How to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.

Hi,
I have created a web dynpro application, which is running inside portal. I have created a role called "R1". Inside role R1, i have created 3 workset W1, W2 and W3. and inside each workset i have some pages and iviews.
My requirement is when user logins to the portal , and when he clicks on role R1 for the first time, a login page should come (so that we can do revalidation), and when he enters his password again in that login page , then only workset W1, W2 and W3 should be visible/accessible to him and after successful revalidation, if he clicks again on role R1, in that particular portal session, than that login page should not come.
for this, i thought i will set a variable in portal session, whenever user successfully revalidated himself, and if after successful revalidation he clicks again on role R1, i will check in doinit method of webdynpro whether variable is set or not (which i already set on successful revalidation), and if it is set then i will do Donavigation else i will present login page to the user.
Can anyone tells me how to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.
thanks

Hi,
Try this:
WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key, value)
WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key)
Ex:
WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1","Value1");
String value1=WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1").toString();

• Problem when generating an non-interactive form in Web Dynpro java.

Hi,
I'm trying to create a PDFDocument using a creation context in java. Everything works fine when the Interactive property of the creation context is set to true. When I change it to false however, the Web dynpro application hangs and eventually throws the following exception:
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
at java.net.SocketInputStream.socketRead0(Native Method)
at java.net.SocketInputStream.read(SocketInputStream.java:129)
at java.io.BufferedInputStream.fill(BufferedInputStream.java:183)
at java.io.BufferedInputStream.read(BufferedInputStream.java:201)
at com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxm.soap.HTTPSocket.readLine(HTTPSocket.java:806)
I'm wondering why this exception occurs when i'm generating a non interactive form and never appears when i'm generating a form with the Interactive property set to true.
Any ideas?
Edited by: Arjan Nieuwenhuizen on Feb 25, 2008 3:24 PM

Yeah I know changing the form properties will solve my problem, but since i'm developing a training for Interactive Forms in Web Dynpro Java, I wanted to figure out why the (static / non-interactive) combination didn't work, turned out to be a template problem, which i still didn't figure out, except the fact that having flowed content on your template is not the problem.
My ideas about your question:
When we have the layout of an Interactive Form, its clear if it's meant to be static or dynamic, we don't know however, if it's interactive or non-interactive.
I don't think we can judge a layout to have an Interactive or non-interactive purpose, can depend on the situation in which the same form is shown/used:
- One moment it can be interactive, e.g. user is filling in the form, can enter data etc.
- Next moment it can be non-interactive, e.g. form is shown to another user.
So it's more the scenario/situation that determines if the form is interactive or non-interactive.

• SUBMIT(to SAP) Button in Adobe Interactive Forms (Web Dynpro Java)

Hi ,
I m using Adobe Interactive Forms with Web Dynpro Java
But submit to SAP button is not working
i m using NWDS 7.2 with adobe lifecycledesigner 6.0
with adobe reader 9.0
when i click submit to SAP button in interactive form nothing happens and
data is not transfered into web dynpro Context
Can anybody help me out................

Hi Adi,
The evniorment and versions you posted seems to be quite scattered, make sure all are of compatible and to the lates.
Anyways this was not the reason for your problem.
Can you tace if the button click event is triggered ....?
1) when the PDF is published can you see any of the fields editable...? reason behind is generally when you create a form in ADLC it comes up in static PDF format if its so you need to make it dynamic.
I dont know if adding the webdynpro script to your form might fix.

• UWL : Web Dynpro (Java) View

Hi All,
I'm new in development/configuration of UWL. Some requirements I already could realize. But now I'm I need to implement a totally new inputfield to the task creation and some business logic behind some actions e.g. an already filled out assignment to a portal group if a task type is selected.
The only way I see is to re-create and customize the development components from the server node. Please, could you give me some hints to solve this issue in an easier way?
Thank you !!!!!
Laslo

Hello Saar,
Thanks for reply.
I have already referred & seen these links and they doesn't suit to my problem.
Below link from your suggestion talks about custom UWL Connectors, which is not the case with me. I have a SAP Standard AlertConnector.
And code extract I mentioned in my question is already working fine and able to retrieve workitems from other connectors, except this AlertConnector and that's the problem.
http://help.sap.com/javadocs/nwce/ce71/uw/uwl%20custom%20connector%20api.pdf
Also, I couldn't get clear idea from javadocs about how to read workitems from "AlertConnector".
Issue:
I have created a Web Dynpro Java DC that renders custom view for Portal UWL.
I am using UWL API to read workitems from various connectors. This is working fine so far.
Now I created a AlertConnector and alerts are appearing in SAP standard UWL view under "Alerts" tab, but they don't appear in my custom UWL application.
Is there any special way to read "alerts" from UWL API?
Following is code extract that I use currently: -
UWLView uwlView = uwlService.getViewManager(uwlContext).getView("DefaultView", uwlContext);
IUWLItemManager itemManager = uwlService.getItemManager(uwlContext);
QueryResult queryResult = itemManager.getItemsForView(uwlContext, uwlView, null, mycompoundExpression);
ItemCollection results = queryResult.getItems();

also go through the following
Using the FunctionKey
Use
The FunctionKey allows you to trigger a Web Dynpro action using a specific key on the mobile device. In the following example, this UI element is used to navigate to another view via a specific key.
Prerequisites
● The SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio is installed on your computer, and you can use it to create your mobile Web Dynpro application
● You have access to a SAP NetWeaver Application Server, where you are running the Web Dynpro application
● You are using a Pocket PC with special scanning equipment manufactured by Intermec Technologies or Symbol Technologies
● You have created two views in a Web Dynpro project and called them StartingView and TargetView.
Procedure
1. Navigate to the StartingView and double-click the view or choose Edit from the context menu.
2. Insert the mobile UI element FunctionKey.

• Calling Remote-Enabled JAVA Module from Web Dynpro Java

Anyone have a clue how I can call a Remote-Enabled JAVA Module in ECC from a Web Dynpro Java app? I'm on Portal 7.0. When I try and create an Adaptive RFC model in NWDS and put in the Function Module name (CFG_API_FIND_KNOWLEDGEBASES) or its Function group, that RFC is not returned for me to import. Can I not use this method to get at this function?
(I CAN call this function module and run it from the old SAP Business Connector software. That, however, does not help me get it into my Web Dynpro app.)

If anyone stumbles upon this thread, the long and short answer is you can't call a Remote-Enabled JAVA module in SAP from Web Dynpro Java.....using Adaptive RFC.
You can, however, if you create your own session and function call directly in Java code and give up on being able to use Adaptive RFC.
