Dynamic Select One Lookup List restricted to a subset of values

I'm working with JDeveloper 10.1.3. trying to put an application together that needs two Lookup List the first is a Manufacturer Name and the second is items manufactured based on the selection of the first Lookup List choice (Manufacturer Name). I have two tables that make a nice master-detail relationship also I have a view that has the manufacturer name and what they manufacture but I just can't get a handle on how to set up the second lookup list to provide the subset of manufactured items based on the selection made in the first list. So the basic question is how do you restrict a Dynamic Select One Lookup List to a subset of values from the table based on a value stored in the application (on the page or in a bean). This has me stumped and any help would be greatly appreaicated.

I am not sure if you have tried using the partial trigger on your second lookup list.
Here's an overview of how you can do it @
1.) Create a binding on the page to keep the selected value from your first LOV.
2.) Set autoSubmit = true on your first LOV ) [ so that your binding in the first step gets populated upon selection]
3.) Set up an ID value for the first LOV component.
4.) Set up the partial trigger property on your second LOV to the ID of your first LOV.
5.) In your page definition, use the value from the binding in step1 to assign value to any where clause parameters on the view object for your second LOV.

ADF Dependent select one choice list

i have two lists in my page, and the second one takes value from the first, but it is not working, the second list is empty always whatever i select in the first one.

ADF web select one choice list return value

how can i make a choice list that displays a value but return another value
and then use it as a parameter in a method for a button

Hi,
After creating the selectOneChoice based on the steps you followed, you will need to follow up with the steps below.
1) Open up your Page Definition file. In the Structure panel, right click on bindings --> Insert inside bindings --> Generic bindings --> attributeValues.
2) Under Data Source, select your iterator value used to bind the selectOneChoice component. The attribute should be your value ID (example: productId) that you want to be returned by selecting the selectOneChoice component.
In the backing bean, you get the actual value of the selected item in the list in step #2 by resolving the expression (example) #{bindings.productId.inputValue}.

Dynamic select for in list

I want the following query has same return as select * from table1:

JSF select one menu keeps giving me summary=Validation Error: Value is not

I'm using five select menus in a JSP file.
the other four are populated whenever the first menu changes its value (ValueChange event).
after the menus are populated, i select a item in each menu and submit it.
but when i submit the form i get the following error:

Since you are using a request scoped bean things work like this:
1. You fetch your list, for example from a database, with a bean that is put in request scope.
2. You populate your select component on the jsp page.
3. You select an item in the select component and submits the form.
4. When the form is submitted the selected value has to be validated against the list it was chosen from. Since you retrieved the list from a bean in request scope the list isn't available when you submit the form and the getter for the list probably returns an empty list which gives you the validation error.
What you have to do is to get the list the item was selected from when submitting the form. This can be done in different ways. Either you keep your list in the session between the requests or you get the list from your data storage again. This is a horrible "feature" with JSF and from what I know it's impossible to turn this validation off.

How to refresh the list of select one choice which is inside a table?

Hello I am using Jdeveloper Version 11.1.2.1.0.
The table is a normal table that is made to look like a treeTable.
For some rows are or can be parents with Parent_vo_group_id = null and other are children with parent_vo_group_id = vo_group_id of the parent...
If a children changes its parent_vo_group_id to null it can become a parent as well.
I am having a select one choice inside a table column. The list comes from the same table with column Name:

How to get selected values from Select Many Choice List

Hello All -
I am using Select Many Choice List and wish to get the selected values in the bean. I have created method binding for valueChangeListener for the choice list, but not sure how to get the selected values.
I am facing problem in getting values from valueChangeEvent.getNewValue(). For Select One Choice List this returns int, but some list type object for Select Many Choice List.
When I try to print the value it comes something like:
ArrayList newVal = new ArrayList(Arrays.asList(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue()));
System.out.println(newVal);
[Ljava.lang.Integer;@870ad8
Could anyone please suggest how to type cast and use the return of valueChangeEvent.getNewValue() to get the selected values.

ADF Table sorting on Select One choice column display value

Hi Team,
We are using an ADF with EJB application.
I have an ADF table, which has a select one choice in it. (The Select one Choice list elements are populated from a java bean).
Presetnly, when we perform the sorting on this SOC column, the table is getting sorted based on SOC value not on the Label.
How to sort this column based on the SOC Lable filed.
Please help us.

Hi Frank,
I took a transient column in the Entity and populated this column with the LOV label value.
In the ADF added this coulmn to the table and set it is rendered false.
Set the sortable property of the lov column to the new trasient column.
Now the sort will work with the label filed (Transient Column)

How to prevent flushing out the value in Select one choice on page refresh

Hi All,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4.0. In my page fragment I am using select one choice ADF component. I have a requirement that unless one fills all details on 1st fragment he/she cant move to next fragment.
So validations are there to check that mandatory fields filled or not. If not than I am showing message to fill the mandatory fields when user press on "Review " Button.
But the value in select one choice is getting cleared while other input values like date fields or input text are not(The input information stored in static variables)
How can I prevent flushing out of select one choice value .

Kanika,
You don't have value property set due to which the selected value doesn't get stored and looses its value on refresh.
When you drop attribute as select one choice on page, the value property get bounded to some value, did you remove it intentionally?
If so, can you try keeping the property and see if you see the intended behavior?

DYNAMIC SELECTION SCREEN uisng FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT

I am facing a problem regarding the dynamic selection screen using FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT and FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG .After entering the values in Dynamic Selections on pressing Enter, the values are getting distorted.For example if i gave the purchase order no as 0099994434 it is getting truncated to four digits no like 0099.
Its a bit urgent .Can any body help me out in resolving this isuue.

Dynamic select list with one static 'not_listed" option

Hi guys,
I want to create a dynamic select list with one static 'not_listed' option.
One possible alternative is to add the 'not_listed' record into database, but I really dont want to go that way unless there is no other way around.

As usual : "It depends"...
If you have a foreign key defined on that field, Scott's reply won't work - unless you define '0 - Not listed' in the database. You can use selec 'not listed' d, to_number(null) r from dual though...
Another - more declarative way - is in the on 'Edit Page Item' page, in the 'List of Values' region set 'Display Null' to 'Yes' and 'Null Display Value' to ' - Not listed - '.

How to make a lookup list in a response notification dynamic

Hi Experts,
I am implementing a custom workflow on ebusiness suite 11.5.10, I have a notification and one of the response attributes is a lookup list based on a static lookup type and several codes. I would like to make this lookup list dynamic i.e. based on a SQL statement, so that my users can update the list. Is there anyway of doing this?

Hi,
You might be able to do some kind of personalization or custom framework page to render the notification on screen, but there is nothing in Workflow that will enable you to do this.

Dynamic Select List in Reports

Hi,
I have come across solutions to implement dynamic Select Lists. But can the same be implemented in a report.
I have a report of 2 columns which are select lists. The Value of one depends of the other.
Can this be done?

Thanks for the Tip. However, couple of queries.
1) The first modification involves changing the query to : select lov_pkg.savekey() , colA, colB, ... But the function savekey takes a value.
Ideally, I need this function to be called while loading and when the first select list is changed. How can this be done.
2) Also, To make this change in query, I had to use (Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)) option. Now my Add Row button doesnt work? Can you tell me how that can be customized.

Dynamic select list crashes with php

HI All,
I can't seem to get a dynamic select list to work in
dreamweaver. It completly crashes everytime I try adding it to my
page. I found someone else in the forum who had the same problem
but no one ever responded. I've tried several things including
putting just the record set and dynamic select on it's own page
with no other code on it. It still crashes DW. I also tried coding
it myself by making a listmenu and modifying it so that the option
value equals a PHP echo of a value. It crashed there too. Does
anyone have a piece of code with a working dynamic select list that
uses a record set that I could look at? That way I can see where
I'm going wrong. All I'm trying to do is get a simple drop down
select list of employee names so someone can choose their name to
get commission. It's a one table, 2 fields (first & last name)
record set.
Using DW CS3, php & MySQL.,windows XP Pro
Any help would be really appreciated!

Creating dynamic select list

I have a dynamic select list populated by site names and URLs from a map; when a user clicks on an entry the site name and URL will fill two text boxes. There are also buttons to add, update, and delete entries. These buttons lead to actions within my JPF file.
          When I select an entry to delete, the script runs a delete SQL statement again my Ora db instance, then the page content is repopulated. I want to know how come when I do that I always get the sequence ID of the just deleted entry at the end of my select list.

OK I got it working... Mostly... I don't know if it was a combination of changes that made the difference, but I'll put down what I did. First, I switched my select object in the form bean into just a string type from a string array (it was allowing the selection of one entry anyways). Second, rather than just blanking out the options map, I also blanked out the select object [eg form.setSelect("")].
          Now when I select an entry and click delete, the resulting select list is short one visible element. However, you can still select the blank spot where that last entry used to be. However, this is not a huge issue for me now; I will investigate this at a later time.
