Dynamic Service Invocation from OSB

Hi,
     I have around 50 services in SOA Suite.  I have to invoke these 50 services dynamically from OSB service based on the input parameters.
     For example, The OSB proxy service will receive the input in the below format
                       <ServiceName>POService</ServiceName>
                      <OperationName>CreatePO</OperationName>
                       <ServiceURL>http://hostA:8011/PO/POService</POService>
                        <Payload>{XML Payload}</Payload>
     Based on the input, it will invoke the  POService using the ServiceURL, OperationName and the XML Payload.
     To implement this, i created proxy based on WSDL for the above message structure. I also created one BS based on Any SOAP.  The proxy will do the below activity
                     1) Extract all the details (url, payload, operation name) from the input
                     2) Replace the XMLpayload with $body
                     3) Use Route action to route it to BS. In the Route Request, i'm doing the below
                              a) Using Routing Option to Set the URI using <ServiceURL>
                              b) Using Insert Action setting the OperationName in $outbound/service/operation
When i tested the service, i'm able to dynamically invoke the target BPEL services whichever has only one operation in the WSDL. But it is failing when i invoke the services which has multiple operation in the wsdl. The request is going to BPEL service and failing with "Operation Unknown" error though i could see in the trace the operation is set correctly in the $outbound
Pls. let me know if anybody has done this or any idea on what is the issue here
Thanks!
Suresh

$operation is mapped into HTTP SOAPAction header (for SOAP 1.1) in business services. Biz service uses the associated WSDL to do the mapping.
Hence, if the $operation contains something that is not in the Biz WSDL, the SOAPAction header is not formed, and the backend service cannot figure our the operation.
The backends that have only one operation, may not check the SOAPAction header, hence those do work.
You'll have to form SOAPAction HTTP header manually, based on some mapping table that you'll have to create for those services.

  • RESTful webservices invocation from OSB.

    Can some one please explain the best way to develop the OSB service to invoke the Restful services.
    1. Only proxy service is enough to handle the request, no need of business service?
    2. when moving the code from one env to other, we use a business service to update endpoint url which is the common approach we generally follow, to make the osb service loosely coupled. how to use the business service when invoking the restservice? does we have the base uri value in the transport url and will get appended with the relative-uri value which we frame as part of the request in the outbound variable in the proxy settings?
    3. when invoking the rest service do we need to append all the request message to the url itself or the request can be passed separately as request body and the main rest uri will have only the key fields as part of the relative-uri?
    4. If we receive huge request message does the URL support the entire request?
    5. how the response/error will be returned when calling the Restful webservice?
    I am assuming this appraoch. Can some one please confirm does this approach works with RESTful service invocation from OSB.
    Request processing:
    Source System request-> Proxy Service -> Transformation to end system specific -> Business service (with base-uri -> http://mainappl.com/web/cmr/{relative-uri from outbound transport}) -> endsystem
    Response processing:
    endsystem Response/Error -> Business Service -> Proxy Service -> transformation to source system specific -> source system.
    Please advice which is the best approach to follow while invoking the RESTful webservices from OSB.
    Thanks..

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update. Can you please explain the above mentioned approach works or how it should be?
    I have one requirement, can some one explain the implementation for this:
    I have one element which is of type unbound. I need to map this element to a single enelement value by separating each element value with a ;, before that I need to check wheteher this element(s) are present in the request then need to appened all these element values to a single element and the end of this element need to append default values.
    Scenario:
    <student>
    <name>asd</name>
    <address>
    <street>street1</street>
    <street>street2</street>
    <street>street3</street>
    ||
    ||
    </address>
    to be mapped it to:
    <student>
    <field name="NAME">asd</field>
    <field name="ADDRESS">street1;street2;street3;default1;default2;default3</field>
    </student>
    Here need to check if street names are present in the request xml, if yes ned to assign it to ADDRESS as mentioned above if street names present or not need to append the default values at the end to the ADDRESS field.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Dynamic service invocation using ws addressing reply-to

    Hi,
    I am sending soap request contains ws addressing header with message id, reply-to values to invoke a async bpel process.
    So can I invoke a web service inside async bpel using input reply-to value dynamically?
    Do I need to create a dynamic partner link using invoke or can I use callbackclient?
    Please share your inputs.
    Thanks.

    Bharat,
    You dont need a Business Event setup to invoke a BPEL process from PL/SQL unless you have a special case and you need to process the response from the BPEL process in a separate thread (or in background)..
    For a straight call to BPEL process from PL/SQL, here is a sample script -
    function "MYTEST0" return varchar2 AS
    soap_request varchar2(30000);
    soap_respond varchar2(30000);
    http_req utl_http.req;
    http_resp utl_http.resp;
    resp XMLType;
    i integer;
    helpStr varchar2(30000);
    BEGIN
    soap_request:= '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''UTF-8''?>
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="
    http://xmlns.oracle.com/TestWS">
    <env:Body>
    <ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    <ns0:input>abc</ns0:input>
    </ns0:TestWSProcessRequest>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    /* the BPEL process name is TestWS */
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ( 'http://hostname:7777/orabpel/default/TestWS/1.0'
    , 'POST'
    , 'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml');
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request));
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', 'process');
    utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request);
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req);
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond);
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(soap_respond);
    resp:= resp.extract('/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/child::node()',
    'xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"');
    helpStr := '';
    i:=0;
    loop
    helpStr := helpStr || substr(soap_respond,1+ i*255,250);

    I don't know if you fixed it already by this time or not. But here is my findings anyway, to be able to inject the security header correctly in any SOA Gateway service, you need to have your Mobile Application Secured, meaning that there is a prompt for username/password when you open it.
    Then you will have to make a Proxy service for the webservice you are using from apps. And you must create it with a SOAP Handler also and write below sample code in the handler to inject the security header in the SOAP call. At last, you are going to deploy this proxy service to your Application Server.
    These steps were taken on a Glassfish server not Weblogic. I think there is an easy way for this if you are using Weblogic..
    Sample handler is below:
    package com.mobile.xxsoap;
    import java.util.HashSet;
    import java.util.Set;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
    import javax.xml.soap.Name;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPEnvelope;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPFactory;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPHeader;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.MessageContext;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.soap.SOAPHandler;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.soap.SOAPMessageContext;
    public class CustomSOAPHandler implements SOAPHandler<SOAPMessageContext> {
        private static final String AUTH_PREFIX = "wsse";
        private static final String AUTH_NS =
            "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd";
        public boolean handleMessage(SOAPMessageContext context) {
            try {
                SOAPEnvelope envelope = context.getMessage().getSOAPPart().getEnvelope();
                SOAPFactory soapFactory = SOAPFactory.newInstance();
                SOAPElement wsSecHeaderElm = soapFactory.createElement("Security", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                SOAPElement userNameTokenElm = soapFactory.createElement("UsernameToken", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                SOAPElement userNameElm = soapFactory.createElement("Username", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                userNameElm.addTextNode("redsam");
                SOAPElement passwdElm = soapFactory.createElement("Password", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                Name passwdTypeAttr = soapFactory.createName("Type");
                passwdElm.addAttribute(passwdTypeAttr,
                                       "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#PasswordText");
                passwdElm.addTextNode("123456");
                userNameTokenElm.addChildElement(userNameElm);
                userNameTokenElm.addChildElement(passwdElm);
                wsSecHeaderElm.addChildElement(userNameTokenElm);
            } catch (Throwable e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            return true;
        public Set<QName> getHeaders() {
            return new HashSet<QName>();
        public boolean handleFault(SOAPMessageContext messageContext) {
            return true;
        public void close(MessageContext context) {
    I hope it is clear now...

  • OSB Dynamic service call or dynamic route and transactions

    Hello,
    I've got the following problem in my OSB architecture for asynchronous incomming services.
    OSB version is 10.3.1
    ConnectionFactory is XA
    Problem domain:
    Dynamic service call or dynamic route within transaction boundary
    Elements within transaction:
    1.     JMS Queue ->
    2.     Upper Proxy Service (De-queue) ->
    3.     Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) ->
    4.     Business Service (Data Service) ->
    5.     Database Adapter->
    6.     Database
    Dynamic element
    Upper Proxy Service (De-Queue) must be able to determine which Lower Proxy Service (Canonical Service) has to be called on the basis of the message taken from the JMS Queue without losing the transaction (this doesn’t work yet).
    Already tried possible solutions:
    •     Make a service call dynamic by setting the $inbound name attribute. This results in a this property is read-only error.
    •     Use a Dynamic route instead of a service-call. This results in a loss of transaction. The message is deleted from the Queue without taking failure or success into account.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with a quality of service set to exactly once in the header. This seems to be ignored, results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic route with an explicit reply with failure for errors. Results in a loss of transaction.
    •     Use a Dynamic Publish. This doesn’t fit the required flow because it has no response.
    I hope someone can shed some light on this because I'm at a total loss. I found some references in the forum to what seems to be the same problem but without definite answers. A work-around is also a viable answer.
    Regards,
    Bas Mul

    Hi,
    I'll try to clarify.
    Upper proxy dequeues a message.
    Depending on a value of a specific tag within the message a canonical proxy service (out of 5 at the moment but this numer could increase) has to be called (and be dynamic transform transformed to the format of the specific canonical).
    The canonical service must then pass the message to a database adaper's business service which is responsible for the database insert/update/read.
    If something in the chain from dequeue to database action goes wrong the message may not dissapear from the queue.
    Somehow a dynamic route in the message flow between dequeue proxy and canonical proxy breaks the transaction.

    Hi i have followed the following steps which is specified in this thread
    You need to follow below steps...
    add a java parameter to the OSB server. Go to domains\osb_domain\bin folder and edit the setDomainEnv file and add this line to this file. set JAVA_PROPERTIES=-Dplatform.home=%WL_HOME% -Dwls.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dweblogic.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0
    Step 2 is to replace the bpel jars in the bpel transport ear. Go folder osb_10.3\lib\transports and open bpel10gtransport.ear and replace the following jar files orabpel.jar, orabpel-common.jar , xmlparserv2.jar and oc4jclient.jar with the ones you can find in the soa suite 10.1.3 home.
    But still i am getting the error.
    I am using WLS (10.0).Is it compatible with bpel-10g protocol, because i have already called a sync BPEL process with http protocol and it worked?This thread talks about WLS(9.2)

    You need to download the 64bit version of weblogic installer and use a 64 bit jdk when installing weblogic. This will make sure the 64 bit ddl's are generated for you..The generated native libraries will be in Oracle_HOME/wls_103/server/native/<OS> folder.. You can check this directory whether 64 bit ddl's are available after you fix the problem.

    Please disable the host name verification at Weblogic (all OSB servers). Certificate CN (*.oracle.com) is not same as server host name (siebelhostname.oracle.com).

  • Failed Calling A X.509 Certificate Secured Web Service From OSB

    Hi,
    I have wsdl resource, business service and proxy service setup in OSB 11.1.1.6 on Linux. The business service will consume a X.509 certificate secured web service running on a remote server.
    Below is my approach:
    The consumer of the proxy service of OSB signs its saop request header.
    My OSB proxy service authenticates the signature and forward the request to business service.
    The business service signs the outbound soap request header. (To do this I configured the keystore in Security Provider Configuration of my SOA_domain in Enterprise Manager. Also I applied Web Service Policy of Service Client type to the business service.)
    This is not working yet. Not sure if my approach is correct or not?
    Thank you,
    Eric

    I validated the keystore, all the certificates used and the value for keystore.sig.csf.key / value for keystore.recipient.alias. They are all as expected. Restarted the server. Still failed for OSB to invoke the remote secured web service, but worked if only use soapUI to invoke the same remote secured web service directly.
    The error message is:
    General security error (WSSecurityEngine: No crypto property file supplied for decryption); nested exception is org.apache.ws.security.WSSecurityException: General security error (WSSecurityEngine: No crypto property file supplied for decryption)
    In the soap request / reponse message shown in the OSB Test Console, there seems to be two signature sections in the header and encryption section although I tried not to encrypt the soap request. I am using Web Service Client Policy "calpers/wss11_x509_token_with_message_integrity_client_policy_osb" which was created based on "oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_client_policy". The difference between the two policies is my policy not to sign nor to encrypt entire body.
    In the "Message Signing Setting" section, I unchecked the "Include Entire Body" and left the three default namespaces under the Header Elements.
    In the "Message Encrypt Setting" section, I unchecked the "Include Entire Body" and also left the one default namespace under the Header Elements.
    I don't know how to attach document here, so i add long saop message here.

  • [OSB1031] how to call a RESTful service from OSB with authentication

    Hi all,
    I called successfully a RESTful service from OSB.
    We have a business service, named OrderTracer, that wraps the call to the RESTful service.
    The RESTful service requires an authentication so we are trying to find out how the OSB business service should authenticate itself against the RESTful service.
    In addition the RESTful service accepts username/password coded as base64.
    So we defined a Service Account with static resource type and we added the reference to this service account in the business service.
    But when the OSB business service calls the RESTful service, we got an error:
    <fault>
    <con:fault xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/context">
    <con:errorCode>BEA-380000</con:errorCode>
    <con:reason>Unauthorized</con:reason>
    <con:location>
    <con:node>RouteNode</con:node>
    <con:path>response-pipeline</con:path>
    </con:location>
    </con:fault>
    </fault>
    Does anyone have any hint ?
    Any clue would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance

  • Look for services in OSR from OSB

    Hi everyone,
    I was wondering if there is a wsdl of OSR that allow me to access the services information from a proxy service in Oracle Service Bus. I tried with Inquiry wsdl but didn't work. I want to get the information of a service registered in OSR from the service bus. Is it possible?

  • [OSB1031] how to call a RESTful service from OSB

    Hi all,
    I need to call a RESTful service from OSB.
    The RESTful URL service is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer and has been implemented in IIS.
    The service accepts a xml string message as input and returns an HttpStatusCode.
    So I started defining a business service (named OrderTracer):
    Service Type: Any XML Service
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    Or should I define instead a business service (named OrderTracer2) as following ?
    Service Type = Messaging Service
    Request Message Type = None
    Response Message Type = Text
    Endpoint URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/api/ordertracer
    HTTP Request Method:POST
    When I try to test the business service (the first one named OrderTracer) from OSB test console I got an error:
    <con:metadata xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/test/config">
    <tran:headers xsi:type="http:HttpResponseHeaders" xmlns:http="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports/http" xmlns:tran="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/transports" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    Could I test that RESTful service from business service test console or should I test it from a service callout within a proxy service ?
