Dynamic table generation for Employee Schedule Project

Hi,
I am new to Jave programming and attempting to teach myself Java using the Sun tutorials & these forums. As a first step of learning, I want to do a Automated Employee Schedule Project in Java. (JSP)
There are two main parts of the project. The first part will be a table with the employees listed down the left, the days of the week across the top, and with each cell being that employee's shift for the day. There are four different types of shift in a day ( M- Morning, R- Regular, A- Afternoon and N- Night).
The second part will allows the user to enter in a new employee or display/edit an existing employee's information, including a list of scheduling constraints, like can?t work in Morning shift / Night shift. Apart from that number of employee in a shift may vary based on situation.
Could you please help me to understand the flow for creating this Automated Employee Schedule project?

I need the logic as to how to generate the shift plan. Could you tell me how to get about creating this dynamic table and any idea what i should take as baseline? I was thinking to read the employees from the database and take them as input for the first column. and the number of days as the column list. Can you tell me if this is the correct approach?

I am attempting to teach myself Java using the Sun tutorials (mostly DiveLog) and these forums. So far, things are going well.
My application is a scheduling program for my current boss. I work in retail, and the app would (ideally) faciliate creating the weekly schedules. I am using Swing to generate the windows and such.
There are two main parts to the app, each corresponding to a tabbed pane. The first part will be a table with the employees listed down the left, the days of the week across the top, and with each cell being that employee's shift for the day. Totals for hours worked that week will be the farmost right column and totals for hours of coverage that day will be the bottom row. The second part of the app allows the user to enter in a new employee or display/edit an existing employee's information, including a list of scheduling constraints (e.g., can't work mornings Tu/Th because of class).
My intuition is that the schedule table and the list of scheduling constraints should be dynamically generated and displayed depending on the number of employees and the number of constraints. It would also seem that both parts of the application need access to the current set of data encompassing all employees and their information. As I am just starting, the work I have done so far has been in the employee info section where I am in the process of implementing an MVC architecture with the model as a sort of employee datagram.
The questions....
1. How do I draw tables with a dynamic number of rows? I want the scheduler table to have a row for each employee and have the number of employees not hardcoded in. With the list of scheduling constraints, could I just have Swing draw each new row from a loop that counts down the number of constraints?
2. What is the smart move regarding having multiple parts of the app/GUI access employee data? Would I just load the data into an object when the app starts and have the two parts access the info via 'get' functions? (And subsequently have the second part of the app be able to edit the data via 'set' functions and then tell the first part of the app update itself?)
3. Is it appropriate to use reading and writing to and from a file for this sort of activity? (As opposed to a database of some sort.) The DiveLog app uses object serialization, and I'm feeling sketchy in this area, particularly with accessing specific pieces of data from whatever gets read from a file. If the user selects an employee from a JComboBox, how do I take that selection and grab the right object from the stuff that's been read back from a file? Similarly with the scheduling table.

Dynamic Select Query including Dynamic Tables with For all Entries

Hello everyone,
I need to create a select query which involves using of Dynamic Tables.
Suppose I have a dynamic table <d1> which consist of let say 10 records.
Now i need to make a select query putting data into another dynamic table <d2>
CONCATENATE keyfield '=' '<d1>' INTO g_condition SEPARATED BY space.
CONCATENATE g_condition '-' keyfield INTO g_condition.
SELECT * FROM (wa_all_tables-name) INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE <d1>

But it is giving dump.

I've never used dynamically changing popup items variable before, and I'm not sure it will work(?)
But, if it's displaying a long string, it does not sound like 'items' is being assigned a proper table yet.
I don't know what you mean by a "chunk" of values. I assume you mean table.
In any case, if SYPNEventResults[1].title is a string, then SYPNEventResults[1].value can be any legal lua type.
Likewise for SYPNEventResults[2], SYPNEventResults[3], ...
If you can index/display the title with this syntax, e.g. LrDialogs.message( SYPNEventResults[1].title ), then the popup should be initialized thusly:

if a function is returning multiple values, then to get it into a table "array", do this:

I am using a table a981 and fetching data in internal table but the table has a fieil Country whose technical name is ALAND in dev and LAND1 in production.Now i cannot use LAND1 as it wont let me to activate the report and if i use ALAND i cannot move the request to production as it fails. So how can i achive dynamic table field in the select query based on server.My query is-

Material po text repeating in a table loop for delivery schedules

Hello,
i am displaying a purchase order in a smart form. In the main area of the table(where i am displayin the material and the delivery schedules) after displayin the material i have created a loop node in which i am displayin the delivery schedules(against each material). Inside the loop i have a text node in which i am displaying a 'material po text'. What is happening is, the 'material PO text' is repeating for every delivery schedule (cuz its inside the loop, so every time the loop iterates the text is repeated).
I want to have a condition or an event by which i can display the 'material PO text' once for every material.
NOTE: the 'material PO text' to be displayed is inside the loop(for delivery schedules)

Ok just forget whatever is written above:
Just follow the steps below:
1. declare a global variable called Last_material.
2. Inside the loop in the text node where you are printing the material PO text -> goto the conditions tab -> give a condition -> itab-matnr ne last_material.
3. create a code node(program lines) just after the loop node. Assign the material number you are printing(itab-matnr) to Last_Material.
This should solve your problem..

Dynamic table height for Printed PO Report

I have created a RTF template for Printed Purchase Order report using Microsoft Word. The template has Header and Line information. I have two questions.
1) Lines are printed in Table format. I also print header level notes in Line Section.
If the header notes are blank, I want the line information (line #, Item Number, Description, quantity etc) to be moved to line1. How do I acheive this?
I want to dynamically adjust the Table height based on the information printing in the line section. The table has two rows. One for Header notes and one for Line information.
2) Header notes field is placed in Description column of Line Table (MS word). Currently Header notes are printing within the Description column as wrapped text. I want to print Header notes in one line. How do I expand this field to print in one line?

Even I faced the same problem, however I have found a workaround to come out of this problem.
My PO design template has 16 lines, I am counting the number of lines with data and subtracting the same from 16 and inserting that many empty rows to increase the table height.
I am pasting the code so that it will be useful for others.
Paste this code before LINES_ROW for-each loop. This will give the number of lines present.

Table name for order schedule line changes

There is a background program running periodically. Sometimes line items confirmed dates changed, we want to know a way that what line items for orders are changed. Is there any table, which would give the schedule changes information for the line item or there any other method to find it. Your answered much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Raji,
These are the standard tables where SAP stores change details for all areas of the system. The initial key is the object class and you need to enter this to get a quick access via SE16 - VERKBELEG is the key for sales documents. If you then have, for example, a sales order number you can enter that (but ensure you enter leading zeroes) and a table and/or field name.

Dynamic date parameters for a scheduled report that runs every day

I have a report that has input parameters for a start date and
end date. The report will be scheduled to run once a day at a
scheduled time. I need the report to automatically set the start
date and end dates when the report runs at the scheduled time.
When the report runs at the scheduled time, the end date needs
to be set to that time and the start date needs to be set to 24
hrs before the end date. I want the start and end dates to roll
forward automatically when the scheduled report runs each day. I
don't want any user intervention to change the start and end
dates every day. How can I do this in a report ?
Also, since the report is scheduled to run each day, I want the
output to be saved to a unique file name each time the report is
run as each day's report will report on the data only for that
day. How can I get the report to save to a unique file name
automatically each day ? Again, I don't want any user
intervention where they would set the output file name manually.

Try adding the following in the beforereport or beforepform
trigger, before the RETURN clause (TRUNC gets rid of the time
component of the date):

Dynamic table generation

Hi everybody !
I'm using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES free trial.
I have a set of data and two pdf. The first is a pdf i got on the web, which was created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES full version.
The second is the one i created with the trial version.
I'm trying to display several data like this:
    <history>
        <date>08/05/2009</date>
        <doc>doc</doc>
        <desc>desc</desc>
    </history>
    <history>
         <date>09/05/2009</date>
         <doc>doc</doc>
         <desc>desc</desc>
     </history>
With the first pdf it works fine. All the data are displayed.
But only one data is displayed with mine.
I checked all the options (like binding) and there are all the same on the two pdf.
So is there a limitation on the trial version with repeating data ??

No there are no limitations in the trial version, but the one you got from the web is probably saved as a dynamic PDF and yours is probably not saved that way.

How to Set Time Period for KM Scheduler

I have created one Par based application in which i have assigned one role to perticular id dynamically and i scheduled this task by using KM Scheduler. but this scheduler assigns this task for 1 mins or greater than 1 hrs. i wanted to run this task for every 10 mins or 20mins or 30 mins. actually i tried to edit the time table property for KM Scheduler for 10 mins but it not works it take 1 hrs and 10 mins.
so is there any way to edit this time table property and set scheduler time to 10 mins or 20 mins.

Hi Rahul,
If you want to run the scheduler for every 10 minutes, you can create your own timetable and assign it in the scheduler tasks.
Steps:
Goto Sytem Admin -> System Config -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Scheduler Time Table -> Time Table -> Click on New
You can find Scheduler Time Table in advanced options.
Specify the vales as mentioned below and save it:
ID: <any ID as you want>
Minute : 10
Time Zone : GMT+05:30 (Asia/Calcutta) India Standard Time
For other parameters, no need to specify any value.
Then go to Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks -> Your Scheduler Component -> Select the new timetable you have created for timetable parameter and click OK
I have specified timezone as IST time. You can change the time zone as you require.I have done this and its working for me.

Dynamic Table in PDF - only first row passed to the WD Java

I'm working with Web Dynpro for Java on WAS 2004s SP13, ADS for SP13 and LiveCycle Designer 7.1
I am facing a problem related to PDF-dynamic table generation.
I am creating the PDF form with a dynamic table, an empty row will be added, when ADD button is clicked, the row will be deleted when DELETE button is clicked. After form submit, only first row of the table is passed to the Web Dynpro. I'v tried to use different dataSource Context node structure without results. The structure diescribed in the thread [Dynamic Table - same data repeating in all rows; doesnt works for me. The same happend if i try to folow the advise from Wiki https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDJava/Creating%20Table%20in%20Interacting%20form%20using%20Web%20Dynpro.
Beside this, my DropDown list in the table column is not populated. I know how to populate the DropDown list outside of table. That's working fine. But the DropDown in the table just not respond on the click (is not going open). I'm pretty sure that this is a result of a Context node structure/binding issue.
Please suggest me how can i implement dynamic table and populate the data in table dropdown column.

You describe exactly my situation. The node which is bound to the table row has cardinality 1..n. Exactly Context structure is:
node dataSource (cardinality 1..1/ Singleton true) ======> dataSource of the Interactive Form
subnode TableList (cardinality 1..1/ Singleton true) ======> bound to the table in the Interactive Form
subnode TableWrapper (cardinality 1..n/ Singleton true) ======> bound to the table row in the Interactive Form
subnode TableData (cardinality 0..1/ Singleton false) ======> table data
attribute 1 ====> Context nodeattribute bound to the table row field
attribute 2
This structure is recommanded in the post that I found on the Forum (see the firs hyperlink in my firs post).
Is this structure correct? Why is not working?

Dynamic Tables: TableCellEditor depending on Context node value

Dear community,
I'm creating a dynamic table containing all the neccessary fields to display my context node in Java code but I have one requirement that I can not resolve by myself:
Depending on the value of a cell the TableCellEditor should be of type IWDTextView or LinkToURL. So if the context node value is e.g. the String "abc" I want to display a LinkToUrl containing a Target - such as http://www.abc.com - depending on the value, if the context node value is "def" I want to do nothing but display the value in a TextView.
As I am creating the dynamic table in advance and binding my Context node to it later, I don't know how to change the TableCellEditor at that point of time.
Right now I have the choice to either display all cells of the column as LinkToUrl TableCellEditor or display all cells as TextView - the dynamic table generation itself is no problem for me.
Does anyone have an idea on how to do that? Maybe it is not possible in WDJ right now?
