• Is it possible to pass dynamic values to custom tag?

Hi there, I'm trying to build a calendar custom tag so I can drop the calendar into an existing webpage easily.
I have got the calendar displaying on the page but the problem I have is when I try to create 'previous' and 'next' links. Is it possible to pass parameters to a custom tag that have dynamic values?
In PHP it would looks something like:
next pageWhen I create the calendar object I set it to the current date so when I try to increase or decrease the month (next/prev month) it doesn't work because the code is run again and hence setting the current date again.
Any ideas?
Cheers in advance

• Dynamic include inside custom tag body

I am trying to perform the dynamic include of another JSP from within the body of a custom tag using JSP1.1. It cannot be done using <jsp:include> since flush=true is required and thus an exception is thrown when called from inside the body of a custom tag - it can be done in JSP1.2 since flush does not have to be set to true but upgrading is not possible at this time.
Does anyone know of any custom tag or the code needed to perform this function with JSP1.1?
I am using Tomcat 3.2.3.
Using a RequestDispatcher and calling include() does not have the desired effect since the output is witten directly to the response and does not go into the correct position in the calling JSP.
I think the solution involves making a call to the included JSP (is it possible to use a RequestDispatcher that doesn't write directly to the page output stream?) and then append the response to the BodyContent object which is buffering the body content of the custom tag until the doAfterBody() method is called. Is it possible to create a dummy ServletResponse object to pass to the RequestDispatcher and then obtain the HTML response from the internal buffer?

I don't know if there is a solution to the problem you are having with JSP 1.1. If you look in the spec, it actually warns you that dynamic includes can not be done inside a body tag. The spec actually states that the included code shout write directly to the response and not to the BodyContent.
I was excited to find out they had fixed this in JSP 1.2, but they seem to have foiled me again. If my tag calls PageContext.include(), the spec says that include must call the flush method, which causes BodyContent to throw an exception since flush is not a valid call.

• Another question - using dynamic value body tag????

Can this be done?
I need to send an ASP dynamic value to my 'open browser
window' pop up.
Something like:
<body
onload="MM_openBrWindow('subscribe_pop.asp?email="&<%(Recordset1.Fields.Item("emailaddres s").Value)%>','','location=yes,width=400,height=200')">
Any ideas?
Thanks
Andy

Change what you have to this -

The downside to this method is that your popup link WILL NOT
BE MANAGED. If
you change the name of the page or the location of the page,
you will have
to change the value of this Template parameter, and then save
it to
propagate through the site. Then, of course, you will have to
upload your
local files again.
You do know that this popup will be blocked by modern
browsers, right?

This is a little hard to follow and want to make sure I understand:
You can pass the value from page1 to page2. But when you submit on page2 to another page, the value is null?
My first recommendation is: Pull all HTML code out of scriptlets that is using out.println.
But to answer your question, you don't have the hidden fields in the tag. They need to be places in the form tag in order for the form to pass the values when you submit.

• How to pass dynamic values to JDBC Database adapter in PureSQL operation?

I want to fetch the records from the table via JDBC database adapter with the criteria but I should not hardcode the values inside my query. I am using Execute by PureSQL operation. Values might change in future and it is the reason I should not hardcode the values and instead I should pass it dynamically.
This is my query:
SELECT FROM Table0 t0, Table1 t1 WHERE t0.Field1= 'ABC' AND t0.Field2= 'DEF' AND t0.Field3 = 'CBA' AND t1.FLAG IS NULL AND t1.Field1 = t0.Field4*
The values 'ABC', 'DEF', 'CBA', 'NULL' are not fixed and it can be changed. Hence, I need to pass the values for these fields dynamically. What must be passed in the query and where to pass the User Defined Values during the run time.
Please can anyone suggest how to resolve this. I am using SOA 11g.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Ensure that you use the Adapter Configuration Wizard to do the query modification suggested by Arik. This will allow the schema for the DB Adapter getting created automatically. Also revisit this schema to assure that the data types of the bind parameters (parameters with #) have been correctly populated in the schema.
You can get some help from this too although this doesn't fully match your use-case.

Eg: [CDATA[IBM-01 ~ DSHFSJDSJ ~ FGFGFJ, ~ VA 665665]] delimited by "~" char
Actual o/p:-
IBM-01 ~ DSHFSJDSJ ~ FGFGFJ, ~ VA 665665
Expected o/p is like :-
IBM-01
DSHFSJDSJ
FGFGFJ,
VA 665665
live cycle product does not interpret ~ as a newline character. Please suggest which character should be used instead inside CDATA section or if there is any other way to fix this?

I do not have any problem while using IE's XML parser
for XML+XSLT merging.That is because IE's parser does not implement XML correctly.
But when I use JAXP's Transformer object, it does not
preserve the new lines inside attribute values and
converts those into white spaces.That is exactly what the XML specifications say should happen.
>
----If you have text that contains newlines, you
should put it in an element, not in
----an attribute.
That would be my last solution. But I'd really hate
to change my logic just 'coz JAXP is not capable of
handling new lines inside attribute values. I may be
wrong... but If IE can keep those then there has to
be a way to do the same from server side merging....Sure. Write your own parser with the same bug in it. But you don't have any right to demand that other people supply you with parsers that work incorrectly.

• How to pass a dynamic value to jrxml file???

Hi all,
let me know a thing,How to pass a dynamic id value to the query in jrxml file.
<queryString>
select currency_id from currency
</queryString>
Because for every user,we have to generate a jasper report based on their loginId.So we have to maintain a dynamic value in jrxml file inorder to get records from table.
<queryString>
select currency_id from currency where cid="DynamicId value"
</queryString>
is the above mentioned tag possible???If it so kindly let me know how to do this from jsp page to jrxml file(Assume that jsp page calls jrxml file for report generation).
Thanks in advance,
sundar,

• Servlet with no dynamic code inside jsp pages

Hello,
I saw that a servlet is created even if there is no dynamic code inside jsp pages (scriplets & tags). Is it possible to avoid it on bea side ? (I am using portal 8).
By the way, do you know if is it possible to define apache in order to avoid to send to bea the jsp which have no dynamic code inside ?
thank you !

JSP's always generate a servlet on all web containers. Apache/Tomcat is no
different. If you have static content, make it an HTML page.

• Deferred expressions inside JSP tags

Hello!
I want to include custom JSP 2.0 tag into page.
Something like

<jsp:root version="2.0"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
xmlns:pk="urn:jsptagdir:/WEB-INF/tags">
<jsp:directive.page language="java"
contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" />
<f:view>
<pk:custTag bean="${beanInstance}"/>
</f:view>
</jsp:root>inside that tag I want to access my bean in JSF 1.2 way:

<jsp:root version="2.0" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html">
<jsp:directive.tag body-content="empty" language="java"
pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" />
<jsp:directive.attribute name="bean" required="true" type="com.my.Bean"/>
Runtime way:
${bean}
${bean.prop}
Deferred way:
<h:outputText value="#{bean}"/>
<h:inputText value="#{bean.prop}"/>
</jsp:root>So ${} renders as expected, but <h:outputText> renders nothing as #{} evaluates to null. What should I do to make outputText and inputText work, if that's possible at all?
I use Tomcat 6.0.2 and JSF-RI 1.2_03.
Thanks,
Alexey

Oh, I see now.
But is there a way to trick JSF by explicitly putting bean into request scope? Something, like Tomahawk's aliasBean?
Actually, I did try to implement it. The following code was supposed to create a variable in EL-context:
ValueExpression expr = _value instanceof ValueExpression
? (ValueExpression)_value
: facesContext.getApplication().getExpressionFactory().createValueExpression(_value, Object.class);
ELContext   ctxt = facesContext.getELContext();
VariableMapper varMap = ctxt.getVariableMapper();
if ( varMap == null ) {
((ELContextImpl)ctxt).setVariableMapper( new VariableMapperImpl() );
varMap = ctxt.getVariableMapper();
if ( varMap != null ) {
varMap.setVariable(_alias, expr);
_active = true;
log.fine("makeAlias: " + _alias + " = " + expr.getExpressionString());
} else {
log.warning("makeAlias: " + _alias + " = " + expr.getExpressionString() + " failed");
}But resolving #{...} still returned null.

• How to add raw HTML tags inside JSF tags...

Hi
I would like to use inside my project in some area..The following code hides the input = type html tag and forwards the click event to jsf command button...After selecting the file,it should forward the value to jsf textfield....
My code seems as below.
<h:form id="detailForm" onsubmit="printElements(detailForm,this)">
<f:verbatim>
<input id="uploadFile" type="file" style ="dispaly:none"size="100" />
</f:verbatim>
<h:inputText id="docName" style="width:650px;" maxlength="100"/>
<h:commandButton id="visibleBrowseButton" value="Select File..." onclick="'detailForm:uploadFile'.click();callClick();">
</h:commandButton>
</h:form>

While running this page it works fine in IE but in Mozilla firefox it troubles me during detailForm:uploadFile'.click().
I suspect the jsf page cannot able to detect the raw html tag inside jsf tags...Eventhough i tried using inside<f:verbatim> it wont works..
I would like to know
1.Whether the code is right,,if the code goes wrong why it got runned in IE not in firefox....
2.How can raw html tags can be integrated inside JSF tags....

First of all, why are you ignoring valuable answers about a JSF fileupload component in your previous topic?
Second, you can just nest raw HTML anywhere in your JSF page. Your problem is rather related to JavaScript. It has completely nothing to do with Java nor JSF. Learn JavaScript -there is a nice tut at w3schools.com- and look for a JavaScript forum if you still stucks. There are ones at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com.
The f:verbatim is only required if you was using JSF 1.1 or older, which is not the case. You would have occurred completely different problems.

• Dynamic values in checkbox

Hello,
I have a servlet where I submit the value of check box to other servlet and print them there.
out.println("");
out.println(word+"
");
for this check box no problem as the value is static and always =2
I tryed to make the vlaue dynamic value ="string"
out.println("<input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"option1\" value=\"<%=word%>\" checked>");
out.println(word+"
");
but when i print this i got :
2 null
any help

Hi, please use the 'code' tags; select the text and click the code button when you're posting, it makes things easier to read.
1. Since you're getting null, that means the value in the variable 'word' is null; check where the value should be assigned.
2. Your code for printing the value of 'word' is wrong; why're you using the JSP tags ( <%= %> ) when it's a servlet??
String word ="This Value" ;
out.println("<input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"option1\" value=\"" + word + "\" checked>");

• Values having html tags not getting populated while using AJAX in APEX

HTP.prn ('
');
END;
If I have :TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM as 'Vikas' it gets displayed properly but if I have '<b>Vikas<b>' it shows null. if it has any HTML tags function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue is not working properly .Please tell me what modiifcation can I use in function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue to get Values with HTML tags also to get displayed.
Thanks,
Vikas

Vikas,
Try escaping special characters: htf.escape_sc(:TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM)Regards,

Hi Patricia,
is it working for restricted key figure and calculated key figure ??
Note Number Fisc Period Opening Days
1 1 2
2 1 3
3 1 0
because I have other restriction, so I create two restricted key figure..
RK1 with restriction : Total Number of Note,
RK2 with restriction : Total Opening Days ,
then I Created a calculated key figure, average opening days in a period
CK1 = RK2 / RK1..
in this case, I am not sure if it will work or not..
for example, during RK2 calclation, it might be this 2+3 = 5, the line with 0 will be ignored..
during RK1 calcualtion, it might be 1 + 1 + 1 = 3. ---> Not sure in this case, the line with opening days 0 will be calculated or not..
could you please confirm..
