Dynamic web-based Chart-Generation

Hi,
I want to a offer my users a dynamic web-based Chart-Generation.
Actually I'm using Excel for generating charts and display the result in a static HTML-Page.
My goal is the user selects the wanted chart (eg. in a dropdown-menue) and this chart will be created immediately.
The charts are connected to a database where the data have been stored.
Is there existing a Freeware-Tool/Module I can use?
cu
Chris

Before FireFox got SVG and made such things obsolete, I spent a couple of sundays playing around with server-side image generation for prettier flow-charts and UML - see http://www.lapisblue.net/ for examples, http://tincancamera.com/examples/java/lapisblue/image-server/ for source code.
It's nothing special, you're free to use it if you want - the main image generation servlet's ImageServlet; it serves up pngs, and caches and redirects repeated requests; the other servlets have different image generator classes.

  • How to create dynamic ed flash charts based on user selected fields in Orac

    Hi all,
    Can any of the experts please tellme "how to create dynamic ed flash charts based on user selected fields in Oracle apex".
    Thanks
    Manish

    Hello,
    Lots of different ways to do this, I blogged about one way (using a Pipelined function) here -
    http://jes.blogs.shellprompt.net/2006/05/25/generic-charting-in-application-express/
    Other options include using a PL/SQL function returning the string to use as the dynamic query etc.
    Hope this helps,

  • Adding Page View Web Part with dynamic URL based on visited mysite user

    Problem:
    I want to add an iframe (using Page View Web Part for example) on all mysite users front page (person.aspx) with following address:
    http://webservice/calendar?user=name
    The property "name" represents a dynamic value based on which person the user is visiting. Hence if i open "Tom Hanks" mysite profile, the iframe will show content from http://webservice/calendar?user=Tom%Hanks
    (This is a custom made calendar from Domino)
    Any suggestions welcome.

    Hi,
    The Page Viewer Web Part is basically an HTML IFRAME. We can use a Content Editor Web Part with an IFRAME and a little JavaScript to meet your requirement.
    Here is a similar thread for your reference:

  • I need  Web based Dynamic Reporting tools

    Hi,
    I need a Web based Dynamic Reporting tool.
    I have to user oracle products and this reporting tools must support OLAP and Data Warehousing.
    thanks,

    Hi Shima,
    Let me quote from Oracle Reports website:
    "Oracle Reports is Oracle's award-winning, high-fidelity enterprise reporting tool. It enables businesses to give immediate access to information to all levels within and outside of the organization in an unrivaled scalable and secure environment. Oracle Reports consists of Oracle Reports Developer (a component of the Oracle Developer Suite) and OracleAS Reports Services (a component of the Oracle Application Server)."
    Since you need a web-based reporting tool, this is what is available with Oracle Reports:- you cannot design reports on the web, but you can use Oracle Reports Developer to design high quality reports that are suitable for viewing on the web.
    Oracle Reports support OLAP as a data source.
    From your requirements, it seems that it might be worthwhile for you to check out Oracle Discoverer which is again a powerful reporting and analysis tool. Oracle Discoverer is more suitable for ad-hoc reporting and web-based analysis of data by the end-users:

  • Web Analysis Chart - Can I create a Dynamic Title?

    I'm creating a Web Analysis document (9.3) with muliple combo box choices that dynamically changes the Chart.
    The document will then be used by users via Workspace.
    I see how during the print process in the web analysis studio I can insert dynamic labels in the print header, but in workspace you only see this via the print via pdf process.
    Ideally I'd like to set the dynamic label in the "Header Title" of the Chart Properties. That way it will be visible in the chart to the user and will be printed thru either print process.
    Is it possible to set a dynamic lable via the chart properties? I have not been successful.

    Hi,
    You can easily make dynamic headers by using Dynamic Text Labels, which reference members in the filter, pages or grid row/column:
    <<cell DataSourceName 0, 0>> where 0,0 are the co-ordinates you wish to reference.
    for more info, refer to the WA Studio User Guide:

  • Data web bean (chart) using a dynamic view object

    Please I want a quick help. I read all forums concerning this subject but I still couldn't do it.
    - I create a view object which takes a proameter using the ? style parameter.
    - I passed the parameter from an html page and execute the query
    of the view as follows:
    <%
    String deptno = request.getParameter("deptno");
    if(deptno != null) {
    oracle.jbo.html.jsp.JSPApplicationRegistry.registerApplicationFromPropertyFile(session , "MyProject21_package3_Package3Module");
    oracle.jbo.ViewObject v = oracle.jbo.html.jsp.JSPApplicationRegistry.getInstance()
    .getAppModuleInstance("MyProject21_package3_Package3Module",request,session)
    .findViewObject("View1");
    v.setWhereClauseParam(0,deptno);
    v.executeQuery();
    %>
    - And then I used the data web bean chart as follows:
    <jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.ChartRenderer" id="ch" scope="request" >
    <%
    ch.setReleaseApplicationResources(false);
    ch.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"MyProject21_package3_Package3Module.View1");
    ch.setCommonScriptName("/webapp/jsp/chart_common.jsp");
    ch.getChart().setGraphType(ch.PIE);
    ch.setSeriesLabelColumnName("DeptNo");
    ch.setDisplayAttributes("CountEmplNo");
    ch.getChart().setPieFeelerTextDisplay(0);
    ch.getChart().setPieTilt(10);
    ch.getChart().setPieRotate(0);
    ch.getChart().setLegendDisplay(true);
    ch.getChart().setLegendMarkerPosition(0);
    ch.getChart().setTitleString("Title");
    ch.getChart().setSubtitleString("Subtitle");
    ch.getChart().setFootnoteString("Footnote");
    ch.setImageWidth(400);
    ch.setImageHeight(400);
    ch.render();

    - I tried to use the View1 as a view name, and the v as a view name
    but both of them get the same result
    SQL Statement error and the sql statement is displayed with the ? in it which means that he didn't replace it by the parameter.
    Please I need quick help.

  • Dynamically select Key Figures before executing web-based query

    Hi,
    I want to select(through checkbox) the Key Figures to be presented in a query before executing the query. The query is web-based.
    Has anybody an idea how to achieve this?
    Kind regards,
    Ton van Velzen

    You will need 2 templates.
    First one use the Checkbox item to list all the keyfigure structure elements, read the user selections using JavaScript, form the URL with the Filters for the key Figures and call the second template which will display the data.
    See the attached for passing filter values to BW Web templates.

  • Can we see dynamic data on charts using Excel Services

    hi all,
    i would like to know if there is any option in SharePoint 2013 for developing dynamic "responsive/interactive Charts"  with SQL server as data source. And the connection should be there online, i mean the charts should refresh data based on
    the SQL data all the time.
    When i saw the feature of excel service, i could see only retrieving of data using data connection from sql and after adding that data to workbook, we can create responsive charts with required filters. However, i dint see option of data refresh from external
    source without opening the excel work book.
    What i want is, once i added the chart using chart webpart, if any new data is added or modified in external data source i.e., like SQL in my case, the chart should automatically updated with new changes in the data.
    please let me know if my requirement can be fulfilled using OOB.
    thank you beforehand .
    Thanks & Regards Raj

    Hi ALL,
    Linda, I know you are only trying to help but when you answer questions where you don't know the answer you only mislead the user asking the question at best but every one else who reviews the post... we have been performing data refresh on page
    render and every 5 minutes by default since SharePoint 2007. We build Business Intelligence Dashboards and Score Cards using Live data with Excel Services, and features like PowerPivot, PowerView
    Data in a Microsoft Office Excel workbook that has been displayed in Excel Services can come from two different locations. The data may be stored directly in the workbook, or it may be stored in an external data source, such as in a database or
    in an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube.
    If the data comes from an external data source, the workbook author or administrator has defined the connection information, often in an Office data connection (.odc) file, which describes how to locate, log in, query, and access the external data source.
    When you are connected to an external data source, you can perform a refresh operation to retrieve the updated data. Each time that you refresh data, you see the most recent version of the data, including any changes that were made to the data since it was
    last refreshed.
    Refresh all connections
    On the Excel Web Access toolbar, under the Update menu, click
    Refresh All Connections.
    Periodic refresh
    By using Office Excel 2007, the workbook author can specify that data automatically refreshes at a specified interval after the workbook is opened for each connection in the workbook. For example, an inventory database may be updated every hour, and so the
    workbook author has defined the workbook to automatically refresh every 60 minutes. For more information, see Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Help.
    A Web Part author can select or clear the Allow Excel Web Access Periodic Data Refresh property to enable or disable this periodic refresh operation, if the property has been defined by the workbook author. When the time interval elapses,
    by default, the following refresh alert prompt is displayed at the bottom of the Excel Web Access Web Part:
    Refresh data for <List of Connections>? (Now) (Always) (Don't ask me again)
    An Excel Web Access Web Part author can also set the Display Periodic Data Refresh Prompt property to control the behavior of the message that is displayed when Excel Services performs a periodic data refresh during a session:
    Always      means that the message is displayed with a prompt at each interval.
    Optionally      means that a user can choose to continue periodic refresh without displaying a message.
    Never      means that Excel Web Access performs a periodic refresh without displaying a message or prompt.
    For more information, see
    Excel Web Access Web Part custom properties.
    I have only listed a couple of the ways you can have Excel services update external data, this is not an exhaustive list

    WEB BASED MAPPING APPLICATION TO DEVELOP QUERY UTILITY USING MAPVIEWER

    I currently use parameters, and they are passed from the form to the report. Report is then generated based on a function returning ‘strongly typed’ cursor. The ‘strongly typed’ cursor in my case returns a record consisting of an orderly collection of fields.
    This collection of fields is returned by another function that relies on the IF … THEN logic.
    However, the number of IF ... THEN statements is quite large (currently 64 covering all possible combinations of 6 parameters available in the form).
    I would like to avoid the large number of IF … THEN statements, and hope that there is a way of passing a string to a query, where the Dynamic SQL would in Select close and Where close reflect parameters passed by the form.
    In addition to this I would like to avoid creating and populating a table or a view dedicated to the report, because this may lead to a conflict in case of multiple users concurrently generating reports with different choice of parameters.

  • Can you create a javascript dynamic menu based on security data in oracleDB

    I am looking for a dynamic javascript menu that is generated based on the user role... basically i get the user role from ldap and then I have a Security table in oracle data base that has the permission info and i want to generate my dynamic menu based on the data in the database table.... the table has the following columns
    private String userId;
    private String security_level; // page level , field level
    private String permission; //CRUD
    private String permissionType; //ALLOW, DENY

    Hello Suzie,
    It is possible but you have "many" ways to do it, since what will happen is the javascript will be generated by an application.
    Are you developing a J2EE application? with or without JSF?
    The best way will be to Google to find a good Javascript menu library, and adapt the generation of it based on the content of your database.

    and how is it coming to help me.Its a very wast topic i serached.what will be helpful to me of the UML.
    What should i start first --- jsp or db design.
    What should i use for web based project --- only use jsp(presentation)+dao or jsp+servlet+dao.What would be best ?

    As stated in http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5167752 start reading the Java EE tutorial to get insights in the material.
    what will be helpful to me of the UML.UML generally visualizes the core functionality. See http://www.google.com/search?q=uml+tutorial for some tuts.
    What should i start first --- jsp or db design.Start with both and end with the best balance between both.
    What should i use for web based project --- only use
    jsp(presentation)+dao or jsp+servlet+dao.Depends on the business needs. Generally 3-tier webapplications are the best: web, business and data.
    provide some nice link based on dynamic fetching of values from the
    database and showing it at runtime.Check some SQL and JDBC tutorials how to fetch and process the data:

  • An Error Occurred during CHART Generation in BI Launch Pad 4.0

    Hi Guys,
    I am creating a report on BI launch Pad, the query result shows fine in the "Table" format but when i "Turn Into" chart it gives me an error " An Error Occurred During chart generation, The chart cannot be displayed".
    I created the same report in Rich Client and everything is working fine but on the portal the charts cannot be displayed.
    Let me know if anyone has faced this error or has any solution for it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sheikh Hassan Ayub

    try the following:
    1) We created a new Adaptive Processing server by stopping the existing one.
    2) Enabled and Started the new server.
    3) And now you were successfully able to Create, Open and Modify any web Intelligence reports in BI Launchpad.
    It worked for me.
    But the problem is that i had to re create the charts in BI launch pad, the old charts didnt work.
    If you have any other solution let me know.

  • How to create dynamic tree based on BAPI

    Hi
    I am able to create dynamic tree based on flat file structure example given in SDN . But how to create the tree from BAPI directly.Also when I will be clicking on any leaf node of the tree some data related to the node will be passed to another view.
    Regards
    Ananda

    What i'm trying to do is create an organizational structure.
    Global>Region>Plant-->Corporation
    The output from the RFC is a structure containing every possible combination for orgazational hierarchy. Basically a flat table with record for every possible combinaton of Region-Plant-Corporation. This data needs to be bound to a tree structure so that we can call BW queries based on that level. For example: Give me aged inventory for the SAP corporation within the plant Berlin that is located in the Europe region.
    Now that you understand the business reason will the nodes that represent Region and Plant and corporation be non-singleton nodes or recursive? I was thinking a hierarchy of non-singleton nodes.
    I can bind these nodes to the Region - Plant - Corporation elements returned from in the flat table structure. I will probably get duplicates as a specific Region will be listed multiple times for every possible combination of the data beneath it. I'm not so concerned about that right now as I want to make sure I understand how in Web Dynpro to bind the data to the tree.
    Hopefully this makes some sense. Can you elaborate on how this may be constructed in context of the view?
    Would i create a model node for region (0..n), model node for plant (0..n), and a model node for Corporation (0..n)?
    Or does this sound totally incorrect?
    julian
    We have 3 regions over 50 plants and probably around 500 corporations.

  • Web Part Chart Help

    I have set up a Web Part Chart as a bar chart based on Desk Utilisation. Does anyone know if there is a way I can change the colour of an individual bar if the value is greater that a preset figure say 100%.

    I don't believe so. Honestly the Chart Web Part is not very good (removed in 2013). I'd suggest exporting the list to excel and saving the .iqy (query) file and use it as a data connection. Then create a PowerPivot chart and save that. Set it to refresh
    the data on open. Now you have a better tool for charts.

  • Web based file explorer

    Hi all, I'm new here, but i hope you guys can help me out
    I've had some good experience with DW, but on php. Now i'm
    working on a company where I'm forced to use ASP, and I am quite
    enjoying it.
    I developed a web based file explorer, with a javascript
    frame on the left with the folder tree, and mainwindow on the
    right, to ease up the file download.
    Basically, all i do with my script, is to send a folder
    string via url like this:
    www.blablabla.com/xpto/files.asp?folderref=./folder1/folder2
    the script just grabs a handle on the folder
    /xpto/data/folder1/folder2/ and list the files, with links, icons
    for every file, last mod date, size, and file type.
    My problem... I need to do a back button to do a folder up.
    I'm currently using the javascript:history.back(-1) system, but
    that's not very reliable since you can browse a different folder in
    the tree and clicking it goes back to the last folder it was in.
    other thing
    i have a path string using the string passed by url, and
    replacing the / by -> and . by home... I'd like to put links in
    each of the folder names so it'd go directly to those folders
    ie. Home -> folder1 -> folder2 -> folder3
    the link in folder 2 would resolve /xpto/data/folder1/folder2
    Any way to strip the string that way?
    One other thing...
    The file explorer tree, gets the folder structure from a
    multi-dimesnional array set this way:
    ['Home', 'index.asp?folderref=.',
    ['a', 'index.asp?folderref=.',
    ['b', 'index.asp?folderref=.',
    ['c', 'index.asp?folderref=.'],
    This causes me a problem... It's not as dynamic as i wanted
    it to be. Is there a way to make a script that generates the folder
    structure, but only needs to be run everytime the folder structure
    is altered? The file structure is altered very few times. (once a
    month or so)
    Or
    Is there a way to generate the file structure everytime the
    script is run?
    Which is more reliable?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Eddy

    If file structure updates so few times per month, I think it
    is good idea to generate structure of files and folder through cron
    (unix scheduler) or some kind of scheduler for windows
    But if your files updated frequently it is better to generate
    structure at every request to files.asp
