Dynamically create javascripts using pl/sql code from page header

I understand by placing a javascript code in the page header is one of the way adding javascript functionality to your pages.
But lets say I need (dynamically) bring my javascripts into the page header using my pl/sql package/functions like core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('jf_isnumber');
1- How can I call my pl/sql package/functions from page header area of Apex?
If I need to use 20 javascripts functions into a page which I have them stored in database (using them on my other pages) and I don't want to copy or re-write them in Apex, instead I like to have 20 line of calls to my pl/sql package like:
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('myFirstJavascript');
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('mySecondJavascript');
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('myThirdJavascript');
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('myFourthJavascript');
... and so on.
2- In past we wrote our web apps using pl/sql example:
htp.p('<html>');
htp.p('<head>');
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('jf_get_today_date');
core_func_jscript_pkg.get_jscript('someothe_scripts');
htp.p('</head>');
htp.p('</html>');
I like to do the same thing in Apex, Can I accomplish this in Apex?
Thanks again

There was a <head> content & dynamic metadata with APEX? that should provide some pointers.

  • How to create dynamic HTML page using PL/SQL code in APEX.

    hello,
    I am woking on one APEX application in which i want to create one dynamic HTML page on button press using PL/SQL code.
    Thanks

    It is possible to create HTML page with dynamic content. One way would be creating hidden field (e.g. P1_HTML on page 1) with dynamic HTML and on button click you redirect to page 2 and pass P1_HTML item value to item P2_HTML on page 2. On page you must have PL/SQL region. You can then render your dynamic HTML with code:
    htp.p(:P2_HTML);
    Don use APEX URL for passing HTML value. Problem and solution is described here: http://blog.trent-schafer.com/2011/04/03/dont-pass-string-parameters-in-the-url-in-apex-its-a-bad-idea/

    Files can be created by PL/SQL code and stored in the Oracle database as CLOBs. This a fairly easy and robust process. It runs entirely in the database. It conforms to transaction processing. The "file" (as a CLOB) resides in the database and can thus be secured via database security, is part of database backups and so on.
    The basic issue is how to deliver the contents of the CLOB to the user. If via FTP, then the database can directly FTP the contents of the CLOB to the FTP server as a file. If via HTTP, the database can deliver the CLOB as a HTTP download directly to the web browser.
    If the client is Java or .Net, then the CLOB contents can be delivered via SQL or DBMS_LOB or a custom PL/SQL interface.
    In such cases, there is no need to step outside the secure and flexible database environment and create a physical o/s file in the wild (outside the controls of database security, data integrity and transaction processing). This is thus recommended and is the preference.

  • How can one  read a Excel File and Upload into Table using Pl/SQL Code.

    How can one read a Excel File and Upload into Table using Pl/SQL Code.
    1. Excel File is on My PC.
    2. And I want to write a Stored Procedure or Package to do that.
    3. DataBase is on Other Server. Client-Server Environment.
    4. I am Using Toad or PlSql developer tool.

    If you would like to create a package/procedure in order to solve this problem consider using the UTL_FILE in built package, here are a few steps to get you going:
    1. Get your DBA to create directory object in oracle using the following command:
    create directory TEST_DIR as ‘directory_path’;
    Note: This directory is on the server.
    2. Grant read,write on directory directory_object_name to username;
    You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.
    3. Logon as the user as mentioned above.
    Sample code read plain text file code, you can modify this code to suit your need (i.e. read a csv file)
    function getData(p_filename in varchar2,
    p_filepath in varchar2
    ) RETURN VARCHAR2 is
    input_file utl_file.file_type;
    --declare a buffer to read text data
    input_buffer varchar2(4000);
    begin
    --using the UTL_FILE in built package
    input_file := utl_file.fopen(p_filepath, p_filename, 'R');
    utl_file.get_line(input_file, input_buffer);
    --debug
    --dbms_output.put_line(input_buffer);
    utl_file.fclose(input_file);
    --return data
    return input_buffer;
    end;
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create a database for sample code from Tutorial/Book?

    I want to try out the sample code from [http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920013471.do] for the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed.
    I have downloaded the oracle vm/appliance for oracle 11g2 and I have started sqlplus as sysdba.
    I'm feeling overwhelmed with these links describing how to create a database:
    [http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/admin/creatingdbmanually.html]
    [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-7-HOWTO-3.html]
    [http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/admin/creatingdbmanually.html]
    (1) What is the command to list the existing databases?
    (2) What is the command to delete an existing database?
    (3) When creating a new database with the create database command, is it necessary to specify the logfile, character set, national character set, datafile, sysaux datafile, undo tablespace, temp table space? Do these have reasonable defaults? I'm not sure what proper directories are to specify for Linux and the examples are for windows.
    Can someone give me a simplified create database command to create a database called 3rdEdPocketGuide? Should I follow the example at [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-7-HOWTO-3.html] and instead of orcl use 3rdEdPocketGuide?
    (4) What command do I use to execute the script that comes with the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed? This is the script that has all the drop table, create table and insert commands in it.
    (5) What command do I use in sqlplus to set the current default database prior to running this script? Perhaps this is the connect command? I don't want my script to create tables in the system database.
    (6) I tried the command "connect 3rdEdPocketGuide" and it prompted for a password! Yikes! What password? Do I need to specify a password when I create a database? I cannot tell if I have successfully created such a database or it is just prompting me for a password to thwart malicious users. Is it is possible to create databases which don't require a password or maybe a zero length password?
    Thanks
    Siegfried

    Everyone:
    Do I need to create a user using SQL*Plus first so I can login with "Oracle SQL Developer" so I create my database called? What would be the "create user" command I would execute?
    OK, so I run sqlplus and issue these commands
    create user siegfried identified by abc ;
    grant connect to siegfried ;
    connect siegfried/abc;
    Now, how do I create a database? In Microsoft SQL Server one has to create a database first and if you just start creating tables without creating a database first, the tables will be created in the system database and this is usually undesirable.
    Sometimes a database is known in the java connection string as the catalog. Is there any such analog in oracle SQL plus?
    So now what do I do? I want to create a bunch of tables using my script I downloaded from 3rd Ed SQL Pocket Guide. Does my new user "siegfried" have the right to create tables? I guess I could try but I don't want to create tables in the system database.
    I noticed I can also use "Oracle SQL Developer" to connect with my new "siegfried" account. It seems that I should have been able to connect with sysdba... strange.

  • How to use pl/sql code as ODI user defined function

    Hi All,
    i have a pl/sql code and i want to create ODI user defined function using this code .
    please find the pl/sql code below:
    ============================
    declare
    v_no_of_duplicate_rec number := 0;
    begin
    select count(*)
    into v_no_of_duplicate_rec
    from ( select 1
    from temp_pre_selections
    group by svb_number, selection_id
    having count(*) > 1);
    if v_no_of_duplicate_rec = 0 then
    return 'N';
    else
    return 'Y';
    end if;
    end if;
    ==========================
    please help me how to achieve the same .
    Thanks
    Vinod

    2 ways:
    a. implement logic in odi function directly: getCount, Oracle implementation:
    select case count(1) when 0 then 'N' else 'Y' end
    from hr.employees
    when you use this function to refresh a variable, the refresh statement should only be getCount, you shoueld not write select getCount from dual, otherwise it will become
    select select .... from ... from dual
    b. if your logic is complex, I suggest to write function directly in your database, then call this function in your ODI function
    eg:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION hr.test RETURN varchar2 IS
    tmpVar NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    select count(1) into tmpVar from hr.employees;
    if tmpVar=0 then
    return 'N';
    else
    return 'Y';
    end if;
    END test;
    then create a ODI function, Oracle implementation is
    hr.test
    in your variable refresh statement, you can write select getCount from dual
    if you use the odi function in other locations expect for refreshing variable, the idea is similar

  • Dynamically create empty mcs and asign elements from array and loadmovie

    I'm creating an educational game for my school students.
    A little boy is flying through the city when he encounters objects flying from left to right.
    He hears a SOUND eg: Dog - he must go and click the dog image with the flying cursor. There are at least 5 DIFFERENT objects that should be flying on the screen. There could be various of them at any one time.
    I have the roots of the images in an xml file. And the actual swf are in a file called IMAGE and the sounds in SOUND.
    My problem is that most tutorials I see use the attachmovie method but I don't want to put all the swf's in the library as there are hundreds.
    I have to use the loadmovie method.
    I take it I have to loop through the array and assign each element to an empty movieclip which in turn is in the loop so you get 5 empty clips - I will use i (index). It doesn't seem to be working. I shall keep trying and post back here if I get any luck but I'm running out of ideas.
    Then the objects have to float across the screen. Don't know whether to use tween object or onEnterFrame handler or other. AND someone has mentioned using setinterval to "spit out" the objects.
    BUT if I have five flying across the screen I'm left without clips to stick in any more.
    Oh my head hurts but I will keep going.
    CHEERS if any help is around. This should be quite a standard thng for game developpers. Code at the moment
    function loadEnemies():Void {
    enemy_xml = new XML();
    enemy_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    enemy_xml.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
    if (success) {
    _root.parseEnemyXML();
    //enemy_xml.load("level_"+level+".xml");
    enemy_xml.load("data/animal_catch.xml");
    function parseEnemyXML():Void {
    rows = enemy_xml.firstChild.childNodes.length;
    for (var i:Number = 0; i<rows; i++) {
    var row_string:String = String(enemy_xml.firstChild.childNodes[i].firstChild.firstChild);
    _root["row_"+i+"_array"] = row_string; //MAIN ARRAY holds an array images/dog_a.swf/ images/cat_a.swf etc... all five
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("enemyObjects", 1);
    enemyObjects.createEmptyMovieClip("holder_"+i, i);
    _root["object"+i] = new Sound(enemyObjects["holder_"+i]);
    trace(row_string);
    loadMovie["row_"+i+"_array"], ["holder_"+i]
    if (level == 1) {
    alerts_mc.play();
    } else {
    currRow = 0;
    rowCounter = 0;
    OK got to about here BUT
    a. I started to get confused around the createEmptyMovieClip part
    b. I KNOW I shouldn't have Sound(enemyObjetcs etc... BUT I copied the code from a tutorial and I don't know what to replace it with.
    I'm close but I need a little polishing.

    It doesn't do you much good to work with borrowed code that you do not understand.  Your best bet will be to start small, creating one functional piece of the puzzle at a time, and work your way up.  Start with making sure you are loading and parsing the xml properly, then set about loading the external content, then see about making that content move around, etc...
    In the code you show, your loadMovie line of code does not resemble anything I have seen before, looking more like (but not quite like) a multi-dimensional array element than a loadMovie() function call.  If you find you need to have control of the items as soon as they load, then you should consider using MovieClipLoader.loadClip instead of loadMovie.  The MovieClipLoader class provides features, such as to be able to determine when items have fully loaded.

    I have tried to put some SQL code in some Forms, in the part where it is suppoused to be put (where it says after display page, after display form, etc) but it doesn4t work. I don4t know how the syntaxis must be so I wonder if someone could help me. For example, I would like to execute a SELECT before the display of a page, puting the corresponding code in the part of the Form mentionated before.
    Thanks.

    Use something like :-
    declare
    cursor c1 is select ename from scott.emp;
    begin
    for i in c1
    loop
    htp.p(c1.ename);
    end loop;
    end;

  • Creating Repositories using MS SQL Server DataBase in Data Service Reposito

    HI All,
    I installed BODS and I am trying to create repository using Data Service Repository Manager but I am getting the following error message :
    Cannot open connection to the repository.  The error message from the underlying DBMS is <ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <localhost> failed: <[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.>. Notify Customer Support.>. (BODI-20006)
    An error occurred during creation of the local repository. (BODI-300054)
    While installing BODS i used the option to create DB .... Before that even I had Microsoft SQL server installed for MDM which was working fine (Able to Log on and so on)...
    Do I need to install Oracle in order to create repositories? How to proceed further please suggest.
    many Thanks
    Rajeev.

    Hi!
    What version of SQL Server are you using for the repositories? Maybe the error is because DS can not create repositories in SQL Server 2008. You can read and write data with SQL2008, but you need to create the repositories in SQL2005 or another RDBMS. I'm not sure when DS is going to be able to create them in SQL2008.
    I hope this could help you. Greetings!
    See you

  • Is it possible to dynamically create a user variable at runtime from within a Widget?

    I'm trying to develop a custom Interactive Widget. This widget will allow the user to take multiple attempts, and needs to store information about previously completed attempts so they can (hopefully) see their improvements over time.
    I'm trying to figure out the best way to store the data about the previously completed attempts across multiple sessions in a LMS. It seems that the data stored in user variables is automatically stored/restored in suspend_data, which would be perfect. The issue is that I can't find a way to dynamically create a new user variable from within a Widget. It looks like I can only access user variables that the author has explicitly defined in the Captivate interface. I'd rather not have to force the author to define an empty User Variable that they'll never knowingly use, just to give the Widget a bucket to store its data.
    Does anyone have any ideas for what might be the best way to accomplish this? I'd like to stick to standard, "approved" APIs as much as possible, but I'd be willing to bend some rules if necessary.
    Thanks!

    Philip gave you sound advice.  You'll have to hijack/re-purpose the comments or the suspend data.  I was successful in using SCORM comments in a Moodle system to store extra data I needed for a customer.  It's not ideal, but it gets the job done. Here's a thread about that:
    https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/elearning-technology-and-development/Yg YAMGfXQNw
    If you use suspend data, you have to watch out for a few things:
    1.  It's base 64 encoded... so any data you append to what Captivate outputs will need to be in base 64 (that's a good practice anyway since the data has to be serialized).
    2.  On course re-entry, you'll need to capture the suspend data before it hits Cp to strip off / read your needed data.  If the suspend data isn't in the format Cp expects, you'll get a nice white screen of death.
    Ideally, it would be nice to be able to dynamically create user variables for purposes like this... and it's been requested in Cp 6.... we'll see if it gets added (not holding my breath).  Until then, I'd use cmi.comments.
