Dynamically create variables when read from txt file

hi,
need a little help on this one.
im reading in the name of user defined classes from a text file into a string array. once i have them all read in i want to be able to declare instances of each class, but how?
i have the string array with the names and i know that il have to use a loop with a counter to give each instance a unique name but im stomped on how to do the rest.
anyone have any ideas?
many thanks in advance.

im getting it in the following line:
Class cls = Class.forNames(behList[ i ]);
behList is a list of names, im trying to loop through
it and create an instance of each object in the list
using
Object x = cls.newInstance();
but it never gets to this line cos of the top one.
any ideas?stupid bb codes...
now are you sure you got that error by java and not Eclipse(or another IDE)
cause afaik, if the VM cant find the class, it will throw a ClassNotFoundException...

    Mike,
    you were right, you may not specify the extension of a file.
    Another thing i detected is that the loop of my data start with the index 1 instead of 0 !!!
    In this scenario, i have to read all the lines of the file and each time i should do a SQL-query,
    so that i can use the result to build my sales document.
    Do you know if it this is possible or have you any idea how to do this ?
    thx,
    Mario

    Hi Awen,
    This is quite easy to do, you can merely use the "read from spreadsheet file" function to get a 2D array (2 columns and n rows) and then use the index array function to get whatever row/colums you want..

    I suppose that you are writing a program in some programming language, probably PL/SQL. So, you can use TO_DATE function and handle the exception when it occurs.
    create or replace procedure tstdt
    as
      stdt varchar(10);
      dt date;
    begin
      stdt := '20/10/2006';
      dt := to_date(stdt);
       dbms_output.put_line('date is correct
    exception
    when others then
      dbms_output.put_line('Invalid Date');

  • How to read from txt file that has words in between?

    Hi all,
    I am using Labview 8.2.
    I would like to read from a text file.  I have data (after each time it is has averaged over 100 waveforms) repeatedly stored on to the file.  The idea is to further improve SNR in post processing by again averaging the data (that has been averaged over the 100 waveforms).
    I can get LabView  to save the data repeatedly into the file, so it keeps getting appended.
    The problem is to read the data in labview so I can now again average it.  The problem is the labview seperates the sets of data with the following:
    " Channels    1
    Samples    9925
    Date    2008/10/28
    Time    17:16:11.638363
    X_Dimension    Time
    X0    -3.0125000000000013E-3
    Delta_X    2.500000E-6
    ***End_of_Header***        "
    So When I read it, it only sees the first set of data.
    Can someone please tell me how to read all the sets of data in labview?
    I have attached the file I want to read "acquiredwaveform.txt"  and the basic VI (really basic btw) to read the file.
    Thanks

    Thanks again DFGray for the comments.
    After the correlations to find the peak positions, i just take the max value.  And you are right the accuracy is limited by the number of  samples per cycle.  Perhaps it would be clearer if you see the code.
    1) Basically I get a signal on the up and downslope of the sine wave.  On the down slope however the signal is negative, i.e. its is flipped.  So before I shift and average...I 'cut' the waveform into 4 (when cycles per buffer = 2, then I get 4 signals, 2 on the up slope and 2 on down slope) bits.  Counting from one, I flip the even number, cut it, and but an array of waveforms which is then sent to be convolved and shifted.
    2) Array of waveforms are stored to be phased shifted (Convolve and shift vi) and averaged (entire averaging vi which uses the convolve and shift vi as a sub vi).
    * Phase shifting doesn't work when I cut and put it together (So something is wrong in cut waveform vi)
    * Also if it isn't too time consuming could you give me an example of interpolating and shifting thing.
    * Also if you have any comments regarding the following VIs please let me know.
    Thanks
    Attached is:
    1) Cut waveform vi
    2) Convolve and shift
    3) Entire averaging

  • Read from txt file and analyse data

    hi,
    i am having a problem for reading data from a text file and checking whether it is a integer or not.
    basically if i have a txt file with the following content:
    12 45 345 500 45.67684 33
    my output should be:
    12 45 345 500 invalid 33
    that means if there is a integer number in the file, the integer number will be printed on the screen BUT if there is anything else like a string or a double number, then "invalid" will be printed.
    how can i check what kind of datatype it is??
    i have the following code to start with:
    try
                BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(FileName));
                String l = in.readLine();
                in.close();
            catch(IOException e)
                System.out.println("IO error");
                System.exit(0);
            }

    ok i have tried the following code:
            int index = 0;
            String[] arr = null;
            int nb = 0;
            try
                BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(nameFile));
                String line = in.readLine();
                arr = line.split(" ");
                for(int i=0; i<arr.length; i++)
                    index = i;
                    nb = Integer.parseInt(arr);
    System.out.print(nb+" ");
    in.close();
    catch(IOException e)
    System.out.println("IO error");
    System.exit(0);
    catch(NumberFormatException e)
    System.out.print("invalid ");
    for(int j=index+1; j<arr.length; j++)
    nb = Integer.parseInt(arr[j]);
    System.out.print(nb+" ");
    which works perfectly fine for the following scenario:
    txt-file:
    12 45 345 500 45.67684 33
    output:
    12 45 345 500 invalid 33
    but what, if I have the following data in my txt file:
    12 45 345 500 45.67684 33 23.234 21
    then the output should be:
    12 45 345 500 invalid 33 invalid 21
    how can i solve this???

    According to the stack trace it's crashing when readLine tries to make more room for the line of text being read.
    It's either that or you really are storing more data than you have room for, and 2,500 lines is not a very large file.It did occur to me that he might be trying to read a binary file as if it were a text file.

  • Can't figure out how to read from .txt file...

    It looks so simple:
    I have a txt file with one line in it:
    1038It is actually a highscore for a little game. But how do get this out of the file into an int?
    Thank you.

    this reads out a complete text file:

    BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(fis);
    DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(bis);
    String tmp = "";
    while ( dis.available() > 0 ) { tmp += dis.readLine() + "\n"; }
    dis.close();
    bis.close();
    fis.close();
    } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
    if you want to convert string to int use

I should write the A, B and C numbers in the respective series to the file 2.txt. I am able to write them in a straight forward case but I want to write the next triples (A B C) in the next row. Like this;

    A2 B2 C2
    A3 B3 C3

  • Making the vi faster - read from txt or array or binary reading

    I prepared a vi that reads a table from txt file and find the desired values corresponding independent two variables by interpolation-attached. This via reads the txt file for each calculation. I wonder that is this process slow or enough for me. Becasue I add this via to a daq vi and I send measurement values from this via to the interpolation.vi. I acquired samples once in a sec. Or is this more convenient to read the txt once and after writing values to arrays and use these arrays as a constant (Right click array-->Data Operation-->Make current value default) in the vi? Which one is faster? And also, I wonder that instead of reading from txt file, is it a good way to convert my values in txt to binary data and read this binary values by vi? Reordering your words a bit... Are you asking how to measure how long it takes to run your VI?  You can do this with a sequence structure (one of the few reasonable uses for them): in the first frame put a "Tick Count" or "Get Date/Time in Seconds" function.  In the next frame put your code.  In the last frame, put the same function that you placed in the first frame.  Subtract the time value in the first frame from the value in the last frame; the difference is the time it took to run your VI in milliseconds or seconds (depending on which time function you used).
    Another option is the VI Profiler, under Tools -> Performance and Memory.  Open that window, click "Start," run your code, and click "Stop."  It will report how much time it took to run your VI along with other timing information.
    Thank you nathand. I am sorry for usage of wrong order. I tried your suggestion and it works great. The first vi takes 4-6 msec. And the second one takes just 0 msec because it does not calculate anything, including just constant values.

  • How do i do the replacement by reading from a file ?

    The multibyte representation in cloumn 2 in the input file is encoded in UTf8 format.
    I have the code to get the code point value from a multibyte representation.
    But i am not sure how to do the same when reading from a file.
    A better explanation of the requirement is like this,
    I have a java program ,i have a String="test";
    I traverse the string
    on encountering the character 't' i read from the input file ,the input file has the characters m to z listed in it, and it also has the UTF8 encoded multibyte representation in it.
    I then read from the file
    I search the file to get he character 't'
    on gettin the character 't' i get the corresponding multibyte representation from the input file
    Then i get the unicode code point value for the multibyte representation that i got from the input file.
    Lastly i replace the character 't' in the string with the unicode code point value 3046
    Hope the requirement is clear
    Please do help
    Any help would be very useful

  • Format precision apparently ignored when using read from spreadsheet file

    I hope there is ridiculously simple solution to this problem but so far I can't find it. Using the Read from Spreadsheet File function in LabVIEW7.1, I can't get the floating point format (%f) to work; the decimal (%d) seems to work fine. For example, the first value in the attached file is 399.5853. When I read it in using %.2f format I would think I should get 399.58 but instead I get 399.58529663... Oddly if I use %d as the format, I get an as expected value of 399. Can anyone see what I am missing?
    Attachments:
    ReadFileTEST.vi ‏23 KB
    test.txt ‏1 KB

    The solution to the problem is the internal representation of floating point numbers: with a limited number of bytes only a limited number of the (infinitely many) real numbers can be represented. The nearest representable number to 399.5853 is 399.58529663 if the so-called single precision representation (abbr. SGL in Labview) is used.
    It seems that (ridiculously!) NI has chosen to use SGL as the data format in the Read from Spreadsheet VI which causes the unexpected behaviour you observed.
    You can change the representation from SGL (which uses 4 bytes) to DBL (double precision, using 8 bytes) in the Read from Spreadsheet VI and you will observe a better approximation then, but still not 'exact' since the number now reads 399.585300000000018. (With t
    he EXT representation, 10 bytes, you could go to even higher precision)
    I hope someone from NI reads this and they fix the unnecessary limitation of the precision in the Read from Spreadsheet VI.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
