Dynamically generating text item in developer

Hi,
I am developing applicationn in developer 6i and I am facing problem regarding
displaying records in form. My query is
select ename, edept from sale where city = 'NYK'
suppose this query fetch 10 records and I dispalyed them in developer but problem is that I donot
want to display scroll bar in form and only 10 text items to display 10 record.
some times my query fetch 15 record and I have opted to display 10 record and unchecked the
scroll bar in FORMs designing it displays 10 records and 5 records where shown when i use
key board to go down and then I can see them.
kindly tell me whether I can use some commands to generate text items
dynamically depending upon my records.
If I have ten record then only 10 text items will be displayed and if 15
then only 15 text items.
Thanks

Hi,
You cannot create items at run time.
You could create the items at design time in a control block and programatically show or hide them based on a query to retrieve the details you need.
I would ask why you want to do this. Enable the scrollbar, let the users scroll up and down and you get all the functionality for free. No need to create a control block, populate it, control the number of displayed items, considerations on canvas size when number displayed would overflow canvas.
Oracle spends billions of dollars developing software so you don't have to go through the pain.
If you cannot simply do something in forms, then question the requirement, not try to re-engineer Forms

  • To dynamically  generate text box using javascript

    hi...
    i want to have a button such that if he clicks that button 2 textboxes be generated side by side.
    i want the textboxes to be added just above the button so that the button is always below the newly created textboxes.
    its not only once i want this ..i want that whenever he clicks the button 2 textboxes gets added everytime...
    how can i achieve this?
    thanks

    Ok, so this is a complete thread hijack - probably would have been worth a new thread.
    The initial solution involved javascript completely.
    The problem breaks down to
    1 - identify when we should move focus
    2 - identify which field focus should move to.
    Here is one version. This approach gives each textfield an individual name/number so you can find its "matching" pair.
    <html>
    <head>
      <script>
      var numLinesAdded = 0;
      function focusNext(tBox){
        var name = tBox.name;
        var index = name.substring(name.indexOf('_')+1);
        var brother = eval("document.all.txt2_" + index);
        var l = tBox.value.length;
        if (l >= tBox.maxLength){
          brother.focus();
         function generateRow() {
         var d=document.getElementById("div");
         d.innerHTML+="<input type='text' maxlength='5' name='txt1_" + numLinesAdded + "' onkeypress='focusNext(this)'>";
         d.innerHTML+="<input type='text' name='txt2_" + numLinesAdded + "'><br>" ;
         numLinesAdded++;
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form>
    <div id="div"></div>
    <input type="button" value="Add" onclick="generateRow()"/>
    <input type="submit">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>

  • How to fetch dynamically generated text file

    Caveat: I'm actually using CSP, not JSP, but the scripting methods are very similar. A JSP answer will probably apply to CSP as well.
    Currently, I have a dynamic content page that which I fetch on a submit action using response->getRedirectURL("xxx") where xxx is the URL of the dynamic page. The page displays fine in the browser, but what I would like to have it do is cause a file save dialog to appear so that the user can save the page as a text file.

    Set the MIME/ content type to "text/plain"
    You then need to tell the browser to not try and render the contents but to treat it as an attachment.
    Set the header "Content-Disposition" with the value "attachment; filename="yourFilenameHere".
    And you do realize, posting about CSP here might get you flamed :)

  • How to generate database text items at run time in oracle forms 6i?

    i have a text item with NUMBER OF ITEMS DISPLAYED=3. My requirement is, i need to generate text items at run time under each TEXT ITEM(3 text items will be there since number of items displayed is 3) and the values will be stored in the database based on the primary key combination. pls help me to solve this pblm

    Hi,
    You cannot generate items dynamically at runtime. The only thing you can do is show and hide item on time. Thay seems that they are generated at run time. Second thing you can do is that you can put items on stack canvas and set visible property of stack canvas to no and at run time set it to visible according to ur condition. Otherwise there is no way. If you find any other way, plz do inform here also.

    so on. I have about 90 tables from where data could be required to view and edit. They all have varying number of columns.

    Forms supports NLS_LANG=UTF8, so you could create Unicode application and there should not be problems with any symbols.
    Unfortunately, if you already have an application, there may be some parts of the code that may work with NLS_LANG=UTF8 incorectly, so you will have to rewrite them. For instance: system calls (DDE, OLE2, TEXT_IO package, HOST build-in), C code (ORA_FFI package, User Exits) etc...

  • How to create label & text items in a page dynamicly(TOP URGENT)

    Dear all;
    did any1 tried before to create a PLSQL which can create labels or text items?!! i have a page which i want to create labels according to the count of rows in the Database table?
    Regards;

    I would first try creating an 'On Load - Before Header' PL/SQL Computation to count the rows, and store the result in a hidden page/application item, e.g. P120_ROW_COUNT.
    Then in the label of the item, put &P120_ROW_COUNT. as the Label Text.
    I haven't tested it - but it should work.

    Hi,
    You can create two blocks for this. One is an unbound block which consist of a text box with a command button. Other block is a bound block from your table(multiple rows block). In hierarchical, unbound block should above above bound block, which makes the focus control goes first to the text box. When the user type the dept code and click on the button it goes to bound block and execute the query.
    you can write code in the command block as below
    set_block_property('<boundblockname>',default_where,'deptno = '||:ti_DEPTNO);
    go_block('<boundblockname>');
    execute_query;Best Regards

  • Meaning fails to generate correct code for text item in designer reports

    I have a text item in a report which is a table column governed by a domain. When the display type is set to TEXT and the Show Meaning property is set to MEANING ONLY - the code generation fails as follows:
    WHERE NTC.ICO_ID = L_ICO.ID AND
    L_ICO.ISS_CAT_CODE = L_ISS.CAT_CODE AND
    L_ICO.ISS_LEGI_CODE = L_ISS.LEGI_CODE AND
    NTC.DEM_ID = L_DEM.ID
    CG.RV_DOMAIN = 'NOTICE TYPE' AND CG.RV_LOW_VALUE = NTC.NOTICE_TYPE
    The failure is caused because the AND is omitted from the last condition in the query. (the part that gets the meaning from cg_ref_codes).
    Can anyone advise on a solution to this?

    Sander,
    Your concerns about renaming the new release 4 libraries to ofg*65.pll are understandable, but it is exactly what you have to do. The only customizations we made to the ofg* libraries in Headstart 6i are workarounds for Designer bugs that were present when we wrote Headstart 6i (at that time we used Designer release 2). These bugs have been fixed by now, so it is safe to use the Release 4 versions and get rid of the ones that shipped with Headstart 6i.
    We recommend still renaming them to ofg*65.pll, for an explanation see the Headstart User guide or the Headstart Installation Guide.
    Kind regards,

  • Assign an lov dynamically to a text item

    On a form, I have created static lovs LOV2,LOV3. I have text items t1 and t2. Depending on the value of t1, I would like to assign either lov2 or lov3 to t2. Is this possible? I would really appreciate any help. Regards,Suma.

    Hi Mr.Kubicek,
    Thank you so much for the quick response. Appreciate it so much. Only one dilemma, is that at this particular point of transaction I am still in the middle of capturing the user's data input and am not completed with the record. How would it affect the page submission? Also, I was wondering if there is a posssibility to use Javascript to avoid multiple page submissions. Iam new to using APEX, so please pardon my ignorance.

  • Dynamic tip text for messageLovInput item

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create dynamic tip text for a messageLovInput bean using the following code. All I get is this in the text below the field: [email protected] Code snippet:
        OAMessageLovInputBean adsiBean = (OAMessageLovInputBean) webBean.findChildRecursive("AdsiProf");
        OAFormValueBean adsiDescBean = (OAFormValueBean) webBean.findChildRecursive("AdsiProfDesc");
        OADataBoundValueViewObject adsiProfDescBoundValue = new OADataBoundValueViewObject(adsiDescBean, "AdsiProfDesc");
        adsiBean.setAttributeValue(TIP_ATTR, adsiProfDescBoundValue.toString());jDev version: 10.1.3.3.0.3
    Oracle DB: 10.2.0.3.0
    EBS: 12.1.1
    Any help is truly appreciated!
    TIA
    Alka

    Try removing the toString() call here:
    adsiBean.setAttributeValue(TIP_ATTR, adsiProfDescBoundValue.toString());so it looks like this:
    adsiBean.setAttributeValue(TIP_ATTR, adsiProfDescBoundValue);

  • Dynamic binding of items in sap.m.Table using XML views

    Dear SAPUI5 guru's,
    Let's start by saying I'm an ABAP developer who's exploring SAPUI5, so I'm still a rookie at the time of writing. I challenged myself by developing a simple UI5 app that shows information about my colleagues like name, a pic, address data and their skills. The app uses the sap.m library and most of the views are XML based which I prefer.
    The data is stored on an ABAP system and exposed via a gateway service. This service has 2 entities: Employee and Skill. Each employee can have 0..n skills and association/navigation between these 2 entities is set up correctly in the service. The data of this service is fetched from within the app using a sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel model.
    The app uses the splitApp control which shows the list of employees on the left side (master view). If a user taps an employee, the corresponding details of the employee entity are shown on the right (detail view).
    Up till here everything is fine but I've been struggling with my latest requirement which is: show the skills of the selected employee in a separate XML view when the user performs an action (for the time being, I just created a button on the detail view to perform the action). After some hours I actually got it working but I doubt if my solution is the right way to go. And that's why I'm asking for your opinion here.
    Let's explain how I got things working. First of all I created a new XML view called 'Skills'. The content on this view is currently just a Table with 2 columns:
    <core:View xmlns:core="sap.ui.core" xmlns:mvc="sap.ui.core.mvc" xmlns="sap.m"
      controllerName="com.pyramid.Skills" xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <Page title="Skills"
           showNavButton="true"
           navButtonPress="handleNavButtonPress">
      <content>
      <Table
       id="skillsTable">
      <columns>
      <Column>
      <Label text="Name"/>
      </Column>
      <Column>
      <Label text="Rating"/>
      </Column>
      </columns>
      </Table>
      </content>
      </Page>
    </core:View>
    The button on the Detail view calls function showSkills:
    showSkills: function(evt) {
      var context = evt.getSource().getBindingContext();
      this.nav.to("Skills", context);
      var skillsController = this.nav.getView().app.getPage("Skills").getController();
      skillsController.updateTableBinding();
    Within 'this.nav.to("Skills", context);' I add the Skills view to the splitApp and set its bindingContext to the current binding context (e.g. "EmployeeSet('000001')"). Then I call function updateTableBinding in the controller of the Skills view which dynamically binds the items in the table based on the selected employee. So, when the ID of the selected employee is '000001', the path of the table's item binding should be "/EmployeeSet('000001')/Skills"
    updateTableBinding: function(){
      var oTemplate = new sap.m.ColumnListItem(
      {cells: [
              new sap.m.Text({text : "{Name}"}),
              new sap.m.Text({text : "{Rating}"})
      var oView = this.getView();
      var oTable = oView.byId("skillsTable");
      var oContext = oView.getBindingContext();
      var path = oContext.sPath + "/Skills";
      oTable.bindItems(path, oTemplate);
    Allthough it works fine, this is where I have my first doubt. Is this the correct way to bind the items? I tried to change the context that is passed to this.nav.to and wanted it to 'drill-down' one level, from Employee to Skills, but I couldn't manage to do that.
    I also tried to bind using the items aggregation of the table within the XML declaration (<Table id="skillsTable" items="{/EmployeeSet('000001')/Skills}">). This works fine if I hard-code the employee ID but off course this ID needs to be dynamic.
    Any better suggestions?
    The second doubt is about the template parameter passed to the bindItems method. This template is declared in the controller via javascript. But I'm using XML views! So why should I declare any content in javascript?? I tried to declare the template in the XML view itself by adding an items tag with a ColumnListItem that has an ID:
                    <items>
                        <ColumnListItem
                        id="defaultItem">
                        <cells>
                            <Text text="{Name}"/>
                            </cells>
                            <cells>
                            <Text text="{Rating}"/>
                            </cells>
                        </ColumnListItem>
                    </items>
    Then, in the updateTableBinding function, I fetched this control (by ID), and passed it as the template parameter to the bindItems method. In this case the table shows a few lines but they don't contain any data and their height is only like 1 mm! Does anyone know where this strange behaviour comes from or what I'm doing wrong?
    I hope I explained my doubts clearly enough. If not, let me know which additional info is required.
    Looking forward to your opinions/suggestions,
    Rudy Clement.

    Hi everybody,
    I found this post by searching for a dynamic binding for well acutally not the same situation but it's similar to it. I'm trying to do the following. I'm having a list where you can create an order. On the bottom of the page you'll find a button with which you're able to create another order. All the fields are set to the same data binding ... so the problem is if you've filled in the values for the first order and you'll press the button you'll get the same values in the second order. Is it possible to generate a dynamic binding?
    I'm going to post you a short code of what I'm meaning:
    <Input type="Text" value="{path: 'MyModel>/Order/0/Field1'}" id="field1">
         <layoutData>
                    <l:GridData span="L11 M7 S3"></l:GridData>
               </layoutData>
    </Input>
    As you can see I need to set the point of "0" to a dynamic number. Is there any possibility to reach this???
    Hope you can help
    Greetings
    Stef

  • Making a dynamically generated field as Read Only

    Hi All,
    I am extending a standard CO and in that I wanted to make an entire table as read only. I checked by personalizing the page from front end, but as the items are dynamically generated fields , they are not visible in personalize page.
    So is there any way to cach these fields and make them read only programmatically.

    Hi Pratap,
    I have looked into the view source and took the name of a input type ( There is no ID for the field) and used it in findIndexedChild, but it returns a null. I guess this is happening is the current CO is a mere region level CO and it is not being given the access.
