Want to type special symble in Developer Text item

Dear users
i want to type some special symble in Oracle Devleoper text item i m using Developer 6i C/S..
i want to type symble like this i have a text item char data type..

any have any idea how can i insert that symble my text item i get that symble from Microsft Office..

Forms supports NLS_LANG=UTF8, so you could create Unicode application and there should not be problems with any symbols.
Unfortunately, if you already have an application, there may be some parts of the code that may work with NLS_LANG=UTF8 incorectly, so you will have to rewrite them. For instance: system calls (DDE, OLE2, TEXT_IO package, HOST build-in), C code (ORA_FFI package, User Exits) etc...

You cannot change the datatype at runtime.
Start with a CHAR item then do the corresponding cast (NUMBER or DATE)

How to disable copy option for a text item in oracle forms

Hello experts,
I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 at windows7.I have a text item in my oracle form and I have to disable to being copy from a text item in oracle forms.Actually I have to make two text item.First text item to type a password and another text item is also to type password.Here I want that the data from first text item should not be copy through the use of mouse or keyboard shortcut key.

Thank You To reply, Actually doing so as you said,My problem would not be solved.This would hide data in text item than I will not be able to copy that but in my case the data should not be concealed.Actually I have to make a Form to User registration and here is a strictly boundation to have a right email address of user.There would two text items for this purpose as: N_User_Email------> to type email address in text item.Here user would not be able to copy text written from N_User_Email R_User_Email ------> to type email address again as in N_User_Email.

How to populate sequence in a text item in a form

I have a text item in a form.I want that the doc_id i.e the text item should be automatically populated with the help of sequence.I have created sequence named seq_doc_id.on which trigger i should write the code so that everytime the doc_id gets incremented by one. I implemented a when-new-block-instance that does just that,
however due to navigation problems the trigger fires when it should not
the result is I got holes in the sequence.
Is there a system variable status to check with an If test
to make sure the sequence is called only at inserting time?

Assigning LOV return Value to multiple text items

Hi all
I have a custom form on which i have 10 text items
text item 1,text item 2 ....text item10
I have a table xx_querywith fields
text_item,query
i have inserted into the xx_query table
insert into xx_query(text_item,query)
values(text_item1,'select sysdate from dual');
insert into xx_query(text_item,query)
values(text_item2,'select sysdate-1 from dual');
I have created a record group dynamically and i am getting the query from the query column of the xx_query table into the record group(say test_rg)
I have created a LOV test_lov and thr set_lov_property i have populated the test_rg query into the test_LOV
is it possible for me to set the return item of the LOV dynamically so that i can get the LOV on the item which i want to ?

I have Created a control item and assigned the return value of the LOV to the control item
and i have assigned the LOV to the text item that i want
Currently when i navigate to the text item the LOV is visible
but when i select a value from the LOV the value is not getting populated into the text item
I have assigned the value of the control item to the text item
but i am not sure in which trigger to write the code so as when i select the value from the LOV the value should be shown on the form populating in the text item

Greek and latin on text item

Hello everybody!
I'm trying to write different types of languages on a single text item, like greek and latin. The type of font of the text item only accepts or latin or greek, but not latin and greek together.
Please, if anyone knows how do I get this tell me.
Is there a way convert unicode to character? Like chr(), but this function is ASCII to character.

Someone said that exists "nchr()" and
"unistr()", but these functions only work in 9i.
I need something that works in 8i.
If anybody knows, help me please.

Hi all,
I'm using Forms 6i.
I want to track the changes in a Text item.
I want to uncheck one check box, when the user changing the value of the particular text item. There are two ways to change the value of the text item.
1. The user can directly enter the value.
2. They can select the value from LOV associated with that text item. Sometimes they will not select the value from LOV simply cancel it also.
Which trigger shall i use.
I cannot use Validation & navigational triggers. since the cursor may or may not going to that particular text item and also the navigational(Both Mouse & keyboard) property is no.

If you choose the Blank under the sedon set (page layout), you will have to get a text box. I use that setting if I have a lot of images I want to insert and then have text around/near the images.

When you're done with that page, it should automatically move to the next one or you can choose another blank page in the pulldown in the toolbar.

You can use Text Edit.
Then from the Text Edit menu bar click File / Print.

Dynamically generating text item in developer

Hi,
I am developing applicationn in developer 6i and I am facing problem regarding
displaying records in form. My query is
select ename, edept from sale where city = 'NYK'
suppose this query fetch 10 records and I dispalyed them in developer but problem is that I donot
want to display scroll bar in form and only 10 text items to display 10 record.
some times my query fetch 15 record and I have opted to display 10 record and unchecked the
scroll bar in FORMs designing it displays 10 records and 5 records where shown when i use
key board to go down and then I can see them.
kindly tell me whether I can use some commands to generate text items
dynamically depending upon my records.
If I have ten record then only 10 text items will be displayed and if 15
then only 15 text items.

Hi,
You cannot create items at run time.
You could create the items at design time in a control block and programatically show or hide them based on a query to retrieve the details you need.
I would ask why you want to do this. Enable the scrollbar, let the users scroll up and down and you get all the functionality for free. No need to create a control block, populate it, control the number of displayed items, considerations on canvas size when number displayed would overflow canvas.
Oracle spends billions of dollars developing software so you don't have to go through the pain.
If you cannot simply do something in forms, then question the requirement, not try to re-engineer Forms

We have to write few query which will search for email id in the Oracle Text.
The Search text will be like <[email protected]> .
So email id should be searched correctly with the @ symbol.
Similarly we want the following special character to be searched in the Text like ",',*

You will need to escape the special characters by either using \ in front of each special character or putting {} around the whole phrase that contains the special characters, as per the online documentation:

I am not being critical, but you seem to want Safari to behave exactly like Chrome. Every software developer has a plan. Sometimes features in one product parallel other products - sometime not. There might be some things available that would help you. Do not hold your breath, however, for suggestions from people who use these forums. Most of us use (and like) Apple products. If you wish to make suggestions for future improvements, there is a feedback area on this web site that Apple employees read/review.
Candidly, your approach would be akin to suggesting that Apple emulate the "features" in Windows (heaven forbid).
I use Safari (and have for years). I use Firefox (not a bad product) as my alternate browser.
Sorry for what appears to be a pedantic lecture. However, I think most of us adapt to different products if we really want to use them.

In my business it is critical that I be able to enter numbers in the format I choose. I want to type "0800" or "20.00"; Pages automatically "corrects" the entries to: "800" and "20." ! How can I turn this automatic correcting OFF? I am a relatively new user of Pages and cannot find a means of turning the autocorrect OFF.or of setting the number formatting rules.

Pages v5.5.2 does not change 0800, or 20.00 when entered as body text for me. There is nothing in substitution, or Pages preferences settings that can effect these values.
However, when typed in a Pages table cell with the wrong data format, mischief does occur. In order to preserve 0800, select the Cell tab on the format panel, and set the cell data format to Text, or a custom data format. To preserve 20.00, you must set that cell data format to either Automatic with 2 decimals, or Number with 2 decimals.
