Dynamically removing objects

Hi all,
I am trying to remove objects at run time using a delete button but I keep getting an error saying
"no capability to write children". I have set the detach() capability on the Branch Group for adding the object and have set all the relevant capabilities(as far as i can see).
I can add objects at run time to the scene but cant figure out why I keep getting this error.??
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Cheers,
Dave

I'll assume you have something similar to this:
Group g
|-----> Other stuff
\-----> BranchGroup bg
g must have the capability Group.ALLOW_CHILDREN_WRITE set. bg must have the capability BranchGroup.ALLOW_DETACH set.
Then, you remove bg like this:
g.removeChild(bg);

• HOW TO remove nodes add nodes dynamically create objects branchgroup

After much trial and error, frustration and reading this forum I have come across a good way to dynamically add/remove objects. This is working in my model with 1.3 and jdk 1.4.1_02 Sorry if its sloppy.
Here goes:
Adding objects (cap bits may not be optimised):
(A)
BranchGroup newDynObj = null;
switch (workerType)
case 1: //create a rawEntry BranchGroup
newDynObj = new RawEntry();
break;
case 2: //create a Finshed Node
newDynObj = new FinishedNode();
break;
default:
newDynObj.setCapability(BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_EXTEND);
newDynObj.setCapability(BranchGroup.ALLOW_DETACH);
newDynObj.setCapability(Group.ALLOW_CHILDREN_READ);
newDynObj.setCapability(Group.ALLOW_CHILDREN_WRITE);
Transform3D t = new Transform3D();
t.set(scale, new Vector3d(xpos, ypos, zpos));
TransformGroup objTrans2 = new TransformGroup(t);
objTrans2.setCapability(TransformGroup.ALLOW_TRANSFORM_WRITE);
objTrans2.setCapability(TransformGroup.ALLOW_TRANSFORM_READ);
objTrans2.setCapability(TransformGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_READ);
objTrans2.setCapability(TransformGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_WRITE);
objTrans2.setCapability(BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_EXTEND);
Sphere obj = new Sphere(1.0f, Sphere.GENERATE_NORMALS | Sphere.GENERATE_TEXTURE_COORDS,
5, app);
//add to scene graph
objTrans2.addChild(obj);
newDynObj.addChild(objTrans2);
newDynObj.compile();
return newDynObj;
call this ftn with:
Space3DPanel.objTrans.addChild(createObject(createAppearance(workerType), 0.04, x, y, z, 2)); where objTrans is your tansformGroup
Removing branchgroup:
Its easy to add. But the trick is to delete/remove these !?! Detach doesnt seem to do anything. The method/pattern that works for me is to..
1. make a new class subclassing BranchGroup like this:
public class FinishedEntry extends BranchGroup
{ private String type;
public FinishedEntry(){  }
public FinishedEntry(String type)
{ this.type = type; }
and
public class RawEntry extends BranchGroup
private String type;
public RawEntry(){  }
public RawEntry(String type)
{ this.type = type;}
2. To when adding the BG to the TG of the parent (objTrans)
add a BG of the type you subclassed.
see (A) above.
3. Now scan through the children of the TG that you have been adding these children to. Like this:
static synchronized public void removeNodeFromModel(int workerType)
try {
switch (workerType)
case 1: //raw Entry
for (int i = 0; i < Space3DPanel.objTrans.numChildren(); i++)
if (Space3DPanel.objTrans.getChild(i) instanceof RawEntry)
Space3DPanel.objTrans.removeChild(i);
break;
break;
case 2: //result Entry
for (int i = 0; i < Space3DPanel.objTrans.numChildren(); i++)
if (Space3DPanel.objTrans.getChild(i) instanceof FinishedNode)
Space3DPanel.objTrans.removeChild(i);
break;
} //end for
break;
default:
} catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
The main idea is to use instanceof !! then use removeChild (see above).. Also, you can compile your BGs using this method.
Thanks for the great forum!

First, to add child nodes to a branch group, you must follow two rules:
(1) The child you are adding to the branch group is also a BranchGroup
(2) The BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_EXTEND capability is set
From here, you are able to add children on the fly.
To remove a child from the branch group was harder to figure out, but I eventually got it to work. To accomplish this you must do the following:
(1) have the capability BranchGroup.ALLOW_DETACH) set on the child BranchGroup you wish to remove.
(2) call the child's detach() method rather than calling the parent's removeChild()
Hope this helps.

• How to create dynamic View Object and Dynamic Table

Dear ll
I want to create a dynamic view object and display the output in a dynamic table on the page.
I am using Jdeveloper 12c "Studio Edition Version 12.1.2.0.0"
This what I did:
1- I created a read only view object with this query "Select sysdate from dual"
2- I added this View object to the application module
3- I created a new method that change the query of this View object at runtime
public void changeVoQuery(String dbViewName) {
String sqlstm = "Select * From " + dbViewName;
ViewObject dynamicVo = this.findViewObject("DynamicVo");
if (dynamicVo != null) {
dynamicVo.remove();
dynamicVo = this.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicVo", sqlstm);
dynamicVo.executeQuery();
4- I run the application module for testing the method and I passed "Scott.Emp" as a parameter and the result was Success
5- Now I want to show the result of the view on the page, so I draged and dropped the method from the data control as a parameter form
6- I dragged and dropped the view Object "DynamicVo" as a table and I choose "generate Column Dynamically at runtime". This is the page source

• Dynamic view object loses bind variables after passivation

I am creating a view object definition/view object programmatically in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0. The query requires a named bind parameter. All was working fine but now I am testing with app module pooling disabled and the bind variable is not being restored after passivation -- it's like the definition has disappeared or something.
Here is my VO creation code:
ViewObject vo = findViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO");
if (vo != null){
vo.remove();
ViewDefImpl voDef = new ViewDefImpl("FinalistsWithEvalDataVODef");
// I add a bunch of viewAttrs here...
voDef.setQuery(fullQuery);
voDef.setFullSql(true);
voDef.setBindingStyle(SQLBuilder.BINDING_STYLE_ORACLE_NAME);
voDef.resolveDefObject();
voDef.registerDefObject();
vo = createViewObject("FinalistsWithEvalDataVO", voDef);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", null, new int[] {0});
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("Bind_SchlrAyId", new Number(1)); //For testing
vo.executeQuery();
The query executes fine right there and then the VO seems to passivate fine. I even see the bind var in passivation:
<exArgs count="1">
<arg name="Bind_SchlrAyId" type="oracle.jbo.domain.Number">
1
</arg>
</exArgs>
But then when it reactivates prior to rendering the page, it invariably throws a missing parameter exception and this in the log:
<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7409] *** createViewAttributeDefImpls: oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatementWrapper@1af78e1
<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7410] Bind params for ViewObject: [FinalistsWithEvalDataVO]AwardViewingServiceAM.FinalistsWithEvalDataVO

<ViewUsageHelper><createViewAttributeDefImpls> [7412] java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
I have worked on this for hours and can't see anything wrong. Like I said, it works fine when not forcing passivation...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
-Ed

@Jobinesh - Thanks for the suggestions. I have read all the documentation I can find. Everything works fine without passivation. Everything still breaks with passivation. I have given up on trying to get the bind variable to restore after passivation and am currently just building the query with all values embedded in the query rather than bind variables. This is bad practice but avoids the problem. However, now that I avoided that obstacle, I'm on to the next issue with passivation of this dynamic view object, which is that the current row primary key apparently cannot be reset after activation. I get the following error:
<Key><parseBytes> [7244] Key(String, AttributeDef[]): Invalid Key String found. AttributeCount:1 does not match Key attributes
<DCBindingContainer><reportException> [7254] oracle.jbo.InvalidParamException: JBO-25006: Value 00010000000A30303033383133343734 passed as parameter String to method Constructor:Key is invalid: {3}.

at oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.activateIteratorState(ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.java:3877)
I've been trying various workarounds for over a day now with no luck. Very frustrating.
Thanks for trying to help.

• Creating and Accessing a Dynamic View Object

Hi,
I'm needing to create a Dynamic View Object so to have the ability to modify the FROM and WHERE clauses in an SQL statement.
I then need to view all the columns and rows in an adf table or something similar.
I've read up a fair bit on similar situations, however I'm struggling with the basic framework of building the View Object.
I know I'm wanting to use ..createViewObjectFromQueryStmt..but just unsure of the syntax in using it, especially connecting the VO to an Application Module.
This is similar to what I've got now, located in AppModuleImpl.java
public void createDynVO(ApplicationModule appMod, String FROMclause, String WHEREclause){
String SQL = "SELECT JOURNAL_NAME, PERIOD_NAME FROM " + FROMclause + " " + WHEREclause;
ViewObject vo = appMod.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView", SQL);
vo.executeQuery();But how does it know what the application module is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-Chris

Ok, I've actually modified my approach to this.
I've created a View Object in the design view, added it to the App Module, and then created an iterator and bound an adf table to that iterator.
The View Object which I created has the same column names as what I am going to be getting later down the track.
Everything is working perfectly, except that I can't seem to bind variables to the WHERE clause.
Below is what I have got running:
public void recreateDynView(String FromClause, String whereCompany, String whereDepartment) {
String sql_PAGE_ITEM1 = " AND PAGE_ITEM1 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM1";
String sql_PAGE_ITEM2 = " AND PAGE_ITEM2 LIKE :P_PAGE_ITEM2";
findViewObject("DynamicView1").remove();
String SQLStmt = "SELECT PAGE_ITEM1, PAGE_ITEM2, PAGE_ITEM3, LINE_ITEM FROM " + FromClause;
ViewObject vo = createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("DynamicView1",SQLStmt);
vo.setWhereClause("1=1");
if (whereCompany != null && whereCompany.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM1);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM1",whereCompany);
if (whereDepartment != null && whereDepartment.length()>0){
vo.setWhereClause(vo.getWhereClause() + sql_PAGE_ITEM2);
vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",null,null);
vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("P_PAGE_ITEM2",whereDepartment);
vo.executeQuery();
}However whenever I input a value into one of the bound variables, I get the following error on the page.
1. JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.InvalidOperException, msg=JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.
2. JBO-25070: Where-clause param variable P_PAGE_ITEM1 needs ordinal index array.In the view object which i created at design stage, I've set the binding style to Oracle Named, so it should be alright. But obviously since I'm removing the view object and creating another version of it, it doesn't have the same binding style attached by default?
Is there a work around for this? I'm so close!

• Dynamically removing Children

I have 36 images in a movie clip. Inside of that movie clip
there are 36 other movie clips containing one separate image. I
have figured out how to click on them and add it to the stage. BUT
i can figure out how to get them to remove when another image is
clicked. (ex. i click on image 1 it will appear on stage but when i
click image 2 it show image 2 on top of image 1.) the thing is i
dont want to have to click on the images in order. I so if any
image is clicked the one showing on stage will automatically
disappear. my code is attached. any help will be tremendously
appreciated.

Based on having seen the code, the problem I see with the
array is that I don't know that you can dynamically declare
objects. The problem is all of your awards are different MovieClips
which means each needs to be declared as in:
var award1:Award1 = new Award1();
var award2:Award2 = new Award2();
I could be wrong, but from my testing I was unable to do
dynamic declarations as in the example attempt below.
If it was me I would create an award MovieClip and have each
award image in a frame (with a frame label for each award). This
way you only have to add one award MovieClip to the stage and
button code for that one award MovieClip. This would mean some
decent adjustments to the existing code, which I may be able to
show later, but I am pretty busy for now.

• Get bind variables of a dynamic view object

I seem unable to retrieve the bind variables for a dynamically created view object, even though I can do the same thing for a regular view object.
Here is the code:
newVO = repServ.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("newQry",strSql);
VariableValueManager vvm = newVO.ensureVariableManager();
if (vvm != null)
Variable vars[] = vvm.getVariables();
vars will be empty, even though the sql statement in strSql has bind variables in it.
Is there any way to determine the bind variables of a dynamic view object?
Thanks!

I got the same problem as yours and still could not find any way out.
However, as I can see, you wanted to get VariableValueManager of newly created ViewObject that may be not available at this moment.
If you find way to solve the problem, please help.

• Paging issues using a dynamic view object...

I am working on an application that uses JAG to generate JSP pages, i had the requirement to use dynamic view objects where the view object query is generated at runtime. The rest of the application is more or less the same... I used the defult functionality provided by TableScrollButtons.jsp file for paging. Now the problem im facing is that while the '>' and '<' buttons are working fine, i cant seem to navigate to the pages using the drop down...
With the default handler, whenever i select the range the range displayed remains the same ie 1-10, 10 being the rangesize, but the rows are refreshed with values from the next page. Also, if the next page is the last and is incomplete, then the rows are pushed in from the bottom, so that the last page is always full...I tried the tuning panel in the view object edit dialogue and all settings are fine (i think)...could anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong??

could it be because i am using a dynamic view object with dynamic bindings? i am using the preparemodel() method in the action as follows...
protected void prepareModel(DataActionContext ctx) throws Exception {
inferRangeBindingIfUnset(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(false);
String sql = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("sql");
String cost=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("CostCostCent");
String event=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("event");
if (sql != null && event == null) {
setupDynamicQueryAndDynamicBindings(ctx,sql.substring(1),cost);
if (retrieveOnlyCurrentPageFromDatabase()) {
ViewObject vo = getIterForPaging(ctx).getViewObject();
if (vo.getAccessMode() != ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING) {
vo.setAccessMode(ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING);
// if(event==null)
super.prepareModel(ctx);
ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(true);
if (ctx.getEvents() == null || ctx.getEvents().size() ==0) {
setPage(ctx,1);
setLastPage(ctx,getIterForPaging(ctx).getRowSetIterator().getEstimatedRangePageCount());
else if(event.equals("setRangeStart")) {
setPageFromRequest(ctx);

• Lov based on a dynamic view object

Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.0.0_GENERIC_110531.1615.6017
Hi,
I have a database table containing a column with the Name of a Table as content.
I created a dynamic view and overwrite this with a method in Appmodule.
Then I add to the element in the main view the Lov. I execute the method in JSP page.
But the SelectOnechoice list is empty!
Where is the problem? How can I create a Lov based on a dynamic view object?
Thanks in advance and best regards
Edited by: NewBB on 12.08.2011 00:53

Hi Neliel,
thank you for your reply.
My problem is not the same. I can also see my dynamic view objects as selectonechoice. I have a table T1 has a column t1c1 (Number),
another table T2 (dynamic view object) with two columns t2c1 (Number) and t2c2 (varchar2).
In my application I want to represent the values of t1c1 as selectonechoice with the values of t2c2.
and that does not work. My list is empty. Any idea???

• Master-detail with dynamic view object

How can you create a view link with a view object that is dynamic? I have created a master-detail relationship on a UIX page. I change the master view object at runtime using a view definition and SQL and then I bind the view object to an iterator on a UIX page. I need the new dynamic view object to maintain the link between the detail view object. Is this possible?
The reason why I have to change the view object at runtime is because I am implementing a search module and the tables in the from clause can be modified at runtime so I need to have a dynamic view object.
Thanks,
Sanjay

After playing around with ViewObjectImpl's setQuery() method some more I found out that this solution might not work for me due to the following reason: when the user tries to sort a column in the result table, the original contents of the view object get executed instead of the run time query.

I would like to go back to my original solution that included creating a view definition based on the runtime query and then creating a view object from that which I bind to the RowSetIterator. The missing piece to the master-detail functionality is with the detail Iterator being in sync with the master. I have tried the following but I get a ClassCastException

DCIteratorBinding detailBinding = ctx.getBindingContainer().findIteratorBinding("DetailIterator");
detailBinding.getViewObject().setMasterRowSetIterator(masterBinding.getRowSetIterator());

• ABAP OBJECTS: Dynamic Create object

Hi folks!
I have a problem... I need to create a dynamic type object with:
DATA: my_instance TYPE REF TO class1.
CREATE OBJECT my_instance TYPE (class2).
* where class1 is a superclass of class2.
When I do:
my_instance ?= m_parent.
* where m_parent is an instance of class1
My problem is when I want to access to an attribute of the class2, the compiler says that it cannot find the attribute (this is OK, because the attribute is only in the class2).
My question:
Is there anyway to access to an atribute of second class when is not in the first class? (i don't want to create the attribute as an attribute of the first class).
Thanx!!!!

Hi David,
When you do the debugging, you are dealing with run-time - i.e., the program is now running and you are just interrupting it at each statement to examine the program state. You will reach the point where the object is already created. That is why you can see all those attributes. But when you comiple, the program is not yet running, so the attributes will be unknown because of the dynamic type specification.
I think you will have to redesign the program logic. As i had already said in my earlier post, it is not proper to have the attributes specified statically while the class itself is specified dynamically.
Your situation is somewhat similar to -
DATA ITAB TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI.
PERFORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
FORM TEST TABLES ITAB.
LOOP AT ITAB.
WRITE: / ITAB-CARRID.
ENDLOOP.
ENDFORM.
Hope the point is clear.
Regards,
Anand Mandalika.

• Dynamic Search Object for Payment Terms

Hi,
May i know the Dynamic Search Object for Payment Terms. I have to create a Advanced Search Page with Payment terms. I could not find the dynamic search object for Payment terms. Any help is appreciated
Thank you.
-Siddharth

Hi,
The search help for the payment terms is not coming from the DDIC search help..
It is coded in the process on value-request event...
The function module FI_F4_ZTERM is called for this..you have to change this function module in case if you want the values from a different table..
OR do implicit enhancement in the subroutine FORM HELP_ZTERM in the include MF02DFH0 to call your search help instead of the function module FI_F4_ZTERM ..And do the same for the sales order also..
Thanks

• How to enhance Dynamic Query Object TerrSearch (Territory Management)?

Hello Friends,
In the TerrSearch dynamic query object, There are 2 fields Territory_ID and Level_ID. Now i have a requirement to Enhance the Search object using the new field called TERRITORY PATH ID. using which we can search all the entities not only for the terrritory level which we have selected (for example we have assigned the value '01' to LEVEL_ID) but also all the below territory levels of selected territory level.
If we enhance the search object structure CRMST_TMIL_SEARCH (structure of TerrSearch object) using AET to add the Z field called TERRITORY_PATH_ID then which is the suitable BADI where we can add the necessary code to select all the entities based on all the territory levels below the selected territory level.
Please guide me friends how to enhance the TerrSearch object.

Hi friend,
Try using MACRO and dynamic WHERE condition.
Group simialr Select statements under a Macro.
Build a dynamic where by checking conditions
Call macro passing dynamic where condition.
TABLES afpo.
DATA: str TYPE string.
*Macro definition
DEFINE operation.
select single *
from afpo into afpo
where (&1).    " Dynamic condition
END-OF-DEFINITION.
*Build dynamic WHERE by checking some conditions
*If conditon
CONCATENATE 'AUFNR = ''000000700008''' 'AND POSNR = ''0001''' INTO str SEPARATED BY space.
*Else
CONCATENATE 'AUFNR = ''000000700008''' 'AND POSNR = ''0002''' INTO str SEPARATED BY space.
*Endif.
*Call Macro passing dynamic WHERE condition
operation str.

• Can I embed fonts of all Dynamic Text objects in a Flash file?

Hi there!
I'm fairly new to Flash, so please bear with me.
I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects. I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded. I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right. Having read the following documentation (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=Liv eDocs_Parts&file=00000893.html) I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time. However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step! The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.
I hope someone can help me. If you are able to help please spell things out in simple steps!! I am aware that I probably haven't yet grasped a number of the basics of Flash.
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Static text doesn't need to be embeded. So I'm not sure what the problem you are having is. The page you linked to is for making an embedded font in your library that can then be exported for actionscript and used by code and style sheets. If you are following the instructions on the page you liked to you only need to do that once. Which shouldn't be too hard.
That is usually a different problem that having a bunch of different authortime created textfields that need to have characters embedded.
As far as I know your only hope to change a bunch of authortime/library items is using JSFL. So even if the thing I pointed to isn't exactly what you need you could keep googling a bit or use that as a template.
JSFL files are just text files so open it in note pad. Look for the line:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip")
and change it to this:
if(it[i].itemType == "movie clip" || it[i].itemType=="button")
Now it does buttons. You give up too easy.
