Dynamically set available regions in Region Display Selector

Hi all,
assume the following:
I have a page with multiple regions including a Region Display Selector that displays rows of different types (e.g. Vision, Strategy, Objective, Tatics...).
All relevant regions are enabled to be displayed in the Region Display Selector.
Depending on the type I want to set the regions that can be displayed and hide the rest.
"Show all" in the Region Display Selector should only show all regions available for a given row type.
Currently I can hide and show a region and the associated entry in the Region Display Selector using Dynamic Actions but "Show all" does exactly what it's Name indicates: It displays all regions, including those I don't want to be visible.
How can I achieve the desired behaviour? Any ideas for a Workaround?

Apex 4.0 Region Display Selector export bug?

Dear reader
As we were very delighted to use the region display selector on a few pages, we noticed when taking an export of the application from development to test that the region display selector dropped one of the two selected regions. So we only saw "Show All"-"Region 2". Region 1 disappeared suddenly. Clicking one of the remaining options did not invoke something.
When going into the region attributes of region 1 and turn on "region display selector" back to yes made everything up and running again.
Has anyone been in the same situation?
It's pretty annoying when going from test to production as we can't modify the code in there once it's installed.

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately I have been unable to reproduce this. I created a page with 2 regions, set both their 'Region Display Selector' attributes to 'Yes', created a separate 'Region Display Selector' region, exported from 1 4.0.1 instance into a different 4.0.1 instance and all worked fine. Can I ask...
1) What version of APEX are you using for both development and test?
2) What theme are you using? I tested with theme 1 and theme 20 and hit no issues.
3) What type of region are your regions (HTML, Report, etc.) and what template are they using?
4) Can you verify that the application export contains a "p_include_in_reg_disp_sel_yn=> 'Y'," for the appropriate wwv_flow_api.create_page_plug call where your 'Region 1' is created?

Region Display Selector: Don't show the "show all" option

Is there a way to hide the "show all" option in the Region Display Selector ?
I want to have the user select 1 of several regions.

Region Display Selector - 2nd tab selected

Hello
I have implemented the Region Display Selector plugin and modified my APEX 4.02 page so that the 2nd tab is selected on page load (i.e. not the Show All tab). The code I used to achieve this is:
$('div.apex-rds-container li:eq(1) a').click()this is done on page load.
This works fine when the page is run on its own - but the page in my application is part of a jquery accordion. When the page is part of the accordion, the 2nd tab gets selected, but I still get all regions displayed initially - clicking on each tab works so that I only get the single region displayed, but I need to have it so only one region is displayed initially (i.e. the region for the second tab which is highlighted).
Can anyone help with this issue please - or suggest other resources that may help.

I spoke to soon.... The reason the code appeared to working is because I had an alert in the on load code of the parent page:
alert("wait");
$("OTHER").load(function (){
$('OTHER').contents().find('div.apex-rds-container li:eq(1) a').click();
});and I was waiting for the accordion to render before clicking ok to the alert. This was then giving me the desired result.
However, with the alert removed, all tabs are still displayed in the iframe page - so it like the code is firing before the accordion has rendered?
Any ideas on how to work-around this without the alert?

Is there internal message that can be translated for Region Display Selector "Show All" link?
I can do it with jQuery, but....I would like to do it by translating internal message. :)

Regions display name number of characters

I would like to increase the number of characters currently available in the Region Display Name, currently I am limited to 40. How do I change the number of characters avaialble to me?

Adding dynamic columns to region

I have four tables named projects,Sharedservices,Characteristics,Quantitystructures. The Sharedservices and Characteristisc tables are linked together using Sharedservice Id field. The Quantitystructures table is linked with Projects and Characteristics tables using Project Id and Characteristic Id fields respectively. I have a form that contains three select list items one for selecting the Sharedservice. When the Sharedservice is selected the Characteristic item gets populated automatically with the selected Sharedservice Characteristcs. The third item is the timestamp displaying the months from the Month table.
The region displays Project Name and the amount of utilization for the selected Sharedservice and the corresponding Characterisctic for a particular month.
Now what I want to do is that when a Sharedservice is selected dynamic columns should be added to the region depending on the number of Characteristics the Sharedservices has and they should be linked to the amount field.
The reason to do this is that I want the end users to just select the Sharedservice and then enter the amount of utilization for the respective Characteristics instead of first selecting them one by one from the Characteristics item and then entering the utilization amount by the projects.(The amount field is present in the Quantitystructures table)
I would really appreciate any help on this issue.

Hi,
I'm not 100% clear on what is on the page. "Column" usually refers to a column in a report or tabular form. Is this what you mean? Or do you want to show individual pages items?
Is the data for the characteristics being stored as individual records on the table for each characteristic? Or, is there a single record for all characteristics for each Sharedservice and you want to show/hide some of these?

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:

How to set the region in system preferences?

Hi all. I just bought my macbook pro with retina. I choose the country as United States when I set up the mac. After that it asks me whether to transfer documents from another PC. So I transfered my documents to the new mac. There are some Chinese documents.
Now calendar displays the dates in Chinese instead of English. I tried to set the region to US in system preferences and restart the system, but it always change back to "Chinese" in the region tag.
How can I make my mac into a pure English one?

JSP, DataWebBean: How to dynamically set the where clause of query and display record

I have used ViewCurrentRecord web bean to display records from EMP table. I have to use the Dept_Id_FK from the current
record of the EMP table to display corresponding records of Dept table. I have a view object called DeptView in my Business
Components which selects all the records from the Dept table.
How do I get the value of Dept_Id_FK and use it to display the required records of the Dept table?
I tried to declare a variable and get the value of Dept_Id_FK but it did not work. My code is as follows:

First of all, Thank you very much for making use of the new topic format. It is very much appreciated.
As for your question, I think there are several different ways to accomplish what I think you want to do.
1. Create a view object that includes both Emp and Dept entities and join them there. In this case, your query would look something like this:
Select e.empno,e.name,...,d.dname,d.loc from emp e, dept d
where e.deptno = d.deptno
You should be able to create a JSP off of this view object that contains both the employee and department information. In this case, BC4J takes care of the foreign key to primary key coordination.
2. In order to set a dynamic where clause for a view, you need to do the following in your usebean tag:
rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"DeptView");
rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause("deptno=" | | m_DeptId);
rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
rsn.getRowSet().first();
You will need to do this in a separate usebean tag from the EmpView, since the usebean can only initialize one view object.
In other words, you would have your ViewCurrentRecord bean tag for the EmpView, then a separate one for the DeptView where you use the above code to set the where clause to display just the information for the department you want.
Another option, but one I'm not sure would work as well, is to create a master-detail JSP to do this for you. Usually a master-detail is a one-to-many (one department to many employees). Your request appears to be the reverse, but might still be doable using the same mechanism.
You set up relationships between views in your BC4J project using View Links. If you used the BC4J project wizard and created default views, some of these links may have been created for you. They are created when BC4J detects a foreign key to primary key relationship in the database.
You can create your own View Links using the View Link wizard. Select your BC4J project node and choose Create View Link... from the context menu. You will be asked to select a source view (Emp), and a target view (Dept), then select the attribute in each view that related the two of them (deptno).
Next, you need to reflect this new relationship setting in your application module. Select your app module and choose Edit from the context menu. On the data model page, select the EmpView node in the Selected list. Now select the DeptView node in the available list and shuttle it over. You should see DeptView1 via yourlink appear indented under the EmpView node. Save and rebuild your BC4J project to reflect the changes.
In your JSP project, you can now have the wizard create a master-detail form for you based on DeptView1.

Placing buttons in a region displaying an Interactive Report

Hi,
I have a page on which I am displaying an interactive report.I would like to place buttons on this region where the report is displayed-
- The first button right of the search bar of the interactive report
- The second button right of the first button.
- The third (exactly ) below the second button (still right of the search bar)
I am aware that if this where an HTML region,then I would have had the flexibility to place the third button in a new line without a problem,but can I achieve this in a region displaying an interactive report?
Is there any way to do this?

Create the buttons as region buttons in the IR region, with the following properties:
Button Position: Right of Interactive Report Search Bar
Button Alignment: Left Right
Enter *style="display: block; float: right;"* in the Button Attributes of the third button.

Use the Template to spawn a child page. File > New > Page from Template...
Save the child page as some_file.html and then preview that in your browsers.

DVD Player Hasn't set the REGION code

I just got a new MacBookPro (a replacement for one that had failed). Well, I restored all my data and am working fine... BUT...
I think all my settings think that I've already set the Region Code of the DVD drive. But, using a tool, I was able to verify that the region code has NOT been set.
How can I force DVD Player to set the region code of the DVD Drive? Right now, I can't play anything.

Hi Jack and welcome!
Until I read the last sentence my answer would have been: insert a commercial DVD intended for your region code (unhelpfully you don't say where you are!), i.e. NTSC for the US or PAL for Europe, and it will ask you set the region code for that DVD.
Remember: you can only ever do this five times, so best not to play DVDs from other regions.
But then you spoilt it all by saying "Right now, I can't play anything"!
What did you try to play?
Did you repair permissions?
