Dynamicaly add a shared lib using deployment plan

Hi,
I would like to dynamically add a shared lib reference to my EAR application.
It seems to be possible using deployement plan but to take effect weblogic want I redeploy the application.
When I update my application and if I choose Update this application in place with new deployment plan changes. (A deployment plan must be specified for this option), thre is no error but when I try to instanciate my class, I get a "ClassNotFoundException"
If I choose Redeploy this application using the following deployment files: it works fine but it is not compliant with my requirements (I don't want to redeploy for that).
is it the normal behavior or I miss something ?
Best Regards,
C.

WebLogic does the following if an application references a shared library:
Classes of the library are added to the classpath of the application and the deployment descriptors are merged in memory.
When an application (ear) is deployed weblogic creates application classloaders. Now if we add a shared library we need
to create the classloaders again (to load the classes of the shared library) - this can be accomplished by redeploying the
application.

  • Using deployment plan to change virtual directory mapping

    Hi all,
    Have anyone tried this before?
    I have a deployment plan to add virtual directory to my weblogic descriptors as follow:
    Inside <variable-definitions> tag:
    <variable>
          <name>LocalPath</name>
          <value>C:/</value>
        </variable>
        <variable>
          <name>VirtualPath</name>
          <value>/Temp/*</value>
        </variable> Then in to add the virtual directory to weblogic.xml:
    <module-descriptor external="false">
          <root-element>weblogic-web-app</root-element>
          <uri>WEB-INF/weblogic.xml</uri>
          <variable-assignment>
             <name>LocalPath</name>
             <xpath>/weblogic-web-app/virtual-directory-mapping/local-path</xpath>
          </variable-assignment>
          <variable-assignment>
             <name>VirtualPath</name>
             <xpath>/weblogic-web-app/virtual-directory-mapping/url-pattern</xpath>
             <operation>add</operation>
          </variable-assignment>
        </module-descriptor>But I have this error:
    Error VALIDATION PROBLEMS WERE FOUND C:\Users\Napoleon\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\upload\ReviewApp\app\planplan.xml:0: problem: cvc-complex-type.2.4c: Expected element 'url-pattern@http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/weblogic-web-app' before the end of the content in element virtual-directory-mapping@http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/weblogic-web-app:<C:\Users\Napoleon\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\upload\ReviewApp\app\planplan.xml>
    I also tried using the xpath for url-pattern as followed:
    <xpath>/weblogic-web-app/virtual-directory-mapping/[local-path="C:/"]/url-pattern</xpath>
    But I have the same error. The <url-patter> element is not added correctly to the virtual directory mapping tag.
    It is supposed to work. Anyone has done this before ? or is this a bug of deployment plan.
    Thank you very much.
    Regards
    K.

    Hi Jay,
    I have looked at your link and modified my plan.xml accordingly ( the original plan is automatically generated by weblogic ). But I still get the same error. Could you have a look and tell me what's wrong?

    This methodAction calls a Data Contol based on a POJO which is using a JAX-WS Proxy. This Data Control POJO is packaged in a separate JAR file named ServicesProxy.jar.
    Both ServicesProxy.jar and the ADF application using it are deployed as two distinct shared libraries used by webcenter portal application.
    An important information is that the error does not happen when debugging the ADF application on my IntegratedServer. The error happens only when deployed as a shared Lib used by webcenter portal application.
    This jar file ServicesProxy is used by other applications within our portal, so I think that the data control is properly created.
    Do you have any idea what could be the cause of such error?

  • Need clarification on deployment plan in SOA 11g

    Hi all,
    I am deploying composites using deployment plan through ant scripts. I have set the search and replace tags with the details. But I notice that the deployment plan does not change the server name for the following files:-
    1. File name :componentType
    <reference name="*" ui:wsdlLocation="http://mydomain.com/soa-infra/services/default/BPELProcess.wsdl">
    2. XSL files
    3. File name : Composite.xml
    <reference name="*" ui:wsdlLocation="http://mydomain.com/soa-infra/services/default/BPELProcess.wsdl">
    For all the other occurrences, the server name get modified as per the deployment plan.
    Question:
    1. Am I missing any thing in my deployment plan?
    2. If these could not be modified, will there be any issue when me migrate from one environment to another environment?
    3. Please provide your experiences on this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Have you put your "search & replace" rules in both sections, at the start (composite imports) and at the end (wsdlAndSchema) of the deployment plan?
    What version of SOA are you using? I've seen something like this behaviour in 11.1.1.3 version only.
    Have you made some changes in your project after created the deployment plan file? Maybe would be possible that your deployment plan is missing some elements like references and/or wsdl/xsd files?
    About XSL files, the section oracle-xsl-mapper it is not used at runtime so you don't need to worry about changing server names in that files.
    How are you verifying this issue? Are you exporting the deployed composite from Enterprise Manager marking the option to get the post deployment changes?

  • Remote deploys from Windows to Linux fail with deployment plans on WLS 10.0

    Hi there,
    We're using WLS 10.0.1 running in a RHEL environment (actually CentOS release 4.7 for development), and attempting to perform remote deploys from Windows work stations using the weblogic.Deployer ant task.
    It works fine when not using deployment plans, or when performing a remote deploy from a unix based work station such as a Mac. However, introducing a deployment plan causes a failure only when run from Windows.
    The log trace follows:
    weblogic.Deployer -debug -remote -verbose -upload -noexit -name obpservices -source C:\work\obf\ver4.0\services\target\obpservices.war -targets obEnterpriseServer -adminurl t3://wlsdev:7001 -user weblogic -password ******** -redeploy -plan C:\work\obf\ver4.0\services/src/runtime/deployment-plans/steves-deployment-plan.xml

    Is this a bug? Is there anything we can do about it? The chances of us upgrading WLS are very remote unfortunately.

    This is something you should definitely file an Oracle support ticket for. It's entirely possible there's a patch for this.

  • Configure dispatch-policy in deployment plan, wls 9.2

    Hello,
    We are planning to use deployment plans to configure applications post-compile time, such as assigning it a particular work manager which is defined globally. The problem is that weblogic seems to ignore the dispatch-policy configured in the plan, at least there is no evidence that the ejb is actually using specified work manager, even though it merges the plan with the descriptor.
    The sections in my deployment plan looks as follows:
    <variable-definition>
    <variable>
    <name>dispatch-policy_0</name>
    <value>wm02</value>
    </variable>
    <variable-assignment>
    <name>dispatch-policy_0</name>
    <xpath>/weblogic-ejb-jar/weblogic-enterprise-bean/\[ejb-name="xx.xx.xx.myejb"\]/dispatch-policy</xpath>
    </variable-assignment>

    Hi,
    I ran a quick test where I removed the work manager i referenced in the deployment plan, and behold, the server whined about referring to a missing work manager, so it "worked" all the time, there was just no way to test it.
    Anyway, than you for the help, it was really appreciated. :)
    Another thing I'm wondering about is XPath functions, and whether weblogic supports them in deployment plans. If I for example would like to insert the dispatch policy for some ejb with a name partially matching a string, I thought the XPath */weblogic-ejb-jar/weblogic-enterprise-bean[ejb-name/dispatch-policy* would do the trick, however this is not liked by weblogic since it requires name value pairs. Is there another way to use the contains()-function according to this requirement?

  • Deployment Plan

    I hv some question about the deployment plan.
    1) To change the fragment in xml, at deploy, the file is updated ?
    2) Can i use he to chnage any xml files ?
    Example, i want create a file to store an resource connection string, ridc.xml in WEB-XML, but i cant update the xml its possible ?

    Hi,
    Using Plan.xml file you can change either the J2EE Specific deployment descriptors like (web.xml/ application.xml, ejb-jar.xml ...etc) OR you can update the WebLogic specific deployment descriptors like (weblogic.xml, weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, weblogic-application.xml ....etc) But NOT the application specific XML files.
    Please refer to the following samples.

  • Reading the stabs.index section of Shared Libs

    Hi there.
    In order to produce developer-friendly stack-traces, I'd like to read the stabs info from our own projects to map the stack offsets to actual code lines.
    So far, I've sucessfully written the reader to handle the lazy stabs inside our object files, and I get the relevant mapping (using N_SLINE, N_FUN and N_SO). But I don't have much luck trying to find these actual .o files from the shared libs (using the N_OBJ stabs contained in the ".stab.index" section of the shared library).
    It looks like Sun Studio 11 (maybe earlier versions too) writes the stabs in an odd format in our shared-lib, so that only the beginning of the section is correct (only the one covered by the first N_UNDF) . After a while, the offset to the strings get wrong, even using the "correct" algorithm of adding the offset contained in the previous N_UNDF stab.
    So, I can read all the information correctly, except for the actual strings for each stab. I had a look at some other stab-readers (gdb and valgrind), and they suffer from the same issue as my code. Actually, even an objdump -G mySharedlib.so produces the same incorrect output. But obviously, there is a way of find the correct string pointers, as the dumpstabs tool works perfectly.
    Does anyone have any pointer to the actual trick needed to read the stabs ? I've already read "The stabs debug format", and the document provided by Sun (and linked from Chris Quenelle's blog): http://developers.sun.com/tools/cc/documentation/ss10_docs/stabs.pdf
    Cheers

    First of all, I should start by saying that in Sun Studio 12 all the
    Sun compilers will generate dwarf as the default debugging format,
    and you should be able to use the GNU binutils "addr2line" utility
    to query the line number information. The dwarf information produced
    by Sun Studio 11 (C compiler, for example) has a glitch that makes
    it incompatible with addr2line, but the glitch is fixed in our development
    release, and Sun Studio 12 (when it comes out) will work with addr2line.
    On Solaris, the addr2line utility is available as "gaddr2line".
    But I realize that stabs processing is also useful for the time being.
    Here are my ideas for what might be going wrong.
    If there are stabs that resulted from COMDAT functions then there are
    special formatting issues. The C++ compiler uses COMDAT to implement
    templates. The stabs.pdf document describes how COMDAT affects
    stabs. Search for the word COMDAT in the document. Because comdat
    ELF sections are merged at link-time, it might also help to run
    elfdump and dumpstabs on some of the .o files that are being put into
    your library as a way of understanding what's going on.
    Specifically, the string table offsets need special processing around
    any index stabs that result from comdat sections, so I suspect
    that's what's causing problems.

  • Can't add Shared Member using API

    I would like to create a lot of shared members.Using API I do it as following according to documentation: ESS_MBRINFO_T MbrInfo; memset(&MbrInfo, '\0', sizeof(MbrInfo)); strcpy(MbrInfo.szMember, (char*)mbrName); MbrInfo.usShare = ESS_SHARE_SHARE; sts = EssOtlAddMember(getOutline(), &MbrInfo, ESS_NULL, hMbr, &hNewMember); When I try to add shared member, then sts = 1060051.So I have to change names and after correct them manually.Using HAB API I can't add shared member too.Regards,Georgy

  • Using older shared libs for games ?

    Hi fellow archers,
    I like to play the enhanced Quake engine DarkPlaces (http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/) together with a few mods (namely SDQuake and Kleshik).
    Under Ubuntu 9.04 x64 DarkPlaces runs nicely as native x64 Linux app. Under the most recent version of arch64 DarkPlaces bombed out with an error message that the libjpeg version is too new. Something like Version 0.80 found but Version 0.62 is expected. Seems to me that even the newest version of Darkplaces is build against an older version of libjpeg than the one included in arch64. Libpng is also used by DarkPlaces since textures are stored as PNG.
    My Ubuntu 9.04 x64 shows the following libs:
    /usr/lib/libpng12.a
    /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0.27.0
    /usr/lib/libjpeg.a
    /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.0.0
    Is it "wise" to use a custom lib folder for DarkPlaces and set it via LD_LIBRARY_PATH ?
    e.g.
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/ds/dplibs
    Or can I simply install older versions of libjpeg and libpng without screwing up my arch64 installation ? I can remember that I also did install a few older libs on my Ubuntu 10.04 in order to get UT2k4 running.
    BTW: I would prefer not to recompile DarkPlaces against newer versions of libpng/libjpeg.
    TIA,
    D$

    Ok, thanks for all your replies !
    I will try out the approach using a dedicated lib directory for DarkPlaces under arch64.
    Unfortunately my 500GB HDD which I used for arch died
    So I have to wait until my new 1TB HDD arrives.
    stqn wrote:... but I guess if you want to play (and not rebuild) this game you don't have a choice..
    Well, the other not so slick option would be using the Windows version of the DarkPlaces engine inside a 32 chrooted WINE since for Windows all requiered libs (aka dll) are included in the right version.
    As usual shared libs also do have their disadvantages compared to statically linked stuff

  • [Resolved] Distributing a Python module that uses C shared libs?

    I did some research on distutils, and I managed to find fairly detailed instructions for how one could distribute a Python module with C extensions. However, I have a Python module which uses ctypes to run code from C shared libraries (more specifically: SDL, and related libraries).
    Basically, this is what I have:
    pslab.py # requires ctypes wrapper modules below
    sdl.py # ctypes wrapper modules require respective shared libs below
    sdlmixer.py
    sdlimage.py
    sdlttf.py
    # This is for Linux -- .dll for Windows, .dylib for OSX.
    libSDL.so
    libSDL_mixer.so
    libSDL_image.so
    libSDL_ttf.so
    Is there a "standard" way to distribute modules of this type (maybe some undocumented distutils method, or something I failed to find)?
    The Python files are not the problem (distutils can handle them), but I need a way to install the appropriate shared libs for the platform in question (if necessary), so that ctypes wrapper modules can find and load them.
    Last edited by Goran (2012-08-14 08:51:19)

    You could distribute those files ... but I wouldn't recommend it.
    I believe the closest thing to a "standard" is simply to list sdl as a dependency.  A package distributor should not try to manage dependencies for users (only inform them of the dependencies).  That is either up to the user, or (more often) the distro's package management system.
    If I download a program that uses gtk, I don't expect it to include all of the gtk too.  Rather, the documentation would simply specify that gtk is a dependency.  Are you going to also distribute copies of the python interpreter?  Perhaps I'm missing something, but why would sdl be any different than python itself?  It's assumed (or speficied) that the user needs to have these installed for your package to work.

  • Using the deployment plan to extend the security roles

    Hi,
    We have an existing application that has a set of security roles defined. This app has been deployed to Weblogic.
    We would like provide additional security roles through this application. Currently, we have been doing this by manually editing the web.xml and the weblogic.xml files and redeploying the app. Is there any way to achieve this using the deployment plan feature ? If yes, how do we do it?
    Regds,

    you can use the following deployment Plan xml file:

  • Creating an AQ using a deployment plan

    Hi,
    Does anyone have an example of a deployment plan to create an AQ and to run the sql to create the underlying tables ?
    I have created a SOA AIA-based process that uses AQ for it's JMS. I am currently attempting to deploy this process using the AIA best practice of annotate, harvest, extract Bill Of Materials, create Deployment Plan, deploy. I've been able to create a deployment plan that will deploy the composites and the MDS updates but I'm having trouble creating the correct deployment plan entries to create the AQ.
    I'm using 11.1.1.3g.
    Thanks in advance
    Gareth

    Queue creation example....
    create type EMP_QTYPE as object
    (EMPNO     varchar2(60),
    ADDRESS     varchar2(200),
    RESUME     clob);
    Begin
         dbms_aqadm.create_queue_table(QUEUE_PAYLOAD_TYPE=>'EMP_QTYPE', QUEUE_TABLE=>'EMP_QTBL');
    end;
    Begin
    dbms_aqadm.create_queue (
    Queue_name => 'EMP_Q',
    Queue_table => 'EMP_QTBL');
    end;
    Begin
         dbms_aqadm.start_queue(QUEUE_NAME => 'EMP_Q');
    end;

  • How to map a resource-ref in Jdev11 deployment plan editor

    Hi all,
    I have a ADF/BC web application where the BC4J application module does connect to a JNDI data source.
    The ViewController project does declare the Datasource as needed resource in its web.xml:
    <resource-ref>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/wlogDS</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    Now i need to map that resouurce-ref to an actual data source that exist in the application container at deploy time.
    As already in JDev 10.1.3 the deployment-plan editor provided during deployment from JDeveloper does not provide any means to enter the deployment mapping for that resourc-ref (When clicking on the node (which is named resouce-ref - that becomes very confusing in case you have defined three resource-refs in your web.xml) the right pane shows a gray pane without any edit controls) So I cannot enter the resource-ref-mapping unsing the Jdev UI.
    My workaround in 10.1.3 was to save the deployment plan to disk and manually edit it, adding
    <resource-ref-mapping name="jdbc/wlogDS" location="jdbc/wlogTestEnvDS">
    </resource-ref-mapping>
    to the orion-web-app document for that webapp
    But in Jdev 11 the deployment plan file format changed (including some binary inline checksums???)and when doing exactly the same thing, the loading of the manually edited file into Jdev Deployment plan editor fails with

    So no chance here to add a resource-ref-mapping. The alternative way of specifying a resource-ref-mapping using the web-based deployment proces of the Enterprise manager is impossible because the 11g preview OC4j does not include an enterprise manger web-application.
    So how do I deploy the application correctly other that manually modifying the deployed orion-web-app.xml file in j2ee/home/application-deployments/earName/warName/orion-web-app.xml after deploying the app without a resource-ref-mapping? Because doing that step manually each time is quite annoying.
    Greetings,
    Thomas

    Seems i'm slowly answering my own questions :-) I finally got my RMI service, even using several methods. But ...
    It doesnt help me as the lookups are not done on the context classloader it seems. That means i need to add all my service jars to the global class path causing massive sealing issues with the war contained jars. Pretty useless. All the needed stubs etc are in the war.
    But as it seems that the web app needs to contain deployment site info (sun-web.xml) anyway, i could just as easy read my own web xml from the context and resolve the services myself. But i do wonder how this is supposed to work with EJB and CORBA stuff. The samples actually also needed to add stuff to the global class path.
    I'm probably not the easiest customer as i write this kind of middle ware for a living but i really like sjsws. It makes my own one partly obsolete as it is almost as fast and has all the fancy deployment stuff (in my case i use an in-house mobile agent frame work and agents that travel the various networks ) and infinitely easier to learn to work with and understand In case anyone is wondering i wrote Uhura because 1. i needed speed so it is a servlet based webserver and not a web server with a servlet module. 2. could not wait on ibm to fix bugs in webspere and we only used the servlet bit. 2. i needed full J2EE security and 3. i needed it to run on many OS'es
    That is why i still need the same war files to be able to be deployed in both systems as i still need my systems going on IBM iservers etc.
    Again i would welcome some feed back on such and related issues
    Cheers,
    Peter

  • Deployment plan - can be packing to ear file?

    Hi Lads,
    I successfully deployed application on Application Server 10g Release 3. I'm using hibernate then in deployment plan I had to unselect toplink libraries. I need distribute my application. Is possible to add deployment plan somewhere to ear archive and server will automatically use it during deployment or this file must be distributed separately? Or can be toplink turn off in different config file ex. orion-application.xml?
    Thanks for help
    Robert

    I've had similar issues related to XML libraries. Here's an example orion-application.xml file that removes the "oracle.xml" library:
    <orion-application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
                       xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/orion-application-10_0.xsd"
                       schema-major-version="10"
                       schema-minor-version="0">
        <imported-shared-libraries>
            <remove-inherited name="oracle.xml"/>
        </imported-shared-libraries>
    </orion-application>You should be able to do something similar for Toplink...
