Dynpro in R/3 WAS

Hi ,
Can I deploy a webdynpro application to WAS of R/3 .
(Version 4.7)
I tried to locate SDM sh(RemoteGui.sh) but couldn't find.
Is there anything wrong ?

Also, understand that SAP now supports two stacks. The ABAP stack which is what R/3 runs on, and the java stack which is what your webdynpro(java) application will run on. You must have the java stack install on your WAS 6.40. There are different configs for WAS.
You can have....
ABAP only
Java only
ABAP and Java together.

Hi All,
Current Scenario -
We have deployed ESS & MSS Business package on one WAS and the iviews are present on another WAS.We have created a Dedicated R/3 system which is pointing to the WAS where these packages are deployed.
All these things are working fine i.e. once the user maps the id pswd it directly runs the Web Dynpro applications in the iviews.
That means, even if application is running on one WAS, and the user personalises data on another WAS, it still retrieves the credentials and shows the appropriate results for ESS MSS Packages.
Query-
Now i need to implement the same scenario in my Web Dynpro application
Steps
1) I have the WD application running on one WAS and portal on another
2) In portal there is a R/3 system created
3) The Web Dynpro application needs to know if the user has personalised mapping against that system created on portal(other WAS)
4) If yes show him the home page else take him to the login page.
Just as it is implemented for ESS MSS Packages.
How can i pass the mapped data to the Web Dynpro iview ?

As roles are in the UME, you can access them. But why do you want to do this? You could login to that user, but then the question is what you want to do....

Access users in a Web Dynpro application on different WAS ??????

Scenario - I have a local WAS on which i have deployed a Web Dynpro Based application.
There is another WAS on which I have portal installed. I need to access the roles assigned to a particular user in my Web Dynpro application.
Query -
I need to know can i access the roles assigned to a user on a different WAS in a Web Dynpro based application running on a different WAS.

I have a Web Dynpro based application which gets the mapped id and pswd of R/3 system created on portal
It works fine if both portal and Web Dynpro application are on same WAS.
Problems -
1) Can i run this application on another WAS other than portal.
2) Where would this system be created i.e. on the WAS where portal is present or where the application is present.
3)If the latter is true, can i get the mapped id and pswd of a system which is present another WAS.

Hi Samta,
I try to understand your issue, so generally you can separate all the entities using different WAS, but this is strange. Why you want to use different WAS??
Regarding the authentication you could use Single sign-on, choosing the target system for authentication. Some links here:

How to create a dynpro property on the WAS and get it in code?

Hello,
I remember that once I've read at the NWDS help that I can create dynpro properties which can be configured on the WAS's Configuration Adapter serviceand can be retreived when the dynpro application loads. I need to use it now but can't find the explanation and code example. Can someone please show me how to do it?

To chaneg the property value outside the application,
Goto configuration adapter -> WEbdynpro -> the app name. Under that you will find the property file
You can edit the file and restart the server.

How to customize error mess, when an Web Dynpro application Deployed

Hi Frndz...
When we r deploying any web dynpro application , if there was any error in that WDP application its showing an error page the list of errors with HOST name n patch level n OS details n so many n with the line number of that error in the code.. Normally.
But as my requirement i need to restrict the HOST,OS ,PATCH details in this list to avoid the security issues.
If anybody have any idea plz share with me...

Can I generate a CR (Carriage Return) in a dynpro entry field ?

My problem is the following
I have a card reader and the information of this card will go into a SAP dynpro entry field.
Now I need an addition CR (Carriage Return)
Is that possible ?

Basically this card reader is nothing more than any other barcode scanning or otherwise, so here is what I'm thinking. At my old company, we had a bunch of barcode scanners which connected directly with SAP, the user would scan the barcode and it would put the value directly in the dynpro field. This was great, but the user had to then hit enter. There was no way for us to control this on the ABAP side. We then discovered that in the barcode reader itself, there is some configuration around what is called a "postamble". This is a keystroke which is fired automatically when a barcode is scanned, or maybe when a card is swiped? Check your terminal and see if their is such a setting or configuration.

Using External Library in Web Dynpro - Error

Hello,
I want to use an external library in a web dynpro. I use WAS 6.40 SP12.
1. I have created an dc web dynpro app
2. I have created an dc external library app
3. I have importet the jar to the external library
4. I have published the jar as public part
5. I have imported the public part to web dynpro
If I build the project I get no error. If I deploy an run the project then I get an error stacktrace:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/netweaver/bc/rf/util/uuid/UUID
NoClassDefFoundError - I think the jar-file was not deployed. What is wrong?

Please explain how you are adding the jars into the publicpart of the Libary DC.
You need to create 2 public parts .
1. Assembly
2. Compilation
You need to add your jar to above two public parts.
Then you need to add above two publicparts to your webdynpro application.

"Field f1 may not work properly.Using Normal Data Binding when the default data connection is defined and produces undefined data results.

ERP2004: ESS JCO session handling in Web Dynpro apps?

we run ESS/MSS Web Dynpro scenarios, running on WAS 6.40, SP12 in
Enterprise Portal EP6 SP2 Patch 32. Our go live will be with > 1000 ESS users.
1. When will the sessions in R/3 backend system be terminated by the
Web Dynpro Application?
How is the session handling in FPM (Floor Plan Manager) implemented?
2. Are there any recommendations regarding the JCO connection settings
in Web Dynpro Content Administrator (Maximum Pool Size, Maximum Connections,
Connection Timeout, Maximum Wait Time) to reduce / optimize the load for the
backend system? I found a documentation in SDN but it is not
specific for ESS / MSS based on Web Dynpro.
Background of questions above: The customer is worry about the load on
SAP R/3 backend side: too much current users in the R/3 backend system,
possibly bad performance etc. because the JCO sessions are open a long time.
Are there any experiences with customers running productive ESS / MSS scenarios
based on Web Dynpro?

1. For best practices on JCO settings follow the tutorial below and do it accordingly for your no of users. YOu might have to do some trial and error procedure.

Web Dynpro ABAP: Documentation and help link

Hi,
I'm in the process of creating a Web Dynpro ABAP application and was wondering whether you can maintain Documentation for the application, as you would a standard ABAP report? I see the Documentation option in the Goto menu of the workbench, but it is inactive.
Also, i notice you can maintain a 'Help Link' for the application. Does anyone have any information on this as I can't find anything on the SAP Help website.

If you choose the Change/Edit button at the right side of the input field, you can navigate to the info object to which you want to set the link in the Knowledge Warehouse.
Of course, you need an info object in the correct context in the KW for this as well as a correctly maintained RFC destination to the Knowledge Warehouse system.

Web Dynpro iView - Blank Page

Hi,
we have a problem with our web dynpro iviews. Although there are all necessary fields of the iview template filled (application name, application parameter, namespace (sap), system, web dynpro for java and windows client) there only appears a blank page with a red X, when we preview the iview.
Before we've tried to create a web dynpro iview, we've created an url iview for the web dynpro and this one was working fine.. The problem was, that it doesn't display the application in our custom portal theme with an url iview - only the default sap theme was displayed.
I've searched in the forum, but I found not really something for our case.
It would be great, if anyone can point to what the error could be..

Check the SAP note: Note 1446099 - Web Dynpro application not displayed in customer theme
Try creating a Web Dynpro ABAP iview, you can find the template in Iview Template.
And in that make sure Supply Portal Stylesheet is set to yes so that it takes Portal Stylesheet.
Alternative to that is upload the theme to R/3.
To do that check SE38 program WD_THEME
Download portal theme
Once you have the Theme uploaded you need to make one more setting.
In SE80 WD_Global_Setting - goto Change and change Stylesheet URI and ensure the iView property Supply Portal Stylesheet is set to no.

Automate Web Dynpro Application

Hi
I was wondering if there is any way to automate the start of a Web Dynpro Application?
What I need to do is this. I need to basically poll an MS exchange inbox for a mail with a particular PDF attachment and then, if found, upload and save the data to the backend. - with as little user interaction as possible.
Does anybody know if automating the application can be done and how to do it?

Shared memory used in Web Dynpro ABAP

Hi Gurus,
I am using shared memory objects in Web Dynpro ABAP. Everything was working fine until we went live to production. After some research I realized that users are not always able to reach data in shared memory because of different approach of web environment and classic GUI when using more servers. Solution would be to go to database instead of shared memory. However I am still interested if there might be some other way to solve it. Any ideas?

To my understanding writing to the database is the safe option. There are no other ways to solve your problem with Shared memory.
