E-Mail Newsletters

I thought you could make up a newsletter in PS (Im using version CS2) and mail it.
So I made it up, saved as Jpeg, edited in image ready, sliced it up, added links.... but it would only refferance the computer.
next I opened an html page in Golive, dropped my newsletter Jpeg on it. It retained the links from before, but I unlinked them and re-linked them. In preview, it worked.
so they I uploaded it to my server, hoping I could open it and send it from the browser, but nothing shows up.
I rechecked the address, seems to be right. All the pictures (created from slicing I guess) are uploaded too. but I still get nothing.
what am I missing? and is there an easier way to make an e-mail able newsletter with links?

Very high memory usage with Yahoo Mail

After using Yahoo Mail for an hour or so my memory usage increases to a very high level.
Just now, after reading and deleting about 50 e-mails (newsletters etc.) I noticed Firefox 17 running slowly and checked the memory usage in Windows Task Manager (I am using XP) and it was 1.2 Gb. My older laptop only has 2 Gb of RAM. Yahoo Mail was the only thing open at the time.
I never notice this problem with Gmail which I mainly use. However I use Yahoo Mail for quite a few newsletters etc. that are less important and which I only check once a week or so.
I found the following bug report about 3 years old which almost exactly describes my problem.

But this report involves a much earlier Firefox version, and at the end it seems to say that the problem was fixed. However it well describes my current issue with Firefox 17, especially the continual increase in memory while using the up/down arrow keys to scroll through Yahoo e-mails.
Is this normal to have to shut down and reopen Firefox every hour or so to clean out the memory? For some reason I only notice this when using Yahoo Mail. After using many other sites and having multiple tabs open for several hours I rarely reach that kind of memory usage. About the highest I've seen with other sites after a couple of hours is 600 Kb which is roughly when I start notice slower response times.

Send a list item as a bulk e-mail using SharePoint 2010

My scenario is to e-mail newsletters to a group of users (running into 1000's) and we were thinking about any pro's and cons of using SharePoint here.
Preferable if the newsletter were embedded in the e-mail so there is no need to give permission to a user to visit the site (or do we have to anyway?)
Also, a functionality such that, every list item could have an option such as "E-mail to Group 1" or "Email to Group 2" that would allow the item to be mass e-mailed.
Group 1 assume to be a group of 500 individuals with only e-mail addresses known...
If SharePoint seems right, then can anyone suggest me how to go about this? If it is possible with OOTB/designer?

For you scenario, you could explore ECB Menu action using SharePoint designer.
The logic would be first fire up SharePoint designer and create an ECB menu to start a workflow ie initiate workflow in SharePoint designer (you need to create two workflows each for Group1 and Group2 to make it simple)
Next step would be to create a workflow to send an email to the selected group and use item values within the workflow to create the newletter.

Send mail with no sender address using Javamail

I'm trying to send emails using javamail, it works fine but I would like to send emails with no sender address. When I don't set :
message.setFrom(new InternetAddress("[email protected]"));
or do just
message.setFrom()
I get my_user_name@my_machine_name as the sender address when i recieve the email.
I understand the security problems about sending emails without sender but i need to automate the sending of confirmation messages that recievers can't answer to.

I get a lot of e-mail newsletters that say at the bottom "Please do not reply to this, nobody will read your reply". What's wrong with that? Set up an address and automatically purge any messages sent to it on a regular basis.
Or if you want a different way to annoy people, use an address that doesn't exist on your server. Then people get a bounce message when they reply to it.
You might also want to evaluate commonly-used spam filters and see if they filter out messages that don't have from-addresses. No point sending people messages if they get filtered out.

Mail isn't loading picture content

I am getting my mail but it's not loading the picture content. I am connected to the internet (wifi).
What could be wrong??

...yes, remote images is correct. i work on german language iOS, so terms are a bit different sometimes.
if pix are not loading on each and every mail you get, it seems to be a problem with your mail server (from your provider, gmail or yahoo or whatever). pix often are loaded only when viewing the mail, ie when the mail itself is loaded already. if your mail provider does not communicate with your mail program well enough and fast enough, this will result in a time out, so pix will not load. so you want to check your config there.
sometimes this is temporary (eg due to high traffic on the mail server), sometimes a security issue set up by your provider (i encounter this when i try to load my mail from a german server using an IP in asia).
when this happens only with non-private mails (newsletters, ads etc), pix usually do not come from your mail server, but from a different server. so there could be other reasons like your firewall being open to your mails, but closed for these particular servers. or some spam settings block these pix.

Advice on creating an email template in CS4

I have CS4 and am pretty good at using it. I want to create a templet that I can add my product and send out as a news letter. I am not sure how to do this. Can I build one in DW and cut and paste in imail? I also want to add this buttons so I can get clicks to my site. I would like the button to be in a cell with a description. I would also like to have my logo and additional graphics. Here is the button.

creating e-mail newsletters is quite complicated, if you want to do it properly. Even if you are good in creating websites with Dreamweaver, you may run into all sorts of problems when trying to create and send mailings. Apart from the design and coding itself, which should work in all e-mail clients and text readers you will want to manage your e-mail list, unsubcribes and bounces. You will probably also want to know who opened your e-mail and who clicked which link. Your best bet would be to use a service like http://www.mailchimp.com/ or http://www.campaignmonitor.com/
For the design you can use the free e-mail templates they offer, and change them using DW4 to suit your needs.
For sending your mailing and managing your mailinglist they will charge you a minimal amount of money, which is well spent considering what benefits they offer. You can try it out for free.
As far as your code is concerned, for e-mail newsletters you are better of using a table based layout to be sure your layout remains intact in all the diferent e-mail clients. Find some advice here: http://www.mailchimp.com/articles/how_to_code_html_emails/

HTML Email Project

I am needing to create a polished html email and then be able to send it out via Outlook. Similar to sending a mail merge in publisher but much more polished and html friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what programs that Adobe offers might help with that or any suggestions on the best way to get this accomplished? I really appreciate the help!!

Life of the new Retina MacBook Pro's FLASH Architecture?

Dear all,
How long does the new Retina MacBook Pro's flash based SSD memory last? How exactly is a "write" defined? If I'm going to be paying approximately 2K or more, I better be able to use this computer without problems for 6-8 years.

Why, when I make a table in a Thunderbird message, does it now make everything within the table larger, even though it doesn't look like that on my computer?

I have been using Thunderbird to send e-mail newsletters to members of an organization I work for. To do that, I have been using tables to make a coherent looking newsletter. Suddenly, sometime recently in an update or something, ALL OF THE TEXT that is inside the table comes out larger when it is sent. So all my formatting goes to hell. Anything that is OUTSIDE a table, however, looks the same as when I typed it, so it isn't the general formatting of Thunderbird. I have to save everything as a draft (several times, usually) just to try to get it to look right.
I am including two screenshots to illustrate what I mean. The first, called "compose.jpg" shows how I had to adjust the font size to make the tables work as I had intended. This is what I see when I am composing an email newsletter, not the larger font that appears once the email is saved. The second, called "draft.jpg" shows how this same (exact) email looks when it is saved or sent. (This one is saved as a draft.) Notice that the text at the bottom of the message has NOT been enlarged because it is outside the table.

No, the signature is not the issue, it is only an example of the issue. Compare the text size in the "compose" image with that in the "draft" image. For whatever reason, text placed in a table is magnified to be much larger than what I see when I compose it. But ONLY in a table. This means that I must juggle the size of the text after I prepare an e-mail newsletter (using tables for formatting) or it won't look like I expect it to.
This only began to happen sometime late last fall, which is why I wonder if it came as a by-product of some update. What I would like is to be able to specify that the text size I enter in the table remains that size when the email with the table is sent, preferably as a permanent specification, and not necessary every time I do one of these.

Ideas for future iTunes improvements

Pardon me if some of these points are already covered, in which case I would appreciate links to solutions.
1) The iTunes App Store could really use some fine-tuning. The categories are occasionally so broad that fine-tuning searches is difficult. For instance, "Music" is waaaayyyyy too broad not to be broken down into sub-categories, especially given that Mac and Apple are so deeply engrained in the general arts industry. I suggest:
- Notation (displaying, composing, writing of sheet music);
- Performance (instruments to play);
- Recording (obvious);
- Listening (managing audio files)...
...for starters, with option to apply more than one of these to an app at a time. BTW, I'm sure that experts using other types of apps could make similar statements.
2) I swear I once found a pull-down menu containing "Previous Apps of the Week," but I can't find it anymore. Well, anyway, it's a good idea, more so if you don't save or memorize all your E-mail newsletters.
3) In the left sidebar where you see the list of in-app purchase upgrades, it's really annoying not to be able to see the whole title of the upgrade. How about a mouse-over pop-up?
BTW, I normally use iTunes in full-screen at 1920 x 1080, and would appreciate scalable windows within iTunes for in-app file repositories.

I would like to see more instruments (like guitar models), or saved settings. What would be great is if GB could somehow help duplicate settings of an existing track, or offer some idea of how to get there. All the instruments in Magic GB are real instruments (or saved as such) and you can't just delete the track and start playing.
If not in the app, then here would be a good place to store settings with sound files so that people don't have to reinvent the wheel every time they need a new instrument. For example, let's say I want a rockabilly or jazz guitar sound. It would be nice to have a preset configuration with all the settings optimized. For each guitar type (as an example) people could post tricks they have found.

Personally I don't mind bumping a few topics here and there. For example if something requires attention. But just posting the word "bump" will be considered spam. The bump content needs to add some sort of value to the topic.

Hi!
I have two pbs using DW CS3:
1 ... images that are links have color borders I cannot get
rid of...
2....When I write some text and then send it via mail
(newsletters) some colors are changed ... I believe this is due to
the fact it creates a stylesheet that is not sent with the email...
how can I do so that it does not use stylesheet but normal html
values..? or maybe is it just a configuration issue... I don't know
