E-Sourcing web services

Hi,
I have a question relating to E-Sourcing capability to publish and consume web services
a) Can we create and publish new web services on E-Sourcing system. Intention is to create and publish custom web services that would enable external applications to access the web services and fetch data from E-Sourcing system on a demand basis
b) Does E-Sourcing have the capability to consume web services published by external applications. Similar to the Contract Generation web service that is available as part of the E-Sourcing application.
Any pointers towards this would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Balaji

Re: a) I believe itu2019s not possible to create and publish web service with E-Sourcing 5.1 and earlier versions. Supporting web service would require changes to the core E-Sourcing functionality and code.
Re: b) E-Sourcing can consume web services published by external applications. This could be done using the Integration APIu2019s available with E-Sourcing. You could use Axis or similar tools to build the stubs, develop the code, and deploy it as a custom jar. Once the custom jar is deployed, you could trigger it through E-Sourcing scheduled task or through a script.
Hope this helps.

Vikram

  • [ANN] XINS 2.1 open source Web Services framework release

    XINS 2.1 Web Services Framework has been released.
    XINS is an open source Web Services Framework based on simple specifications of the Web Service in XML and
    generation of code and documentation from the specification.
    The generation includes Client JAR with its Javadoc, Server side template with its Javadoc, documentation in OpenDocument Format,
    documentation in HTML including the test forms, WSDL file, unit tests (JUnit) and stubs.
    The Web Services accept several protocols including REST, SOAP, XML-RPC, XML, JSON Yahoo! and JSON-RPC.
    What's new:
    * Start the API with java -jar <api name>.war
    * Improved generated specification in OpenDocument Format
    * Include/exclude calling convention with ACLs
    * New calling convention that maps SOAP request and response as the wsdl2api command mapping.
    * Smaller generated build.xml
    * Added possibility to include other runtime properties files
    * The runtime property location can be a URL
    * Swing Graphical User Interface
    * New tools: emma, glean, webstart
    * New target: javadoc-test-<api name>, javadoc-apis
    * Bug fixes and small RFEs

    I recommend you implement your web service with JAX-WS 2.0
    Axis (both version) are good but why do you want to use something that is not included in JEE API, when Java provide same thing with better performance.
    personally try to prevent non standard technologies despite they can be better than core java implementation sometimes.
    I don't know Xfire.
    the good:
    -JAX-WS performance is better than axis,
    - you can create your web service simply with annotation.(this means write class and then make it as a service easily)
    - support every kind of service invocation(callback,Asynchronous,...)
    - architecture is nice (you can operate on SOAP level)
    the Bad:
    - It is JEE 5 or JSE 6 dependent.
    - there is seriously lack of documentation and examples for it, on java web sites and internet.

    I have an infopath form that is getting the error when opening an existing form or creating a new form:-

    Click OK to resume filling out the form. You may want to check your form data for errors.

    So I know its a permission issue because full control users have no problem.  I have found a suggestion here suggesting making sure the group has "Who can View Membership to the Group" but that didn't work for me - and
    my test user is only a member of one group -
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/109488/usergroup-asmx-returns-unauthorized-for-some-groups
    How can I get around this without provding users Full Control?

    So I fixed this with exactly what I mentioned above by adding "everyone" "Who can View Membership to the Group" permission.  My error initially was that I was looking at the incorrect security group.

    Could not load file or assembly 'iiglotg3.dll' or one of its dependencies.
    Access is denied..
    Looks like a permission issue or maybe the assembly don't exists on the server where the package is running; you should check that first.

  • [ANN] XINS 1.5.0 released: Web Services development framework

    XINS 1.5.0 has been released. XINS is an open-source Web Services framework.
    It offers a simple tool for the development of APIs.
    One of the key features that differentiates XINS from other technologies is the definition-driven approach.
    Write simple XML definitions and XINS will generate for you:
    * Documentation of the specifications in HTML
    * Test forms, for testing your applications with a browser
    * Client-side code, supporting load-balancing, fail-over and time-out handling
    * Web application, compatible with Java servlet containers
    * WSDL, for SOAP-interoperability
    * Unit test code, based on JUnit
    * Stubs, typically used for testing
    Another key feature is protocol independence. XINS supports several communication protocols, including SOAP, XML-RPC and POX-RPC.
    For each incoming request XINS automatically determines which protocol to use. With XSLT the results can be transformed to HTML or other content types. Custom protocols can be added.
    XINS 1.5 offers various new features over release 1.4, as well as some bug fixes. The main new features are:
    * Improved integration with Eclipse and NetBeans
    * JMX support
    * Tools for APIs (PMD, FindBugs, java2html, test coverage, ...)
    * Ant tasks to call an API and to call a XINS target
    * Integration of the front-end framework in the core
    XINS is used in production systems since the end of 2002. As a stable release, XINS 1.5.0 is backwards compatible with all previous stable releases.
    It has been tested extensively on various platforms, including Solaris, Linux and Windows.

  • QName error while calling a web service from Sourcing

    I need to call a web service from Sourcing script. The web service team has provided us the WSDL and I have generated the required stubs using wsimport and packaged the required java classes in a custom JAR. Now while calling a web method using this jar from my script, I am getting and exception. The exception message that I printed out was this:
    Caught exception e with msg Connection IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection
    IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection Exception; nested exception is:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: cannot create QName from "null" or "" String).)
    The same jar and same code works fine when called from a standalone java program.
    I am not using or creating QName anywhere in my script. The only place where QName is used is in the generated java class and there it is created from the correct namespace URL
    Can anyone please help me out in figuring out what is the issue?

  • Data Federator - Building Web Services Data Source - Request Guidance

    Hello -
    I am trying to build a web services data source in Data Federator.
    I have:
    1. In ECC, I have created a web service, proxy, port, endpoint, etc. and am testing it with WS Navigator
    2. I have created a Project in Data Federator of the type web service
        a. Here I have assigned the WSDL URL (generated in ECC) as the URL
        b. I have setup web service authentication using the same userid, pwd in the web services definition (note: I have set the
            web services authentication to 'NONE' to avoing authorization issues)\
        c. I am now trying to "Generate Operations"
    I keep getting the error :
    The File Access Parameters are not valid (directory path = <HERE IS THE PATH TO THE WSDL WITH THE HOST/PORT stripped OUT>; file pattern = document
    I believe that it is finding the WSDL, becuase when I change the WSDL from 'Document' to 'RPC', the error changes with the file pattern = rpc.
    What needs to be done to the file access parameter piece.
    PLEASE provide guidance.  Thanks.

    Ananya,
    We are using XI to load data to BI from source system. XI basically uses the same concept as Web Services - Real time data concept via RFC embeded in Proxies.
    I was using web services to test data load - eventually we will use XI.
    KJs blog is pretty good. I was able to get data loaded - after several iterations and several OSS notes. It is still not perfect - there are several manual steps . I am going to pick KJs brain on that.
    We are on SP10 and looks like there are several bugs in RSRDA. Some of these are addressed in SP11 an SP12.
    Some notes to consider are
    0001003963, 0001008276,0001009260 and 001003265.
    Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Using 2 web services data sources in the same report

    I've been trying unsuccesffuly to use 2 web services data sources in a report. The main report accesses the first web service to get job summary information. 3 fields are are passed as parameters to a sub-report and used as parameters for the sub-report selection. Each report works fine independently, but when I link them together the subreport alway fails to retrieve data.

    Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

  • No data in generated document/web service data source/complex response type

    I can define a report with a template with the BI Publisher server and the Template Builder Desktop plugin. When I use an sql statement as data source the preview functionality in Word and in the browser (logged in to the server) results in a correct report, with the correct data from the data source.
    When I use a web service as a data source I can still generate and preview reports but no data from the data source is visible in the reports. However this data is available in the Template Builder plugin in MS-Word.
    How do I know this ? When I try to insert a field from the data source into my rtf template the plugin shows a screen with the available fields. Or actually, the screen shows all fields returned by a dummy call to the web service. When I click on a field it shows the value returned by the web service just after the test "Example". I have set up my web service such that it always returns the same response.
    The field I want to show is in a repeating record, but it does not make a difference when I surround it by a group:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup[1];./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    Neither does looping over all fields display any data:
    <?for-each-group:/getValidationGroupsResponse/body/validationGroupList/validationGroup;./name?><?name?><?end for-each-group?>
    The fact that the response of my web service data source contains repeating records might be different from what others have tested so far.
    I also found two other features when defining reports. I mention them here because they could be related to my problem. When I define two data source for my report, a web service and an sql query then only the fields from the sql query are visible in MS-Word/Template Builder. Even when the Data Model specifies the web service as "Main Data Set". And the "Default data source" is always a database even when the Data Model only defines a web service as "Data Set".
    Edited by: CalculateOnline.org on May 21, 2010 2:36 PM: changed title

    Unfortunately I can not test against a public webservice and follow the examples in the tutorials, since BI Publisher does not seem to offer any proxy configuration to connect to the internet.
    My local webservice returns the following data, visible when viewing the report from the backend, when no template has been defined yet:
    <ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse xmlns:ns2="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/validationOperations" xmlns="amsterdam/wabo/services/data/common">
    <ns2:responseHeader>
    <resultaatcode>OK</resultaatcode>
    </ns2:responseHeader>
    <ns2:body>
    <ns2:validationGroupList>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep1</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop1</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 1</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:validationGroup>
    <ns2:name>testgroep2</ns2:name>
    <ns2:caption>kop2</ns2:caption>
    <ns2:description>Voor testen ontvankelijkheidstest 2</ns2:description>
    </ns2:validationGroup>
    </ns2:validationGroupList>
    </ns2:body>
    </ns2:getValidationGroupsResponse>
    After defining the template, the values of the first group are visible in MS-Word as well, as example values.
    I put the the template in a public place:

    Just in case you need the wsdl as well:

  • Crystal Report using a Web Service as a data source?

    I am trying to figure out how to use a Web Service as a data source in Crystal Reports. When I use the report wizard, I do not see an option to select Web Service as a new connection. We are currently using Crystal Reports 2008 v12.1.0.892. Could it be that my version does not support this? Is there an update that contains this feature? Please help.

  • Web service as a data source in Crystal Reports 2008

    Post Author: jpdv
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I've tried to setup a new report using a web service as a data source.
    Untill now, I have not been successful. I always get the same error: unable to log on to data source.
    Is there any sample that I can try so that I understand what I'm doing wrong?
    Or any documentation on the subject?
    Thanks.

    Having the same issues here also.
    I can see the wsdl file being accessed successfully in the web access log, but Xcelsius v5.3 return "unable to load URL"
    Only thing I can guess is that the schema is "untyped"
    So, nobody in SAP has a solution?

  • Using Web Service as Data source (Pluggable Data Source) in Oracle Reports

    Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
    Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
    04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
    By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
    Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful.

    Please provide support for the above request.
    It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE?

  • Setting the data source of an External List to a WCF Web Service

    From SharePoint Online, I want to create/connect an External List to a SQL Azure data source.  This will feed a Visio diagram so I want it to be able to refresh and dynamically retrieve
    current data via Visio Services.<o:p></o:p>
    I have a published WCF Web Service in place (Azure Website) connected to this database that consolidates data from multiple tables and returns a variety of generic lists.  From
    my readings, this should bypass the need for much of the security (e.g. secure store, etc...).
    Can I do this?  I'm not seeing an option to Create an ECT as in past versions to connect to this endpoint.  Do I have to create something in Visual Studio to Import?  Any direction
    would be much appreciated.<o:p></o:p>
    Ed

    Find and increase these variables in IIS: maxRequestEntityAllowed and uploadReadAheadSize
    I had a similar issue a while back due to these settings.  They control data to and from ISAPI connections (of which CF is one) according to this article:
    http://www.iis.net/configreference/system.webserver/serverruntime
    Sorry, I cant recall off hand where exactly those settings are in IIS but a quick Google search should turn it up for you.
