E52 landscape/portrait view

Is there a way to manually switch from portrait to landscape view and back ?

As etresoft has already said, applications start in portrait; you cannot start an app in landscape mode. Right after the -viewDidLoad is called, if the device is in a different orientation and -shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation returns YES, then -willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation: duration: will get called.
There is a bug in the simulator that might be the cause of your concern. If you start your app from Xcode while the simulator is in landscape, your app will not rotate properly, but it works on the actual device.
If you really don't want to load the portrait webview at app startup, then I suggest you make a method like this:
- (void)loadWebview {
if ([UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation] == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait ||
[UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation] == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) {
// load your portrait view
else {
// load your landscape view
Then call the above with a delay in your -viewDidLoad method.

  • Export portrait view of landscape iBooks Author file?

    I'm working with a template in iBooks Author that is landscape layout. I enabled the portrait view (in Inspector > Document). When I preview my book on iPad it flips to portrait orientation -- changes to pure scrolling, images moved to sides of text, etc. -- exactly as it should.
    I want to know if I can export this portrait view (which I can only see on the iPad) as a PDF, or if I'm limited to exporting the landscape view (which is how I work with the file / how my template is set up in iBooks Author).
    I'm pretty sure the answer is the latter, but want to be 100% sure -- matters a lot for the project I'm working on. Haven't been able to find a definitive answer here.
    Thanks!

    iBooks Author has two (2)  options which can be combined or separated.
    You can  choose to disable portrait mode and create your book in landscape only. If you export that to PDF.. it will either show in landscape or you can change in Acrobat or whatever PDF viewer you  use.
    IF you  want to stay with a Portrait layout... then as previously advised,  select a Portrait book template and  edit your content to suite.
    IF you want to have  both options - then you have to create your content to suit the mode you wish to see it viewed.   The top menu allows you to choose which orientation mode is viewed.
    It take a little  experience or patience to create a book using both modes and to be  honest , I suggest that most "readers" of such  books get confused and / or  bored  by having to change the iPad around to view.

  • Text in landscape orientation is not showing up in portrait view

    When I have added additional pages while working in landscape mode and added text to these pages, the text is not showing in portrait view. The only text that shows is the one that comes if I have used the default text box in the 2 column mode. Even using the default textbook I find is not looking good because extra spaces I am putting in for landscape mode aren't needed in the other view. Finally, the headers are also not showing up in portrait view. What to do?
    Other difficulties:
    1) hyperlinking text is defaulting to the hyperlink character style which is not letting me change the colour from red to blue.
    2) jpg images are not being recognized as figures. I would like to be able to bookmark the images, but it is not allowing me. I would also like to have them show in portrait mode, but they are not.
    Thank you!!!

    Sorry if I'm being daft, but what do you mean by linking the text fields? I have one text box in landscape view. When I go to portrait, it no longer exists. If I insert a text box in portrait view, it does not appear in landscape.
    I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but I'm hoping you might have some ideas.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with rotating view on iPhone 5--when I go from landscape to portrait view Safari jumps around.

    Every time I rotate my phone from portrait to landscape and back again the view has jumped up about 3 screens--say for instance I'm reading a message board, and I rotate to landscape to view a picture, when I rotate back I'm looking at comments way higher up than I had been before the rotation--which is really frustrating and wastes a lot of time trying to figure out where I was. It always jumps up, never down.
    This happens on many different websites (and even if I'm reading a story in Reader), so it's not a bug on that end. The rotation feature worked fine on my iPhone 4, so why is it a problem now? I've downloaded all updates and synced my phone with my macbook retina several times and it doesn't make any difference.

    Hello? Anybody out there? Plenty of people are looking at this question, anybody have an idea what's going on with my phone? Or any suggestions for how I should go about bugging Apple to figure out how to fix it?

  • Iphone 6; Itunes portrait view vs landscape

    Itunes playlists appear normal in portrait view but when I mount the device on my bike, the landscape presentation changes to album view. Disables my ability to change songs, volume, playlist, etc. Apple Store said 'that's the way it is'. Any suggestions?

    I Just spent over an hour with support on this issue and apparently in iOS 8 they removed the option for the phones to lock in landscape mode. So, there is nothing wrong with your phone, unfortunately they removed a very useful feature.  Maybe they will see if enough users want it they will fix it in an update.

  • Album art isn't right only on ipod in portrait view

    I recently installed Windows 7 on my PC and to do that I had to uninstall iTunes from that computer. since then after reinstalling iTunes it has been all messed up. most of my album artwork doesn't match up on my iPod Touch after i sync. Some albums covers have a collage of four album covers (none of which are for that album). Also it keeps having me authorize my computer and keeps asking me to transfer my purchases from my iTouch. It has done this several times! and since im on my last authorized computer it worries me that one day it won't work. Any suggestions?
    it is the right art on iTunes, but on my iTouch in the portrait view its wrong, in landscape its right and when i look at the other songs on the album in portrait the album in the upper corner is wrong as well.

    yes i have tried that several times. i'd never had a problem with album art until i had to uninstall iTunes to install windows 7.

  • Print iCal Calendar - ? Portrait View

    Is there a way to print my iCal Calendar in Portrait View other than saving it as a .pdf file & then printing?
    I cannot find the Portrait - Landscape options when printing in iCal.
    Many thanks!
    ...John

    sp_64,
    Are you found of the Month View look. Because you can print in list view and add more days. How many days you can print on a page depends on the details and how many events you have. But it will give you your location information. I will continue to look into it but that is what I've found so far.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Ipod touch stuck on portrait view - any ideas?

    My iPod touch has started to refuse to switch to Portrait view.
    It will use landscape when the App concerned is set in that view, but otherwise not.
    I can't find where there is any help about this.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    SD

    Double click Home button to bring up the multitaskbar. Swipe multitaskbar to the right till you see the music icon. Tap the left most icon with the circle arrow to lock/unlock orientation.

  • Stuck on portrait view

    My iPad mini (about a month old) won't automatically change to landscape view in any apps or portals. The menu does, but once I click on an app or portal it reverts back to portrait view. How can I get it to do it automatically as it used to?
    Thanks

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    Also make sure that you do not have "Rotation Lock" turned on.

  • How do I change the formatting of the section text in portrait view?

    I'm attempting to write my first book using iBooks Author.  I've got everything looking pretty good so far in landscape view, but when it changes to portrait view, I don't like the automatic formatting and I can't figure out how to change it.  I chose the "Contemporary" template.  In landscape view, I changed the section title and the default formatting (white over an image) looks fine.  When I change to portrait mode, the section title turns to red, which I would like to change to another color.  However, I can't even select the text in this view.  I can see the style in the paragraph styles drawer, but I don't know how to change it there either.  Is it possible to change the color, and if so, how?  Thanks.

    Already advised....
    Basically,  after each chapter or section is finished in LS, use the Orientation icon, top menu bar to change to portrait and edit content.  Images are automatically reduced in size etc,.
    Fig 1 - I used this to demonstarte  Bookmarks ( in red)  but take this as your start point in LS
    Fig 2
    As you can see  from the Orientation icon shaded in Blue at top - this is Portrait mode.
    The image has  changed to the tempate default - so you need to change the template or drop the same image in.  I had changed the background and removed the top embellisment in LS  so again, you  may need to change your template - that aside the  section title and text are white in both examples.
    Fig 3.
    I have changed the section and text colour.   Apps is in  white intentionally and the bookmark stays in the link colour red
    Fig 4     Back in LS mode - see icon  top menu
    The section colour stayed white,  but the text changed to  yellow
    Fig 5
    I changed the section colour to red.
    OK thats how changing things affects each mode including the image sizes.
    IF the red section  title ( in LS) is selected - in the styles drawer you can see it - switch to portrait, select the section title and apply the  same style.  Essentially, think you are creating two separate books  and edit the potrait to match - where possible the LS version.
    Apple have deemed some things, like TOC page images cannot  be changed individually in Portrait mode.

  • Inline and floating locked in portrait view

    My photo book was rejected today because it's not viewable in portrait format.  My intention was to have the book ONLY be viewable in landscape format and that it's more than obvious that you need to turn the pad to landscape to view it–the thing is primarily composed of landscape-format images!
    I saw in today's "disappearing shapes" thread that you need to edit in portrait and layout in landscape, so I'm trying out that approach.
    In portrait mode, I can't get an image to appear in the text column, only as a thumbnail in the left margin.  Inline and Floating are greyed out, only Anchored is available.
    How can I unlock these?  Will that allow me to place the images in the text as in Landscape format?
    Thanks.

    Never click on anything like that and resubmit.
    Test it on a device first.
    Testing it goes without saying, right?  Seems to work.  You saved me a ton of work redesigning a compromised layout.  If I could give you doube bonus points I would!
    So by clicking disable portrait view it will force the landscape layout to resize smaller to fit portrait view like a pdf does?
    No idea what that means, sorry. How could something resize from something it doesn't do...
    Where did you learn that iBA's portrait view supports PDFs?
    I was talking about looking at a PDF version of this book in iBooks.  When you rotate the pad the landscape image simply rotates and resizes.  Disabling portrait in .iba just locks the book in landscape no matter how you turn the pad.  Perfect for my needs.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Chapter different in portrait view

    Hi,
    When I modify my chapter template, how come it doesn't modify in the portrait view and only modifys in landscape view?
    I changed the colors and they look great in landscapte, but no change in portrait.
    Thanks,
    Elaine

    iBA: layout in landscape; edit content in portrait - test in both. Disable portrait if it offends you.
    That's just how iBA rolls...

  • Canvas in Portrait View

    Does anyone know how or why after importing some still images why my canvas appears in portrait view versus landscape. When I first add stills to timeline (they are in portrait mode) canvas and title safe area is in landscape view. Somewhere down the road canvas changed to portrait view. Then when I add some more stills later on that are in landscape layout the canvas is still in portrait view. I can not find any info on this in the manual.
    Confused and desperate for your help.

    The only way I can get the image in the Canvas to alter to portrait mode is to rotate it 90 degrees to the right in Motion but the Canvas itself still remains as a horizontal rectangle.

  • IPhone 6 locked in portrait view. How to unlock?

    iPhone 6 locked in portrait view. How to unlock to allow landscape view?

    Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to open the Control Center. Tap on the button on the far right at the top (the one with the little lock surrounded by a circle with an arrow) to unlock your screen rotation.

  • Landscape orientation view

    My Blackberry 9800 Torch will no longer switch from portrait to landscape view in any application when I turn the unit on its side. It is stuck in portrait view. Very frustrating! This happened once before but corrected itself. Is there a setting that can changed? Can any one offer any suggestions as to why this is happening? My carrier, Bell Mobility, was of no assistance. Just told me to return the unit for repair which would take 6 - 8 weeks.

    Hey man. Just had that same problem with my torch. To fix it I slammed it close 2 or 3 times. Give that a shot
