Each time I sync my ipad (3) I have this message : "Itune could not sync contacts to the ipad because Contacts have been disabled on the iPad"
Still, my contacts have been correctly loaded from the Mac Contacts, what is annoying is this message.
Itune info section is set to synchronize all contacts so I don't know what to do on the ipad...

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
I do not know how to disable Contacts on the iPad. Couldn't find any way to do it on my iPad. So maybe the reboot will work.

In my case, resetting the sync history and disabling the add-ins fixed the problem. -

This could be caused by a USB connection issue. Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac using the USB cable it came with. Also, try disconnecting all other USB devices.

Hello all. I recently replaced the HD in my MacBook Pro. Just after, I retrieved my old files from the Time Machine backup, which I made just before the replacement. During the first sync of my iPhone via iTunes and while I was trying to sync my contacts I saw the message "iTunes could not sync contacts to iPhone because an error occurred while committing data". After that, I lost my iPhone contacts (I have them only from iCloud). The only problem is contacts, all the others (Calendars, Apps) are normally syncing. Does anybody has a solution? I would use a previous backup (earlier one) to the one you have tried to just do. -
Connect iPad to MAC computer and get this message: iTunes could not connect to the iPad because the device timed out. What is the likely problem???
Eject the iPad, quit iTunes, restart the Mac and reset the iPad and try again. Use another USB port on the Mac if you have a free one to use.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up. -
I get error message iTunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because an error occurred while merging data on my wifes phone how do you correct problem without losing calendars info on phone.
One thing that might help.
1. open itunes preferences from the edit menu and click on the devices tab.
2. check the box to disable syncing for iphones connected to itunes and click ok.
3. Then click the button to reset sync history.
4. Now click ok to close the preferences window.
5. connect the iphone to itunes and go to the info tab.
6. scroll to the bottom of the info page and check the box to replace the ical data on the iphone.
7. then click apply on the bottom right of itunes.
This will overwrite any events on the iphone, including any events that has become corrupted.

i've found a great & simple solution for this problem
just open your iCloud acc on iPhone
turn off calendars (it wil ask you to keep info or not - KEEP IT!)
and turn back on (MERGE!)
now SYNC it..
and that's it
PS in my case it was contacts so the procedure is the same.. -
I just got my refurb iPad in the mail. I am trying to set it up, but i am getting this error message " iTunes could not back up the ipad because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipad. Delete the backup for this ipad. Then try agian." How do I do that?
It sounds like the iPad wasn't erased to me. If the iPad is totally cleared of content, there should be nothing on it and no backup to create.
Without connecting the iPad to your computer - Launch iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Prefences>Devices. Do you see an iPad backup in there? If you do see it, delete it. -

I'm running iTunes 9 and 4.0.1 on my iPhone which is a 3GS. They sync with Google Contacts. I did just install a group contact app called ABCLite (fyi, have no idea if this is related).
I use my contacts a LOT on both the phone and the computer so I really need them to sync! Help!!!

same here - or similar: Installed latest iOS4 and only group in my contacts comes up.
Data do not seem to be lost (phew:-) because when I ring a number, the phone still displays who it is, so the data are there somewhere.

Began when Apple replaced my HD on my iMac. I can backup without any problems but when it is time to sync, I get this error.
I want to add that I deleted all the old back-ups and created a new back-up without any issues except sync problem.
