Thanks for answering the question. But i think GIS Software will be useful for the industries such as oil and gas exploration where they have the operations aroung the globe.
So inorder to locate their operation and also in order to meet the strong compliance in such industries its better to keep the track of their operation through a MAP which will e provided by GIS.
What do you think???
Also if you have worked on EAM can you please give me the names of master data tables used in EAM. I am new to EAM and i dont know much about it.These will be useful to me in data modeling.

SAP always recommends to use the most recent release of the frontend components, including the connectors. Hence you should get the most recent release of JCo - SAP JCo Release 2.1.6.
You can download it from http://service.sap.com/connectors - you will need to provide your SAP Service Marketplace User/Pass.

Simple GIS Integration Scenario

Hello members,
idea is simply to display an ESRI GIS map within a dynpro while providing data integrity.
My first aim is to achieve a simple connectivity such as selecting some lines from an ALV grid control cause points on map to be selected. (and vice-versa if possible).
any idea or advice on how to achieve this, greatly appreciated.

GIS Integration on Win 8 - Work manager 6.1

I understand that OpenUI API can be used to write native code ( .NET) to integrate GIS app wih Agentry app on Windows.
If someone has implemented this on Windows, Please provide insights on this.
I know that one can implement the GetExtensionString(String key) method of ICustomAgentryControl interface to fetch the external control’s value. How does the GIS app update the OpenUI control?

Perhaps you could give us some more details on what GIS is? If this is functionality from a third party, connectivity is governed by that third party, but there would likely be some input structure available (direct table insert, web services, etc.). If GIS is an internal function module of SAP's ERP, then you should go to either BAPI or SE37 to see if there are any externally available function modules for MII to use. Alternatively, if the information resides in a table, perhaps a direct table read (using RFC_READ_TABLE) would be a more efficient route to go.

SAP MI 7.1 integration GIS

Dear,
I wonder if they have documentation or procedure to add the SAP MI 7.1 the "GIS Integration." According to the documentation indicates that it is a product for xMAM, but need to see opportunity to deploy SAP MI 7.1 on PDA.

Hi Claudio,
I haven´t checked if MI 7.1 has a standard integration with GIS, but I integrated MI 7.0 client with GIS (Arcpad) in a customized application.
The process was:
1 - User opens Arcpad
2 - Navigate on the map and click on a local to work on
3 - At this time, the application on MI Client is called, passing the local data by URL
4 - The app opens, bringing all equipment data related to that local ( from here, the app works normally)
5 - After finishing the job, the mobile application calls the Arcpad and pass the activty that has been done for that local
So, the integration is:
Arcpad -> MI = URL
MI -> Arcpad = Runtime.getRuntime().exec (....)
I hope it can help you. This is a solution which you can use either MI 7.0 or MI 7.1

OPM and eAM Integration

Can anyone tell me how EAm is integrated with OPM. All the shutdown plans defined in eAM. Is there anyway to incprporate these non-working days in OPM MRP automatically.

I have been implementing Financials, OPM / Order Managment and some CRM for a Snackfoods company.
I don't know of any documents that describe what you require but I can describe Inventory in OPM/Discrete as follows:
As I am not sure of you experience with OPM and Discrete Inventory I will explain a few points (all relevant to 11.5.7 OPM Famliy Pack H)
Inventory Orgs in Discrete are equivalent to Warehouses in OPM. If an item needs to be received into the same inventory Org and that Org is process enabled the item must be defined in OPM. All items defined in OPM are Syncronised to Discrete Process enabled inventory org as long as they are select in the Organisations screen.
Formula's = OPM Items
Production = OPM Items
Quality = OPM Items
Purchasing / Receiving = Discrete Items
Order Management = Discrete Items
Manufacturing Accounting Controller = OPM Items
Move Orders = OPM Items
In direct answer to you question
Production-formula = OPM Items
Non-production-formula = OPM Items
Stores = Discrete Item (Initially created in OPM)
Non-production non-formula = Discrete Item (Initially created in OPM. Possibly set to Non Inventory).
All these answers assume that these items will need to reside in the same warehouse (Inventory Org). If items reside in a separate warehouse and none of the transaction listed with OPM against them are required these items could be placed in a Discrete Inventory Org that is not process enabled.

We have a prospect wanting to see a proof of concept (and pay for it) of SAP -GIS integration using web services. No specific requirement. Fetch a bunch of work orders from SAP using web service and display on a map - can be the POC.
Please review the attached doc. Figure out whether any standard web service is available, if not a BAPI can be converted to web service quickly.

for Web Services based on BAPI With Microsoft Visual Studio
2005.U can check it in Google with the same name.
They just asked about is there any Standard web services available for Plant maintenance.

i need to save that file to Unix-Filesystem and call an FTP transfer routine to GIS.

I do not think that you need to know more than the basics of Gentran, as you will have to upgrade PI, not Gentran.

GIS/ESRI Integration

I'm very new to SAP (1month) and still trying to find my feet. We would like to integrate SAP RE and GIS. I've managed to find some documentation that mentions things like standard interfaces,Business Connector, BAPI, ESRI_R3.dll etc but nothing specific.
Can anyone help clarify the following.
1. How would I go about integrating the 2 products, ie. what options do I have, what products are required?
2. Is it plug and play giving you some standard functionality or is it API/DLL based where you have to develop your solution?
3. Who provides the interface/integration? SAP, ESRI or both
4. If the standard interface gives you standard functionality can additional functionality be developed, in what language and from which side (SAP/ESRI)?
5. Can you make either product the master app? eg:with PP-GIS, GIS is the master. What do I do if I want SAP RE to be the master?
6. What kind of developers do I need?
7. Are there different integration methods/requirements for each product eg: ArcGIS, ArcIMS?
8. Where can I get some decent technical information that can answer some/most of the above?
