EAS with certificate user based authentication

Hello,
Is it a way to sync with exchange using certificate based authentication ?
I tried and tried but nothing happend...
I could install personal certificate, but Iphone ever ask me username and password...
Please help...

We are trying to do the same thing. Our windows mobile implementation is working with Exchange 2003, where we are assigning client certificates for the users to their devices, where in turn the exchange server will only let them in if they use that client certificate.
This does not seem to work on the iPhone. Does anyone have a contact at Apple that we can work through to get this to work?

  • Uploader: A simple uploader with user based authentication

    Uploader
    Basically, I decided that I needed a file uploader that would support basic authentication for the times when I need to let someone upload a file to my server. I couldn't find anything that could met my needs so I created uploader.
    What is it?
    Uploader is a simple webpy application that allows users to upload files to a web server and has support for user authentication. There is support for upload credits and user expiration dates.
    Features
    *Set User Expiration Date - per user
    *Set upload credits - per user
    *Manage Users Files
    *Users can change their own passwords
    *Add users easily
    Download
    git clone git://github.com/pyther/uploader.git
    URLs
    http://github.com/pyther/uploader/
    http://pyther.net/projects/uploader/
    Depends:
    -python
    -webpy
    Installation
    Like an webpy app: http://github.com/pyther/uploader/blob/master/README
    You can also execute it locally by running python index.py (http://localhost:8080)

    Yeah, looks cool to me too, I just might have a need for this.  Thanks.

    Hi,Im developing an application using EJB3.0 and at the moment im working on a module involving user authentication.I work with the sun java system appserver 9.1 and netbeans 5.5.2 using the default toplink as the persistent provider.I have problems performing user based authentication.where am at is at shown below.I used a SLSB facade design pattern and created an entity from an existing database I built solely for the application (table name user_table). I NEED HELP.ive been on this for 5 days and i cant seem to get a solution. I tried creating a method (private Collection findByUsername()) and(private Collection
    findByPassword()) in the local interface that would supposedly return records based on input from the form but I got a null pointer and an ejb exception saying
    unknown find method or something, as in ,or an error message that said i cant search records by name or something.I dont know. Or is it the query that is not
    specific enough. I didnt seem to get the syntax right when i was trying to search by username and password.Please someone help me.

    Hey everyone,
    Is the question I posted that hard?
    I even tried to just load a HTML <img src="picture.jpg"/> tag
    on the login.jsp and even this won't show.
    I'm thinking that the container, with the security mechanism, is blocking
    styles and images???
    Anyone...please help.

  • Form-based authentication problem with weblogic

    Hi Everyone,
    The following problem related to form-based authentication
    was posted one week ago and no reponse. Can someone give it
    a shot? One more thing is added here. When I try it on J2EE
    server and do the same thing, I didn't encounter this error
    message, and I am redirected to the homeage.
    Thanks.
    -John
    I am using weblogic5.1 and RDBMSRealm as the security realm. I am having the following problem with the form-based authentication login mechanism. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how to solve it?
    When I login my application and logout as normal procedure, it is OK. But if I login and use the browser's BACK button to back the login page and try to login as a new user, I got the following error message,
    "Form based authentication failed. Could not find session."
    When I check the LOG file, it gives me the following message,
    "Form based authentication failed. One of the following reasons could cause it: HTTP sessions are disabled. An old session ID was stored in the browser."
    Normally, if you login and want to relogin without logout first, it supposes to direct you to the existing user session. But I don't understand why it gave me this error. I also checked my property file, it appears that the HTTP sessions are enabled as follows,
    weblogic.httpd.session.enable=true

    Hi...
    Hehe... I actually did implement the way you implement it. My login.jsp actually checks if the user is authenticated. If yes, then it will forward it to the home page. On the other hand, I used ServletAuthentication to solve the problem mentioned by Cameron where Form Authentication Failed usually occurs for the first login attempt. I'm also getting this error occasionally. Using ServletAuthentication totally eliminates the occurence of this problem.
    I'm not using j_security_check anymore. ServletAuthentication does all the works. It also uses RDBMSRealm to authenticate the user. I think the biggest disadvantage I can see when using ServletAuthentication is that the requested resource will not be returned after authentication cause the page returned after authenticating the user is actually hard coded (for my case, it's the home.jsp)
    cheers...

    Hi Jerson,
    I tried your code this weekend, it didn't work in my case. But
    I solved my specific problem other way. The idea behind my problem is that the user tries to relogin when he already logs in. Therefore, I just redirect the user into another page when he is getting the login page by htting the BACK button, rather than reauthenticate the user as the way you did.
    But, I think your idea is very helpful if it could work. Problems such multiple concurrence logins can be solved by pre-processing.
    In your new code, you solved the problem with a new approach. I am just wondering, do you still implement it with your login.jsp file? In other word, your action in login.jsp is still "Authenticate"? Where do you put the URL "j_security_check"?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your suggestion... I've actually thought of that solution. Butusing page redirection will expose the user's password. I'm thinking of

    Hello guys...
    I've a solution but it doesn't work yet so I need your help. Because
    one
    of the reason for getting form base authentication failed is if an
    authenticated user tries to login again. For example, the one mentionedby
    John using the back button to go to the login page and when the user logsin
    again, this error occurs.
    So here's my solution
    Instead of submitting the page to j_security_check, submit it to a
    servlet
    which will check if the user is logged in or not. If yes, invalidates its
    session and forward it to j_security_check. But there's a problem in this
    solution, eventhough the session.invalidate() (which actually logs theuser
    out) is executed before forwarded to j_security_check, the user doesn't
    immediately logged out. How did I know this, because after calling
    session.invalidate, i tried calling request.RemoteUser() and it doesn't
    return null. So I'm still getting the error. What I want to ask you guyis
    how do I force logout before the j_security_check is called.
    here's the code I did which the login.jsp actually submits to
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Authenticate extends HttpServlet {
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponseresponse)
    throws ServletException, java.io.IOException {
    if (request.getRemoteUser() != null) {
    HttpSession session = request.getSession(false);
    System.out.println(session.isNew());
    session.invalidate();
    Cookie[] cookies = request.getCookies();
    for (int i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
    cookies.setMaxAge(0);
    getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/j_security_check").forward(reques
    t, response);
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponseresponse)
    throws ServletException, java.io.IOException {
    doPost(request, response);
    let's help each other to solve this problem. thanks.

    have gone away temporarily (?) in SP5 (although Jerson Chua
    <[email protected]> mentioned that he still got it in SP5)
    I was able to reproduce it most often by deleting the tmpwar and
    tmp_deployments directories while the cluster was not running,
    then
    restarting the cluster. The first login attempt would fail(roughly
    90%
    of
    the time?) and that server instance would then be ignored by the
    proxy
    for a
    while (60 seconds?) -- meaning that the proxy would send all
    traffic,
    regardless of the number of "clients", to the other server in thecluster.
    As far as I can tell, it is a bug in WebLogic, and probably has
    been
    there
    for quite a while.

    Hi Everyone,
    The following problem related to form-based authentication
    was posted one week ago and no reponse. Can someone give it
    a shot? One more thing is added here. When I try it on J2EE
    server and do the same thing, I didn't encounter this error
    message, and I am redirected to the homeage.
    Thanks.
    -John
    I am using weblogic5.1 and RDBMSRealm as the security realm. I
    am
    having
    the following problem with the form-based authentication login
    mechanism.
    Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how to solve it?
    When I login my application and logout as normal procedure, it
    is
    OK.
    But
    if I login and use the browser's BACK button to back the login
    page
    and
    try
    to login as a new user, I got the following error message,
    "Form based authentication failed. Could not find session."
    When I check the LOG file, it gives me the following message,
    "Form based authentication failed. One of the following reasons
    could
    cause it: HTTP sessions are disabled. An old session ID was stored
    in
    the
    browser."
    Normally, if you login and want to relogin without logout first,
    it
    supposes to direct you to the existing user session. But I don'tunderstand
    why it gave me this error. I also checked my property file, it
    appears
    that
    the HTTP sessions are enabled as follows,
    weblogic.httpd.session.enable=true

  • Forms Based Authentication in Project Server 2013

    Hi,
    I have created a PWA web app with SQL Forms Based Authentication. I am able to login and able to see the Project Center page.
    But the Project Center Web Part is not getting displayed. Also facing the same issue while
    Enterprise Custom Fields and Look up page,
    the page is blank
    When user tries to edit user in Manage Users page under Security, that page is also blank
    Projects ribbon doesn't show up
    User not able to create projects
    Kindly provide some pointers for the same.
    Thanks & regards,
    Divyang Agrawal

    Hi Kirtesh,
    Thanks for the response.
    The issue here is not related to hardware, but it is regarding the user not having appropriate rights to do the above mentioned operations.
    Are there few more steps that are required for the FBA, where a user needs to be given access rights explicitly.
    The users I have used for now have been added to administrator's group and have full rights on the system.
    Also, when I try to create a Project in the instance using the CSOM code and passing the user's credentials who is a part of Administrator Group., it gives me a 403 forbidden exception.
    Kindly provide some inputs for the same.

  • User based application deployment issue

    Hi
    Since one week ago I have some problems with the user based application deployment. It has worked until last week without any problem but now I can't deploy any application. If I check the deployment status the say me ever "unknown".
    I see the username but no device before. But, if the user logon on another (new) device the deployment works again. But on all actual from the useres used devices I can't deploy applications.
    Has anyone an idea what could be the reason for that and how could be fixed?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sacha

    yes I've the ConfigMgr toolkit installed but the deployments are also on the Deployment Monitoring Tool not listed. the client logs are normal, no errors. I'm pretty sure the deployment doesn't reach the client. there are no requirements configured.
    just to clarify, all actual clients are affected, not just a few. what could be also interesting, I've changed last week the client settings. before I had automatically primary device assignment by useage configured. Now I've disabled that again. Maybe that
    could be a reason?

  • ACS Windows Server with wrong user authenticatoin

    Hello,
    we have a new Windows ACS Server with external user database authentication. Users at the ACS Server were configured, disabled, enabled and deleted by RDBMS synchronization with account actions.
    We have the problem that a user could be authenticated through the external LDAP even though if the user or his group is disabled inside the Windows ACS Server.
    The same procedure doesn't work with our ACS appliance where user administration is done only through the webinterface .
    Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
    Best regards
    Torsten Waibel

    Could it be you have unknown user authentication enabled?
    If you did, and a username came through authentication in a different format to one one added via dbsync... eg user@domain or domain\user the unknown user policy might legitimately think its a different user. In which case it would depend on what group mapping had been setup.
    Just a thought.

    I would love some help with this issue.  I have configured my SharePoint foundation 2010 site to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0  I have a test account set up with lab.acme.com to use the ACS.
    When I log into my site using Windows Auth, everything is great.  However when I log in and select my ACS token issuer, I get sent, to the logon page of the ADFS, after selected the ADFS method. My browser prompt me which Certificate identity I want
    to use to log in   and after 3-5 second
     and return me the logon page with error message “Authentication failed”

  • Certificate based authentication with sender SOAP adapter. Please help!

    Hi Experts,
       I have a scenario where first a .Net application makes a webservice call to XI via SOAP Adapter. Then the input from the .Net application is sent to the R/3 system via RFC adapter.
    .Net --->SOAP -
    >XI -
    >RFC -
    R/3 System
    Now as per client requirement I have to implement certificate based authentication in the sender side for the webservice call. In this case the .Net application is the "client" and XI is the "server". In other words the client has to be authenticated by XI server. In order to accomplish this I have setup the security level in the SOAP sender channel as "HTTPS  with client authentication". Additionally I have assigned a .Net userid in the sender agreement under "Assigned users" tab.
    I have also installed the SSL certificate in the client side. Then generated the public key and loaded it into the XI server's keystore.
    When I test the webservice via SOAPUI tool I am always getting the "401 Unauthorized" error. However if I give the userid/password for XI login in the properties option in the SOAPUI tool then it works fine. But my understanding is that in certificate based authentication, the authentication should happen based on the certificate and hence there is no need for the user to enter userid/password. Is my understanding correct? How to exactly test  certificate based authentication?
    Am I missing any steps for certificate based authentication?
    Please help
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi!
    Although soapUI is a very goot SOAP testing tool, you can't test certificate based authentication with it. There is no way (since I know) how to import certificat into soapUI.
    So, try to find other tool, which can use certificates or tey it directly with the sender system.

  • ActiveSync with Certificate-Based Authentication

    We are trying to setup ActiveSync with certificate-based authentication against Exchange 2010 SP2, but with no luck.
    What has been done so far:
    OWA over https works fine. A public, trusted certificate is in place.
    Setup ActiveSync against this Exchange server: works fine, using user name/password.
    Issued a user cert, signed with an internal CA, CA-cert successfully imported into al client devices.
    Created a new OWA-site with cert-based authentication (just to make sure it works), imported user certificate into a mac, visit this OWA site - cert-based authentication works fine.
    Now, with the configuration utility, created configuration profile with that user cert and an ActiveSync account, left password blank and chose the imported cert (p12) as authentication means.
    After installing that last profile the device keeps asking for a password and refuses to synchronize. Logs on the server show error 401.2, so I assume iPhone is ignoring the cert and is trying to use password-authentication instead.
    The devices tested were iPhone 3G with IOS 4 and iPad 2 with IOS 5.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Roman.

    No-one with this experience?
    We've done some network analysis (as much as was possible to decrypt) and could see, that the server sends an SSL-Alert (rejection?) to the client after the client presents the certificate.
    That explains why the client falls back to password-authentication, but it does not tell us why the server rejects the cert (that is accepted perfectly when accessed from a browser) in first place.

  • User Certificate based Authentication Using Anyconnect (DTLS)

    Hello,
    I believe it is possible to set up an ASA to enforce the need for anyconnect users to have a USER certficate installed on their machine before the VPN grants them access.  However, I`ve been trying to get this to work but I`m always allowed to connect with only a password.  Would appreciate any guidance on how to get this working with user based certificate authenitcation.  Are there any documents around specific to the full process of setting up anyconnect with user certfificate authentication??
    Thank you

    Hi,
    I don’t believe that this functionality exists at this time on the ISA.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/small_business_security/isa500/administration/guide/ISA500_AG_OL-23370.pdf
    From the admin guide for the ISA.  “According to the user authentication settings specified on the security appliance, the SSL VPN users can be authenticated by the local database or external AAA server (such as Active Directory, LDAP, or RADIUS). For information on configuring the user authentication settings, see Configuring User Authentication Settings, page 346.

  • User Password vs. Certificate based authentication

    We have used the iPhone since day one and grown from 20 to 400 users over the years. Now managability is an issue and certificate based authentication is about to be replaced with user password only. Critics deny cutting some slack because of possible man in the middle attack scenarios. Is it true that user password can be exposed between the device and exchange server? Is it possible to read User/Password using a man in the middle attack?

  • Certificate based authentication with iOS Client

    Hello experts,
    I have a question regarding the certificate based authentication in SAP Mobile Documents. With the Android Client it is "easy" possible to use certificate based authentication by just sending the user certificate to the Android device (using mail, MDM or whatever).
    For the iOS App it is written that the user has to sync the certificate to the device using iTunes sync. Is this really the only possibility to bring the certificate to the iOS device so that the App can use it? I have successfully tested by adding the certificate using iTunes, but I cannot make it working using MDM to push the certificate to the device. SAP Mobile Documents just cant see the installed certificate.
    Am I doing something wrong here?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 OWA with certificate based authentication

    Hi,
    I have a bizarre problem in my customer’s environment. Maybe someone has an idea.
    Exchange 2010 with SP3, latest cumulative Update installed.
    The problem I’m having is that when I enable Certificate based authentication (require client certificate option in IIS) on OWA and ECP virtual directories in conjunction with forms based authentication (this is the requirement – the user
    must have a client certificate and type in username and password to log in to OWA), the result is that after the user selects the certificate he wants to use, he is logged into OWA automatically, but cannot use the website, because it’s being constantly automatically
    refreshed (or redirected to itself or something like that). The behavior occurs with all users, with any browser. If client certificate is on required, forms based authentication works just fine. If I switch to “Basic Authentication” and enable client certificate
    requirement, then OWA act’s as it should be – so no problems. The problem only occurs when authentication type is forms based and client certificates are required.
    I have tried the exact same settings (as far as I can tell) on one other production server and one test server, and encountered no such problems.
    Anyone – any ideas?

    Hi McWax,
    According to your description and test, I understand that all accounts cannot login OWA when select require client certificate.
    Is there any error message when open OWA or login? For example, return error ”HTTP error: 403 - Forbidden”. Please post relative error for further troubleshooting.
    I want to confirm which authentication methods are used for OWA, Integrated Windows authentication or Digest authentication? More details about it, for your reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430796(v=exchg.141).aspx
    If you select another authentication method, please check whether Client Certificate Mapping Authentication services is installed, and also enabled in IIS, please refer to:
    http://www.iis.net/configreference/system.webserver/security/authentication/clientcertificatemappingauthentication
    To prevent firewall factor, please try to sign in OWA at CAS server. Besides, I find a FAQ about certificate:
