Hi,
For developing portals in Webcenter can i use Eclipse instead of JDeveloper?
Is there any plugins needed for Eclipse to use Webcenter?

    Hi,
Can ADF install/run with Eclipse instead of JDeveloper?
    Thx

If you mean can you design ADF applications with Eclipse then yes, you can do that with Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. It isn't as full-featured as the JDeveloper experience, though.

  • Java files open in SQL Developer instead of JDeveloper

    JDEV 10.1.3
    Windows XP
When I double click a java file, it opens in SQL Developer instead of JDeveloper.
When I right click a java file, and select 'Open With'->jdeveloper, the java file always opens in SQL Developer instead of JDeveloper.
I've tried browsing and choosing all the different executables: jdevw.exe, jdev.exe, jdeveloper.exe. No luck on any of them.
    Any help here? Thanks!

Thanks, but that didn't work. I noticed that the "open" action for java file extension is, in fact, set to use the jdeveloper.exe (I also tried jdev.exe and jdevW.exe).
Note: even if I run the jdeveloper.exe on the command line, with a java file as the argument, the java file still opens in SQL Developer, if it is running. (Otherwise it uses JDeveloper)
It's as if JDeveloper and SQL Developer are somehow coupled in the opening of files.

  • How to import existing eclipse Project to JDeveloper

    Hi,
previously I used to use Eclipse IDE. I have started to use Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 now. How can I import my existing Eclipse projects to JDeveloper? Please Note, I already have tried following options -
"Importing Existing Files into a New JDeveloper Project" from here - Working with Applications and Projects.
But, When I import the source files from existing Eclipse Projects to JDeveloper, I am not able to crease similar directory structure in the JDeveloper(in Application Navigator). As a result, I can not use my existing ANT build script to build my project[Though JDeveloper build my project, but I want to use manual ANT build.]
Moreover I don't want to change my existing directory structure as I am working on and existing project and I need to synchronize to my repository(Apache SVN).
Can any one help me in this - How can I import existing Eclipse Project to JDeveloper? Without any significant change in directory structure.
    Best Regards
    Chandramoulee

Well there are two options - if you have a WAR file with the code in it, then you can use the file->import WAR.
Or you can use the new->Project from source code.
Note that you'll probably need to do some library settings and some directory setting after that.
Have a look at this demo for basic steps:

  • Importing eclipse projects to JDeveloper

Is there any way to import Eclipse project into JDevelper 10g?
    Thanks.

    Hi Shay, Frank
Our team is currently using Eclipse 3.1, struts and Oracle 9i DB, Oracle 10g AS to develop a mid size Java application. However we are running into serious constraint in our development as Eclipse does not allow us to debug for OC4J.
To avoid debug issues and associated time loss and inefficiency, we are trying to import the Eclipse project into Jdeveloper. When I import, it only imports the source files and not the associated libraries, config files, web content etc.
If possible please provide a step by step approach that we can follow to import Eclipse struts projects and then build it. If you can point us to some document, book, tutorial etc, it will be highly appreciated.

  • Can we design the BPEL process using API's instead of JDeveloper

    hi' All,
I might be sounding funnny, however I would like to know "Can we design the BPEL process in 11G from scratch using API's instead of JDeveloper"
and is there some tutorial which talks about how to do this.
    thanks
    Yatan

    Hi,
Designing a BPEL process without JDev will not be a good way to go, but you can deploy the process without JDev and also can change the dynamic parameters while deployment. For that you, need a separate ANT script. For Prod Env this is a very common thing.

  • Migrating a Eclipse Project to JDeveloper and use it as a web service

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem with migrating a Eclipse Project (EP) to JDeveloper. I know there are several threads about the problem out there but none of these fit my needs.
    So, here is the problem:
I didn't had any problems migrating EPs to JDev in the past but this project is neither a .jar/.lib nor could I change it to one of those types. The project hase some additional filesto work. These files areare libs and owl-mappings for Jena/Pellet ( [http://jena.sourceforge.net/|http://jena.sourceforge.net/] ).
My porblem is that I don't know who to migrate the project to JDev and then use it as a web service, while the file structure stays the same plus everything is uploaded to Oracle as a web service. Meaning everything has to be included in one java package. Or am i wrong?
The file structure looks like this (from the EP):
    src\*.java
    owl\*.owl
    lib\*.lib
    location-mapping.n3
    expdt.props
The Libraries aren't a problem. They are all .jar-files but could be easily included in the project (JDev) but I don't know how to handle the other files. Especially the much needed owl files :(
Maybe I'm doing it all wrong. My Goal is to use the EP as a web servies for a business process to enforce rulings and obligations. I'm kinda stumped...
    Greetings,
    Sebastian

Thank you very much, Shay. It helped regaining overview of the project files. Before all additional files were in the AppFolder.
I got to a point where I (hopefully) only got a problem with the directory matching (which is needed by jena).
    Tanks again.

  • Eclipse differences versus JDeveloper

    Folks,
Is there a rundown on the differences between developing using Eclipse and JBoss versus JDeveloper and OC4J, JBoss, WebSphere, etc....? Any pointers to docs or info. on the differences of what is available and not available via one ide and a deployment and the other?
I've read through various docs especially the developers guide and though it makes some references to differences it doesn't seem to be comprehensive. The problem is that I seem to be running up against a wall in building services that ought to be no-brainers as described by the doc., but that do not work as discussed or seem to be incomplete or missing altogether in the JBoss/Eclipse version of the development and deployment environment I'm using.
I may be just grasping at straws and there are no meaningful differences between the JBoss/OC4j/Websphere, etc... deployments and JDeveloper/Eclipse development environments but if there are I would appreciate not having to spend alot of time I don't have in figuring what those are on my own.
If there were a reference like a matrix that lined up the services available via one deployment versus another and via one ide and another that would be very helpful from the get-go as anyone could make alot of setup choices from that alone.
    Thanks,

  • Eclipse instead of FlexBuilder?

    Hi..
I have been playing around with the FlexBuilder IDE but I
    find it clunky,
unresponsive, buggy and crash prone. I have downloaded the
    free Eclipse IDE
and I am curious how to integrate the Eclipse IDE with the
    free Flex SDK so
that I can compile MXML pages and preview them in my browser
    instead of
    using the Flex Builder IDE.

    Hi --
Thank you for clerifying the "adjectives" sentence. I am/was
    not sure how
much of the FB2 IDE was built "on top" of Eclipse and how
    much of it just
uses pieces of the underlying Eclipse architecture.
Is it possible then, without FB2 to build and compile Flex
    apps in Eclipse?
I understand that things such as the property viewer /
    component palette
would not be available but I am fine with that as I started
    writing HTML
code in Notepad way back in the days of Windows 95!
I am, ideally, looking for a way to integrate the Flex
    compiler included in
the free SDK with the Eclipse IDE.
    Thanks

  • Adding java projects in eclipse instead of jar files

I have 2 java projects, one is in C:/test/ProjectA and another is C:/test/ProjectB
Under projectA and ProjectB i have sub projects.
I mainly work on ProjectB and import the jar of ProjectA in eclipse.
Now I have removed jar file of ProjectA reference through eclipse and import projects to workspace, added projects under java build path. clean and build project. no compilation error in eclipse.
when i do this, one of the class file is not getting loaded while server startup:

when i add relevant jar file to the project and do a clean build server is getting started as expected.
But my changes are not reflecting since it is referring old jar file.
I am using Tomcat server as development environment.
What i want is instead of refering jar file in eclipse, add projects so that the new changes should reflect the changes without ant build for creating jar file and instead only with eclipse build with source code of the dependent project and run the application.

I mean before using either of the ant script the or build project option in eclipse. And because of this it is not giving error.

And when you deploy the build app in tomcat it looks for the dependent jar/classes in lib or classses folder, and as it is not there the error is thrown.
If you are using ant script then please specify which jar files to load in lib folder.

Or you can make the ant to prompt the user which jars to be loaded, while building (I suggest this option, rather than loading all the jar's of project A and project B).

  • Eclipse plugin vs JDeveloper plugin

    Hi
I recently installed the Oracle BPEL Designer Eclipse plugin and realized that it doesn't have the User Workflow extensions that the Oracle JDeveloper plugin has for almost a year. Any ideas when will the Designer plugin have the latest designer features.

When i import the source code and try to compile i get huge number of compilation errors as below. Below are only few examples. I have set the external libraries and jars for all the related projects. Any idea or pointers why the code with Generics has problem.
    Thanks,

  • Using Eclipse instead of XCode/Visual C++ ?

    Hello everybody,
I am pretty sure this question has already been asked, but I can't get any answer.
Why does Adobe recommend (and distribute samples) based on XCode and Visual C++? Why is there no documentation/projects based on Eclipse ? I can't see any problems using Eclipse, excepted Xcode/Visual C++ based sample projects and docs.
I have been working for monthes on Eclipse and I can only see advantages using it :
Cross-platform : no need to have Windows and OSX projects.
More functionalities : What about functionality such as call hierarchy, classes navigator, automatic suggestions... ?
Better integration : CPPUnit, Maven... What a wonderful world out of reach !
Has anyone among you ever tried to use Eclipse for InDesign plugin development ? What were the problems ? Why Adobe does not event mention the possibility to develop with Eclipse ? Is it really difficult to migrate to Eclipse projects ?
I'd like to read your feedbacks
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hello,
Yes, you can use still use the plugin.

  • Why use Raptor instead of JDeveloper?

Is there anything in Raptor that is not in JDeveloper?
I have been using JDeveloper for SQL PL/SQL script development and for general SQL duties as we don't have licenses for Toad or any other useful developer tool.
I have been trying out Raptor, but find that many of the featires that I like in JDeveloper are not in it.
For example, the Diagrammer, offline database tables, File oriented PL/SQL Development etc.
Have a missed a Raptor benefit? Is Raptor intended to be a sub-set of JDeveloper features - e.g. JDeveloper Lite without the Java stuff?

Raptor is for database developers, not Java developers. I put together a quick list of features that we have added to Raptor:
    Oracle Objects:
    for tables -
    - create simple table
    - on create table, generate pk trigger and sequence
    - support of partitioned and index organized tables (by production)
    - copy table
    - normalize column
    - table data grid edit (with sort and filter)
    other objects -
    - additional view, index, synonym, type support,
    - database link support
    - recycle bin support
    - limited user management (more to come)
    other -
    - right-click actions for all objects
    - more details for almost all objects
    SQL Worksheet:
    - explain plan
    - sql history
    - dbms output
    - owa output
    - bind variable support
    - sql script
    - support commit option (autocommit or not)
    - dragging objects into Worksheet
    PL/SQL support:
    - code folding
    - code formatting
    Other:
    - export of data to various formats
    - snippets
    - ddl generator (by production)
    - reporting (included and user-defined)
    - smaller footprint
    and more to come …
