Editable CD ROM presentation

Hi
I've been asked to create a CD ROM Presentation in
Flash/Director which allows the user to select pages from the full
version to re-package as a cut-down version that can be shown to
target audiences.
(They don't need to be able to edit text etc. on the slides
themselves.)
My first thought is to display the pages as thumbnails each
with a 'select' button that would save page info. into some kind of
list. A 'peview' would then draw from this list and let them check
their presentation and saving would allow them to name and save the
new version.
My actionscript knowledge is quite basic so I'm not sure if
this is a good approach or how to create the code.
Thanks for any help
Tristram

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm sorry but I think I will need
to back track as I'm not sure how to set up the list or quite where
to put the code that you have suggested.
I have set up a test file with some of the basic elements in
place which is at the ftp below.
ftp file editablepresentation
The username is ftp.flashforum
The password is forum23
If you could help me a bit further then I'd really appreciate
it. The file shows a menu where you can view the full presentation
or go into the edit mode. In edit there are a set of slide
thumbnails acting as buttons to make the selection. When clicked
I'd like to get them to change to the remove version and add their
name to the list (clicking on the remove button would then remove
their name and revert to the initial state. I guess ultimately they
could be draggable so that by dragging one slide over another they
would drop into the new position and the target slide plus all
following slides would shift on by one position. I think I need to
think a bit more about the save functionality as well. But one
thing at a time!
I hope this is ok and you can help me

  • How can I edit a Keynote presentation while it's playing?

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to edit a Keynote presentation while it's playing. That MUST be easily accomplished, but I can't find the method to do it.
    Any clues?

    Welcome to the forum, Arctistic!
Keynote uses a single set file to define a presentation, so changing a Keynote presentation while it is running would be like editing a movie while it is playing -- it's simply not set up to both display a running show on one monitor while allowing the file to be tinkered with on another. It would be nice if Keynote allowed the option to freeze the audience display on a slide image when the show was aborted, for just these purposes, but it currently doesn't have this capability.
As a workaround, if you know ahead of time where a single edit point will be, you could set up your displays so that the desktop of the audience display shows an image of the slide you want to pause on. That way, when you temporarily exit the slideshow to do your edits on your monitor, the audience would simply continue to see the same slide. Since one can access Dashboard widgets while Keynote is running, you could presumably even set up a system that allows for multiple break points by creating a widget that sits on the presenter desktop that changes the audience desktop to several different slide images. This would not, however, allow for arbitrary edit points, nor would allow the slideshow to continue moving through slides while the edit is underway.
If the presentation is completely linear, you could also possibly set it up so that the first part of the presentation is actually a Quicktime file of the Keynote presentation, running in a fullscreen QT Player, and only at the end do you switch to a live version of Keynote. This would allow you to edit the final bit of the presentation in Keynote while the presentation runs (of course, the QT presentation can be made to work just like Keynote in advancing on click).

The Change Center is present and has the following text in there "Configuration editing is enabled. Future changes will automatically be activated as you modify, add or delete items in this domain".
Can someone please let me know if this is some issue that has to be fixed or is it because of any configurations this behaviour is seen.
    Thanks,

  • Audio Tip: Do not edit audio in Presenter

After much wasted time trying to figure out why is was not playing back properly with missing audio I wanted to pass this tip along...
With Presenter 7.0.6 or 7.0.7 do not edit audio. This includes inserting silence and cutting out audio.
For some reason Presenter created MULTIPLE MP3 files for each slide. I have one slide that has 55 seconds of audio and Presenter has split that into 16 different MP3 files. Some are .5 seconds long. This seems to mess up the play back sometimes freezing up playback.
Record your audio using something else and import one MP3 for each slide and then add the slide timing.

Hey Frank. This is a good tip. Ever since Presenter changed the way they handle audio files, we have stopped recording our audio in Presenter; we all happen to have Captivate licenses on my team so we use it to record and edit all audio before we export to Presenter. If we have to make any changes, we also go back to Captivate and import the changed audio again. We tried working with the Adobe "support" for months on this issue and got nowhere. Each time you alter audio, even if you remove your breathing sounds, if divides the audio into two parts at the place where you changed it. So, yes, for longer pieces of audio, you end up with multiple files. Presenter does "merge" them together when you publish; however, it doesn't do a very good job of it. So every time the playbar reaches one of these split sections of the audio, it has a little glitch.
Now that you can record audio in PowerPoint and since the PowerPoint integration is so much better in Captivate, we will be dropping our Presenter licences. We may keep one or two so we can update existing modules. Unfortunately when the product has too many glitches and the support is not good (we had Gold or Platinum support too), you can't afford to stay with the product. We've used it for about 6 years.

  • Project Rome Presentation Video Song

Hi everyone, i'm a fresh Adobe student user, and i've tried the new Porject Rome software, that seems very impressive and easy to use to do some stuff like flyers and something like that (graphic publishing). I just wanted to know what is the name of the song track used in the video presentation of the software in youtube too, it's fresh and cool for a dinamic presentation, but i didn't know if it was token from an artist or it was produced by adobe.
Thanks in advance for the answer.

  • Shorter Oxford English Dictioanry 6th Edition CD-ROM

For everyday purpose, I am pretty satisfied with Mac OS X's built-in Dictionary based on the New Oxford American Dictionary. It is up-to-date and has good coverage of colloquial North American English. But I am considering the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary 6th Edition on CD-ROM because I need a dictionary drawing more on literary and historical examples and giving more emphasis to serious written English than everyday spoken English.
I am posting this message because I want to know in terms of layout, if the SOED on CD-ROM is as pleasing and easy to use as Mac OS X's Dictionary. Is it "Mac-like"? Well, anyway I just want to know if it is user-friendly and if it is better to have the 2-volume hardcover edition or the CD-ROM version.
    Thank you.

The SOED for Mac was probably created using Apple's Human Interface Guidelines. If so, then it will be at least relatively nice to look at and to use. At one point (OS8 - Classic), I was using the full-blown OED on my machines (I don't know if they make a Mac version of the full OED anymore), and it was a little ugly and clunky, but a very fine resource, nevertheless.)

  • How can I download an Adobe Connect recorded presentation so I can edit it in Presenter?

I am not a computer guru, please give me step by step (elementary) directions.  Thank you!

If you are just trying to get the audio from the recording to put into a Presenter presentation, then I would do the following.
Append the recording url with /output/name.zip?download=zip (You can name the zip whatever you like)This will pull down the source files for the recording
In the zip you should find either a file called cameraVoIPX_X.flv (multiple if the audio was started and stopped through the presentation), if the audio was recorded with VoIP or an mp3 file if the audio was recorded through an integrated phone bridge. If recorded with VoIP, extract the camearVoip file(s) and change the file extension to mp3.
Import the Mp3(s) into Presenter and distribute the audio across the appropriate slidesAlternatively use Audition or some other audio editing software to clean up and cut the audio to per-slide files for easy import.
That should get you what you need.

  • Computer for Video Editing for the Present and Beyond

In an earlier post I announced that I have been a Premiere Elements user since Day One, and I also mentioned I was looking to have a new computer built from scratch rather than purchase from Dell or HP. I am close to finalizing that build, and am looking forward to upgrading to Elements 8.0. I am also looking forward to becoming a subscriber to Muvipix.com. Becoming a part of the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum coupled with being an eventual subscriber to Muvipix.com has elevated my enthusiasm for video editing. Special Thanks go to Bill Hunt and Steve Grisetti for anchoring this Adobe Pre E Forum. Your advice has motivated me to take my video editing with Premiere Elements to another level.
Speaking of advice, what does everyone think of the following specifications for my new computer? Is this a solid computer for video editing? In some cases some components lack specificity (model numbers, brand names, et cetera). Suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated as I take this final step. Thanks to all!
    ATX Antec     193 Computer Case
    X58 ASUS      Motherboard
    Core      i7- 930 Processor (1366)

I read your computer spec sheet. Thanks for sharing. You  said the ideal thing to do is use the computer just for video editing.  Best way to go. However, you still need an OS, which requires updates.  And you need to update drivers, and then there are product updates and  add-ons. You need to connect with the Internet to do all of this
I do not have $$ or space to have 2 computers, so my single computer is for day to day work, and video editing as a hobbyist... which of course is not "ideal" for video editing... but I don't make $$ at this, so I use what I have
I am still learning about Win7 64bit, so do not have all the startup process optimized... that is my next project, to figure out what does not need to be running, and remove that un-needed stuff from the startup
You also asked about backup... the IMAGE program I use is mentioned in http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/ADOBE.HTM#SmartOwn
I make a boot drive image to external USB hard drive before installing any new software

    HI,
In the SP2010 list "Request Page", whenever a user submits a request an automated email goes to a specific email id reagrding the submission of request.
I donot know how the internal procedure is done as i am totally new to SP . I tried going to List permission and checking the "Manage Access Request" for any presence of email id. But, i did not find any.
The current requirement is that i have to change that email id and put mine . I have no clue as to where i should go and change the email id.
I donot have the dev environment. Whatever i have to do , i need to do OOTB as no coding whatsoever has been done during designing this site.
Please let me know how i can do this OOTB .

It sounds like there is a workflow in place, if I'm understanding the scenario correctly. When viewing the List, go to Workflow Settings in the ribbon and see if there are any workflows attached to the List.
If there are, you can edit them with SharePoint Designer 2010 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16573). If the workflow was developed in Visual Studio, then you will need to find the author with the source code.

I was very excited to hear that S3 would support text editing buttons as in WordPress. But I'm not seeing them. Worse, I do see them when I use Vienna (which uses WebKit ) to edit WordPress pages. What am I missing?

  • Adobe Presenter 9 Video Editing

I have a question for anyone who can answer this:
Would Adobe Presenter 9 allow me to take a longer video and cut it up into smaller pieces to incorporate into a presentation? I have a slide deck being used in conjunction with recorded Instructor-Led Training. The recording for the ILT I believe is going to be one, continuous recording that lasts approximately 4 hours long. I need to be able to go in, cut out the pieces of the recording I need, and put them into my presentation to correspond to the slides. Will Adobe Presenter 9 allow me to do this level of editing?

No, Presenter doesn't have any video editing functionality worth mentioning. The little bit it does have is not going to help you. I would recommend that you look at a video editing tool to make the breaks in the full recording and then import the clips using Presenter. I'm sure that there are many free or low cost options. I personally like the AVS suite of tools, as they cost $59 for a lifetime of upgrades and support. AVS4YOU Top-ranked multimedia tools. Don't let the sale fool you, I've never not seen it on sale.
