Editable Interactive Report

Apex 4.2
I have been looking at this example of how to create an editable interactive report
http://dbswh.webhop.net/htmldb/f?p=BLOG:READ:0::::ARTICLE:137800346674748
I have it working, but I am now trying to update my table from the collection.
I have a page process that updates the table from the collection but at the moment it is
neccessary to click a submit button.
I don't want to do the update in the application process as I will be changing the page process to a process in the database.
Ideally, the user should not need to click this button, the update should be made automatically.
Is it possible to do this with a dynamic action.

Hi Gus
I am using a collection because I am having problems with the update if people move the report columns around or deselect columns. The update to the table needs to be done from a package in the database, as that is our standard.I still not sure what the problem is here. You know what columns have changed and the update can be done using a package so without knowing your environment it is hard to see why this is a problem
So I think I need a dynamic action that fires on change of a field and calls the process in the database. Any ideas on that ?You could create a DA which fires on a change to a value in the IR. However, you already have an onclick action on the IR to update the collection which is set up in the header javascript. So I would look at adding to this action or adding code to the application process rather than trying to do something different with a DA.

  • Interactive Report Hyperlinks to Document

    I am converting an Access database to Apex manually due to the Access DB design flaws. I'm exporting tables that contain hyperlinks to documents on our server (from Access the user can link to the document). On export the liinked text exported as "title of document#link to server#" so I separated them into two columns. I now have the document title in one column and the hyperlink to that document in another, and created an interactive report containing those two columns along with the rest of the columns (i.e., DOCNO, NAME, LINK, DATE, etc.)
    I want the user to link from the Interative Report link to that particular document on our server using the active link that I trimmed out.
    How?
    Your ideas welcomed!
    Thank you!

    Hi All,
    Thanks in advance
    I have created editable Interactive report based on Form with report .
    once report created , I have modified query with the column named TempNetto ,Temp Brutto .. Below is the query
    select "IDSUB",
    "JAHR",
    "IDMITARBEITERLISTE",
    "EKPREIS",
    "WEBUCHUNGEN",
    (WEBuchungen*EKPreis) TempNetto , --modified
    "NETTO",
    DECODE((WEBuchungen*EKPreis),0,0,(Netto+(Netto*VerwaltungskostenZuschlag)+(WEBuchungen*InfrastrukturkostenZuschlag))) TempBrutto, --modified
    "BRUTTO"
    from "#OWNER#"."SUBS"
    I receieved the below message "You have requested to change the Interactive Report query. If you added columns to the query, they will not be displayed when the report is run. You will need to use the actions menu and either select the columns or click Reset. If you removed any columns from the query, it will disable existing filters, highlight rules, and other report settings referencing those columns. Please confirm your request. "
    I want the column started with temp should appear in report . I have checked under search bar Action menu is checked and options like Select column and Reset is checked
    Kindly provide some help
    Cheers

    Hi,
    When you've selected all the columns (Select Columns) you then need to save the report...not reset it. Go back and make sure all columns are on the right and then:
    - Save Report
    - As Default Report Settings
    - Apply

  • Create Filter on an Interactive Report in a Link

    Hello,
    Here is info on my environment:
    Database: 10.2.0.1.0
    O/S: Windows XP
    APEX: v3.2.1
    I am trying to use the IR<operator>_<target column alias> feature to filter the linked Interactive Report. The feature does not seem to work. Does this feature work on a 10g database?
    Background:
    I am building the application (AnyCo Corp) described in the _2 Day + Application Express Developer’s Guide_ . On page 4-27 the section titled "_Linking a Column Value to Another Page_" describes linking from the Department report to the Employee report with the Column Link item IR_DEPARTMENT_ID. The link did not work, however.
    The included APEX Users Guide discusses this feature. The path to the relevant section is: Home > Adding Application Components > Creating Reports > Editing Interactive Reports > Linking to Interactive Reports. The Guide describes the string IR<operator>_<target column alias> with lots of operators.
    This is a neat feature. Unfortunately, no matter how I try to use it, it does not work. What am I doing wrong?

  • How to remove the edit icon in interactive report?

    Hi All,
    I am using the Customer Tracker 1.1 sample and I would like to remove the edit icon on the Customers list. (Instead I would like the Customer name to be the link itself).
    However, nothing I do on the reports properties seems to have any effect on this icon!
    I have even remove the A.ID column from the underlying SQL query but I still see the little pencil!
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Pawel.

    Sorry for the spam!
    I just discovered the whole new section in the Interactive Report - Link Column - just needed to exlude the link.

  • Edit Link on Interactive Report

    I have an Interactive report with the edit link on each record to call a form. Is it possible for the edit link to show on specific records (instead of all)? I have a security requirement where the users shouldn't be allowed to edit (go the maintenance form) certain records.

    I'm not sure if u're talking about default link?
    If yes u can ignore that one and try to insert Your own image or link as ' a href=... text /a ' as Link
    in a href U can use javascript, or write page url - it should work
    and now answer about Your question - "text" can be inside decode or nvl (nvl2) function where u can combinate with all kind of sql functionality (as query) to specify when it should show text or when it should show null (when it's null U can't clisk on this.
    edit: or as Roel wrote ;) - more easier way

  • Interactive report with checkbox and editable field

    Hi,
    For a project I'm working on I need to create a interactive report in Apex 3.2 with the ability to select lines and to modify one of the columns in the report.
    To do this, I started off by adding these two fields to the selection query of my IR:
    apex_item.checkbox(1, product_number) cb
    and
    apex_item.text (2,QTY_TO_ORDER) QTY_TO_ORDER
    cb is the checkbox files, and QTY_TO_ORDER is the editable field.
    That worked like a charm and I got my two fields in the report.
    To process the values, I added this page process, wich for now should only store the "product number" and "QTY_TO_ORDER" fields in a table.
    BEGIN
    FOR i in 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.count LOOP
    insert into mytmptable values (APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i),APEX_APPLICATION.G_F02(i));
    END LOOP;
    commit;
    end;
    However, this doesn’t work the way I want it to work. When I check the checkboxes of two rows, it will store two rows with the right product numbers, but it will take the top two QTY_TO_ORDER field of the table regardless of which ones are checked. I was able to solve this problem, by adding a rownum to the query and using the rownum as the value for the checkbox. Since I still need the product_number and qty_to order fields I made them both text fields.
    I changed my page process to:
    BEGIN
    FOR i in 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.count LOOP
    insert into mytmptable values (APEX_APPLICATION.G_F02(APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i)),
    APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03(APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i)));
    END LOOP;
    commit;
    end;
    This seemed to solve the problem, and I now got the right values in the table, unless I used sorting in the report... As soon as I sorted the report in a way different than by rownum, I got the wrong values in the table. The reason for this is of course that my insert just selects the nTh row from the table, and my rownums aren't dynamic.
    I've found a lot of examples on the internet using '#ROWNUM#' in the selection, which should dynamically generate a rownum in the report. This seems to work in normal report, but in a interactive reports, the literal values '#ROWNUM#' shows up.
    Is there any way to solve this issue?

    Hi,
    Try with 3 fields:
    apex_item.checkbox(1, product_number) cb,
    apex_item.text (2,QTY_TO_ORDER) QTY_TO_ORDER,
    apex_item.hidden(3, product_number) prod_no
    The hidden field should be display as a hidden column.
    Then your process can be:
    BEGIN
    FOR i in 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01.count LOOP
    FOR j in 1..APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03.count LOOP
    IF APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i) = APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03(j)) THEN
    insert into mytmptable values (APEX_APPLICATION.G_F01(i),APEX_APPLICATION.G_F02(j));
    exit;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP;

  • How do you make editable entries in an Interactive Report?

    I have seen a feature in other Apex applications that I can't reproduce. There is an interactive report in which each row has an Edit icon (pen and pad) and clicking on it leads to a form page which displays the info, so you can edit it.
    I haven't been able to build an IR that will show this icon. How can I do this?

    Steve,
    This link should show you the way.. Edit Link on Interactive Report
    Also, could you change your profile name to smeothing more human? We know you are steve, maybe you could change it to the signature you use on your messages?

  • Changing the default edit icon of interactive reports

    Hi,
    I have tried to look around to find a place to set the default edit icon of interactive reports and I cant seem to find it.
    Another thing is: What would be the best practice to change the icon to a new image that is NOT part of the apex installation? Right now we have 8 icons to choose from, which are all located in apex image library. Its not even located in the theme. So if I just overwrite the current default icon it would be overwritten again next time I upgrade apex.

    Create a style sheet and include it in all required page templates:
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="LINK"] a img {
      display: none;
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="LINK"] a:link,
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="LINK"] a:visited {
      display: block;
      /* Change dimensions to size of your icon */
      height: 18px;
      width: 18px;
      /* Change URL to location of your icon */
      background: transparent url(/i/ws/small_page.gif) no-repeat;
    }This removes the edit icon specified in the IR attributes and replaces it by showing whatever icon you want as a background image on the link element. This allows you to change the icon universally for all IRs by making a simple change to the dimensions/background image URL in one place.

  • Interactive report's data not displaying on the edit form.

    I have an interactive report that contains 3 rows. When I click on the edit button next to one of these rows, the edit form displays the data from that row.
    But when I click the edit buttons next to the other 2 report rows, I get an error message that states: "ORA-01403: no data found. Error Unable to fetch row."
    I do not see why this is happening. The PK of the table involved is "Request Date", so the report's "Link Column" region sends the value "Request Date" to the item P54_Request_Date in the form page.
    Any idea why this would work correctly for one of the report rows but not for the other 2?
    Clearly, each of the report rows must have a value for the PK, so why would the form not be able to find the same row that the report displays? Is it a problem with the form's "Fetch Row from" process?
    Thanks.

    Hello:
    Your problems are primarily related to in your choice of a 'Date' type as the PK for your table. The Automated Row Fetch (ARF) process uses a SQL statement similar to the one below to retrieve a record from a table select c1, c2, c3 ... from tab where PK_col = :page_item_containing_PK_value . This would work find if the the 'page_item_containing_PK_value' were of the DATE data type. However, all APEX binds are done using varchar2. This means that the 'page_containging_PK_value' needs to have the char representation of the date that matches the default date setting on your database. So the page-item needs to be something like 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI'. In your case the PK item is probably being set to 'DD-MON-YYYY' and therefore the fetch fails.
    Now, for the 'issue with the :' in the character representation of the date.The link on the report page uses the standard APEX URL syntax to construct the link
    f?p=App:Page:Session:Request:Debug:ClearCache:itemNames:itemValues:PrinterFriendly
    As you can see, the ':' acts as the separator that delineates the components that make up the APEX URL. So, having a ':' in the 'itemValues' component will make the APEX engine treat whatever follows the ':' in the value passed as a delimiter as opposed to being part of the value being passed.

  • Is it possible to have editable text field in interactive report?

    Is it possible to have editable text field in interactive report?
    Thanks,
    Dip

    Hi,
    I followed your suggestion and defined an IR with apex_item.text columns and it works fine. Now however I face a new problem when I run the page and use the standard Search Bar:
    - Click on Actions/Filter
    - Select a column, for example the employee name.
    - Open the Expression field LOV: I correctly see the different names.
    - When I select one of the names, in the Expression field, instead of the name, I see:
    "<input type="text" name="f03" size="20" maxlength="2000" value="Eugene" />"
    Horrible!!!!!!
    Is there a way to see the name and not that expression? The same thing get downloaded, so it´s really annoying.
    Thank you very much in advance for your help!!!

  • Interactive Report with specific rows editable

    I have an interactive reports, with the edit (pencil) link to a maintenance form. I only want the link to show for specific records in the reports. Can you put a condition in the link column to the pencil for certain records?
    If so, how can you access the value of the field? ie. I need to check the value of 'USER_NAME' in the select below against :APP_USER
    select A.pk_id as "PK_ID",
    A.fk_sis_user as "FK_SIS_USER",
    A.list_name as "LIST_NAME",
    A.list_description as "LIST_DESCRIPTION",
    B.user_name as "USER_NAME",
    A.creation_date as "CREATION_DATE"

    Not exactly what you are asking for, but it may give you an idea hot to create conditional
    icon and link.

  • How to edit "Single Row View" in Interactive Reports?

    Hi,
    When using Interactive Report when one clicks on the little page icon on the left on a gievn row - one is presented with a small output from all columns for that row.
    For example login as demo/demo to:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=12988:1
    And click on the first icon in the first row. You'll get an output like:
    Empno     7839
    Ename     KING
    Job     PRESIDENT
    Mgr     -
    Hiredate     17-NOV-81
    Sal     5000
    Comm     -
    Deptno     10
    How (and where) can I modify the output of this?
    Regards,
    Pawel.

    Thanks, for your responses.
    In fact this is what I have done. What I am looking after is simply how to modify what is already there. That way, I don't need to create different pages with Next/Previous buttons etc... for every Interactive Report I have.

  • Questions on Interactive Report Icons

    When I created an Interactive Report, rectangular icons have been automatically created on the left side of the report on every line.
    When clicked one of the icons, it displays the details of the line in vertical order.
    Here are my questions:
    1. When I've hidden some columns in the interactive report and clicked the icon, it does not display hidden column details. But I want to hide those columns only in the report but displays all details when the icon is clicked. How can I do this?
    2. How can I hide the icons?
    3. How can I use the icons not to display line details but to direct to an editable page to edit the same details?
    Thanks,

    Hello
    1. When I've hidden some columns in the interactive report and clicked the icon, it does not display hidden column details. But I want to hide those columns only in the report but displays all details when the icon is clicked. How can I do this?You can create another region, or page that will show your row description by identifier or rowid. You can do this by changing Link Column type to "Link to Custom Target"
    2. How can I hide the icons?Go to Interactive Report -> Link Column -> Link Column change to (Exclude Link Column)
    3. How can I use the icons not to display line details but to direct to an editable page to edit the same details?The same as answer 1.
