Editing a Wait Step in Campaign Canvas

I have a wait step in Campaign Canvas to wait until a specific date - 5/5/15 at 7am because the email is supposed to go out at that time. If I want to change the send date, can I deactivate the program and then change that wait step to wait until 5/7/15, will there be any issues with people that are currently held in that step? I know in Program Builder it can be tricky editing the Hold steps if there are people currently in that step, but if I'm not waiting a specified number of days, but rather a specific date, should I be OK to go ahead and do that? Or should I just add another wait step after the wait until 5/5/15 instead of editing it?
Thanks!

Yes, you should be fine to de-activate, change the date and re-activate. If you don't trust it, you could always keep the wait step like it is, then pass them into a second wait step with the new date. That way you can even visually see if they move.
Another way to verify is you can click on the green bubble in the corner of the wait step - then scroll all the way to the right, and on the contacts it will tell you when they are waiting until(sometimes you have to adjust the column sizes to be able to see it depending on browser)

  • Warning about past dates on Campaign Canvas

    It would be awesome if Eloqua alerted you if a Wait Step had a date that was in the past.
    e.g. by changing the color of the wait step
    or by adding a little notification icon
    This could help to prevent mistakes

    What a great idea. I address this (and other dumb mistakes I've made) by using a Campaign Checklist spreadsheet. I won't activate a campaign until I've gone through a series of steps for each element in the Canvas, including checking whether the names of my events are correct, whether the wait step is in an appropriate timezone (as well as being in the present), etc. It's amazing how many mistakes my checklist has saved me from making - dumb things like calling an "Industry Congress" an "Industry Conference," etc. I really don't have OCD (anyone who sees my desk will attest to this) but I regard taking the extra step to go through this checklist as part of protecting my company's brand.
    And whenever I make a new mistake, I add it to my checklist. Believe me, the checklist does continue to grow!

  • Using WAIT step in Sync/Async Bridge

    I am using a sync/async bridge and placed a 1 minute wait step in between my async send and async reply.  When I test my process, the async reply comes in but then my 1 minute wait eventually times out and gives me an error.  Can someone guide me in fixing this BPM design (which steps to add and how)?
    http://webpages.charter.net/kpwendel/bpm_with_wait.jpg
    I would like it to stop waiting once the async reply comes in and not timeout.  If the 1 minute mark comes and a reply never came in, it would also be nice to send back an error message.
    Thanks!

    I pulled my WAIT task and had this scenario working a week ago.  I have not made any changes, but now my inbound replies to close the BPM and link up to the request are not "linking".  The request is eventually timing out even though the reply with a good correlation id comes in successfully.  Any suggestions?
    UPDATE:  I went through my objects in the IB:Config and resaved/activated them and now it is working.  Don't know what messed them up in the first place.

  • Wait Step in Workflow

    Hi Workflow gurus,
    I have 2 questions want to ask.
    1. We have a wait step deadline monitoring in our workflow project. Let's say 30 day wait period. After 30 days workflow is getting triggered & everything works fine. But that is really required in Production. In Dev/QA systems we do not want to wait really 30 day. We want a small time period, let's say 1 day. Now what is the best way to handle this? Meaning Different time periods for different systems for the same workflow & same wait step period.
    2. If a work item is waiting for a wait step to be completed(for ex waiting for 60 day wait period) before 60 day itself,
    can we execute manually that work item using any std report?
    Kindly help me.
    Thanks,
    Pandu.

    Hi Pandu,
    1. There are a couple of things you can do in this instance. You could manually remove the deadline after the 1 day threshold.
    Open the work item and select Edit -> Change -> Change Deadline -> Excute and then remove the Requested Start deadline
    (ensure you have Technical View set for the work item display)
    Deadline monitoring (SWWDHEX) will have to execute before the work item will transition out of a Waiting state.
    Alternatively you could store the deadline parameter externally in a config table somewhere and retrieve it into the workflow for use with your deadline. Obviously when you change the configuration from 30 days to 1 taking care to ensure that the changes are not transported to prod. Not really fond of this since there is a risk of transporting the changes.
    2. Transactions like SWIA don't allow you to execute work items in a Waiting state. So as above go into the work item and either change the deadline or execute.
    I hope this helps,
    Best Regards,
    Trevor

  • WAIT STEP issue in a BPM

    Hi all,
    We have a following message (as a result of a transformation) FECHA is an xsd:date and HORA is an xsd:time. The cardinality of every elements is 1..1:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>  <MT_Retraso_Entrada_Wait>

      <FECHA>2006-10-27</FECHA>
      <HORA>15:00:00.0</HORA>

    And we assing this values to the wait step but it doesn't work.
    Has anybody any idea?
    Thanks

    HI SUDHEER,
    Many thnaks for your help, But it is working with this value as constant.
    I tried to remove the 0 but still not working is not picking up this values, the desired date and time in the wait step are empty.
    How are you using the same MT just in case?.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • Eloqua Wishlist/ Functionalities for Campaign Canvas

    Campaign Canvas wishlist: As eloqua already has most of this functionality in parts and components, it would be good to see this all on campaign canvas.
    This will deffinately help all users across all campaigns, minimizing time and effort to setup and execute campaigns.
    (The icons are fake, they do not exist, just a wishlist mockup )
                    Step
                    Functionality
    Campaign Scheduler
    Combining the functionality of program feeder along with Campaign settings.
           A/B/N Split
    Combining the functionality of Percent based routing and Email Batches. Giving options such as:
    1. Split by counts
    2. Split by Percentages
    3. Data/ Data Card Field values
    4. Split by Open/ Click thru winners over time. Example: 5,5,90
             Send Notification
    A Notification step that allows us to send notifications, based on when the                campaign exection is complete. Few options:
    1. Notification to one or more email addresses, seperated by commas.
    2. Notification to Contact group(s), or user group(s).
    3. Notification to uploaded list of email addresses. (Can leverage contact upload wizard)
    4. An option to choose any emails to be used a notifications.
    5. Ability to choose sender or signature rule to send notificaitons.
        Multi-Channel Delivery
    Ability to Send communications via 1 or more channels. The Options are:
    1. Email
    2. Direct Mail (May be into a some sort of list, with third party settings)
    3. SMS. (Internal or with third party settings)
    4. Phone Voicemail (To send voicemails, internal or with third party settings)
    5. Mobile version (If preferences available, otherwise based on responsive design)
    6. Fax (Internal or third party settings)
    7. To third party system wit configration settings.
    Upload wizard for Components Library
    1. Email Header
    2. Email Footer
    3. Shared Content
    4. Dynamic Content
    5. Signature Layout
    6. Signature Rule
    Any thoughts are welcome!!

    Love the running list! Here's a few more to add:
    - Ability to schedule specific batch sizes/times for emails to go out -- for example, if I have a segment of 1000 people, i want to be able to send to 100 people today at 9am and then the rest tomorrow at 10am without having to create 2 separate segments or create a filter to base a decision rule off of.
    - Decision rules based off of segments -- it's a pain to have to save it as a shared list just to filter.
    - Ability to view all Campaign Members by step, and to search by it. Currently if I want to remove a contact from the Campaign, I have to know exactly what step they're in and manually go in and remove them rather than searching among all Campaign Members.
    - Ability to drag/drop or delete multiple items at once -- if you have a large drip program and then you decide to add in a step at the beginning, you currently have to either live with what becomes a really messy-looking canvas, or you have to take the time to move every element on the canvas individually to make room for the new steps. Related to this: Ability to move the auto-created segments when members are added from either Program Builder or a Form processing step -- currently these all just stack on top of each other so you can't read them.
    A lot of these would be covered if we can get full Program Builder functionality added to Campaign Canvas!

  • Handling large number of waves in Campaign Canvas

    Hi All,
    I want to bounce off some ideas around create multi wave campaigns.
    We have few campaigns that have more than 15 waves. When we try to build these in Campaign Canvas, we are not able to accommodate all waves in the same Campaign, especially because there is some Opt and other processing between waves. For example, the total number of waves are split across 3 campaign canvas, with contacts moving from the first campaign to second and then to third.
    This is done because the campaign canvas does not allow us to keep scrolling vertically or horizontally.
    Is there a better way of handling this?
    Aditya

    Aditya,
    Your best option is to split these across multiple canvases.  I have worked with customers that use the individual campaign in Eloqua as the 'treatment' and, using a campaign hierarchy in their CRM, roll up the results. (hopefully Eloqua puts campaign hierarchies back into the application to allow for this to be done within Eloqua again)
    I have done nurture programs like this with an 'Learn/Solve', 'Compare', and 'Purchase' campaign.  Each with 5-7 emails and corresponding landing pages.
    The canvas gets unwieldy at more than 10 emails with the corresponding wait and decision points.
    This also makes reporting a bit easier for reporting on nurture stage.

  • Event triggerred before Wait step

    What can we do when the event is triggerred before the wait step? Does anyone know about the concept of parked events?
    Iam using f.m swe_event_create, can we use the start_with_delay option or some other option..
    I would like to have some delay before the second event is raised. but at the same time as this would be a online program, the user should not feel the delay..
    or the Wait step should be modified to pick up already created events..(i think this is called parked events).
    CALL FUNCTION 'SWE_EVENT_CREATE'
    EXPORTING
    *objtype =
    *objkey =
    *event =
    CREATOR = ' '
    TAKE_WORKITEM_REQUESTER = ' '
    START_WITH_DELAY = ' '
    START_RECFB_SYNCHRON = ' '
    NO_COMMIT_FOR_QUEUE = ' '
    DEBUG_FLAG = ' '
    NO_LOGGING = ' '
    IDENT =
    IMPORTING

    Hi Karri, thanks for the reply ..There is a presentation on parked events if you search the wiki and blogs on this site, you will find it but thats the only thing i have seen about it and its not really helpful.
    the problem is.. 2 Inbound idocs are created both at the same time one raises a event for workflow.. one raises a event for Wait step in the same workflow ..
    The 2 inbound F.Ms which raise the events, can error sometimes or the workflow can create a workitem before the Wait step and hang in there till its processed..(its unpredictable which one will trigger first)
    If the second event(for Wait step) is raised first and the workflow processing has not yet reached the Wait step, the workflow waits for the event to be raised(although the event is already there)
    Do you know of some way we can keep reprocessing until the Event receiver is found? (may be in a Raise event workflow step or in a Function Module)

  • To the Suggestions Box: Dependent Picklists in Campaign Canvas

    I understand that currently dependent picklists don't exist within Campaign Canvas. This would be a great feature to have and would allow us entering accurate and consistent data.

    Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration.You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect.
    hen perform these steps:
    Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
    In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

  • Waiting step wait longer though event has created

    HI Experts,
    I have a WF which has a waiting step in one of two parallel branches of a Fork. I use below FM to create an event which is successfully created but my workflow sometimes takes longer to continue. It shows the status READY longer. BUT sometimes it works fine but sometimes more than 20, 30 minutes. I want to know why??? has any one an idea why??
    CALL FUNCTION 'SWE_EVENT_CREATE'
        EXPORTING
          objtype                                    = c_object
          objkey                                      = lv_key
          event                                       = c_event
          START_RECFB_SYNCHRON  = 'X'
          NO_COMMIT_FOR_QUEUE      = 'X'
        IMPORTING
          event_id                                   = lv_envt_id
          receiver_count                        = lv_rcvr_cnt
        EXCEPTIONS
          objtype_not_found                   = 1
          OTHERS                                   = 2.

    Hi,
    Definately check SWEL. It will probably give you more information what happened to the event or what it is waiting for.
    There is not really that much difference between the functions. Both will create the event. But in general you should always chekc SAP_WAPI* functions before using some SWW* function when you are doing workflow development. They are newer versions and the support API for workflow development.
    Regards,
    Karri
    EDIT: And perhaps with the SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT the events would work better - which I actually doubt in your case, because I think that there is something wrong in the system of some general configurations (events go into queue or whatever).

  • Reading the value of the "WaitForTarget" attribute of the Wait step

    I am trying to access the  "Step.WaitForTarget" attribute for the Wait step but can't find the correct syntax to use in an expression or the correct API calls to use in an action step.  I intend to use this in an expression as I am looking for a specific value.
    I have a object reference to the step that I am testing  (Locals.StepRef) and from that I have no issues reading the standard attributes like name, step type, preconditions, etc...
    How do we access the special additional properties of the wait step ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey 4watt,
    One easy way to do this is to access the step reference as a PropertyObject and use GetValNumber to obtain the value. For example:
    Locals.StepRef.AsPropertyObject.GetValNumber("WaitForTarget",0)
    I tested this out and it does correctly return the value of WaitForTarget. Let us know if you need any more assistance!

  • BPM(with wait step) calling another BPM

    Hello,
    I have this scenario whereby i need to call a BPM from another BPM process. Call it BPM1 and BPM2. BPM1 will have a Sync-Send-step to call BPM2.
    The following is what i have setup:-
    Working OKAY:-
    BPM1 (receive from file, send syn step to BPM2) --> BPM2(receive step (Open S/A Brige) from BPM1, send step (Close S/A Bridge))
    But if i put an wait step (for 1 minute, see below) before the send syn step in BPM1, i will have problem and the queue in BPM1 show "STOP" and the BPM2 queue show "RETRY".
    Problem:-
    BPM1 (receive from file, wait step, send syn step to BPM2) --> BPM2(receive step (Open S/A Brige) from BPM1, send step (Close S/A Bridge))
    Yes, the RETRY will work but the problem is, my BPM1 has already timeout and has ERROR (see from SWWL) and BPM2 has exceptional error in the Close A/S Bridge send step (because it can't send back to BPM1).
    Anyone has any idea how to resolve this? and hopefully the above is clear enough to discribe the problem that i'm facing now.
    Any suggestions are welcome, scott.

  • ABAP OO class-based workflow, wait step

    Hello,
    I'm hoping someone is able to help me.  I've implemented a class which triggers a custom workflow through a custom event of the class.  At one point during the workflow I want to use a wait step that waits for another custom event to occur.  I've created my second event which I want to trigger from an ABAP ALV Grid report for users, that will allow them to select the specific workflows to trigger this event for.  My problem is, I am having trouble figuring out how to find the correct object instance of my class from within the ABAP program and trigger the event specifically for that instance, so that the workflow can continue and eventually complete.  I have implemented the IF_WORKFLOW interface and up to this point the workflow is functioning correctly.
    Thanks,
    Leslie

    Hello,
    Sorry, not sure where my brain was. Actually I do know: at two clients with projects going live this month, so apologies for a rushed and inaccurate response. It's CL_SWF_EVT_EVENT.
    Jocelyn's blog I referred to includes a code sample using the same class on how to raise an event with an object key.
    Regarding your second question: No you don't need to do any binding. Just use an instance of your object and it will wait for an event with the same key. The WF part is very straightforward and works exactly like BOR, it's just raising event that can't be done with the WAPI.
    Cheers,
    Mike
