Editing MDS Artifacts in JDeveloper.

I copied my MDS artifacts onto my local development machine and created a file based MDS connection in JDeveloper. The file based MDS Connection is pointing to the directory where I placed my MDS artifacts. When I open an XSD from MDS Connectios in JDeveloper, I am unable to edit the XSD. Is this by design?
What does Oracle suggest for development teams to be able to edit or enhance MDS artifacts? One option is to open these XSD's in XMLSpy or XML editing tools and manage them independently of JDeveloper. Other option is to create a project manually in JDeveloper and import the MDS file Location?
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Although, it is not directly supported OOTB, but still you can do that in JDev. This is what I think, you should do in order to edit the MDS artifacts and then, deploy those to the Server.
(1) I assume, you already have a jar used for the MDS Deployment. This jar contains the MDS artifacts, you want to edit.
(2) Follow this Oracle article, which mentions how you can have a JDeveloper - MDS based deployment profile. Then, you can edit the MDS artifacts in JDeveloper and deploy those all also.
(3) But there is a catch here.. You'll always have the content edited by you. Imagine, another developer making changes to the XSD, then, the latest copy of that XSD won't be available in JDeveloper for edition. If you always want to have the latest copy of the MDS, then, I would suggest that you extract the MDS contents from the server (in the form of a jar) and use the same jar in Step 1.
Its a kinda long-shot, but..it is what it is :-)
Hope it helps !

  • How to use schemas in MDS with the JDeveloper JAXB compiler ?

    Hello,
I would like to use the JAXB2 compiler to generate a content model from an XSD in MDS. I don't find any way to do it because in order to select the source schema I only can browse my project and application directory but not the MDS. I configured JDeveloper such that to connect to MDS and I'm able to browse the MDS, to open artifacts. But I cannot extract/export/download them from MDS to the JDeveloper project such that to use the JAXB compiler against it. I tried the Add to project function once that the artifact is opned but nothing seems to happen. How could I do that ?
    Many thanks in advance,

    hi Henrique Pinto!
but you'll need to import all the wsdl's,,,
this mean that i will have to request another wsdl which is general wsdl contained object and operation and soap action?
or i can use only this wsdl and then need to do something in external definition with this wsdl?

  • Blog post : "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)"

    hi
Using steps 1 to 13 from the blog post "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)" by Andrejus Baranovskis, I have been able to reproduce the issue he describes.
    see http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/bug-in-createedit-view-criteria-wizard.html
I the blog post comments he writes "... there was no time for me to fill bug in Metalink ...".
Maybe someone from Oracle can pick it up from this forum post and file it as a bug if it is one (and if possible post the bug number here).
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

The mechanism is to create a reproduceable test case, create a Service Request in metalink.oracle.com, post the test case, and convince the analyst to file it as a bug.
It may be not efficient at some time, but this the way it is handled.

  • How to acess MDS artifacts in OSB at Run time

    Hi all,
I have a requirement like , i need to access some of  the artifacts at run time from MDS. is it possible?
i could import the the artifacts by using http protocal , below is the link for same, in this duplicate of artifacts will be copied to local working space.
Yuan's SOA Blog: Sharing common XSD's between OSB and SOA using MDS
i have seen we couldnt use absolute pathe in osb to import any thing, we should use only relative path, without giving any absolute path how to access the MDS artifacts?
    Thanks,
    Rajashekhar.

don't think you will be able toe reuse the artifacts in the mds.
the xsds/wsdls etc need to be 'registered' in the osb workspace to be able to use them for other artifacts like proxyservices, you can use for example an oramds import ...that won't work
you could have 1 place where you store the artifacts for mds and also use that location for 'shared' resources in your osb.
on deploy of osb, osb will use this folder to construct the sbconfig.jar and on deploy of the composite and mds, you will also use this folder to import it to the mds database.
not an ideal solution, but like that you can store the artifacts on 1 location and reuse it in both soasuite and osb

  • How to create the OSB artifacts in JDeveloper

The docs I've seen get me a little closer in being able to test the DB and AQ Adapters on the OSB, but it really does not help me understand how to do it through JDeveloper.
In the past we have done all of the OSB development in Eclipse and then imported it into the OSB.
Again, the docs I've seen shows how to do the Adapter configuration in JDeveloper and then how to create the Business Services and Proxy Services directly in the OSB console.
But I need to know how to create the OSB artifacts in JDeveloper then import them into the OSB or if this is even possible. I know there is an optional Eclipse component that you can install with OSB. Will we have to use both tools? (e.g. Eclipse for the OSB components and then JDev for the Adapters.)
    Anyone have clarification?

Again, the docs I've seen shows how to do the Adapter configuration in JDeveloper and then how to create the Business Services and Proxy Services directly in the OSB console.WSDL/Binding generation is required to be done in JDEV. OEPE/Workshop doesn't have these adapter plugins to generate WSDL and Bindings. Once the WSDL/Binding are generated you can either use sbconsole or OEPE/workshop for your usual development.
But I need to know how to create the OSB artifacts in JDeveloper then import them into the OSB or if this is even possible. There are no OSB artifacts that need development in JDEV. As you are aware the oracle adapters exposes back-end functionality in XML interface. This XML interface is modeled by WSDL. For adapters to work we need the WSDL and corresponding binding. Since OSB JCA transport uses adapters, we are required to provide these components.
Will we have to use both tools? For any services that are using JCA adapters, we need to use both (JDEV and (sbconsole or OEPE) ).
IF your services doesn't have to use JCA adapters then JDEV is not required.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • How to edit weblogic.xml in Jdeveloper web project

    Hi, All,
I created a web application in Jdeveloper11.1.1.1 and deployed to weblogic server 10.3, I found there is weblogic.xml under WEB-INF folder in war file.
I try to add something in weblogic.xml, but the problem is I cannot find weblogic.xml in Jdeveloper.
How to edit weblogic.xml in Jdeveloper? Thanks in advanced.
    Best Regards,
    Bill

The weblogic.xml file is generated at deploy time if it doesn't exist in your application. To create it specifically in your application at design time for editing, select the appropriate project then the New option, from the New Gallery select General -> Deployment Descriptors -> Weblogic Deployment Descriptor, and in the resulting dialog select the weblogic.xml file. It will be added to the project -> Web Content -> WEB-INF directory.
    Cheers,
    CM.

  • How can I use the find button in Edit ADF Table in JDeveloper 10.1.3

    Hi all,
    in JDeveloper 10.1.3
How can I make the find button work in
the same Edit ADF Table without adding new view ?
    thanks

    Hi there,
it depends on what you mean by adding a new view object. You[b] don't have to create a new viewobject. You do have to add a second instance of your existing view object to your page.
Form scratch works more or less like this. Drop your view object as ADF table on the form. Add the find and execute operations. Drop the same view object on your form but now as ADF search form. Place the fields form the search form in the corresponding columns next to the existing fields. For each #{row} field ,and the find button, set the rendered property
#{bindings.testUserIterator.findMode ==false}. For each inputfield, and the execute, set the rendered property #{bindings.testUserIterator.findMode ==true}.
    Now it will work.
I hope this is what you are looking for.
    Good luck

  • "Edit Session Facade" in JDeveloper

    Hi,
My session facade bean in TopLink project is working well. I just added a new named query and I would like to edit session facade to expose that method. Then I would need to re-create the DataControl. I did this a couple of times and that was fine. But now it doesnot show up the "Edit Session Facade" window for me to check to include the new method. Is there a way to delete the DataControl to create a new one, or any one knows any suggestion?
    Thank you,

Make sure you added the method to the EJB interface as well.

  • "Edit Task Definition" not working in JDeveloper for Order Booking tutorial

    Hi,
When I click 'Edit Task Definition' in JDeveloper in the BPEL Process Designer, nothing happens. It should display the task definition...
    What am I doing wrong?

I figured out the issue with my installation of the SOA demo. I had originally unzipped the demo to a folder in the 'My Documents' directory and had been accessing the files for the demo directly from this location. After I copied the SOADEMO files to the standard location for my other jdeveloper applications (C:\jdeveloper\jdev\mywork) it worked fine.
I think this is related to the standard warnings included in the installation of jdeveloper regarding not having spaces in any of the folder names under which jdeveloper is installed.
Best of luck. Hope this helps.

  • Weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and  UCM 10gR3 code works in Jdeveloper

    Hi All,
We are using weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and UCM 10gR3. Now we want to use Jdeveloper (because we can integrate site studio using plugin) instead of weblogic workshop.
So my question is does the existing code works in Jdeveloper (because it supports Webcenter portal)?.
    Thanks,
    Venkata Sarvabatla

No. Eclipse/Worskhop is the development IDE for WLP. While you can probably edit many of the WLP artifacts in JDeveloper, since they're mostly XML files, JDeveloper won't understand the WLP project structure, understand many of the libraries or know how to deploy to a WLP domain.

  • Cannot create SOA-MDS connection for JDBC driver issue

I am unable to create a SOA-MDS connection in JDeveloper 11.1.1.6. We are using MS SQL Server database and have put the sqljdbc4.jar file into a library in our JDeveloper environments. We can use this to sucessfully create database connections.
However, when we attempt to configure a SOA-MDS connection which uses our DEV_MDS connection (which uses the com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver successfully), we do not see anything in the drop down list for 'Select MDS partition'.
While looking at the Messages, log, we're getting:
WARNING: Error reading db partitions for connection DEV_MDS. Reason: MDS-0003: error connecting to the database
Error during pool creation in Universal Connection Pool Manager MBean
    ...ClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXADataSource
I opened our sqljdbc4.jar file and see both the SQLServerXADataSource.class and SQLServerDriver.class files in there.
So why can JDeveloper load one of them but not the other at runtime? Do I need to add the sqljdbc4.jar to a second location (besides a custom Library) in order for the Universal Connection Pool Manager MBean to load it via JDeveloper?
    Please advise,
    Michael
NOTE: I can manually query the database and see 'soa-infra', 'owsm' and 'obpm' partitions just fine.

    Hi,
Do you use MS SQL Server as your MDS database? Did you create an MDS in it using RCU?
When you created the database connection in JDeveloper could you test it succesfully? Can you connect to it with the Database Navigator?
