  • How to edit published page?

    I created a website using iWeb, published it and now want to edit...but I cannot for the life of me figure out to edit the published page. I can view it...I just can't seem to edit it. Any ideas?

    The only way I know to deal with that problem is to:
    * Go to your published site.
    * Drag images, etc from your published site to iWeb, then use those elements to reconstruct your site.
    * Or, do a screen capture of your site (someone suggested Shift-Command-4; I use Shift-Command-3). Then use an imagine processing problem like Photoshop Lite or perhaps iPhoto to crop out material you don't want. Then paste the remaining image into iWeb. It's not idea, but it might save you a lot to time reconstructing your site.
    * Another tip is to do your text composition in MS Word, then "Save as Webpage". That way, you have a backup copy of material in a .doc file, in addition to what you have saved in our domain file.

  • Custom publishing page layouts have undesirable overlapping effect in edit mode

    I am very new to SharePoint branding.
    I've created several custom page layouts using SPD.  They are used in publishing site collections with basic web part zones in various <div>'s for layout purposes.  The issue I've run into is that while in display mode the pages work fine,
    but in edit mode there is an undesirable overlap that causes the web part editing panel to become obscured or unusable.
    I have ran across a few search hits that seem to dance around this topic, but nothing I've found thus far has truly addressed my issue.  Am I editing the CSS, master page, page layout or something else to ensure the edit mode is functional?
    Thank you all for your time and expertise.

    I have solved my own problem, but felt it might be necessary to document it here for those just starting out.  For a page layout to display properly, at least for me, I had to invoke the corev15.css classes in my <div> tags to convert to table
    elements when switching to Edit mode.   While this is ultimately not my first choice, I was able to add some custom styles in this CSS file to style my div's in a more suitable fashion.
    On a publishing page, you may have code inside your <asp:Content> tag like:
    <div class="welcome welcome-splash">
    <PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel runat="server" CssClass="edit-mode-panel title-edit">
    <SharePointWebControls:TextField runat="server" FieldName="Title"/>
    </PublishingWebControls:EditModePanel>
    </div>
    From here, I had begun to style my <div>'s with inline CSS but it will break in Edit mode. Here's where I realized you needed to keep consistent with the corev15.css. Here's what should follow:
    <div class="ms-table ms-fullWidth">
    <div class="tableCol-75">
    <div class="cell-margin">
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone id="g_E35F979436254554ABCD54B2AD28A4BF" runat="server" title="Header"><ZoneTemplate></ZoneTemplate></WebPartPages:WebPartZone>
    </div>
    <div class="ms-table ms-fullWidth">
    <div class="cell-margin tableCol-50">
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone id="g_A61037130DF64BF09145576D6DB1C679" runat="server" title="Middle Left"><ZoneTemplate></ZoneTemplate></WebPartPages:WebPartZone>
    </div>
    <div class="cell-margin tableCol-50">
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone id="g_F8C0B2FDD77749B3B9274445692F056B" runat="server" title="Middle Right"><ZoneTemplate></ZoneTemplate></WebPartPages:WebPartZone>
    </div>
    </div>
    <div class="cell-margin">
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone id="g_7BBC1C180FD84BF08E9E96ED9C5D2B33" runat="server" title="Bottom"><ZoneTemplate></ZoneTemplate></WebPartPages:WebPartZone>
    </div>
    </div>
    <div class="cell-margin tableCol-25">
    <WebPartPages:WebPartZone id="g_A32DD6684EF447559FF3D6A1539735D4" runat="server" title="Right"><ZoneTemplate></ZoneTemplate></WebPartPages:WebPartZone>
    </div>
    The above code makes a typical 75:25 2-column page with two additional spaces in the left side for extra web parts. I hope by posting this example I can help other young budding SharePoint branding people to get their feet wet. Thank you all for viewing my
    issue and I think this can be marked as closed now.

  • Published page different than edited draft

    OK, this one is very interesting! I've edited the page, it
    looks great in draft form. I publish it and suddenly one of the
    edited parts has a different type style and even an extra word that
    does NOT exist in the edited draft!! How is this
    possible????

    What is the web address of the published site so we can see what you are referring to?
    While waiting for that:
    A common reason why formatting on a published page will not match what you see in iWeb is that objects (pictures, movies, text boxes, etc.) are overlapping. When the web browser goes to try and interpret that overlap the results can vary (this can effect the display of fonts as well).
    Go to the page in question in iWeb and click on 1 object. Go to Edit > Select All.
    You will see all the objects on the page with their boundaries activated. Move any items that are overlapping so they have their own space around them.

  • SP2013: How do I disable auto spell check on apppart when editing a publishing page?

     Each time I "checked in" a page it was common to receive a dialog reporting a huge number of spelling errors.but there is no error on page...it is taking "Apppart" list items errors and wherever we have that weppart on pages it
    is showing 123/124 spelling error(s) found.
    and i'm unable to remove those errors. Is it defualt sharepoint functionality to get error from webpart data (I think its default functionality)
    or how can i avoide those errors from publishing page?
    Thanks in advance........

    Hi,
    have a look at this post here:

  • After userA check out a page, edit the page and save, Sharepoint prompt userA have checked out the page

    In one of site collection at our SP2013 farm, we have "SharePoint Server Publishing" site feature and "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" site collection feature activated.
    One of user (UserA) create a page in a page library. The new page is marked as "checked out by UserA". It is fine.
    Then UserA open the page -> edit page -> key in something and "save". Then the page prompt him "The file Pages/subfolder/test001.aspx has been modified by i:0#.w|test\userA on 8Aug2014 xx:xx:xx" and ask him to choose "Leave
    this page" or "say at this page".  The date time is exactly the time he was editing the page.
    Whatever he choose will save the page and return to "View" mode (non-edit mode).
    It is not the only problem. When userA want to edit the same page again and save, it prompt him that "The page could not be saved because your changes conflict with recent changes made by another user. If you continue, your changes will be lost."!
    When userA choose continue or "check out". Follow screen show up:
    What can we do? In summary, userA cannot edit a page because userA have checked out! We have tried for different users have exactly same issue.

    We are having the same problem, the one thing we have found is if we use the Save Icon on the top right hand side of the page in the ribbon (next to follow), that Save works just fine.  What is causing the issue is when trying to use the Save Icon on
    the left hand side of the ribbon that has the dropdown options to 'Save', 'Save and Keep Editing' or 'Stop Editing'.  It doesn't matter if you just click on the main Icon or choose any of the dropdown options, they all cause issues with the pages.
    Thoughts?

  • Copy a publishing page from one Web Application to another

    can we copy a publishing page from one web application to another.
    If we download a copy from pages library of one web application and upload it to another library of other Web application.
    Once uploaded it came up with an error "This page is not using a valid page layout.  To correct the problem, edit page settings and select a valid page layout.".

    It seems like the page layout is missing in target location. Check similar thread below to solve the issue

  • Rich Text Editor functionality for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online

    Hi,
    We are having a requirement where we need RTE behavior of SharePoint 2013 Rich Html Field for a custom DIV. The scenario goes like this:
    1. I have a publishing page
    2. I dropped the content editor web part and to that content editor web part I will point to an HTML file that needs to be rendered in that content editor web part
    3. I have one DIV in the above mentioned HTML files and I want that div to be editable and I need to RTE options for that DIV.
    How to accomplish the above behavior?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create html rich text editor for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online.
    You can create your own Rich Text Editor.
    Here are some great blogs for your reference:

  • Version: you are editing the shared version of this page. Not able to edit the page

    Hi,
    I have a sharepoint 2010 publishing site, which i have version upgraded to Sharepoint 2013.
    I have the below features already activated:
    1.Activate office sharepoint publishing infrastructure feature at site collection level.
    2. Activate office sharepoint publishing feature at site level.
    Also, versioning is enabled in the pages - document library settings.
    The page does not seem to be checked-out by anybody else, and I am trying to edit the page using the system account.
    I am not able to modify the page, and the ribbon does not show up.

    Thanks

    This is not an error message but simply letting you know you are making changes to a page that will affect everyone viewing
    the page vs. a personal view.

  • SharePoint 2013 - Missing Publishing Page Ribbon/Tab on custom page layout - Page language="C#" Inherits="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.PublishingLayoutPage,.... VS CodeBehind="BlogDemo.aspx.cs" Inherits="DemoProject.Branding.BlogDemo"

    I created page layouts using Visual Studio 2013 and SharePoint 2013. I added both ASP.NET web controls (e.g. asp:Label, asp:HyperLink) and SharePoint web controls (e.g. SharePointWebControls:UrlField) in a page layout.
    However, when I deployed the solution, I cannot edit all the ASP.NET & SharePoint web controls (column fields from custom content type used for the page layout) except the web part zones.
    Then I found out about inherits property:
    1) if I use the code for the page layout as shown below:
    <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="BlogDemo.aspx.cs"
    Inherits="DemoProject.Branding.BlogDemo" MasterPageFile="/_catalogs/masterpage/DemoProject/DemoMasterPage.master"
    %>
    Result: There is no publishing ribbon/tab. E.g. Edit, Publish..... although both ASP.NET & SharePoint web controls can be displayed on the page layout.
    Screenshot:
    2) if I use the code instead as shown below:
    <%@ Page language="C#" Inherits="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.PublishingLayoutPage,Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing,Version=15.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
    meta:progid="SharePoint.WebPartPage.Document" %>
    Result: Publishing ribbon/tab is available, but ASP.NET web controls won't appear. Only SharePoint web controls appear on the page layout.
    Screenshot:
    I wonder how I can combine both codes to ensure that the page layout can have publishing ribbon/tab and displays both ASP.NET & SharePoint web controls.

    Found a way to solve the issue
    I follow the solution:

  • Cannot edit a page shortly after editing a page

    I am using Contribute CS4. I am able to connect to a site and
    make changes. When I go to edit a page, I see the .lck file created
    on the server. I can publish the change. However, after I publish
    my change, I cannot go back and make further edits w/o waiting for
    several minutes.
    If I act too fast and attempt to edit the same page, the
    previous version (local?) loads in the editor, and no lck file is
    created on the server. In this case, if I attempt to either publish
    or discard the draft, I get Access Denied messages - presumably
    because no lck file exists on the server.
    This action occurs repeatedly and predictably. Besides
    telling me to just sit and wait for five minutes before making
    additional changes, what else can I do to get around this
    issue?

    I've deleted the connection, closed and recreated it. Same
    results.
    I might also point out this issue isn't just related to a
    single site. It happens on the other site I manage through
    Contribute. Both sites also are hosted on windows machines running
    Plesk, if that matters.

  • Editing ColdFusion Pages in Dreamwaever

    I am trying to open, preview and edit CFM pages in DW 5. I have installed ColdFusion Developer editionon my computer, set up a site in DW and configured a local web server as per the DW Developer Center article: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_cf.html.
    The problem is that when I open a ColdFusion page (CFM) and view the design, I get a "generic" looking page with no formatting, images, styles etc. I've gone through the process several times but to no avail. It's probably something simple that I've omitted. Any ideas?

    PMEhrenberg,
    Welcome to the discussions.
    You have discovered a glaring shortcoming of the iWeb application--the non-ability to import html into the program.
    iWeb is a generator that produces html upon publishing; everything the application draws upon to create html for your site is stored in a single file, Domain. This file lives in your computer here.
    If this file is lost, as in your case, or corrupted, your ability to access and edit the sites that it contained is also lost. You cannot bring files back down from a server or folder into iWeb. Sorry for the bad news.
    You will need to re-create your site. Copy and paste where possible from rendered pages in a browser, and consider linking back to the existing site from the new, as you rebuild. From now on, backup this file frequently using Varkgirl's automator application, free for download here.

  • Can't edit home page

    When I select "edit page" on the home page I get an error message (in both CS3 and CS5; I just upgraded because I thought the problem might lie with an incompatibilty with the old version). I have no problems with any of the other pages on this web site. There's no open draft of the page at the time. Help!?!

    Thanks for trying, but that doesn't work.
    I'm the administrator, owner, and sole user. When I click on "administer websites - manage sent drafts" there are no entries in the manage sent drafts box. And I can't "send for edit" or "send for review" because I have to get a successful response when I click on "edit this page", and that's where the trouble originates.
    I've used "save as" to save the page with another name and managed to edit it, but then I can't save it under the "proper" name (which would be index.htm) because I get an error message saying that file name already exists, and I'm not given an option to replace/rewrite the existing file. So I've been unable to publish the new page to the server so that it can see it with my browser. I still get the old version with the browser.
    I can't even delete the page (in order to replace it with the new one) because I get that same message error "You can't edit this page because  is editing it".
    I'm now trying to manage page expiry to see if I can get rid of the original page that way...
    Any other suggestions will be most welcome!
