Editing server-side Sieve via IMAP... does Messaging Server support RFC 5804?

The Sieve Addon for Thunderird https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/sieve/ (https://github.com/thsmi/sieve) mentions the sieve management protocol (RFC 5804) accessible over IMAP. I did not find any mention of this on the CommSuite Wiki, so I guess it is not supported at the moment... or just not published?
Apparently, most users of this addon use it in conjunction with Dovecot server which does support Sieve server-side filtering, and/or with projects like this to translate between client-side Mozilla filters and server-side Sieve filters: Mozilla filter to sieve converter | Free Communications software downloads at SourceForge.net
I am not sure yet if there is an addon to automatically replicate client-side rules onto the server-side rules as the users edit them in their GUI... but this would be the next logical step

Hello, thanks for the update despite the lack of forbidden details.. at least, the feature is in the pipeline
Could you please clarify: did I understand correctly that the managesieve RFC and implementation by the Messaging Server are not compatible with the user's Sieve rules as maintained by Convergence (as of today)? I did not really dig deep into the RFC definition, but does it define that the IMAP server maintains one big script only (and not something like an IMAP mailbox with numerous small scripts, possibly ordered by some attribute)?
Conversely, would the Messaging Server be able to use large singular sieve scripts pushed by an email client, and would these be useless or invisible to Convergence client?
Thanks.

  • When will Directory Server support RFC 4511?

I would like to know when Sun plans to support the new LDAP v3 suite of RFCs, including RFC 4511?

    Thanks Ludovic.
So if a client wants to support the password policies that are currently implemented on Directory Server 5.2, and also the policies that will be implemented in 6.0, then the client needs to support both the "vchu" and "behera" Internet Drafts, correct? Just to make sure I understand the "vchu" draft, the client is NOT required to send a password policy request control to the server in order to get password policy information returned, correct? ALL the policy information comes either in the error string associated with the LDAPResult OR in the 2 new controls defined in "vchu" (for expiring and already-expired passwords). Is all that correct?
Is that the extent of what the client would need to do for support of 5.2? Or are there other password policy issues the client would need to code for in addition to what's in "vchu"?
Also, does the "behera" draft define the extent of Directory Server 6.0 support for password policies, or will there be additional things the client will have to be aware of and code for?
    Thanks,
    gil
I'm also confused about the relationship between the shadowAccount object class attributes defined in RFC 2307 vs. the password policy supported by Directory Server 5.2 (and 6.0). Are these attributes needed in support of either the "old" or the "new" password policies? Are they obsoleted by either password policy? Do the shadowAccount and password policy attributes operate independently from each other? If so, what do the shadowAccount attributes do for you that the password policy attributes don't? I'm having a hard time sorting out whether I need both types of attributes or only one...
    Thanks,
    gil

  • Import Email to Server via IMAP - time out

    Hello,
I set up OSX Maverick Server 3.1.2. Everything works quite nicely.
I am having a client which uses the most recent mail.app on OSX Maverick.
This client is connected to the OSX Server which is in the same Gigbit Network.
Now I would like to copy all my emails from my previous account which are stored in my mail.app via IMAP to my OSX Server account.
When I copy the files the copy process ends and the error message is (e.g.):
133 messages could not be moved to the mailbox “Sent — OSX Server”
The connection to the server “server.mydomain.com” on port 143 timed out.
Can someone point me into the right direction on where I should look for a solution?
Help would be very much appreciated!
    Kind Regards, Chris

Try breaking the task up into smaller pieces. Either all the messages will be imported, or you'll isolate one (or more) that's causing the failure.

  • Multiple gmail accounts in mail.app via IMAP - how to delete messages

multiple gmail accounts in mail.app via IMAP - how to delete messages so that they are not stored on gmail and not in All Mail therefore either.
i know that dragging messages to the GMail.Trash folder deletes it in Gmail, but doing that for multiple accounts is a hassle!
anybody else struggle with this, solved it?

i have still not figured out a solution to this. very painful - the fact that messages iwill not be using ever again and with large attachments, just sit there in all mails and slow down mail.app for me, fill up search results with stuff i don't want to see and fill up space on the HDD. the attachments as a result often are stored 3-4 times on the HDD!
some geek here must have solved it - come on!

  • I cannot copy and paste details from my bank statement into a word document, without the formatting changing.I have a message in my Error console which reads: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

Since transferring data from my desktop to my laptop, i am now having problems copying and pasting details from my bank website in to a word document, the formatting is all over the place. This didnt happen before, when i pasted the details in to the word document the formatting was exactly the same as on the webpage. If I use internet explorer, I dont have this problem, so, I can only assume it has something to do with Firefox. I have checked the "Error console" and I am receiving this message: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555.

  • Does the Messages server support transports?

Just curious, but does the built in Messages (Jabber) server support Jabber transports? These are the gateways that allow a Jabber account to act as a proxy for Windows Live Messenger, ICQ and other protocols.
The reason I ask is that I'm currently using OpenFire to run an MSN gateway, as it allows me to effectively use Messages as an MSN/Live Messenger client. While there's nothing wrong with OpenFire, I'm concidering using OS X server for managing a set of machines and I figure it's better to avoid installing anything OS X Server might already povide

  • Why does Messages still send my txt via SMS when I have the "send as SMS" option turned off?

Why does Messages still send my txt via SMS when I have the "send as SMS" option turned off?

I haven't missed any point, but you don't get it.
If people take "Send as SMS" being turned off as the iPhone shoiuld not be sending SMS messages without reading this text that is included below the option:
Send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable. Carrier messaging rates may apply.
    They are idiots.
But you're saying you have this other piece of information that tells you that this option only applies to two iphones exchanging txt.  Where did you obtain such information?
    Copied from my previous post.
Under the Send as SMS option, the following is available:
Send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable. Carrier messaging rates may apply.
You should check available text below an option such as this so you know what it does.

  • Does messaging server support java?

    Hi,
Anyone know that does the messaging server bundle's web server support Java? Can I run jsp on that web server?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Which "webserver" are you referring to?
The mshttpd daemon that provides webmail access (messenger express) is not a full-blown webserver software. It is only designed to provide access to store information. It will not run random java files or whatever.
The webserver that you can use for UWC IS a full blown webserver, with the UWC instance being one container - so as to it's capabilities, you should look up the webserver 6 documentation on docs.sun.com.
    Regards,
    Shane.

_*Apple Mail and GoogleMail via IMAP*_
As posts concerning the setup of Apple Mail for GoogleMail IMAP access become more frequent on Apple Discussions, I decided to collect some of the most asked-for info in one place. The following hints are intended to provide enough info for anyone who wants to get started with Google Mail IMAP and Mail.app.
As you might have noticed already, GoogleMail behaves differently from other IMAP accounts in some respects. One of the underlying reasons is its use of labels instead of folders (i.e. instead of moving messages to different folders – like e.g. Private and Work – in order to establish some order, rather there are labels tagged to the messages). Because of this a particular setup of Apple’s Mail client is required.
    *Activating IMAP for Google Mail*
If you haven’t activated access via IMAP for Google Mail already, follow the instructions given by Google [here|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77695&topic=13294]. It boils down to this:
    1) Sign in to Gmail.
    2) Click "Settings" at the top of any Gmail page,
    3) click "Forwarding and POP/IMAP",
    4) select "Enable IMAP".
    5) Click "Save Changes".
*Creating a new account in Apple Mail*
To add a Google Mail IMAP account in Mail.app, go to File > Add Account. A wizard will open which prompts you to insert your Name, the eMail-address of the new account and the password. Don’t use the option for automatic configuration if it’s available. Info on what to type into the different fields can be obtained from Google [here|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78799&topic=12814]. The most important are:
    1) Incoming Server: imap.gmail.com, port 993 (using SSL)
    2) Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com, port 465 or 587 (using SSL)
    3) Your account name is your full email address including "@gmail.com" (without the quotation marks)
*Configuring the Google Mail account in Apple Mail*
After you have added your Google Mail IMAP account to Mail.app, you’ll find a section for Google Mail in Mail.app’s sidebar with subfolders like "All Mail" (which has in turn several subfolders) and folders for each label you created with GoogleMail. Now you have to configure the account properly. Despite what [Google recommends|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78892&topic=1281 4], I found the following settings to work best for me.
In the sidebar, navigate to the subfolders Trash/Sent/Drafts/Junk of "Google Mail" (the one with the white folder icon instead of a blue one) in turn and go to "Mailbox" menu > "Use this mailbox for..." > Trash/Sent/Drafts/Junk respectively. Afterwards these folders show up as subfolders to the main Trash/Sent/Drafts/Junk folders in the sidebar (and at the same time disappear from the GMail section). Among others this step is necessary because of Google Mail’s implementation of labels. E.g., as Google states [here|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78892&topic=12814]:
Messages that are deleted from an IMAP folder (...) only have that label removed and still exist in All Mail
So if you want to delete a message you have to set the option to "Use this mailbox for… Trash" as described above. Same applies to sent messages etc.
Furthermore, make sure every checkbox in Mail's Preferences > Accounts > GoogleMail > Behavior is checked . (Some will already and automatically be checked when you apply the option "Use this mailbox for..." as described above).
    *Some basic troubleshooting tips*
    1) If your counter for unread messages in Mail.app doesn’t refresh properly, go to "Mailbox" menu > "Sync all accounts".
    2) If you have set up a Smart Mailbox in Mail e.g. for unread messages and every unread message of Google Mail shows up twice, then add the criterion "Message is not in mailbox" > "All Mail", and set the requirement for messages to comply with ALL conditions (instead of ANY). This is necessary because of every message there is a copy stored in All Mail.
I hope these info will be regarded as helpful by anyone who tries to get started with Google Mail and experiences some problems on the way.
The links given were accessible as of September, 3rd, 2008. The setup was tested on a MacBook with OS X 10.5.4 Leopard and Mail 3.4 (928/928.1).

  • Does lion server support a single email address across multiple devices??

I am looking to move from an outdated Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to OS X Lion Server but I am unsure as to how Lion will handle email. I do not want to spend money on a new windows server if I can get a Mac Mini Server to do the job. I am a very small business with a number of email accounts for a couple employees and need access to email and calendar from both the office iMac's and my Macbook Pro when on the road. My IT guy says I need Exchange but he's been off base on a few other items recently and I wanted to check with other sources.
I have 2 new iMac's, a MacBook Pro, an iPad1 and and iPhone4 on the mac side of things and 2 windows computers running XP. I would get rid of the windows computers completely if not for my CAD program which runs best not in a virtual machine mode.
How well will email and calendar entries sync across devices?

I have a very similar setup at my office. Lion Server will push email, calandar, contacts to all of your apple product with out a hitch.
As far the Windows XP machines, you can access email over IMAP with Thunderbird, and calandars via sunbird or the built in web app.
I would ditch the exchange server move to Mac OS X Server, and never look back.
    God Luck!
PS. All of your devices will be in sync all the time.
    Shore answer:
Does lion server support a single email address across multiple devices??
    Yes.

  • Can I setup Mail app to access Yahoo mail via IMAP?

Can I setup Mail app to access Yahoo mail via IMAP? I think that my iPhone is doing this, but what about the Apple Mail app on my Mac? I don't like the fact that the Mac downloads the e-mail messages and removes them from the server, therefore making them inaccessible from Yahoo's online mail or my iPhone.
I'd like to get to work just like my Mobile Me e-mail... Any thoughts?

There is an option in the 'Advanced' section of the account setup to delete the messages from the server after a specified period rather than immediately on download; you could leave them for a week or whatever, then they will still be there when the iPhone accesses them.
