Effect rack presets recordable in favourites

It would be very helpful to be able to record as a favourite the instantiation and application of a rack effect preset.
The reason is that a user may audition a series of effects in the rack, before wishing to apply them as a batch process to multiple files.
Using the same rack preset in a favourite would be much easier than the current method of reopening the effects one by one in the course of recording a favourite.

Is there a way to have effects individual windows open automatically when applying an effects rack preset?
I find it most frustrating when mastering for broadcast, where i use an EQ, Compressor, Exciter, Limiter, WLM & PAZ meter in a preset with (to quickly add them all to the rack with a couple clicks) that i have to open each effect from the rack individually, and drag every effect window as they open on top of each other.
Is there a way to change this i'm not aware of? I have the option "Open effects settings when adding effects to the effects rack" selected in preferences.

The information about how to do this is here: Restoring the default settings for Audition CS6. If you are using a later version you may have to update the number at the end of the path to find the correct folder, but that should be all you need to do, and the correct one should be obvious by browsing.

I have created some presets on the effects rack and I want to export them to another computer. I'm on a Mac right now and can't find how to do it. I've managed to export Premiere Pro Presets that I've created in separate files.

I do a lot of work in Multitrack and save many Effects Rack presets. The window for the drop-down menu for these presets is tiny! Because the view of the window is not scalable (I can't make the stupid thing any wider) I have to use an annoying type of short-hand typing to name the Effects Presets I am saving. I have to make the preset name fit in the window or else it cannot be read fully when opening the drop-down menu. In fact, the window width is so short that many of the native Audition presets cannot be read.
This has been an issue since day one of Cool Edit. Please fix this!

Soundbooth CS5: Effects and/or rack presets for 5.1 audio?

Are there any Soundbooth CS5 effects and/or rack presets (either Adobe or third-party) for working with 5.1 audio? I have effects and presets for both mono and stereo, but none show up for 5.1 files.

I understand, but at least with stereo files I can add an EQ, compressor, etc. that applies to all (both) channels. Is there not a similar capability for 5.1 files? I don't so much need per-channel editing (I can always split the channels out to separate files in that case), but basic EQ/compression is really what I'm looking for.

Is this me or a bug? Loading disabled effects rack wrecks audio!

Background:
I am NOT an audio pro, but am an experienced tech guy and have used Adobe suite products for many years.
Just loaded up CS6, including all updates, on a new decked-out Win7 computer (32G RAM, 12 core CPU, CUDA board, etc).
I have a clip (96hHz 32 bit) I'm using to learn the workflow I will use for analog->digital conversion...
There is a musical section in the middle that sounds truly awful with my effects rack in place. But then I noticed I could not get back to the original...
Symptom
If I load the audio clip, all is well -- plays as expected.
If I load my Effects Rack, with all effects preset to be disabled, the sound is immediately and obviously messed up.
Turning the effects on/off does not fix the problem.
Questions
- Is there any reason a set of disabled effects might still impact the audio? If so, where do I find such settings?
- Is this a likely bug?
- Anyone else ever encountered anything like this?

NAILED IT.
The following is 100% repeatable for me. Can anyone else replicate this?
1) Choose 10-20 seconds of music, with a bit of silence before or after (as an audible marker), stereo, 32 bit, 96k -- or even 44.1k although the problem is not as pronounced in 44.1k (see below)
2) set up to play as a loop
3) load any of the following into your effects rack. Loading more than one just makes it more obvious.
a) Adaptive Noise Reduction, default settings, then turn ON high quality and set FFT size to 16384. (8192 is sufficient for 96k, but at 44.1k I need 16384) [This one produces horrifyingly awful results]
b) Auto Click Removal, default settings, then Threshold 1, Complexity 100 (This one only causes trouble on 96k files)
c) Auto Phase Correction, default settings, then Analysis Size 4k, Time Resolution 1.0 msec, Response Ultra Slow
4) BE SURE the effect is turned OFF (but leave the rack on)... or turn the whole rack off. The effect SHOULD do nothing at all.
Now play the loop a few times.
Notice the following anomalies:
A) The cursor tracks (sometimes jumpily) in real time, but the sound is much slower. With Adaptive Noise Reduction @ FFT=16384, I can't really tell it is music... running about 1/10 speed or something
B) It is as if the on/off switch for the effect does nothing to disable the effect during playback
C) Your CPU will likely be idling. Whatever is slowing this down is NOT a bunch of processing, but some other kind of overhead/bug
D) In some situations, I even see the Levels Meter stop moving, as if there weren't enough spare cycles to update it.
Discussion
I wonder how many effects are "always active" like this during playback? Right now, I feel I cannot trust this engine to give me reliable feedback for my settings. My suspicion: most if not all effects are at least partly active for playback, even if turned off, at least with respect to the underlying engine.
It is claimed some of these effects can have performance issues depending on the platform. My platform has far more capacity and speed than required, yet still there are issues. This tells me I cannot trust my ears to tell me if a particular effect and setting is giving me poor results... or if it is just this hidden engine bug causing the sound to degrade. (Note: if I use all three effects with settings as shown, my CPU is running at 11 percent. Not even enough to get the fan going! Definitely not system-limited.)
If there IS some kind of built-in engine limitation relating to these kinds of problems, I highly recommend that Adobe implement a visual marker to indicate that the effects rack is unable to do its thing in real-time, thus what I am hearing is not an accurate representation of the effects. (However, even if so, I would expect that disabled-effects should not contribute to any performance problem.)
I sure hope this is enough so others can replicate the problem!

Applying multiple stereo rack presets?

I'm using soundbooth for the first time and can't figure out how to apply more than one of the stereo rack presets at the same time. I have a piece of audio that I want to apply both the remove 60 cycle hum and remove hiss presets to, but whenever I select one, it removes the other. I can stack other effects in the rack, but the stereo preset fixes don't appear on the list. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

The Rack presets can't be applied simultaneously - each one is a specific, particular configuration of effects. You could manually add the effects you want from one to the rack preset of another, or more simply, just apply the different rack presets one at a time. In the case you mention, the end results should be the same. Running a hiss reduction prior to a 60hz hum removal shouldn't interfere or cause unexpected behavior.

Animation presets in After Effects using the Effects & Presets panel.
I use After Effects CS6 and try to make a animation preset and get this message:
After Effects warning: Adobe Bridge is not installed. Please download and install it to use this feature.
I am new to After Effects, but does this mean, that I have to purchase Bridge to use any animation presets ?
Are there no built in Animation Presets in the After Effects CS6 ?
I have ticked in the Show Animation Presets, but I still can not find any.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you have not installed Bridge or it is out of date, you can find animation presets in the Effects and Presets panel. Just search snow there and you'll find:
By the way, any animation presets you create will be also available here if you store them in the default directory. Custom animation presets will not have a preview mode in Bridge. In my entire 20 years of using AE I probably have browsed animation presets about 5 times using Bridge. I know some prefer that method, but I find the Effects & presets panel much more useful.

HowTo? learn about converting from Audition 1.0 scripts to "Effects Rack" + Batch?

Rusty with CoolEdit / Audtion 1.0. Newbie with CS6 trial.
I've got a lot of human speech tracks to clean up. Previously, I used the scripting capability of Audition 1.0 with the following "chain of effects":
Convert to mono + 22050 hz
Normalize to 90%
ClickFix plug-in
Noise reduction
Truncate long silences
Amplitude + Dynamics processing to "Level"
Re-normalize to 90%
Add 2 sec of silence at end
Output as 24kbps / 22050 .mp3
My understanding is that Audition CS6 stopped supporting "scripts" several versions back. Bummer. My speculation is that the equivalent can be accomplished with the "Effects Rack" + "Batch Process". Or not?
I'd appreciate a link to a tutorial or article that discusses "best practices" to accomplish the equivalent of "Scripts".

Hmmmm ... it may be that my best "path forward" is to continue with AA1 --> AA3 free upgrade. I really, really like being able to use some fairly elaborate scripts to accomplish "chain of effects" on hundreds of human speech files.
However, I am really interested in "Adaptive Noise Reduction". Apparently it samples the first 2 to 5+ seconds of the track, and builds an on-the-fly.fft NR profile for that specific track. So far, for me it sometimes works, and sometimes fails so that the result sounds worse than the noisy original. Bummer. Could be newbie PEBKAC as I wrestle with the learning curve.
WIthin the CS6 trial, I may attempt a "hold your nose workaround" combining AA3 scripting for about 100+ human speech files :
Convert to mono 22050 .wav's
Normalize
ClickFix
Then "hand off" the batch to CS6-trial for
Dehummer
Adaptive NR (if I can get it to work well consistently)
Truncate long silenses
Dynamic leveling / comprand
Re-normalize (which doesn't seem to be available as an effect)
Add silence (if available)
Output as 24kbps .mp3
Or it may be that CS6 batch/scripting means I'd have to "hand off" .wav results from CS6 back to AA3. Seems pretty lame.

Keyboard shortcut to place cursor in Effects and Presets search box?

Hi!
Is there is a keyboard shortcut that will place the cursor in the search box of the Effects and Presets panel? Ctrl + 5 activates the panel, but I still need to click to get the cursor into the search box and be able to type my search. I have RSI and am trying to learn to use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible. My system is AE CS6 on Windows. I've searched the help reference on keyboard shortcuts and haven't been able to find anything.

Too funny...I just found my own two-year-old question while Googling to find the solution (again). Is there a shortcut (or a way to create one) that will let me place the cursor in the search box of the effects and presets panel? I'm now on CC 2014, and still hate having to reach for my mouse every time I use the search. I can't believe I'm the only person who would love this shortcut...

Some are free and some are for purchase.
You cant buy presets. Maybe you can swap them with someone but I dont know how.

After Effects cc2014 presets to early version

I made presets in AE СС2014 in Windows. I sent them to a friend. He have AE CS5 and Mac OS. He place them to Applications/Adobe After Effects CS5/Presets and to Documents/Adobe/After Effects CC.
Reload AE and did not see the presets in the panel Effects&Presets->Animation Presets->Presets... or in Effects&Presets->Animation Presets->User Presets...
Is it impossible to open the presets in earlier versions? And if on the Mac OS will be installed СС2014 everything will be okay?

Animation presets are not backwards-compatible. You can't use an animation preset created with a new version of After Effects in an old version of After Effects.

A-B entire Effects Rack with one click

Is there a way to turn all effects in a session off and on with one click? I'd like to be able to compare what I've done, to where I started, but cannot find a single click option to achieve this.

You can turn the whole Effects Rack on and off on a single track using the Switch icon to the right of the fx button in the track header. However you cannot turn off all the Effects Racks across all tracks at once in your Multitrack session.

Rack effects : Rack slot could show preset name (e.g. 'Delay : Rockabilly')

It's great that you can name rack effect combinations at the top...
It would also be useful if the rack slots could show the preset name, if one has been selected e.g.
Delay : Rockabilly
Flanger : Too Many Pills
a modified preset could be shown with an asterisk:
Delay : Rockabilly*

Trying to load guitar effects template. says record drive not found.

hi.
i'm trying to load the guitar effects template, but when I click on the record button, I get a message that record drive/partition MPC 2 not found. and then it defaults to the finder and tries to find this file or partition or whatever it is. What's going on here? how can I find this mpc 2, or else reconfigure to bypass it.
