[EJB:010142] error for cascade-delete

Hi,
I'm getting [EJB:010142] error (Instance of EJB <relatedEJB> with primary key <pk> does not exist) while trying to implement a straight-forward cascade-delete option in ejb-jar.xml for a one-to-many relationship using EJB 2.1.
While the cascade-delete works well for a one-to-one relationship, it is throwing this error for one-to-many relationship.
DB used is Oracle 10g XE. Server is Weblogic 9.2 MP4.
Given below the exact error:
javax.ejb.EJBException: EJB Exception:: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: [EJB:010142]Instance of EJB 'LineItem' with primary key 'li8' does not exist.

While I'm able to deploy without the CMP 1-1 relationship, the moment I introduce the 1-1 relationship, I get this error. Database used is Oracle 10g XE.
I have been battling this error for more than a day now. Kindly help me fix this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi,
I was able to figure out the root cause. I was using the primitive data type "int" for primary key and foreign key for one of the beans in the relationship. After I changed it to "Integer" wrapper type, the issue got resolved.

  • Disk Utility reports a block count error for a deleted file?

I carry out a regular scan of the hard drive and on occasions disk utility reports that a file has a bad block count. It is usually a large file like a CR2 or TIFF and is also one which has been deleted? Not only put in the trash but emptied the trash as well.
The only other thing of note, which I havn't checked if it is relevent to my problem, is on occasion when I go to empty the trash it reports it can't be fully emptied as one of the files is still in use, even though it isn't? If I use secure empty trash it dletes the file.
    In case its relevent:
I use Canon's DPP & ACR for CR2 files and PS CS6/CC for TIFF's. I also delete TIFFS from within Bridge CS6/CC.
Both Disk Utility and Drive Genius report the SMART status as being OK.

Hi Hollie, and welcome to the forums!

  • Master detail form - Cascade Delete gives error

I am using 3.0.9.8.2 and have made a master detail form which works fine except for cascade delete. Insert and update works well, but I have to delete the child rows first to be able to delete the parent.
"Cascade Delete Detail Rows on Master Delete" is checked.
Error situation 1 (where the master just has one child row (number of detail rows to be displayed = 2)):
When trying master action=delete I get:
Error: No conversion performed for type INTEGER, value . (WWC-49102)
This happens whatever is chosen from the detail action drop down list during the attempted delete.
Error situation 2 (where the master has two child rows (number of detail rows to be displayed = 2)):
When trying master action=delete I get:
Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-02292: integrity constraint (MILLS_PORTAL.TEX_ACCOUNTS_FK) violated - child record found (WWV-16016)
This also happens whatever is chosen from the detail action drop down list.

Sorry to say, but this is a bug which will get fixed in the forth coming releases.
Till then, there are 2 ways to avoid this problem:-
1> The change the foreign key in the detail table to have an ON DELETE CASCADE clause.
2> (Though not desirable, but still as a workaround)- Drop the foreign key constraint from the detail table.

  • Problem with cascade delete in CMP one-to-one relationship

I am not able to cascade delete for one-to-one relationship. Even though relationship seems to be setup correctly, record from the second table is not deleted.
Following is the structure of tables i am using:
    First Table(vcc_lrmc) -- LRMCBean
lrmc_id pk (Bean field is id)
    lrmc_dtl_id (Bean field islrmcDtlId)
    Second Table (vcc_lrmc_dtl) -- LRMCDetailBean

Is it happening because of this bug.
Cannot create a 1:1 bi-directional CMR for entity beans when database tables are reverse engineered. (2447364)
Anyone, any idea on this ?

  • Why lock-order can use in cascade delete?

    Hi.
    http://edocs.beasys.com/wls/docs81/ejb/DDreference-cmp-jar.html#1113798
    #Function
#Use this flag to specify the database locking order of an entity bean
#when a transaction involves multiple beans and exclusive concurrency.
#The bean with lowest number is locked first.
#This flag should only be used to prevent a deadlock situation and,
    currently,
#only applies when a transaction performs cascade deletes.
#This flag is only used for cascade delete currently.
Why lock-order can use only cascade deletes sisuation?
This is fake fuction ins't it....
    Makoto Shibata

I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by 'fake function', but
as I recall, the reason why this feature works for cascade delete is because
the feature was specifically introduced because deadlocks were detected
when using cascade delete in heavily concurrent environments.

  • Cascade or delete in database server, why if my EJB do it for me??

    Hi,
I am in design phase of a database for my j2EE application. In the database desing i have some relationships entities, that have foreign keys. I have several options about foreign keys in the relationships, cascade deletes, restrict .... all in my database server.
But, when i am reading the referencial integrity of the entity EJBs CMP relationships, the entity beans make the cascade deletes automaticaly for maintain the relationsships.
Need i make my relationships in my database server with cascade delete options or leave it for my application server???
Another one, if i make relationships in my database server, why i need do it in my entity beans???
tanks, sorry for my poor english

    Hi Markus,
Tanks for your answer, if this tip only for entity beans with CMP???
For example, if i have some entity beans, one with CMP and other with JDO, or for example, an entity beans that use CMP and JDO for access to few tables (i dont know that it is possible or it a good design), how can i design the relationships update/delete cascades in my database server, all entity beans persistence types support his referencial integrity ?? if this if true i think that i forget the relationships updates/deletes cascades in my database server.
At this moment, i dont know what type of persistence i will use in my application server. I dont undertand yet wath approach i must follow, i design my database and after design my entity beans over this database or i must foget my database and beging with entity beans design first .... i have a big problem, i need read a lot of more.
    Something for help me???
    Very, very thanks

  • Modify constraint for "on delete cascade"

    hello all,
i have a table with a foriegn key to another table. this constraint define no action on delete on create time. but i want to modify this constraint for "on delete cascade" now. i entered following sql but get an error. how can help me?

    references TBL2 on delete cascade);
    alter table TBL1 modify(constraint TBL1_FK foreign key(GET_NO)

    ERROR at line 1:

  • Db-cascade-delete for other databases than Oracle?

I have two entity beans with a one to many relationship. The database designers have implemented a cascading delete between the two tables for the entity beans. How should the deployment descriptors be written for this to work properly? From what I understand I will need to use the <cascade-delete /> tag in ejb-jar.xml and <db-cascade-delete /> in weblogic-cmp-jar.xml. However this document http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ejb/entity.html states that <db-cascade-delete /> only works for Oracle, and I'm using DB2. Does this mean that I have to remove the cascading delete in the database and only enable it in ejb-jar.xml, or will <db-cascade-delete /> work for other databases than Oracle?
    /Björn

To get the certified answer I'd ask a tech support rep. Unofficially, if DB2 supports cascade delete then I would expect that the EJB container will work with that. There are issues surrounding certification of features against specific databases and I'm not up on all of these so I'd check with support.

  • Master/Details tables with CASCADE delete giving "table mutating" error

    Hi,
I have two tables in a master/details configuration (table 1 is "master", table 2 is "details").
The details has a FK contraint relation to the master with a CASCADE delete (so when the master is deleted, all associated details are deleted).
The master table has a column "last_updated_datetime" which is updated by a master table update trigger whenever most (excluding the last_updated_datetime column) columns are updated.
The details table has an update trigger which also updates the master table's last_updated_datetime column (whenever a detail row is changed).
The details table also has a delete trigger which also updated the master table's last_updated_datetime column (whenever a detail row is deleted).
The problem I have is: When the master record is deleted, which cascade deletes the details record(s), the delete trigger on the details table throws a "table is mutating" error.
I understand that the "mutating" error is "correct" because the master record is being deleted.
But is there some way I can get around this problem (for example, having the details table delete trigger not update the master table last_updated_datetime) when it's this cascade delete?
    Thanks for your help!

    Please help
    Regards,

It looks you try to delete the sales order line item and you get this error message.
Try to put reason for rejection for the line item and save the order. This is equal to deleting the line item.
You can also refer the OSS note 14097 - Order item cannot be deleted/overwritten for further information.

  • Let the database doing cascade deletion for privateOwned relationship

    Hi,
I have two tables: parent, child. I mapped the parent to child as a one-many private owned relationship. The child table have a foreign key reference back to parent table. The constraint is like this
    alter table child add constraint FK_CONSTRAINT foreign key (parentid) reference parent (parentid) on delete cascade;
I would the cascade deletion is done by database (as it is "on delete cascade" in the constraint) rather by the toplink. (This is exactly what you will do when use JDBC. another reason is that if I let the TopLink do the cascade deletion, I got a deadlock! If I remove the cascade deletion from topLink, I do not have the deadlock).
Is there anyway I can turn off the cascade deletion from topLink, but at the same side keep the private owned relationship(because it is indeed privately owned)?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    jason

Setting a no-op sql solves the cascade deletion problem. However, if I really want to remove a child from the parently, I ends up using the same no-op sql. I can not delete child independently.

  • Problem in cascade-delete

I've using cascade delete for delete rows from two entity beans.......
but my problem is that if I'm doing it from ejb side...i.e. setting "fk_constraint" to false, and setting cascade-delete in ejb-jar.xml (& not in database), then its working fine....
but if I remove these tags from the ejb-jar and in the database, specify foreign key and ON DELETE CASCADE, then its not working....it is giving the error...
"can't add or update a child row...foreign key constraint fails".....
I've read somewhere that this cascade delete option should be specified either on the ejb side or on the db side..and not on both the sides......but in run-time only ejb side is working...
Plz. help me out coz I want the deletion from db side...as thr are some other tables not used in ejb but dependant on the one used in the ejb side.

I think that you must specify <cascade-delete/> tag in ejb-jar.xml ONLY. But not in database.
