Ejb 3.0 createNativeQuery with resultClass

As suggested by Shay Shmeltzer on the jdev forum, I post this question on the toplink forum.
I am developing an application with jsf+ejb. I need to create a search form with a complex query, so I think I need to use a native query with entity manager’s createNativeQuery method. The query execution should then populate a List<ScrSoggElenco> variable, where ScrSoggElenco is the class I use as ‘data type hint’ for the table in which the query results are shown.
I am trying to do this by using the
createNativeQuery(String sqlString, Class resultClass)
method.
My code is like this
Query q = em.createNativeQuery(nativeQuery,ScrSoggElenco.class);
List<ScrSoggElenco> res = q.getResultList();
But q.getResultList() throws an exception:
javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Error getting property 'soggetti' from bean of type view.backing.ScrElencoSogg: javax.ejb.EJBException: Exception [TOPLINK-6007] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2006.8 (Build 060829)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.QueryException
Exception Description: Missing descriptor for [class model.ScrSoggElenco].
Query: ReadAllQuery(model.ScrSoggElenco); nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-6007] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2006.8 (Build 060829)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.QueryException
Exception Description: Missing descriptor for [class model.ScrSoggElenco].
Query: ReadAllQuery(model.ScrSoggElenco)
at com.sun.faces.el.ValueBindingImpl.getValue(ValueBindingImpl.java:190)
at com.sun.faces.el.ValueBindingImpl.getValue(ValueBindingImpl.java:143)
It seems it looks for a descriptor of class model.ScrSoggElenco, I don’t know where and how to specify such descriptor.
I tried also a simpler example, with a simpler query and a simple ‘String’ class in place of ScrSoggElenco, but I got the same exception: Missing descriptor for [class java.lang.String] .
Thanks in advance, Mauro

At this point I have to post the full code of my ejb method.
You can see my query is quite complex to be written with ejbql, maybe the most difficult point is how to calculate the age of the person:
floor(months_between(sysdate,SO_SOGGETTO.DATA_NASCITA)/12) eta
how do you express this with ejbql?
I have ‘solved’ the problem with a loop that transforms each object array in an instance of ScrSoggElenco (yes, ScrSoggElenco is an arbitrary class, not a mapped entity). Of course I would like to find a more direct statement to do this.
Thanks, Mauro

    Chris,
Perhaps you should be checking if the user you wish to deploy
EJBs to has at least JAVAUSERPRIV.
    As SYSTEM
    grant JAVAUSERPRIV to <user>;
    Good luck

  • EJB doesn’t respond with BPEL running on the same remote server

    To all,
I have a BPEL transformation (XSL) calling a remote EJB. It worked with the BPEL process running on the BPEL Designer or in the local host. However if I deploy and run the same BPEL process to the remote server (i.e. the EJB and the BPEL reside in the same server), the EJB doesn’t seem to respond. The process runs fine but just does have the values from the EJB. Where should I look and debug this problem?
Here is some more information about the EJB: I have the XSL calls a User Defined Extension component. This component calls a Java utility program in turn calls an EJB client (i.e. Business Delegate). The EJB client calls a Session bean (Session Façade) in turn calls two Entity beans. I packaged the codes in two jars: the EJB and the EJB client in one jar and Java utility programs in another jar.
I deployed the EJB in EAR using the JDeveloper to the remote BPEL server. I FTPed the two JAR files into <ORACLE_HOME>/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/applib in the remote server. After the deployment, I test the transformation either from BPEL Designer and BPEL local host. They both access the remote EJB successfully. However if I deploy the BPEL process to the remote server and run it from the remote server, the EJB doesn’t seem to respond. All the functions worked correctly except there is no value from the EJB. Any advice will be appreciated.

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • EJB 3.0 Security with ACEGI and not with Container Managed Security

    Hi,
Currently we are using EJB 2.0 in our project, We want to use EJB 3.0
But for security we want to use Spring ACEGI Security and we dont want to use container managed security (No Portability, Difficult, )
ACEGI supports Servlet/JSP security very well (I am able to call isUserInRole(), getUserPrincipal() because ACEGI implements by ServletRequestWrapper in a filter)
But for EJB, it lacks this feature. (There is no standard EJB interceptor API as there is with servlets (using filters), so there's no generic way of modify in the EJB context for the invocation)
Without using container managed security, Is there any way to propogate my security context from Servlet Layer to EJB Layer, So that I can use EJB Declartive security and getCallerPrincipal(), isCallerInRole() API.
For more info please see this thread http://forum.springframework.org/showthread.php?t=26514
Why dont you provide standard EJB interceptor API as there is with servlets (using filters), so there I am able add security identity to EJB context.
I am eagerly waiting for the reply

Although i am quite new to this as well i would say that there is a problem with your connection with the database.
It seems it cannot connect to Mysql.
have you download the mysql package library and imported it ?
Also in your deploy folder in you Jboss
have you altered the jdbc to connect to you database in your dataset ? ( i am not sure about mysql, but postgre reguired this)
Most probably it would be the same in mysql.

Not sure if this is what you reguire, i am new at this my self

Although i am quite new to this as well i would say that there is a problem with your connection with the database.
It seems it cannot connect to Mysql.
have you download the mysql package library and imported it ?
Also in your deploy folder in you Jboss
have you altered the jdbc to connect to you database in your dataset ? ( i am not sure about mysql, but postgre reguired this)
Most probably it would be the same in mysql.
    <connection-url>jdbc:postgresql://127.0.0.1:5432/Dissertation</connection-url>
Not sure if this is what you reguire, i am new at this my self

  • WSIF calling EJB 3.0 beans, with JAXB 2.0.2 as the JavaSerializer

I'm working with SOA suite (10.1.3.1.0 [build #0 ]), and I am trying to allow my BPEL processes to call my EJB 3.0 stateless session beans via WSIF.
This works fine when I am passing primitives (strings, dates and so-forth) between BPEL and my EJB's using WSIF.
However I want to be able to pass my 'business objects" across the BPEL/EJB boundary directly. I started off by following the BPEL cookbook article "Using WSIF for Integration" which was usefull in showing how to use JAXB 1.x generated classes across the BPEL/EJB boundary.
However in the project I am working on we want to use JAXB 2.0 as it allows us to create an XML schmea binding directly from our existing "business objects".
So I am using the knowlege gained in the article mentioned above to implement a custom JavaSerializer for my bpel process that will use JAXB 2.0. My custom JavaSerilizer is being invoked correctly, when I invoke my BPEL process, but it is unable to load the correct JAXB (2.0.2) classes - it keeps getting the JAXB 1.0 classes that come standard with oracle.
My debug code that prints out the classloaders for my serializers (and parent classloaders) reports the following:
    06/09/05 11:18:18 CustomSerializer.serialize
    06/09/05 11:18:18 Classloader =oracle.bpel.common:10.1.3
    06/09/05 11:18:18 Classloader =api:1.4.0
    06/09/05 11:18:18 Classloader =jre.extension:0.0.0
    06/09/05 11:18:18 Classloader =jre.bootstrap:1.5.0_06
The Jaxb classes it is loading a coming from classloader:
    06/09/05 11:18:18 JAXBContext classloader =oracle.xml:10.1.0_2
My question is how do I get the JAXB 2.0 classes in my classpath?
    Thanks,
    Dave Oram

    Hello,
About WSIF, we are currently working on a WSIF-EJB30 binding that will allow you to direclty annotate the session ben and get the EJB exposed as SOAP and WSIF binding out of the box.
This will be available in OracleAS 10.1.3.1 production.

  • Re: EJB Control not working with methods that contain arguments

    John,
I'm not qualified to answer your EJB control question, but before you
become too disillusioned with page flows I'd like to mention that the
request scoped data form and and the return-to="page" issues you
mentioned have been addressed for the next service pack. We've
introduced the ability to specify a page flow scoped form bean which
lives for the life of the page flow, and we've clarified the return-to
values to include both "currentPage" and "previousPage" which should
    clarify the expected behavior.
I hope you give it a try.

Oh well guess you guys gave up on this one. Thats ok, I have utilized a workaround
that forgoes your non working controls just like I have workarounds for your dataforms
that do not maintain their data between pages, your retrun to page that does not
work etc.... At this rate I should have just used struts and JBoss.

    John,
For a stateless session bean, the ejbCreate() method is called for
    every
individual method call. This is because the bean instance is returned
    to the
pool after every method call, it does not hold any state.
I am still surprised about the behaviour you are seeing.
Can you just attach your stateless session bean. You need not sendthe
dependent files, since we only want to sniff the call made to the stateless
EJB method, and are not concerned with the implementation.

    Anurag,
I am using the GA release. My control looks identicle toTraderEJBControl.jcx
except of course it is extending a different home and bean interface. The
    bean
itself does not exacly match the traderbean but it does look very
    similar
    to MusicBean.java
in the tutorialsApp. One thing that has me a bit confused is the
    fact
    the
    create()
method is being called every time I make a method call on the control.Shouldn't
the bean only be created once at the first method call and persistfor the
    life
    of the session?

    John,
Have you tried running the ejbControl/TraderEJBClient.jws in SamplesApp.
    It
does involve calling methods on the stateless EJB TraderEJB through
    an
    EJB
control, which accept parameters and run fine.
Could you also confirm that you are using the 8.1 GA release, andnot
    the
    beta.

    Raj,
I cannot attach them here. I am not sure how you would test them
    anyway
    as I
would have to send you my Oracle schema and you would have to
    set
    up
    a
    database
instance. There is no way I can do that. If you could please
    send
    me an
    e-mail
I can attach the relevant files in reply and you could take a
    look
    at them
    and
see if you see any obvious problems.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I have created an EJB control on a stateless session bean.
    For
    some
    reason when
I attempt to call a method on my control that takes any number
    of
    arguments I
    get a java.lang.IllegalArgumentException yet if I call a method
    that
    takes
    no
arguments everything works fine. I used the debugger to walk
    through
    the
    code
and have discovered that every time I call any method on the
    control
    the
    create()
method gets called, this is exactly where the error is occurring. It is
    almost
like the control is trying to pass my method args to the create()
    method
    instead
of the method I am calling. I have tested all of the methods
    in
    the
    ejb
    by manually
coding everything (getInitialContext ejb.create etc) in a .jsp
    and
    calling
    all
of the methods within that .jsp. There they all work fine
    so
    I
    am
    pretty
    sure
the control is doing something funky. Any ideas as to what
    is
    going
    on
    and how
    I can fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

Was this issue ever resolved ? We are running into the same problem.
The last response is "I'm not qualified to answer your EJB control question."
Can this be escalated to someone who can please ?

  • Ejb datacontrol, query panel with timestamps / date field errors

    Hi,
I made an ejb datacontrol on a session bean in jdev 11g ps1 and used the named criteria of this entity in the data control to create an af querypanel. This works well.
first thing I cannot configure a date picker with time on this timestamp field (only date ).( does not matter what I configure in the entity datacontrol xml , it does not work )
and displaying the timestamp field in a inputData ( result table ) and showing the time also does not work either.
When I use in the query panel a between query operator on this date or timestamp field I get this error.

  • Need a help to create ejb application in netbeans with weblogic 9.2

    Hi guys,
I am new to EJB..can anyone guide me to create a EJB application in netbeans 5.5 with weblogic server 9.2 ..
    thank u in advance..

    Hi guys,
If there is no one to help me with this so simple project then I will have to quit trying. I am getting to much pressure to get this done and I just don't know how to proceed anymore. I have found a document on OTN that explain the basics of binding but it's to vast and too complicated under pressure. If someone could help me to bind this LOV I would appreciate this so much and then I could relax a little and read all the good documents that I have found on OTN.
    This is my last chance.
    Thank you!

  • EJB 3.1 @Singleton with @Startup causes @PostConstruct to be called twice...

I have been working on initializing a some elements in the @PostConstruct annotated method within an EJB that is already annotated as @Singleton.  I decided that I wanted the initialization to be done when the EJB is deployed so I added the @Startup.  Both the constructor and @PostConstruct method is getting called twice.  Can someone please explain to me why it appears the EJB is being initialized twice and if there is a way to prevent the @PostConstruct method from being called twice?
    Many thanks,
    - Joe

    Is this with GlassFish?

  • EJB Control not working with methods that contain arguments

    Hi,
I have created an EJB control on a stateless session bean. For some reason when
I attempt to call a method on my control that takes any number of arguments I
get a java.lang.IllegalArgumentException yet if I call a method that takes no
arguments everything works fine. I used the debugger to walk through the code
and have discovered that every time I call any method on the control the create()
method gets called, this is exactly where the error is occurring. It is almost
like the control is trying to pass my method args to the create() method instead
of the method I am calling. I have tested all of the methods in the ejb by manually
coding everything (getInitialContext ejb.create etc) in a .jsp and calling all
of the methods within that .jsp. There they all work fine so I am pretty sure
the control is doing something funky. Any ideas as to what is going on and how
    I can fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

One thing that has me a bit confused is the
    fact
    the
    create()
method is being called every time I make a method call on the control.Shouldn't
the bean only be created once at the first method call and persistfor the
    life
    of the session?

    John,
Have you tried running the ejbControl/TraderEJBClient.jws in SamplesApp.
    It
does involve calling methods on the stateless EJB TraderEJB through
    an
    EJB
control, which accept parameters and run fine.
Could you also confirm that you are using the 8.1 GA release, andnot
    the
    beta.

    Raj,
I cannot attach them here. I am not sure how you would test them
    anyway
    as I
would have to send you my Oracle schema and you would have to
    set
    up
    a
    database
instance. There is no way I can do that. If you could please
    send
    me an
    e-mail
I can attach the relevant files in reply and you could take a
    look
    at them
    and
see if you see any obvious problems.
    Thanks,

and read the Music Collection database to get the
