EJB 3.0 deployment problem

I just started learning EJB3.0. I created a slsb application very similar to the converter available in the tutorial sample. However when i build and deploy the app I am getting this error ->This application client has no ejb refernce by the name simpleSessionRemote. This happens when I have app-client jar inside the ear. For only jar and war inside the ear there is no deployement problems. I am using NetBeans 5.5 and Sun App server. Anyone has come across similar issue?

How are you looking up the remote ejb dependency in the app client -- via @EJB or InitialContext()?
Please post the source code for the app client, the full error message/stack trace, and any of the following files that exist in the .ear : sun-ejb-jar.xml, application-client.xml, sun-application-client.xml, ejb-jar.xml .

  • Spring 2.5.5 and EJB 3.0 Deployment problem in WLS 10.3

    Hi,
    I am attempting to deploy a EAR file that previously ran on SJSAS 9.1 update 1 to WLS 10.3. As part of the deployment I get the following error related to the EJB3 classes.
    There are 1 nested errors: weblogic.j2ee.dd.xml.AnnotationProcessException: [EJB:015002]Unable to load class au.edu.cqu.cis.web.ajaxservice.AjaxServicesBean in Jar D:\dev\env\oracle\middleware\jdeveloper\system\system11.1.1.0.31.51.56\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\tmp\_WL_user\ProgEnrol-ear-3\v540rk\ProgEnrol-ejb-3.0.4-SNAPSHOT.jar : java.lang.ArrayStoreException: sun.reflect.annotation.TypeNotPresentExceptionProxy
    I suspect that this is related to the @Autowired spring annotation in use in the session bean. Either, the server is not finding the Spring JAR correctly or it has a problem with the annotation.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need to deploy the spring jar as a library?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Graeme.

    Hi, Graeme.
    Seems there is an existing CR on something related from v10.0: CR353213
    * WLS 10.0 - EJB 3.0 deployment fails when parsing class for Stateless annotation
    According to http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/issues/known_resolved.html, this is not addressed in 10.3
    Closely review your classpath, and then (assuming you have access to the source) review the body of your ejb. If it is related to this CR, you may be able to workaround the issue by shortening the body and split large methods into more sub-methods.
    I hope this helps,

  • Ejb and jsproc deployment problems

    Am trying to deploy the java stored procedure (jsp) example
    (jsproc subdirectory in acmevideo directory) and the enterprise
    java bean (ejb) example (ejb subdirectory in acmevideo
    directory). Both use the business and util subdirectries of
    acmevideo directory. These examples are provided with
    JDeveloper.
    In the case of the jsp example, the files compile fine in
    JDeveloper. The deployment profile file is created okay using
    the Stored Procedure Profile Wizard. But when the jsp is
    attempted to be deployed by right clicking the deployment
    profile file menu in JDeveloper, the following errors appear:
    SQL error during creation of acmevideo/util/DataWrapper
    ORA-00922 - missing or invalid option
    SQL error during creation of acmevideo/business/TitleQueries
    ORA-00922 - missing or invalid option
    Is there a corrective action for these errors? Are the details
    recorded in any log so that these errors can be troubleshooted?
    In the case of the jbe example, the files compile fine in
    JDeveloper. The deployment profile file is created okay using
    the EJB Profile Wizard. But when the jsp is attempted to be
    deployed by right clicking the deployment profile file menu in
    JDeveloper, the following happens:
    The message indicating that the deployment will take a few
    minues continues to show forever. There is no completion,
    and one is forced to cancel the process.
    This happens when using the port settings of 1521, 1526 (Oracle
    listener ports) or 2651 (OAS ORB port). Specifying the service
    or omitting it yeilds the same results.
    Is there a corrective action for this? Are the details recorded
    in any log so that these errors can be troubleshooted?
    For both the situations, is the classpath variable need to set
    outside the JDeveloper environment?
    Also am not able to locate the Oracle 8i CORBA and Enterprise
    Java Beans Developer's Guide and the Oracle 8i Java Stored
    Procedure Developer's Guide referenced in Building Java
    Applications for Oracle 8i anywhere.
    Would appreciate any help in this area.

  • EJB and Dictionary Deployment Problem

    Hi,
    I am new to SAP J2EE engine. I tried deploying a simple EJB application with one entity(CMP) and one stateless session bean but cud not succeed. These were the problems:
    1. When I used SAPDB for CMP, it said the table TMP_EMPLOYEE (which the CMP bean maps to, as per persistet.xml) is not found in the catalog. Then I created a dictionary project with the TMP_EMPLOYEE table defined, but I couldn't deploy the dictionary archive. SDM (from the NWS IDE) says this:
    Result
    => deployment not executed : file:/C:/DOCUME1/i031278/LOCALS1/Temp/temp11240EmployeeDB.sda
    The SDA with development component 'EmployeeDB'/'sap.com'/'localhost'/'2004.11.25.19.41.45' changed its software type from J2EE to JDDSCHEMA. This change is not supported.
    Deployment will be aborted.
    Deployment exception : Got problems during deployment
    2. When I changed the DB provider to MS_SQL_SERVER, which had EMPLOYEEDB/TMP_EMPLOYEE defined, and the SQL server was started, the Table was again not found! (i.e., if I switch off deploy-time table verification, this TableLockingException is thrown. Otherwise ORMappingVerificationException is thrown when the deploy-time verification switch is on).
    I have specified the resource-ref etc properly now. This sample application also has a servlet which tries to access the session bean, which inturn talks to the CMP bean. I'm sure that the JNDI names are properly referred.
    I am using SAP J2EE engine 6.40 with SP9 and IDE is 2.0.9.
    Another thing: I tried to deploy the tutorial 'Car Rental EJB Application' application's dictionary. Even that failed with the same error!
    Please help me with this.
    Thanks a lot!

    Prashanth

    Start with the JEE5 tutorial:
    http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/
    Part 3 discusses EJB stuff
    I would recommend going to a few samples, bundled with most of the appservers to see the appserver specific stuff.

    very problematic for me. Please write me the complete
    steps which should include:
    1. Starting from class, interface programs creationSo you have the classes and interface implemented.
    Next thing is to create a ejb-jar.xml in which your EJBs are defined (optional for EJB3.0)
    2. Package creation and accessing it along with class
    path settingPackaging all in a jar file is enough for an appserver to find your classes.
    3. How and where to compile these classes and
    interfaces (app server details), JARCompilation usually needs the javx.ejb.* classes, most appservers have a j2ee.jar in which the javax.* classes you need are present.
    in jour jar file you package your classes and deployment descriptor
    4.deployment details on any app server like SUN, web
    logicDeployment to appservers is product specific, see the manual here.
    you may want to add some other , vedor specific, deployment settings which are not ejb specification defined, these go into a vendor specific DD, for Sun for example the sun-ejb-jar.xml.

  • Problem generating stubs for Java EJB web service deployed in OAS

    I created an EJB web service and I've successfully deployed it in my Oracle App Server. Some of the methods work fine but others produce the ff error:
    org.apache.soap.SOAPException - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize [classname] using encoding style [encoding]It seems that the objects specified as parameters in the web service methods exposed are the only ones that had stubs generated for them. Other objects I use, which are usually wrapped inside a Vector, did not have generated stubs.
    Example:
         public String loginUser(UserDTO userDTO) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException;
    public String addItems (Vector vecItems) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException; // where vecItems is a collection of ItemDTO objects     In this scenario, stubs were generated for the UserDTO class, but not for the ItemDTO class. In effect, calling the addItems method resulted to the exception I mentioned above.
    I did a workaround wherein I declared a dummy method which accepted all the types of objects I needed as parameters so all the necessary stubs can be generated, but this fix doesn't feel like it's the proper solution to my problem.
    If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Assuming that you have done the 'right' tinkg and changed the
    password for the user SYS, then you are running into a JServer
    bug. When the password file on the server and the user SYS
    password in the rdbms get out of synch, this bug crops up (the
    instance will be killed, immediately and with prejudice). The
    solution is to:
    -shut down the rdbms
    -disable the password file in the INIT.ORA by setting the
    parameter to EXCLUSIVE. Sorry the exact parameter change escapes
    me at the moment, I have posted it earlier in this forum so you
    can probably find it there if you don't already know it.
    -restart the rdbms and change the sys password (again)
    -you can then re-enable the password file if you need.
    That's it. You will now be able to connect as SYS either via the
    deployejb utility or session shell w/o bringing down the
    database.

  • Deploy problem with ejb jar in WEB-INF/lib

    Please help with : StringIndexOutOfBoundsException
    On WL 6.1 sp2, I have one EJB jar that deploys fine in an expanded EAR structure,
    this has EJB jars and the web apps together running under a single JVM.
    But when I need to deploy the Web App to a separate server & JVM, still using
    WL 6.1, and leave the EJBs in another WL server I get java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException.
    I have about 8 ejb jars. When I put one of them in the Web-App's WEB-INF/lib directory.
    I get java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException when it starts up, just after/during
    the extracting of classes for the standalone Web App. The exception stack trace
    mentions manifest, but the manifest for the ejb jar is just standard. It doesn't
    even have a Class-Path: entry, which all the others happen to have. an needs
    to contain the server EJB jars.

    Please help with : StringIndexOutOfBoundsException
    On WL 6.1 sp2, I have one EJB jar that deploys fine in an expanded EARstructure,
    this has EJB jars and the web apps together running under a single JVM.
    But when I need to deploy the Web App to a separate server & JVM, stillusing
    WL 6.1, and leave the EJBs in another WL server I getjava.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException.
    >
    I have about 8 ejb jars. When I put one of them in the Web-App'sWEB-INF/lib directory.
    I get java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException when it starts up, justafter/during
    the extracting of classes for the standalone Web App. The exception stacktrace
    mentions manifest, but the manifest for the ejb jar is just standard. Itdoesn't
    even have a Class-Path: entry, which all the others happen to have. anneeds
    to contain the server EJB jars.

  • Best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment

    Hi Gurus,
      What is the best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment in NW7.1? I have a stateless session bean and it needs to get some environment information before acting. While the information can only be known at runtime. What should I do to achieve it? I thought I can bind the property with a JNDI context but I did not find out where to declare and change the context value. Please advise. Thanks.
    B.R.

    Hi.
    I have a similar problem. But I still can not edit the properties of the ejb-jar.xml.
    I tried to stop the web service, but the properties still remain unmodifiable.
    Could you advise me how to change them?
    We have installed SAP Server 7.0.2

  • Message Driven Bean deployment problem in SAILFIN b12

    Hi,
    I am a fresh learner in EJB technology and have been experiencing a deployment problem while attempting to deploy a very simple message driven bean, that does nothing basically, to a SAILFIN (b12) application server instance. I am using NetBeans 5.5.1 to form the message driven bean but I deploy the bean manually on a Linux terminal. The following is the code of the bean:
    package trial.mdb;
    import javax.annotation.Resource;
    import javax.ejb.ActivationConfigProperty;
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/MDB1", activationConfig = {
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "acknowledgeMode", propertyValue = "Auto-acknowledge"),
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue")
    public class MDB1 implements MessageListener {
    /** Creates a new instance of MDB1 */
    public MDB1() {
    public void onMessage(Message message) {
    I got the following message after deployment attempt:
    "Command deploy executed successfully with following warning messages: Error occurred during application loading phase. The application will not run properly. Please fix your application and redeploy.
    WARNING: com.sun.enterprise.deployment.backend.IASDeploymentException: Error while loading EJB module [TrialMDB]. Please refer to the server log for more details."
    The verifier does not give any error, warning or failure message and it states "com.sun.enterprise.connectors.ConnectorRuntimeException: JMS resource not created : jms/MDB1;" in the server log. Below, I have stated the content of the server log. I am novice in EJB technology particularly in message driven beans so any help will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi thank you for your answer. I did not create any jms resource in the application server because my message driven bean was not implementing the MessageListener interface. Since it did not work in that way, I added the MessageListenerInterface to the bean and formed the necessary jms resources usuing the admin console of the SAILFIN but it keeps giving the same message both on the linux terminal and the server log.
    Let me explain my situation in a more detailed way. I am developing a JCA based resource adapter (i.e.) connector. The inbound module of the connector listens on a specific port for incoming messages from a server (EIS). The port property is defined in the connector's deployment descriptor. When a message reaches, the connector delivers it to the a message driven bean whose code is indicated in the following:
    package com....;
    import com....ra.facade.InboundListener;
    import javax.ejb.ActivationConfigProperty;
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    import java.util.logging.*;
    * Entity class InboundMessageReceiverMDB
    * @author efikayd
    @MessageDriven(
    mappedName = "InboundMessageReceiverMDB",
    messageListenerInterface = com......ra.facade.InboundListener.class,
    activationConfig = {
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName = "listenerPort", propertyValue = "12345"),
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="ConnectionFactoryJndiName", propertyValue="RAjms/MyQCF"),
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="DestinationName", propertyValue="MyQueue"),
    @ActivationConfigProperty(
    propertyName="DestinationType", propertyValue="javax.jms.Queue")
    public class InboundMessageReceiverMDB implements InboundListener, MessageListener {
    private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("com.xyz.inbound.InboundMessageReceiverMDB");
    /** Creates a new instance of InboundMessageReceiverMDB */
    public InboundMessageReceiverMDB() {
    public void onMessage(Message message) {
    public void receiveMessage(String message) {
    logger.log(Level.SEVERE, "CLASS: " + getClass().getName() + "METHOD: receiveMessage() ==> Message received...: " + message);
    The listener interface is the following:
    package com...ra.facade;
    public interface InboundListener{
    public void receiveMessage(String message);
    I have set the JMS resource and the destination resource properties on the admin console in the following manner:
    ConnectionFactory:
    JNDI Name: RAjms/MyQCF
    Pool Name: RAjms/MyQCF
    Type: javax.jms.ConnectionFactory
    Status: enabled
    Property1 ==> Name: DestinationType Value: javax.jms.Queue
    Property2 ==> Name: DestinationName Value: MyQueue
    Destination (i.e. queue):
    JNDIName: MyQueue
    Physical Destination Name: MyQueue
    status: enabled
    Property1 ==> Name: DestinationType Value:javax.jms.Queue
    Property2 ==> Name: DestinationName Value:MyQueue
    Although I created the JMS resources as above I am getting the same problems.Do you think the above configuration is fine and appropriate to the activation configuration definitions in my message driven bean code? Am I missing something on this configuration? Below, I have indicated the message that I got on the linux terminal when I attempt to deploy the message driven bean and the related server log. They are same as what I posted before (i.e. JMS resource cannot be created...). Thank you very much in advance for your help.
    Kind regards,
    faydemir
    PS: The 'restart' command in the following linux terminal outcome basically makes a call to a bash script which deploys the message driven bean to the SAILFIN application server. The resource adapter instance is already deployed on the application server before attempting to deploy the message driven bean.
    WHILE DEPLOYING:
    ws2089 [11:29am] [home/efikayd/bin] -> ./restart
    Command deploy executed successfully with following warning messages: Error occurred during application loading phase. The application will not run properly. Please fix your application and redeploy.
    WARNING: com.sun.enterprise.deployment.backend.IASDeploymentException: Error while loading EJB module [InboundReceiverMDBModule]. Please refer to the server log for more details.

    Can anyone tell me why am I getting this error.
    Thnx for your help.
    Best regards.

    Hello Decio Junior,
    Actually yes, I resolved my problem.
    I'm developing an EJB 3.0 project. I'm using NWDS 7.2 and JDK 1.6 as I said.
    The problem is that my server was using JDK 1.4 and that was the problem.
    EJB 1.1 and 2.1 need ejb-jar.xml but EJB 3.0 use the annotations instead.
    Check your server JDK Version. It should be JDK 1.5 or higher.
    Something else that you should check, in your project properties :
    In the Build PATH : Use JDK 1.5
    In the Java Compiler : Set the java compiler compliance level to 1.6 and check use default compliance settings
    Hope it would help.
    If you need more explanations, I'm here
    Good luck.

  • Terracotta: application deploy problem (WLP 9.2)

    hi,
    when i try to deploy a Portal application on a bea weblogic server (9.2.1), that is enabled for terracotta (added the java startup arguments to the bea server and the client is visible in the Terracotta Administrator Console), the deployment fails and a lot of compile errors are shown concerning bea classes (from netuix.jar and content.jar, see bottom for snippet). for some reason bea wants to compile these classes on deployment.
    has anybody seen this same problem and does anybody have a solution or workaround for this problem? must the classes be compiled on the fly during development?
    regards,

    Hi Klaus,
    if you want to implement a global transaction over two different JDBC Resource Managers
    (update on both + 2PC) they have to be both XA compliant.
    Or you could have only one of them XA compliant(i.e: one 8.1.6 or higher Oracle instance):
    for the other one (i.e.: one 7.3.2 Oracle instance) you could use a non XA-driver
    and configuring a TXDataSource with "enable two-phase commit" = true (but only one
    non-XA JDBC driver at a time can participate in a distributed transaction).
    Well, XA transactions are not a pre-requisite for EJB: you could use simple "local"
    transactions or distributed transactions without XA drivers as well (using a single
    resource manager).
    But if you want to update multiple resource managers in the same transaction using
    EJBs, this is a "global" transaction, and WL server fully supports it.
    But the partecipants must be XA compliant to be able to "talk" to WL coordinator.

    Hi Sergi, hello world,
    thanks a lot for this message. So the conclusion is that I hava no chance
    at all
    to use this oracle version (7.3.2) with BEA WLS (or more common EJB), cause
    a prerequisite
    for EJB are XA-transactions.
    Is this conclusion correct.
    Many thanks again

  • Deployment problems EAR & WAR

    I have serious problems deploying an EAR, containing 25 ejb-jars and 3 wars.
    The history of the project is that it was first developed on WLS 4.5 & 5.1. We
    have later moved to Orion were the actual development takes place. Now we can
    run the application on Orion and WLS 5.1. We now want to deploy the application
    on WLS 6.1 sp 2. We have setup the whole application to be deployed as one EAR,
    this works fine with Orion. The whole building is made in Ant.
    I'm new on WLS 6.1 but have worked a lot on WLS 5.1 and 4.5 (I think it was).
    I might have missed something but the documentation on EAR is very short.
    When I first deploy the EAR, it seemed to work fine according to the console,
    however when I tried to access servlets or JSPs, they simply weren't there (Error
    404--Not Found). When I deployed the EAR from the console I got a number of zipexceptions.
    After asking around, I was recommended to remove the compression in the jar,war
    & earfiles. When I did that I got a number of errors in static initializers in
    EJBs, which indicated that the EJBs actually were deployed. I fixed those and
    the application was deployed without errors (when I start WLS and the EAR is deployed
    by being in the config.xml file). Still when I deploy it from the console it still
    throws ZipExceptions.
    Anyway now I can access one of the war files but the other is not there. The deployed
    war file is a lot smaller than the one not being deployed.
    I think that all settings in application.xml, web.xml etc is correct. I'm also
    confident that modules are correct, it does work in Orion, which has similar classloading.
    From other developers, I have heard that I need to use WLS 6.1 sp 2, no compression
    and that I have to break up large EARs in smaller (my EAR is 6,5 MB) files.
    What really annoys me that I do not seem to get any errors, logs or anything.
    The console indicates that everything is deployed even if apparently is not.
    And I can deploy PerStore and everything works. If I deploy the wars, and ejbs
    from the console (one at a time), it works.
    I would appreciate any help on this subject any workarounds etc. I think that
    I have to skip my first intent and deploy an exploded EAR instead of having (almost)
    the same deployement as in Orion, which kind of pisses me of. I am also disappointed
    that BEA has apperantly skipped java-modules all together. It is after all in
    the specification.
    I have talked to a number of people and they say that the whole EAR deployment
    in WLS is very shaky. Is this true?
    Thanks in advance,
    Erik Romson

    EAR deployment works fine from my own experience. Use JAR and turn off
    compression for the WARs and JARs and the EAR itself, although I've never
    seen a ZIP exception and I use JAR and ZIP and Winzip and whatever else I
    can grab to muck with the files. 6.5MB is not tiny, but it isn't very large
    either -- WL can handle much bigger EARs. Normally we don't suggest having
    so many JARs and WARs in the EAR, but that is more preference ... are you
    using manifest class path? ... are you referring to any of the files in the
    WARs from any of the classes in the JARs?
