EJB and ADF- Checking State of Entity Bean before Commit

Hi All,
I have created a sample using Ejb as business service and then created 2 forms in page and i am calling only one merge action for 2 forms.
I need to validate whether the data is modified or not....in business service layer...
So my doubt is how to check the State whether it is modified or not... or how can i use EntityFacadeImpl class..Any link or suggestions??
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.5
Regards
Karthick

Hi,
+.. or how can i use EntityFacadeImpl class+
expose a method onthe facade (e.g. checkDirtyState) that accesses this class for the transaction state and that returns true or false. This then is exposed by the DataControl and you create a method binding in teh pages PageDef for it. You can then access it as
BindingContainer bindings = ... get access to the binding layer ...
OperationBinding checkDirtyDataState = (OperationBinding) bindings.get("Name of Method Binding");
Object outcome = checkDirtyDataState.execute();
if(outcome != null){
   if ((Boolean)outcome == Boolean.TRUE){
      //do this
  else{
    //do that
}A Second option is to add a transient field to the entities that indicates client side changes. You then iterate over the DCIteratorBinding reference checking if any entity in it has been changed (identified by the dirty flag)

  • Do I must include orion-ejb-jar.xml in my CMP entity bean?

    Deal all:
    I've had a problem about deployment of my CMP entity bean.
    I don't know if I need to include orion-ejb-jar.xml in the jar
    file? Could anyone tell me what files I should include them in
    jar file and what config file(like data-sources.xml) I should
    modify them?
    Thanks!!

    The orion-ejb-jar.xml is not necessary...oc4j/orion auto-
    generates this configuration file when the application is
    deployed. You would only need this file if you are using o-r
    mapping, or changing some deployment time option with your ejb.
    The config/data-sources.xml file is used by the container. If
    you are using oracle, you will need to use the data-sources.xml
    for your database (the path needs the proper database name, and
    server host, and you will need to put in the password and
    username). Use the example with the oc4j docs to help you, or
    the one already in your config directory.

  • 'pool' to 'ready' state of entity bean

    Entity bean's life cycle is show at http://java.sun.com/j2ee/tutorial/1_3-fcs/doc/EJBConcepts9.html#63498 Can entity bean go from pooled state to ready state by methods other than create (e.g. a find method)?

    How many questions are you going to ask at once?
    Most of these have been answered countless times, both here and on the web. Why don't you try searching instead of spewing endless questions?

  • EJB 3.0 question - saving an entity bean containing another entity bean

    Hi,
    First, I want to store an entity bean. Secondly, I want to store another entity bean - containing the first entity bean.
    I have the following code in a session bean for this:
    public void saveFeedScheduling(FeedScheduling feedScheduling, FeedSource feedSource) {
    FeedSource feeds = em.merge(feedSource);
    em.flush();
    feedScheduling.setFeedSource(feeds);
    FeedScheduling feedSched = em.merge(feedScheduling);
    em.flush();
    This seems to work fine - still, is this the proper way to do it?

    Hello,
    This kind of parameter can be specified using the relationship annotation.
    I'm not 100% sure, but, lok at the "cascade element".

  • EJB And ADF

    Hello:
    Is there a way to have an EJB Persistent Model where the EJB Methodget relevant data from Views? It looks like all retrieval of table information occurs in the Facade Bean. Is there a way for the facade bean method to get data from ReadOnly Views instead of using a method like the following in the facade
    public String getRoleDescr(String roleId)
    SecRole role = (SecRole)this.em.createNamedQuery("SecRole.findByRoleId").setParameter("roleId", roleId).getSingleResult();
    return role.getDescr();
    I want the the roleId that is passed in to be used in a binding variable so that I can get info from the views.
    Any examples, links?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you should be able to use EJBQL against the database from a session facade

  • Why Interceptors are not used in Entity beans?

    Why Interceptors are not used in Entity beans?
    Interceptors can be used in MDB, Session bean but not in Entity bean....why so?
    Thanks,
    Rahul.

    Hi,
    why batch updations are not prefered in entity beansPlease refer the specification of ejb and find out what the entity bean is meant for.In short the emtity bean represents the object state which can be persisted.
    Talking regarding the batch updations does not make sense , also the entity bean represents the row of the table mapped to the Object(java Object).

  • RE: design patterns involving EJBs and JDO

    Is the idea that you specify in some config file (xml?) the methods of
    your session bean, whether its stateful or stateless, the default bean
    transaction semantics, etc, then say "go" and it generates the home and
    remote interfaces and the skeletal session bean class?

    IMHO, JDO replaces entity beans, but you'll have to decide for yourself.
    My recommendation would be to use session beans exclusively.
    Where do you get TechTrader's "SessionBean Creator"? What are its

    Hi,
    I was just wondering, if you are using JDO for persistence, does it
    matter whether you wrap your objects with proxy EntityBeans or
    SessionBeans? I am currently demoing TechTrader's SessionBean creator,
    which makes means that for me creating SessionBeans is much easier than
    creating EntityBeans. I am currently using stateful SessionBeans to
    wrap the JDO objects, simply dropping them when the bean is passivated
    and refinding them ( they'll already be in the cache ) when the bean is
    activated.
    My main advantage in doing it this way is SessionBeans are so much
    easier to create. Do you see any problems looming, or any other
    advantages to this decision?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problems accessing ejb 3.0 entity bean from project

    I have written some code using ejb 3.0 and was previously accessing the entity bean without problem when both ejbs and the accessing code were in the same project. However I have moved the accessing code into a different project within the same application and now when the code tries to accessing the entity bean I get the following error:
    com.colwilson.web.ingestion.IdentifiedException: java.lang.ClassCastException: __Proxy3

    Now, of course I could move the code back into the same project, but as I understand it that is just the point of ejbs. I'm looking up the entity bean thus:
    final Context context = InitialContext();
    ingestionSessionEJB =
    (IngestionSessionEJB)context.lookup("IngestionSessionEJB");
    It may be true that I don't understand the way lookup works, but to be honest I can't find the docs that explain what I've got wrong.
    Please help.

    hi
    Double Click on the project which is goin to use the project which contains bean from the Application Navigator window. The project properties window will open. Choose the "Dependencies" item from left panel. click on the radio "User Project Settings" and select another project which contain ejb which you're goin to access...

  • Query about reentrant in ejb-jar.xml file(in case of entity Bean)

    Hi all friends,
    I am new to EJB I couldn't understand in ejb-jar.xml file in case Entity Bean[<reentrant>False</reentrant>
    &<reentrant>true</reentrant>]what is the function of this tag and what is the effect of value true and false of this tag.Can any one please explain it.
    Regards
    Bikash

    Hi,
    Re-entrant tag is used in the ejb-jar.xml to notify the container if you would want your bean to call itself through another bean.
    Most of the time you would want it to be set to FALSE because you would have to consider the multi-threading issues if you set it TRUE.

  • Proxy object and entity Bean interaction

    Hello,
    I'd like to have some precisions on the interactions between the proxy object (client) and the entity bean(server):
    - does J2EE provides ways for a bean to manage clients, to define roles and permissions, lock, etc ... ? What informations an entity bean can know about the clients ?.
    - how does the context mechanism work on the entity bean side ?
    - how does an entity bean identify different clients ? how does it recognize one from another ? I mean if client c1 and client c2 use same entity bean B, how B can manage different roles for c1 and c2, and how can B returns specific values to a particular client.
    Thx.

    If you can read some tutorial, you will get all the information.
    I'll suggest a book EJB by richard manson publicvations oreilly.
    The activities you are talking about is responsibility of container and user developed bean are totally absytracted from this system level activities.
    Primary service include security which take care of activities like Authentication, access control and secure communication.
    for role based access control u have container providing the identity by Principal object. DDescriptors declare which logical roles are allowed to access even perticular method of the bean.

  • Entity bean (ejb 3.0) refactoring problem

    I didn't find a better method than regenerating an entity bean after modifying the table definition and renaming the class after deleting the old one.
    I'm not sure i can delete the old class representing the entity bean before regenerating it without any effects into the others entity beans.
    It work fine but still a little problem. The refactoring process didn't change the name of the entity bean into the select clauses into queynamed injection.

    I am facing a similar problem. Does JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3.3.0) provide an automatic process to update an Entity Bean definition when the underlying database table definition changes?
    I also noticed that for JDeveloper to create all the relationships (i.e. @OneToMany, @ManyToOne) between multiple Entity beans, I need to create all the Entity beans together in one pass using the wizard. If two entities depend on each other, and not created together, JDeveloper will not create the relationships between them. Is there a way around that?
    Thank you

  • Cmp Entity Beans and collections

    I am doing a proof of concept application and I have implemented an Entity bean which accesses through a DAO object to my Informix database and returns records based on a serial field called sightID. This works fine and I can access the records and store new records. I now need to demonstrate the power of CMP beans and return a collection showing all records for a particular field called Type. Here is where my problems start. If I am using CMP I need to map the primary key field to the primary key field of the database (this is sightID) the field I need to get the collection on is not a key field and is only a text field with one of four values. How can I use CMP to return a collection based on a non priomary key field? is this possible? I am willing to post all my code but there is 14 pages.
    any help greatly appreciated

    can anyone suggest me on howto solve this problem

    I suspect that there is a type mismatch somewhere in the CMP fields (there is a ClassCastException in the trace).
