    the DB-filed where the value 'tt*' should be stored, is defined as primary key VARCHAR Field!
    if I remove the primary key constrain from this field, then it works!
    Can anybody tell me what can I do in this case?
    I would like to insert a regular expression strings in this primary key String-field.
    Is there an escape or quoting operation? some suggestions?
    thank you

    Most probably you have an error in resources setup. Please check the <resources> section of the instance server.xml
    or via the admin ui.

  • EJB CMP remove create cache issue? DuplicateKeyException

    EJB CMP remove create cache issue? DuplicateKeyException
    Hi I have an EJB 2.1 application using CMP. Most things work fine. But if I in a transaction tries to remove a bean and create a new one with the same primary key I get a DuplicateKeyException:
    2007-11-16 09:25:31,963 ERROR [RMICallHandler-6] AdminGroupData_ConcreteSubClass147 - Error adding AccessRules:
    javax.ejb.DuplicateKeyException: Exception [EJB - 10007]: Exception creating bean of type [AccessRulesData]. Bean already exists.
    at oracle.toplink.internal.ejb.cmp.EJBExceptionFactory.duplicateKeyException(EJBExceptionFactory.java:195)
    I suspect that the remove call only removes from the cache (until commit), but that the create call checks the database or something?
    My code is simple like the following:
    AdminPreferencesDataLocal apdata1 = adminpreferenceshome.findByPrimaryKey(certificatefingerprint);
    adminpreferenceshome.remove(certificatefingerprint);
    adminpreferenceshome.create(certificatefingerprint,newadminpreference);
    Is there some configuration I can set in toplink-ejb-jar.xml to fix this?
    I use OC4j 10.1.3.3
    Cheers,
    Tomas

    The bean.remove() was executed but the sql DELETE was executed to the database as the result, oc4j manages all sql statements and they are optimized to commit to the database in batch at once when the transaction commit. Oc4j ejb container is smart and preventing you from creating the same entity cached in the transaction because the sql delete was not really committed to the database when the create is called.
    My guess is that the reason it works with IBM WAS was because it issued sql for each remove/create call right away instead of doing them in batch as oc4j, or your WAS remove then create were called in separate transactions.

    P.S. I appologize to site Admins for posting the same topic in EJB forum, but it refers to EJBs too.

    Hi,<br>
    In your database, we have some columns of CHAR type and this is the decision of our DB architects. I understand the case ‘male’ or ‘female’, true or false, either; but only if I must choose between 2 variants. Our DB columns contain char symbols such as ‘:’, ‘;’,’-’ etc. and for some inner purposes our architects decided DB columns to be of type CHAR, not VARCHAR. In this case, the Workshop transformation ‘CHAR to BOOLEAN’ doesn’t do useful work. So, I’ve decided to modify some weblogic.jar classes (as described) and now I’m able to generate Entity EJB from DBMS Tables w/o manual intervention.<br>

  • Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?

    Hi,
    It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
    I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
    When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
    I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?

    Hello
    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
    I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
    Here is the source of untitled1.jsp

  • Reg. Field names in ejb-jar.xml (EJB CMP)

    Hi,
    I am using WAS 5.1 and EJB CMP 2.0.
    I got a error while dealing with the database i.e ORACLE 8.The Scenario in detail,
    I had a table X with filed names 'help' and 'sequence'. When i am generating Jar file using 'ejbdeploy', the name of the field names in Table.ddl changing automatically to 'help1' and 'sequence1'. Due to this i am not able to access data from database.
    Why field names are changing? Are they keywords ? con't we have field names with the above names? If they are keywords tell me the document which contains these details?
    Thanks in Advance.

    According to the ejb-jar.xml dtd ejb-name, ejb-class, persistence-type, prim-key-class, reentrant are the required elements for an entity bean.
    <!ELEMENT entity (description?, display-name?, small-icon?,
              large-icon?, ejb-name, home?, remote?, local-home?,
              local?, ejb-class, persistence-type, prim-key-class,
              reentrant, cmp-version?, abstract-schema-name?,
              cmp-field*, primkey-field?, env-entry*, ejb-ref*,
              ejb-local-ref*, security-role-ref*, security-identity?,
              resource-ref*, resource-env-ref*, query*)>

  • Working sample of JSTL:xml?

    Can someone send me a working sample war file using jstl:xml under JSTL 1.1/tomcat 5?
    I think my JSP is right, but I tried it on tomcat-5.5.4, 5.0.28 with JDK1.4.2, JDK1.5.0. All of them give me [#document: null] result. There must be something wrong in my configuration.
    If someone can send me a working war file, I would really appreciate.
    My email address: [email protected]
    Thanks!

    Okay, it is clear to me, you are thinking something that may be working is not, because you are testing incorrectly.
    Doing a c:out of the variable returned from <xml:parse> and getting [#document:  null] is not a sign that the xml document wasn't parsed. I am not sure exatly what the null part of the output means but...
    Look at this code:

    Anyway, from the output, you can see in the comment inside the HTML source that the c:out for the parsed XML file reads [#document: null]. However, the XML was correctly parsed and generated the proper sidebar.
    I know that if you do something like this:
    <x:set var="theBar" select="$sideBar/home_bar"/>
    <c:out value="${theBar}"/> you get [[home_bar: null]].
    Also, if you do:
    <x:out select="$sideBar"/> you will get all the data from the xml file (not the tags) printed out.

  • JasperReports no working sample

    I've couldn't find a working sample with Jasper Reports
    The sample in the jaspers projects site are not what i've expected to find.
    I need somethig like a Hello Report. Or even better a report to a query from a database.
    I've tried some guidelines from googling but still have this execptions:

  • EJB 3 CMP not working in JBoss

    hi,
    i created a simple CMP Entity Bean with mySQL and works fine with OC4J but when delpoy to JBoss 4.0.4RC1, it doesn't work.
    What I realised is that when a JDeveloper create a CMP Entity Bean from a Table it uses @Resource annotaion while I saw all the JBoss samples using @Persistance annotation.
    I changed my CMP to use @persistence annotation and created a persistence.xml file; for somereason it is not working neither in JBoss nor does it work in OC4J.
    Now, if i continue using @Resource annotation, where can I set the datasource so that the @Resource annotation uses my datasource when I deploy it to JBoss?
    or is there any other way to get it working?
    p/s: my datasource is working fine. i created a simple slsb and used
    DataSource ds =
    (DataSource)context.lookup(
    "java:jdbc/mysqlDS");
    and it works fine both in OC4J and JBoss
    any help is appreciated.
    thanks

    Ok, i got this working in JBoss.
    1) Replaced @Resource annotation with @Peristence annotation
    @PersistenceContext(unitName="mysql")
    2) Created persistence.xml in META-INF directory
    <persistence>
    <persistence-unit name="mysql">
    <jta-data-source>java:/jdbc/mysqlDS</jta-data-source>
    <!-- <properties>
    <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto"
    value="create-drop"/>
    </properties> -->
    </persistence-unit>
    </persistence>
    that is it.
    It means that whether we create EJB 3 on toplink EJB 3 or hibernate EJB 3, we should be able to run it on any of these as long as we stick with the standard annotations. JBoss Hibernate EJB has many additional annotations.
    Now, the only thing that is not working is my Firebird DataSource in JBoss. If anyone has done it please let me know .. thanks.

  • Defining a many-to-many relationship with CMP EJBs  : does it work for you

    Curious to know whether someone has been able to set up a many to many relationship between two entity beans.
    I have been struggling with this for days now and I can't get it to work.
    In my test project I have two entity beans, resp. Consultant and Solution.
    Consultant has a cmr field called 'solutions', which is a collection object from the opposite side (Solution).

    I created a stateless session bean as a business facade for the two entity beans. I then created a webservice to test the beans.
    What works :
    - create a consultant
    - get a consultant
    - create a solution
    - get a solution
    (basically everything that doesn't involve the relationship field.
    However, what doesn't work is the method call assignSolution:
    - assign solution : this is implemented as follows
    Business Method.
         public void assignSolution(String consultantID, String solutionID)
              throws ProfilingException {
              // TODO : Implement
              ConsultantLocal cons = null;
              SolutionLocal sol = null;
              try {
                   cons = consHome.findByPrimaryKey(consultantID);
                   sol = solHome.findByPrimaryKey(solutionID);
                   Collection solutions = cons.getSolutions();
                   solutions.add(sol);
                   //sol.getConsultants().add(cons);
              } catch (FinderException ex) {
                   ex.printStackTrace();
                   throw new ProfilingException("failed to retrieve data from DB", ex);
    As you can see I am trying to use the CM Relationship in this methhod. Adding the solution to a consultant should be as simple as adding a solution object to the collection retrieved with the getSolutions accessor. The Container is expected to persist the information in my MAXDB database.
    However this doesn't happen.
    The ORM details as defined in the persistent.xml follows :

    I can't figure out what the problem is with the ORM mapping defined.
    On the database level I have three tables. Consultant maps to PFL_CONSULTANT, Solution to PFL_SAPSOLUTIONS. The third table PFL_CONS_SOL_MAP is the help table used for the relationship (having two fields, which are in fact foreign keys from the other two tables to express the assignment of solutions to consultants (where a consultant can have one or more solutions).

  • Can't get EJB injection to work, Please Help!

    I'm new to EJB 3.0, so I tried the "sample" EJB 3.0 stateless session bean sample from Oracle for JDev. (I'm using JDev 10.1.3.1.0 bld. 3984), very simple stuff:
    package project1;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface Hello {
    void sayHello(String inStr);
    and
    package project1;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless(name="Hello")
    public class HelloBean implements Hello {
    public HelloBean() {
    public void sayHello(String inStr) {
    System.out.println("Hello " + inStr );
    I can deploy the Bean w/ no problems to the embedded OC4J (in JDev) by just clicking "Run" on it, and I can successfully run the "Client" based on the "Older" implicit JNDI look up as follows:
    package project1;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import javax.naming.NamingException;
    public class HelloClient {
    public static void main(String [] args) {
    try {
    final Context context = getInitialContext();
    Hello hello = (Hello)context.lookup("Hello");
    Call any of the Remote methods below to access the EJB
    hello.sayHello("John Doe");
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException {
    // Get InitialContext for Embedded OC4J
    // The embedded server must be running for lookups to succeed.
    return new InitialContext();
    The above client code works fine, too.
    But when I try to run the following client (It compiles fine):
    package project1;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    public class HelloClient {
    @EJB private static Hello hello;
    public static void main(String [] args) {
    try {
    hello.sayHello("John Doe");
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    It DOES NOT work, the @EJB private static Hello hello seem to never get executed, as "hello" is always null and I get a null pointer exception on (hello.sayHello("John Doe"));.
    I even tried to be more explicit and tried:
    @EJB(name="Hello"") private static Hello hello
    with no luck either.
    What am I doing wrong?
    I read all the threads here and no one seems to have problems w/ the provided sample, I even did a fresh re-install of my JDev with no help.
    Thanks,
    Reza

  • Re: EJB Control not working with methods that contain arguments

    John,
    I'm not qualified to answer your EJB control question, but before you
    become too disillusioned with page flows I'd like to mention that the
    request scoped data form and and the return-to="page" issues you
    mentioned have been addressed for the next service pack. We've
    introduced the ability to specify a page flow scoped form bean which
    lives for the life of the page flow, and we've clarified the return-to
    values to include both "currentPage" and "previousPage" which should
    clarify the expected behavior.
    I hope you give it a try.

    Oh well guess you guys gave up on this one. Thats ok, I have utilized a workaround
    that forgoes your non working controls just like I have workarounds for your dataforms

    work etc.... At this rate I should have just used struts and JBoss.

    John,
    For a stateless session bean, the ejbCreate() method is called for
    every
    individual method call. This is because the bean instance is returned
    to the
    pool after every method call, it does not hold any state.
    I am still surprised about the behaviour you are seeing.
    Can you just attach your stateless session bean. You need not sendthe
    dependent files, since we only want to sniff the call made to the stateless
    EJB method, and are not concerned with the implementation.

    Anurag,
    I am using the GA release. My control looks identicle toTraderEJBControl.jcx
    except of course it is extending a different home and bean interface.The
    bean
    itself does not exacly match the traderbean but it does look very
    similar
    to MusicBean.java
    in the tutorialsApp. One thing that has me a bit confused is the
    fact
    the
    create()
    method is being called every time I make a method call on the control.Shouldn't
    the bean only be created once at the first method call and persistfor the
    life
    of the session?

    John,
    Have you tried running the ejbControl/TraderEJBClient.jws in SamplesApp.
    It
    does involve calling methods on the stateless EJB TraderEJB through
    an
    EJB
    control, which accept parameters and run fine.
    Could you also confirm that you are using the 8.1 GA release, andnot
    the
    beta.

    Raj,
    I cannot attach them here. I am not sure how you would test them
    anyway
    as I
    would have to send you my Oracle schema and you would have to
    set
    up
    a
    database
    instance. There is no way I can do that. If you could please
    send
    me an
    e-mail
    I can attach the relevant files in reply and you could take a
    look
    at them
    and
    see if you see any obvious problems.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I have created an EJB control on a stateless session bean.
    For
    some
    reason when
    I attempt to call a method on my control that takes any number
    of
    arguments I
    get a java.lang.IllegalArgumentException yet if I call a method
    that
    takes
    no
    arguments everything works fine. I used the debugger to walk
    through
    the
    code
    and have discovered that every time I call any method on the
    control
    the
    create()
    method gets called, this is exactly where the error is occurring.It is
    almost
    like the control is trying to pass my method args to the create()
    method
    instead
    of the method I am calling. I have tested all of the methods
    in
    the
    ejb
    by manually
    coding everything (getInitialContext ejb.create etc) in a .jsp
    and
    calling
    all
    of the methods within that .jsp. There they all work fine
    so
    I
    am
    pretty
    sure
    the control is doing something funky. Any ideas as to what
    is
    going
    on
    and how
    I can fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

    Was this issue ever resolved ? We are running into the same problem.
    The last response is "I'm not qualified to answer your EJB control question."
    Can this be escalated to someone who can please ?

  • Working Sample Code: File Download Servlet

    Pardon the cross-posting (Java Servlet Technology), but when I was researching this problem I found alot of people asking this question in here as well as in the servlet forum. So I thought this code would be helpful here too.
    Here is a complete working servlet for downloading virtually any type of file to a browser.
    It uses a file called application.properties to specify the location of the folder where the files to be downloaded reside. Of course you could modify this to allow the users to select the location as well.
    A sample URL to call the Servlet would look like this:
    http://localhost/website/servlet/DownloadAssistant?YourFileName.ext
    I tested this with varying filenames. It did have some issues if the file contained special characters like # symbol. This should be manageable however.
    Hope someone finds this useful.

  • Finding XML file from EJB doesn t work.

    Hi all:
    I have an EJB accesing a XML file to parse a XML document. The file is in the classpath, and sometimes the EJB finds it and sometimes not.
    What happens?
    When the EJB finds it, DOMParser method, parse(InputStream), doesn t work.
    I use this file to config DB connection externally for my BC4J (I don t use JTS).
    Thanks in advance.
    Joaqumn.

    Well, it won't work as iWeb has no import facility so cannot open html files.
    What you could do is upload the html file to wherever you are hosting your site and create a link to it from iWeb, or find another package similar to the one you are using at present that is for Mac rather then PC.
