EJB Hotel Sample Application - error running client

Hi
I am trying to run the GUI client interface in the EJB Hotel Enquiry and Reservation Application (using a single EJB). I have deployed the EJB jar file and had no errors but when I run the GUI client I get the following error whilst trying to read the list of hotels:

The Readme.html file is available with the ejbqlsample.jar downloadable (Extract and find the doc in Ejbql\docs\Readme.html) which is printable.
Or,
If you are trying to print the file directly from OTN site, you need to set the Page-Setup Orientation to 'Landscape'.

EJB Hotel samples

Hi,
I would like assistance in getting the EJB hotel samples from OTN to work with JDeveloper 3.2 against an 8.1.7 database.
The instructions seem to be for JDeveloper 3.1. I tried following them and got the travel schema loaded into the database but I am stuck at the part where you deploy stuff from JDeveloper. It appears that the menu items referred to in the instructions are not the same ones in JDeveloper 3.2. Also the HotelSystem.ejb file shows up with an icon that has a question mark on it. Has anybody tried to get these to work with JDeveloper 3.2 and oracle 8.1.7? I'm really interested in this example to work because it has both a GUI client and a servlet client sharing the same business logic code. Alternatively, if anyone knows of another example like this (GUI client and web client), I'd appreciate it if you sent me a pointer to it. Thanks in advance.

OTN developers are updating the Hotel sample apps to run under the current product versions. Work is ongoing, and when they finish you will be able to download revised files from OTN (they have not announced a release date). You might get a more immediate answer by posting your question in the Sample Code forum. The developers monitor that forum, and may be able to help you right away.

To provide a little context for the problem I am having:
I am following examples on how to use Essbase based on the book "Look Smarter Than You Are With Essbase" by Edward Roske and Tracy McMullen. I am new to Hyperion and Essbase, and am trying to learn about it and document what it can do. I used the the Sample Applicaiton, Basic database that came with the installation files and opened it in Excel by connecting to Essbase through Provider Services (all of this was done within Excel). The sample is based on a fictious company called The Beverage Company. I set-up a specific view that shows Sales of the Cola product in the East region, comparing the Actual sales with the Budget sales. The Sales of each city within East sum-up into a total for the East region. When I change the Sales in a specific city, like New York, I can successfully hit Submit Data (from the Hyperion menu within Excel), and then can see that it has been updated in the Essbase Administrative Services Console. However, when I try to calculate the data, throught Excel menu Hyperion > Calculation Options > Calculate (like the book says to do), I do not get the same result as the book says. Instead of updating the Total Sales for the East region, it reverts the data entry in the New York cell back to the original value. So essentially, any ability to enter in new data or change budget data, which is the purpose of Planning, is non-functional if I cannot get the Calculate the data I change. Have other people tried to do a similiar task of updating cell data in Excel and calculate it? If so, were the results successful?

BPM Simple Sample Application Error!!!

i have some problems with the bpm simple sample applications on our local sap nw ce system (7.1 ehp1 sp0)?
on the esworkplace i have download the *.sca file and have import this file into my nwds.
i following the simple sample documentation an define and configure the ERP and ERP_META Destinations on the nwds and our local sap nw ce system.
also i do the future steps which was described (service registry, proxy settings, ...).
on page 16 of the simple sample documetation is defined which Sofware Component has dependencies to other SC´s.
the SC "BPEM_BUILDT" depends on the SC "ESMP_BUILDT" and "COMP_BUILDT", the SC "COMP_BUILT" doesnt exist on my nwds (7.1 ehp1 sp0).
has everybody any idea why the SC "COMP_BUILT" not exist on my nwds???
still this absent SC i can deploy the bpm simple sample successful to our sap nw ce system.
now i do the post deployment steps for the bpm samples.
after this i call the simple sample application on my sap nw ce portal and can execute the "Initiate Equipment Phase In Process".
now i can see a new entry on my uwl, i open the uwl task.
at step 1, 2, 3 i change no data an click next, after step 3 (create equipment) i get the following error:

Cairgorm 3 sample applications - errors in unit tests

After the last update the sample applications started to work - they now even show images.
But the unit tests for Commands are reporting errors on my machine:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert []@56443a9 to XMLList.

Hi,
Could you confirm that you are running the unitTests using the InSyncBasicTestRunner.mxml? Also make sure that you don't have another version of FlexUnit4 on your classpath (Project->Properties->Flex Build Path) as the one shipped with the latest version of Flash Builder may conflict with the version of ASMock we are using at this time.
Let me know if you are still experiencing issues with the test suite.

Application error running air app

My air app is a sildeshow viewer which sends request to the
server and represents the response data using chart component.
I encounter a very tricky problem that when this app runs for
hours it will get a application error, as air dismiss all the
exception while running, I can not get the stacktrace. I tried
debug this app in flex builder, but still got a application error
from air debug launcher without exception stacktrace. That mean adl
crashed while I run my app.
The difficulty is that this error does not always occur. It
happens usually once a week while running , so I can not get the
location of the error generated.
The application error is kind of "memory could not be
written", so did anyone ever face this problem? And is there any
suggestion for me? I want to know what kind of exception could
crash adl.

This kind of error is bug. If you can capture a crash report
of some kind (use a web search to find out how to do that for your
OS) and file it as a bug, that'd be great.
That said, a common cause with applications that run for a
long time and use lots of data is that they run out of memory. You
might check your memory use; if it increases without bound, that's
a sign that your application is leaking.

Planning - Sample Application Error

Thanks for pointing out. I found hyperionPlanning_sysout.log in logs/service folder.
I can see - it's able to build sample dimensions but I noticed few errors
com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Database %s does not exist (1051032)
After this, it;s able to build all dimensions and then I noticed below errors
java.lang.IllegalStateException: member FY08 from dimension 38does not exist.
com.hyperion.planning.xml.HspHUBException: Rejecting Member Actual.
com.hyperion.planning.xml.HspHUBException: Rejecting Member Forecast.
com.hyperion.planning.xml.HspHUBException: Rejecting Member Plan.
com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Database %s does not exist (1051032)
There were errors during sample application initialization. Please check Planning log for details
Please can you advice where else i can check and which logs it refers.

SSO PL/SQL Sample Application Error

Hi,
I've tried the PL/SQL SSO demo application located in the PDK
October release.
Symptom:
The sample application shows the success page, even the user is
not authenticated by the Login Server.
Cause:
There's a code line in the SAMPLE_SSO_PAPP package to decide if
the l_user_info value is null. The original code line is:
IF l_user_info = NULL THEN
It's nonsense, of course.
We all know that in NULL arithmetics it always evaluates false.
Workaround:
You should correct the comparison to:
IF l_user_info IS NULL
It will be much better...

This problem is their in the early version of SDK.
The latest version has correct comparison with null

It generally throw this error when you fire the request just after starting the iAS, at this time this error means that your KXS is up but KJS is still not up. So just wait for some time and fire the request again. Everything will be fine.

The KJS engine should ideally start within a couple of minutes after starting the appserver. There are a couple of ways you can check this :
1. Do a ps -ef | grep kjs
2. Go to ias/logs directory and do a
"tail -f kjs_1_CCS0". If you see the message ENGINE-ready, then it means that the KJS engine is ready to accept requests.

Veeva Vacations Sample application - Error connecting to database

I am new to WebCenter and I am trying to go through the Veeva Vacations Sample. I am having trouble creating a New Database Connection as described on page 8 of the Veeva_Hands_on.pdf.
I enter the Host of *127.0.0.1*, Port of *8080* and when I test the connection I get the following error.
Io exception: Got minus one from a read call
Any suggestions?

I am trying to create a Database Connection in JDeveloper. Starting on page 8 of the veeva_hands_on.pdf it asks you to Define a Database Connection. On page 10 it provides the connection details. Host Name: localhost, JDBC Port 1521. When I try this I get the following errror:
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
localhost:1521:ORCL
So I tried changing it to Host Name: 127.0.0.1, JDBC Port: 8080, which is the Host and port that I see in the URL when I log into the Oracle Database Express Edition from the 10g Database Home page. With this configuration I get the following error:

I am running in a Windows environment with no Firewall software installed that I am aware of...

Error deploying sample application

Hi experts,
I am getting following error while deploying OAAM sample application:
Error: Unresolved Webapp Library references for "ServletContext@285871212[app:OAAMTester module:OAAMTester.war path:/OAAMTester spec-version:2.5]", defined in weblogic.xml [Extension-Name: oracle.oaam.libs, exact-match: false]
Even though i have deployed required libraries

Hi!
Seems application missing this library. You need to add this library to either application or to the Weblogic server.
Note:
Also don't duplicate the same library in application and the server. You can use following entry to force the app to use only web-inf/lib libraries.
