Ejb in JDeveloper with j2ee

Has someone a working example how i can deploy my ejb's for j2ee?

Hi Matthias,
If you mean a walkthrough or a guide on how you can build and deploy an EJB in 8i using JDev, I am working on one right now for JDev3.2.
BTW, JDev3.2 in coming up with full support for EJB1.1
Please get back to me on that and I'll make sure you get the Walkthrough for EJB in JDev3.2

  • How to use j2se 1.4 logging features with j2ee 1.3

    Hi,
    We have developed an EJB that will run in the j2ee 1.3 container of weblogic 5.0
    We would like to use the logging features of j2se 1.4 in our ejb.
    Can this be done ?
    How do I install and use j2se 1.4 a long side of j2ee 1.3 ?
    Is this a recognised configuration ?
    Many Thanks,
    Mark.

    Is it possible to install j2se 1.4 on the same machine
    that is running weblogic with j2ee 1.3 ? Yes.
    If it is.... How do we do it ?Just install it in different directory - the installer will do this for you by default anyway.
    How do we protect our code running in the j2ee 1.3 container from
    mistakenly using the classes provided with j2se 1.4 ?Thats what PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables are for. Read the tutorials on the left there for more information.
    Do we end up with 2 separate VMs one a implementing
    j2ee 1.3 and one a j2se 1.4 ?You end up with as many as you run.
    Every time you run java (java.exe on windows, just plain java on UNIX) you run the version of the VM that's on your PATH.
    It's quite normal to have (on the same machine) a 1.3 VM running Weblogic and a number of 1.4 VM's as clients of that Weblogic installation.
    I think I'm right in saying that 1.4 VM's are (in some cases) regarded by BEA as supported clients of a Weblogic server running in a 1.3 VM, but you'd have to check their e-docs site for exact details.

  • Urgent! Serious problem with J2EE Classloader!

    Hi all,
    I'm having a serious problem with j2ee Classloading.
    I have "inherited" a J2EE application where all business classes (invoked by the EJB) are placed in the Application's Server classpath (Weblogic 8.1.4).
    Very bad because every time a class is changed the a.s. must be restarted.
    So I re-enginereed the package putting the business classes in a jar that is referenced by the EJB's MANIFEST file.
    This way all the classes would be loaded by the EJB classloader and no need to start/stop weblogic.
    Unfortunately it's not such !! I discovered that all business classes are loaded via REFLECTION
    Object objCommand = objClass.newInstance();
    Object[] param = new Object[1];
    param[0] = aDataContainer;
    objDataContainerReturn = (DataContainer) objMethod.invoke(objCommand,param);
    and the application server cannot find them using the standard J2EE Classloader mechanism.

    at irma.business.service.LoginService.login(LoginService.java:79)
    On the other hand they're found if I put the classes on the application server classpath.
    Has anybody got advice for this ? Should I refactor the application giving up reflection ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Reflection uses the classloader as well so it should work fine.
    A common cause of a NoClassDefFoundError is something in a parent classloader that refers to something only available in a child loader.
    For instance, do you have any of your application classes which are in the $CLASSPATH but reference something that is only (now) in the business.jar in your ear?

  • NetBeans With J2EE versus Sun One Studio Enterprise

    What is the difference between NetBeans with J2EE and Sun One Studio Enterprise?
    Which of the two would be more appropriate to use for creating GUI applications? Which one would be more appropriate for an EJB based web application?

    Sun One Studio is Netbeans with additional "enterprise" functionality. As thing now stand, S1S is 1-2 releases behind NB, due to the time required to add the additional functionality. The added stuff is useful for large systems, and Sun supports S1S - but not NB.
    Depending on your specific requirements, either one might do the job.
    Both are now free, and it appears that they will stay that way.
    And both can use Application Server and Tomcat (or JBoss, etc in the the case of NB 5), and both work with J2EE.

  • Implemeting simple authentication with J2EE

    Hi All,
    i am converting a .NET web app to Java.
    The application is is a very simple one including registration page, login, logout , password recovery , etc..
    Registration and login also have a captcha on the page.
    The application also needs to create users and roles programmatically.
    All info should be stored in a DB
    I consider all these features to be basic enough that every web app will require them , but when researching J2EE approach to those , I am stumped by the lack of information and simple implementation mechanisms.
    After reviewing the docs for JAAS , Glassfish , J2EE , I still have not figured out a simple way to implement an architecture that will provide me with the features and flexibility described above, except for developing everything from scratch.
    can someone please recommend to me an approach or a technology (or a set of them), that will fulfill the java promise and allow me to avoid messing about with implementation and focus on the business logic.
    Thanks,
    Shay

    Hi Kaupo,
    ill repeat my findings for the benefit of other readers.
    1) JAAS forces you to use specific entry points , for example J_Secuirty for form authentication this approach wont work for an Ajax.RIA application.
    2) JAAS provides no programmatic control over authentication , and no support for authorization.
    3)some app servers complement JAAS by adding their own API's for programmatic control , but that forces you to another learning curve , and their implementations are very basic at best. for example Glassfish cant handle cross component sessions if you use a programmatic login.
    4) after writing numerous prototypes i also decided to stear clear from EJB , and stick with POJO, since EJB forces unnecessary complexity for very little benefit.
    5) the funniest thing i ran into was all the commotion about Spring , which at its best behaves like ASP.Net 4 years ago.
    yes i know that it plugs so many holes in the poor implementations that EJB provides , but i found that library to be overly complex , with benefits for simple web development , not so much for serious enterprise work , and definitely not for RIA/AJAX.
    one thing for sure ,Spring marketing is stellar :) , my recommendation would be to avoid the hype.
    6) Acegi was swallowed by Spring , and now if you want to use Acegi, you need to learn Spring .
    Results:
    my research led me to the Jsecuirty framework which i am now customizing for my own needs.
    1) its pojo based
    2) no need for all the noise that Spring generates .
    3) the framework is dedicated to 2 specific aspects authentication and authorization , and doesn't try to solve world hunger on the way(a problem which seems to plagues many open source products, please forgive the sarcasm)
    4) friendly dev team , which actually enjoys answering questions .
    5) the project is live , and i believe it will stay so for a while.
    6) proper documentation
    Thanks

  • How to connect oracle 8.0.1 with j2ee

    hi,
    the question i raise here is:
    I have j2ee 1.2.1 version. in this for cloudscape
    database I have cloudscape.jar files in lib/system.
    similarly, the documentation says that we have to
    obtain the driver for other databases and put it in this
    place. can somebody send me the driver for
    oracle 8.0 and above database or is it available
    somewhere in oracle database itself where we
    can copy it and put it.
    anyhow, i want to use oracle as backend while
    developing ejb with j2ee server.
    please somebody tell me step by step
    and send me the driver file if any to
    [email protected]
    thanks
    anand

    The oracle driver you want are in the classes111.zip file which would be on your machine if you have oracle installed .

  • Object vs Class base authorization concepts with J2EE/JAAS

    Hello,
    I'm evaluating J2EE and JAAS and I'm wondering how I can implement my business model using these techniques:
    As far as I understand JAAS, it's a class based authorization architecture. What I need is an object based architecture, specially when using CMP entity beans.
    Is it possible to design an object based access control based on JAAS and (perhaps) CMP entity beans?
    More detailed:
    Let's look at a simple (web-) application: A database contains only a table with documents, a document consists of an ID (primary key) and some plain text.
    I've got two EJB, one for editing documents and one for reading documents.
    Now I can easily design my application with J2EE and JAAS:
    An "editor" role with access on the edit bean and a "reader" role with access on the reader bean.
    The document class could be easily implemented as a CMP entity.
    BUT: What happens if I need a restriction on WHAT documents a user/role can edit/read, in other words, if authorization is not controlled by the EJB (code/class based) but by the ID (primary key/object based).
    E.g.
    User1 should have read access on Doc1, but not on Doc2.
    User2 should have read and write access on Doc2, but not on Doc1...
    As far as I understand JAAS, it's not possible to solve this problem using JAAS. If this is right, then I have to implement my own authorization system, JAAS could only be used for authentication. In this case, JAAS is just a tier in the security concept, just like different database users with restricted access to different tables and fields.
    If I'm right, then it's not possible (or possible but it makes no sense) to use CMP entity beans, because I can't use the "automatic" authorization pattern (I have to call my own access control system before invoking the entity bean, and so my clients loose some of their "leightweight").
    Regards,
    Jens

    Hi,
    I have study JAAS with J2EE for the last two months, don't know whether my ideas can help you. I believed JAAS was designed for java programmer who wanted to have security implement in there application but do not want to write the security themself. JAAS provided a robust system so that someone else can come alone to plug in the security module and security would be implemented.
    Base on your problems, I think what you should do is to have what know as a security access level implement in your object. When you uses JAAS to verify username & password, you can get user's access level as well maybe from LDAP server attribute, store in your principal. So whenever you want to check whethere you're a editor or author.
    You have to identify what is business logic and security logic access level is a business logic, therefore you will have to implement in your application tier. There is no perfect solution, but having these module will save you lots of coding and flexibility.
    Cheers,
    ps: Please correct me if my view are wrong.

  • How can I develop EJBs using JDeveloper?

    Hi all.
    How can I develop EJBs (entity beans) using JDeveloper and deploying them on WebLogic6x
    server?
    Oracle says that JDeveloper enables to build and deploy applications to the WebLogic
    6x, but I can't do that with Entity Beans(CMP).
    I established the connection to the WebLogic and to the DataBase and they work.
    JDeveloper generate ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml but not weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml.
    How can I build all the necessary xml's files? What I have to do? Exist a pluging
    to integrate JDeveloper with WebLogic?
    Thanks, and I hope your answers.
    Isra

    hello,
    in reports 6i the charts are created using oracle graphics which stores the chart definitions in a separate file (.OGD). there is not XML interface for graphics.
    with reports 9i and the introduction of the BIgraphBean the definition of the chart-properties is also done in XML.
    reports 9i will be available with iAS Release 2.

  • Calling Glassfish jdbc Datasorce in EJB 3.0 with @Resource annotation.

    I tried EJB 3.0 with netbeans and glassfish and "{color:#ff0000}+_ORACLE_+{color}". I wanted to link the oracle database to GLASSFISH server and I followed the instructions.After I clicked 'ping' button, it displayed as *{color:#339966}'PING SUCCEED".{color}*
    But I couldn't call my datasource from the eje stateless session bean with @Resource annotation.It resulted a dependency injection exception. Can some one tell me how to do this properly.
    {color:#ff0000}Thanks in Advance!!!!{color}

    Frank, yes, I can modify if it is necessary the datasource but, how can I say in the xxxx-jdbc.xml not to use JTA transactions when this data source is called inside a ejb 3.0 method?
    I'm using Jdev11g and the integrated Web Logic Server.

  • A Tip for using EJB 3.0 with WebLogic Ant Tasks

    I started out writing this up as a problem, but then I found the answer so I'm, posting a tip instead.
    When I tried to write an EJB [stateless] using EJB 3.0 in my legacy Weblogic ear project I started getting this error:
    <pre>
    No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'test'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
    </pre>
    This is why: wlcompile will put the class files in the App-Inf/classes directory unless it finds an ejb-jar.xml file in the META-INF directory for the module it is working on. With EJB 3.0, I wasn't using an ejb-jar.xml file because it was unnecessary. Later, Appc runs and it complains <b>because there are no classes module directory, they went into the shared ear folder instead.</b>
    Here's I how it working again: Use javac [not wlcompile] to compile the EJB 3.0 module and make sure that the class files go into the correct module directory. Then you can use wlappc to generate all the associated files for the EJB. I have sucessfully deployed an ear file that uses both EJB 2.x and EJB 3.0 with this approach.
    I wish Weblogic's own ejb3.0 sample application used their split directory deployment.
    Good Luck.
    John Aronson

    Hi John,
    I am working on development an enterprise application using EJB 3.0 on Weblogic 10.
    While developing, I am keeping all my classes (from ejb's as well as web) into APP-INF/classes directory. It is working fine for Web and ejb 2.0 packages, but ejb 3.0 packages, I get the following error when I keep my ejb 3.0 beans classes in APP-INF/classes directory.
    No EJBs found in the ejb-jar file 'customer'. Please ensure the ejb-jar contains EJB declarations via an ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor or at least one class annotated with the @Stateless, @Stateful or @MessageDriven EJB annotation.
    One solution is to keep the classes under customer ejb directory, but I wan tto keep all the classes in APP-INF/classes directory so that when using Eclipse IDE I can output all compiled sources into APP-INF/classes directory.
    Has anyone faced this situation? Any suggestions to fix this issue?

    Here's a good free e-book but without Netbean. It covers everything you would need to know about EJBs.

    The question is too vague to be answered. It's a design decision that needs more details.

    I have a Win2K computer with J2EE App Server 1.4. In this computer I stopped the IIS 5.0 in order to use the HTTP Server included with the product. I also run the DNS on the same machine with 3 domains. All name resolutions for these 3 domains work fine.
    Now I want to enter to any of the 3 domains freely and execute JSP apps. But I don't want to enter ports numbers like this:
    http://www.mytest.com:8081/hello.jsp
    I just want to enter:
    http://www.mytest.com/hello.jsp
    So I defined a new http-port listener pointing to the 80 port on this server. With no SSL support.
    Name: http-port80
    IP Address: 0.0.0.0
    POrt: : 80
    Then I defined a new virtual server using the http-port listener. I set the following fields:
    ID: mytest
    Hosts: www.mytest.com
    HTTP Listener: http-port80 (This is the name of the port listener)
    Everything seems to be fine. I can enter http://www.mytest.com and call the hello.jsp it's ok.
    But then I create a new virtual server for http://www.mytest2.com exactly as the one for the www.mytest.com, except for the host field: http://www.mytest2.com
    Then when I restart the app server I got the message on the log: "Port already in use".
    I don't want to enter http://www.mytest2.com:<port> but I've read that you cannot assign the same http-listener to 2 virtual servers, so I created another listener pointing to the same port 80. But I still have the same error.
    Any ideas how to handle this?
    Am I doing something wrong on the configuration?
    Thank you very much!!

    I can help you out with this, because I just solved this problem using the Apache web server 2.0 with mod_proxy and mod_proxy_http.
    this is how the configuration works.
    setup sunone creating one virtual host for each http-listener on a different port. and make sure these ports are any port except the 80. -- we will configure apache on this port and then use it as a reverse proxy to get to our hosts.
    like this
    virtual-listener-1 - port 8081
    virtual-listener-2 - port 8082
    virtual-listener-3 - port 8083
    virtual-host-1: www1.domain.com bind to: virtual-listener-1
    virtual-host-2: www2.domain.com bind to: virtual-listener-2
    virtual-host-3: www3.domain.com bind to: virtual-listener-3
    now download apache with all the modules http://www.apache.org
    in your httpd.conf add the following lines of code.
    #the code below will tell apache to enable the proxy for your host
    <IfModule mod_proxy.c>
    # Proxy Server directives. Uncomment the following lines to
    # enable the proxy server:
    ProxyRequests On
    <Proxy *>
    Order deny,allow
    Deny from all
    Allow from www1.domain.com
    Allow from www2.domain.com
    Allow from www3.domain.com
    </Proxy>
    # Enable/disable the handling of HTTP/1.1 "Via:" headers.
    # ("Full" adds the server version; "Block" removes all outgoing Via: headers)
    # Set to one of: Off | On | Full | Block
    ProxyVia On
    # End of proxy directives.
    </IfModule>
    NameVirtualHost *:80
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName www1.domain.com
    <Location />
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    ProxyPass http://sunoneserver:8081/
    </Location>
    </VirtualHost>
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName www2.domain.com
    <Location />
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    ProxyPass http://sunoneserver:8082/
    </Location>
    </VirtualHost>
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName www3.domain.com
    <Location />
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    ProxyPass http://sunoneserver:8083/
    </Location>
    </VirtualHost>
    note the sunone server indicates the server where you installed sunone-as (J2EE 1.4). this will give you the result you are looking for: all three of these sites will run on port 80 and each of them will respond to a different web application on sunone.
    there are naturally limits because when you run out of ports on your application server this won't work any more but then again there are about 60000 of those free and i don't think you will be able to run that many sites on one server anyway.
    Chris.

  • How to use jdeveloper with linux?

    how to use jdeveloper with linux?
    Hello, i've download jdeveloper, and i have java1.4 installed. But i can't run jdeveloper i have jdev.exe and jdev but when i put /usr/local/jdev/bin/jdev a have a message like file not found. I don't know what to do.
    Help please!!!
    Ori.

    You need to go to the directory where you unzipped JDeveloper, for example:
    cd opt/jdev/jdevj2eebase1013/jdev/bin
    Once there, do this:
    chmod +x jdev
    chmod +x ojc
    Now you can try this:
    nohup ./jdev &
    or simply
    ./jev
    I usually create a soft link in ~/bin
