ejb-name into web.xml automatically

Hello all,
I follow the OC4J's tutorial in >>Servlet Developer's Guide<< using Jdeveloper 903.
there is an EJB session bean named HelloBean.
From UML Diagram, I can get it, and write the HelloServlet.java to invoke session bean.
now it is Ok. Jdeveloper online help says that EJB reference <ejb-ref> can be written into web.xml file,
but it doesn't do it. I manually insert <ejb-ref>...</ejb-ref> into web.xml.
and change <ejb-name> and <ejb-ref-name> in ejb/HelloBean.
I want to know how to do this automatically by Jdeveloper 903.
and how to change session bean's <ejb-name> from HelloBean into ejb/HelloBean?
Thanks.
Wu JianHua.

Automatic insertion of ejb-ref in web.xml whenever EJB dependencies are included in WAR deployment profile.
Select Tools | Preferences
Select Deployment in the left hand tree
Select the check box for "Automatically Fill in <ejb-ref> elements in web.xml
You can hit F1 hel on the above panel to view the help.
From help system
Automatically Fill In <ejb-ref> Elements in web.xmlBy default, JDeveloper automatically inserts corresponding elements to the web module deployment descriptor file, web.xml, whenever EJB dependencies are included in the WAR profile. If an EJB dependency is subsequently removed, however, JDeveloper will leave the elements in web.xml instead of removing them. Clear this checkbox to disable automatic insertion of elements in the web.xml file. Clearing this field prevents extraneous <ejb-ref> elements from appearing in the web.xml. However, do this with caution, since you'll have to make sure that the web.xml file is complete and accurate before deployment.

  • How to generate web.xml automatically?

    Hi all!
    I am new to servlets. I have configured the tomcat 5.5.9 with eclipse 3.0 succussfully. It is generating the class files. But I want to know how to generate web.xml through it.
    Thanks in advance...
    Code Snooker

    AFAIK, there's no template for generating web.xml.
    Navigate to <TomcatInstallDir>/webapps/
    You would find lot of directories - each one being a web application.
    Navigate to any one, say ROOT and then to the WEB-INF directory
    under that.
    You would find a web.xml.
    Copy it into your <web-application-dir>/WEB-INF folder and make necessary changes
    cheers,

  • Is there any alternative for adding servlet name in Web.xml?

    Hi,
    I am new to Weblogic and I have an application(Ear file) which was developed
    in Websphere and I am trying to install in weblogic 8.1. I have installed my application
    in Websphere without adding servlet entries in Web.xml and it was working fine.
    I have installed the same Ear file in Tomcat and added the
    following to make all my all servlets work.
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>invoker</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/servlet/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    Is there any alternative of doing like that in WebLogic instead of adding each
    and every servlet entry in web.xml because my application has around 200 servlets

    Is Servlet servlet same as weblogic.servlet.ServletServlet?

  • Automate creation of web.xml file for tomcat 4.1.29

    hi , this is with ref to Tomcat 4.1.29, if i am correct, each Servlet in the application has to be mentioned in the web.xml file for the Tomcat to know about it. Is there any way to automate the creation of web.xml file , depending on the contents of the Servlet folder of the application. Any way to escape from writing each Servlet name in web.xml file.

    Hello,
    Maybe you should check if you can use Ant tool to do
    that. I am not sure if it can help u.

    http://ant.apache.org/
    It will, specially if used in conjunction with XDoclets :

    XDoclet has Ant tasks to generate web.xml files.

              <role-name> is usually used for security of a resource in a web application. This is generally used in conjunction with <security-role-ref> and <security-constraint> tag in the deployment descriptor.

  • Eclipse, WTP, Servlets and Web.xml

    I wonder if you could help me.
    I am using Eclipse and Web Tools Platform.
    In eclipse, when I create a Servlet, I believe the servlet details (such as name, class, url-pattern) should be included into web.xml file automatically. However, this is not happening.
    Would you know how I can configure Eclipse and WTP to automatically write Servlets details into web.xml files.
    Thanls

    Thanks for the reply
    I have Eclipse 3.2 and WTP 1.5
    Yes, I am creating my Servlet in a project under the Dynamic Web Projects.
    I deploy my WAR file using the 'Export' menu.
    Now, I have manually added the servlet details into the web.xml file:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>HelloWorld</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.mycom.HelloWorld</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>HelloWorld</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/HelloWorld</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    I am accessing the servlet as:
    http://localhost:9090/MyFirstServlet/HelloWorld
    But I still get HTTP 404 error when accessign HelloWorld servlet. I am not sure what I am missing.

  • Do we need to put the following code in the web-xml for the project to run

    Hi^^^,
    actually I have created a project in Eclipse WTP and I am running it from remote server. Its giving me 404 error when I tried to run it.
    I know 404 error is generally due to some error in deployment descriptor.
    I am going through this tutorial for creating project in eclipse WTP
    this says that I need to include the following code in web-xml. Please look at the quotes below
    "Web modules in J2EE has a deployment descriptor where you configure the web application and its components. This deployment descriptors is called the web.xml. According to the J2EE specification, it must be located in the WEB-INF folder. web.xml must have definitions for the Servlet and the Servlet URI mapping. Enter the following lines into web.xml:"
    "Listing 2. Deployment Descriptor web.xml"
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Snoop Servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.eclipse.wtp.tutorial.SnoopServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>Snoop Servlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/snoop/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    My question is, it is necessary to include the above lines between <servlet> and </servlet-mapping> in web-xml
    thanks and regards,

    I know 404 error is generally due to some error in deployment descriptor. what's the url you've put.
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Snoop Servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.eclipse.wtp.tutorial.SnoopServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet> Every Servlet has to have a <servlet></Servlet> tag in the web.xml
    the <servlet-name>is for the naming the servlet and the <servlet-calss>is for class file of the servlet in your case the .class file is to be in the package of tutorial,if it's not then how the container will no where the calss file is
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>Snoop Servlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/snoop/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>You type something in your url likk http://localhost:8080/webappname (Tomcat server),so for url mapping instead of typing the entire class file name ,you just enough have to type what you've put in the <url-mapping> tag and it has to be inside of <servlet-mapping>
    I think the problem is in <url-pattern> change it like /snoop<url-pattern>
    My question is, it is necessary to include the above lines between <servlet> and ></servlet->mapping> in web.xmlSo now you think whether you need something inside <servlet>and </servlet-mapping>

  • Security constraint in Web.xml of tomcat

    Hi
    I have a web-application running on tomcat . Inside the context folder i have several directories having some pre-defined configuration files . But the user is able to directly access them by typing the path including the fileName in the URL ( I have disabled the listings property however)
    How can i prevent accessing the specific files .... I tried using
    <security-constraint>
    <display-name>Security constarint</display-name>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>Java Application</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/folder/*</url-pattern>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>tomcat</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>tomcat</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    <realm-name>OnJava Application</realm-name>
    </login-config>
    This seems to be working fine , but when the user enters the wrong security info thrice , 401 error page is coming instead i want my custom page . Hence i configured an error page for 401 code which overwrited the earlier behavaiour ie.. that BASIC authentication popup is not coming
    Can any one let me know how to go about this

  • Forte & web.xml problem

    Hi there,
    I hope what I have is a simple problem to fix. I'm running Forte For Java 4 and developing a web application. When I run a servlet (although it works fine) I am getting a run-time error:
    ContextConfig[] Configuration error in application web.xml
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Servlet mapping specifies an unknown servlet name ChooseUnit
    This has something to do with the fact that I renamed one of my servlets and it didn't update web.xml (when I ran this servlet, it kept trying to use the servlet's old name in the URL). I went into web.xml and added this servlet's new name manually but it still didn't work, so I deleted the offending servlet, making sure that its servlet mappings were also gone from web.xml.
    I then made a new servlet of a different name, and every time I run it I get the above error, even though the servlet name in the error no longer exists, nor any reference to it in web.xml.
    Anyone got a suggestion as to how to fix this? It seems to be a bug particular to Forte.
    Thanks.
    Gillian Klee

    Never mind, it seems to have sorted itself out with a reboot.

  • Web.xml configuration for initial servlet load

    Hi all,
    I have heard of entering some tag into web.xml file (deployement descriptor) if we need some servlets to be loaded wheneve the app server starts or restarts. can some body help me regarding what to write in web.xml.
    thanks in advance

    I am having some problems with the same issue although specifying the load-on-startup param is not working for.
    Here is snipet of the web.xml:
    <servlet id="Servlet_1206024889339">
    <servlet-name>ContentServer</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>COM.FutureTense.Servlet.SContentServer</servlet-class>
    <init-param id="InitParam_1206024988781">
    <param-name>inipath</param-name>
    <param-value>/data/WebSphere/ContentServer</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    This however doesn't init the contentServer servlet. Is there anythign else i need to check? I am using websphere5-1.
    I saw somewhere you might have to specify a loadonstartup=true? Where is this set?
    I know the app is reading the right web.xml because i put in a bad value and saw the error being outputted in the startup log.
    There are some servlets being initialised on startup but not the ones I want. These servlets don't seem to be in the web.xml.

  • How to include the file name as an XML field

    Hi,
    I'm using a file adapter for process a flat file and convert it into an XML. Does anybody knows how to include the file name into an XML field.
    Ex.
    I process the file named <b>XXIMN21022007.txt</b> and I need an XML like:
    <MT_FILE>
    <field1></field1>
    <field2></field2>
    <field3></field3>
    <filename><b>XXIMN21022007.txt</b></filename>
    </MT_FILE>
    Regards
    Gonzalo

    Just go for dynamic configuration.
    Check the sender file adapter to write the filename in the header (as explained in Michal's blog) and then read that header in some mapping.
    U can use that even in simple message mappings.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/03612cdecc6e76e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
    Your code for the filename tag would be something like:
    <i>DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        “http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File”,
        “FileName”);
    return conf.get(key);</i>

  • Do I must put ALL my servlets inside the web.xml file?

    Hello everybody,
    I am trying to migrate from Webshere to TOMCAT a project with severals packets, one of those have 15 servlets and some classes.
    Is there any way to use the servlets without have to declare each one inside the web.xlm file ?
    Thanks in advance.

    All servlet definitions go into web.xml, though not the actual servlets themselves :) . Say if you wanted servlet A to have a different mapping you would define the mapping in web.xml to something other than the standard one.
