Ejb without application server

I've tried to deploy simple enterprise java beans inside Oracle. I can call them from the same server where Oracle server runs, but I am not able to call them from my PC client.
Do I have to use Oracle Application Server or can I avoid it?
Thanks in advance.

You don't need an Application Server to access the eJB's running in Oracle8i.
Make sure that your client program (running on PC) has the classpath set properly with client jars generated during the deployment of ejb's

  • Deploy 9i Forms without Application Server ?

    I wonder, whether I could deploy a Forms 9i Application without the use of the Application Server. Can anybody tell me, whether it is necessary to purchase any Oracle 9i Application Server licences, just because I want to deploy a simple Forms 9i application ?
    - Markus

    I am developing forms 9i and reports 9i applications WITHOUT APPLICATION SERVER. I HAVE ONLY DEVELOPER SUITE 9i.
    I have installed Dev suite 9i on middle tier. Forms services and Reports services are installed with Dev suite 9i.
    I develop applications on my desktop and Install them on client machines where no Dev suite or AS installed.
    Please mention what is the trouble you are having and I might serve you, if you are having the same problem that I HAD.

  • Servler without application server

    Hello,
    Can I use a Servlet without application server and only with web server?
    I`m working in UNIX and Netscape web server.

    Yes - you only need a servlet engine to work with your webserver - you don't need a full-blown app server. Try Tomcat:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/
    Which already has its own "built in" servlet support (and it's free!!)

  • Pool without application server

    its possible to use pooling connection without application server, if ok, whos start the pool in the beging (client application?or.....)
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Yes it is possible but you have to implement the classes to manage the Pool or just using a third party tool like the one you can find at : http://bitmechanic.com.
    Cheers.

  • Can we Run 10g Forms & Reports without Application Server

    Currently We are using form 5 and reports 3.5
    we are willing to upgrade .
    we are told that we can upgrade only to 10g developer suit
    and for that Application Server is must
    Our requirement is for LAN based application only
    Do we have to go-in for application Server
    DOes the 10g forms and 10g reports have Form server /report server which can help us to run application using Browser but without IAS
    CK

    Chaand,
    for production environments you must run Forms and Reports through Oracle Application Server as there no longer is a client-server runtime. For development puposes tehre is a HTTP server in Oracle Developer Suite that is used to run both servers.

  • Failing EJBs without killing server?

              Hi All,
              Is there anyway to fail an EJB to cause failover without actually killing the WLS its deployed on?
              I tried undeploying an EJB using the console but that didn't work.
              I wish to verify EJB failover without the server going down.
              Thanks in advance,
              Andrew Quinan

    Killing the server is one way to cause the RemoteException.
              EJB automatic failover can only happen in idempotent stateless session bean
              or read only entity bean. For other ejbs, you have to write special code in
              the CLIENT side to implement the failover.
              You can write special ejb method that can generate the RemoteException, in
              your client side code, you can catch such exception and replace the remote
              interface and make call again.
              Hope this can help.

    Please tell me how deploy the EJB in security on the Sun Java System Application Server 9? So that, The client must set the user name and password when lookup the ejb object. Like the following:
    props.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"admin")
    props.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"1234");

  • EJB Supporting Different Application Server

    I have a task to develop an session/entity bean(for both select and insert) which needs to be called from both WebSphere Application Server(4.x) and Resin Application Server
    For your information - WAS uses EJB(1.1) and Resin uses EJB(2.0).
    I want to create this session/entity bean which works on both application server without doing any change in code. Is that really possible. If YES - HOW ? Please suggest if you really know anything on this topic. Thanks.
    Zahid.

    So - Which Entity Bean should I use. CMP or BMP. I would prefer CMP as I do not have to write code for callback methods. Cracker - could I contact you. If yes - please email me at [email protected] I really need help on this and want to complete this. Won't take much of your time. Thanks.

    I want to dispaly a file from Application server without downloading it to my local system.
    i tried the below method but it didn't work.
         CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
          EXPORTING

            DEFAULT_DIRECTORY      = L_DIR

    Hi,
    Use open dataset to read file from application server.
    try like this sample code:
    data : p_file like ibipparms-path.
    data : rec(350) type c.
    data:  g_delimiter(1) type c value ','.
    maintain the file path in p_file. then
    open dataset p_file for input in text mode encoding default.
       IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
    do n times.
    READ dataset p_file into rec.
    split rec at g_delimiter into your internal table fields like it-id it-name it-age.
    append it.
    clear it.
    enddo.
    close dataset p_file.
    Now you have the data in internal table it.

    from the EJB, the first one initializes a database connection, the second
    one executes a query against a SQL Server database and the third method
    closes the connection. The exception occurs while calling the third method.
    The EJB was working fine in WebSphere Application Server 4.0, but we are
    helping this customer migrate to WebSphere Application Server 6, but this
    error arised.
    The EJB is defined as follows in the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor:
      <session id="HistClinicaPP">

    boundary="BeanMethod" resolver="Application" unresolvedAction="Rollback"/>
      </ejbExtensions>I tried copying the configuration from WAS 4.0, the only piece of the 4.0.x
    descriptor missing in the ext file is <structure>, since I couldn't find a
    matching property in Rational Application Developer 6.0 for WAS 6.0. This is
    what the ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi in WAS 4.0 contains for this bean:
      <ejbExtensions xmi:type="ejbext:SessionExtension"
    xmi:id="SessionExtension_17" timeout="600">
        <enterpriseBean xmi:type="ejb:Session"

    invocationLocale="CALLER"/>
        <localTran xmi:id="LocalTran_17" boundary="BEAN_METHOD"
    unresolvedAction="ROLLBACK"/>
      </ejbExtensions>I am not an expert in EJBs, so I don't know how to correct this problem, any
    help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jorge Gomez

    Hi,
    According to WAS 6 , every opened connection has to be commited (or rolledback) explicitly (didnt try autocommit) before closing. Even if all you have done with that connection is a SELECT Query.
    This has apparently solved the same problem I was getting. implement it and see whether it helps you.

  • Accessing remove EJBs while debugging using the Embedded Application Server

    I'm trying to configure to debug a multi-tier application (servlets + EJBs) where a servlet accesses EJBs set up on a second OC4J application server. I've set up rmi.xml in the embedded application server to reference my second application server by adding the line.

  • Which application server supports EJB 3 and Java EE 5?

    Hi all,
    I want to develop an application using EJB 3.
    I was planning on using JBOSS 4.0.4 as application server, but I am not sure whether EJB 3 is fully supported.
    Which application server supports EJB 3 and Java EE 5?
    Thanks

    Just install it using the EJB3 profile in the installer. Don't use the "All" profile
    and think EJB3 is included in it :)
