EJB3 & Web Services

Hello everybody. I've been working with JEE using Eclipse and JBoss. Right now i have an "shopping cart application" which uses entity and session beans (stateless ant statefull). I'm using JSF technology for the web deployment. Everything works fine. Now, I want to add web services to the application. I've already packed a Stateless bean which exposes a web service fucntionality. Here it is:
@Stateless()
@WebService()
public class CarritoWS implements ILocalCarritoWS, IRemotaCarritoWS
    @EJB(name = "uniandes.cupi2.aplicacionIntermediaria.services.IServiciosProductos")
    private IServiciosProductos serviciosProducto;
    @WebMethod
    public String getCategoriesProducts(@WebParam String categories)
        String response = "";
        try
            response = serviciosProducto.findByCategory(categories).toString();
        catch (PersistenciaException e)
            e.printStackTrace();
        return response;
    }Well, here is the client:
String endpointURL = "http://localhost:8080/intermediario/CarritoWS?wsdl";
        String targetNS = "http://webservices.aplicacionIntermediaria.cupi2.uniandes/jaws";
        URL wsdlURL = new URL(endpointURL);
        QName serviceName = new QName(targetNS, "ICarritoWSService");
        Service service = Service.create(wsdlURL, serviceName);
        ICarritoWS carrito = (ICarritoWS) service.getPort(ICarritoWS.class);
        String response = carrito.getCategoriesProducts("deportivo");
        System.out.println(response);The wsdl file generated exposes everything OK, but I got an exception when accesing the webservice:

Hi
You seem to be mixing JWSDP and JBossWS libs in the client classpath. Try removing the JWSDP libraries and solely rely on the JBOSS_HOME/client/*.jar libraries. You may also take a look at the jbossws samples that ship with the distribution.

  • EJB3 Web Service - basic authentication

    I have a very simple EJB @WebService in an EJB jar and placed in an EAR. The web service has an @RolesAllowed annotation on a role called WSS_USER.
    I have a weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file containing..
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <weblogic-ejb-jar xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0 http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0/weblogic-ejb-jar.xsd">
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>TestWebServiceEJB</ejb-name>
    <enable-call-by-reference>True</enable-call-by-reference>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>WSS_USER</role-name>
    <principal-name>WSS_USER</principal-name>
    </security-role-assignment>
    </weblogic-ejb-jar>
    I have created the correct WSS_USER principal within Weblogic.
    If I test the web service using SoapUI I get:
    <message>[EJB:010160]Security Violation: User: '&lt;anonymous>' has insufficient permission to access EJB: type=&lt;ejb>, application=Test, module=Bedrock.server.services.local.jar, ejb=TestWebServiceEJB, method=test, methodInterface=ServiceEndpoint, signature={}.</message>
    How do I get basic authentication working with this web service?
    In glassfish I add the following into sun-ejb-jar.xml and it works fine:
    <ejb>
    <ejb-name>TestWebServiceEJB</ejb-name>
    <webservice-endpoint>
    <port-component-name>TestWebServiceEJB</port-component-name>
    <endpoint-address-uri>ctx/TestWebServiceEJB</endpoint-address-uri>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    </login-config>
    </webservice-endpoint>
    </ejb>
    Is there an equivalent in weblogic?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I was hoping it could be achieved without weblogic specific annotations?
    What I'm after is an example of a simple EJB3 web service in a jar, inside an ear, with no war file.
    I'd then like BASIC authentication on that web service.
    Something that can be dropped into any app server.

  • Customize -java-wsdl-mapping.xml with EJB3 web service

    Using OC4J 10.1.3, I have an EJB that I am exposing as a web service using JSR-181 annotations. Is it possible to customize the generated <ServiceName>-java-wsdl-mapping.xml file? I tried putting my own version in META-INF/ of my ejb jar, but it didn't seem to pick up on it.

    I was told the product manager and/or developers from Oracle watched this board. Doesn't anyone have a response to this?

  • Debug EJB3 web service

    according to SOA developer guide, it's very easy to create web service for EJB 3 simply by add annotation. what do I have to do to debug the created web service with the Jdeveloper embed OC4J. anybody could give me steps which I can follow?
    Thanks

    You can set a break-point in the source code of the EJB and hit the debug button.
    You can also monitor the SOAP messages using the HTTP Analyzer in JDeveloper (under the view menu).

  • EJB3 Web service - auto generate artifacts when deployed?

    Hello. I apologize in advance if this question was asked already, but I was unable to find an answer.
    Is there a way to tell WebLogic 10 to auto generate all of the required artifacts for a webservice (when deployed) instead of having to manually run the jwsc ant task on each web service class file?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    It is now working
    Regenerating everything form scratch made the stuff working
    From my experience:
    - the function you call in the web service should be available in remote and local interface
    - ArrayList or [] both works. The classes returned inside the List should implement Serializable
    - you do not have anything to change in the VI or any SAP file

  • Oc4j and ejb3.0 as web services

    Hi,
    I have deployed a ejb3.0 jar with following files.
    Interface :
    package samples.webservice;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    *@WebService*
    public interface HelloRemote
    public String echo(String input);
    Bean
    package samples.webservice;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding;
    *@WebService(name = "HelloRemote",serviceName = "HelloWorldService")*
    *@SOAPBinding(style = SOAPBinding.Style.RPC)*
    *@Remote(HelloRemote.class)*
    *@Stateless (name = "HelloRemote")*
    public class HelloWorld implements HelloRemote
    *@WebMethod*
    public String echo(String input)
    return input+"Hello";
    The ejb jar does not contain any deployment descriptor. I deployed it on OC4J 10.1.3.5. and Java-6.
    It got deployed without any error.
    But I am not able to see the WSDL using url.
    My ejb jar name is TestOc4j.jar
    At whct url I will be able to see the WSDL.
    I checked the admin console, under web services tab, there is no entry. I think it should show my Ws entry.
    Am I missing any step. The same WS (as ejb3) worked fine with the jboss6.
    Regards
    Ganesh

    Hi,
    you could use TopLink exposed by a EJB 3.0 session bean and use web services annotation of JSR-181 (available as a library) to expose it as a Web Service. In Business Components you expose methods to WebService by creating a remote configuration. I've done TopLink/EJB 3.0 and found it straight forward to use. In both cases the information to query from row 50 . 125 needs to be passed in by the Webservice.
    For PLSQL you may want to look at PLSQL WebServices (there are OBE availabe on the OTN website for JDeveloper -- look in the 10.1.2 or 9.0.5 section)

  • How to combine ejb3 module outside web service .ear folder?

    I try to integrate web service and ejb3 module. My EJB3 module is outside web service .ear folder.
    How can i integrate web service and outside ejb3 module?
    In application.xml of .ear folder, I typed
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ASCII"?>
    <application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:application="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/application_5.xsd" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/application_5.xsd" version="5">
    <display-name>TotalWebTestEAR</display-name>
    <module>
    <web>
    <web-uri>TotalWebTest.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>TotalWebTest</context-root>
    </web>
    </module>
    <module>
    <ejb>EJBLoginModule.jar</ejb>
    </module>
    </application>
    But exception occurs!
    Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: EJBLoginModule.jar module listed in application.xml does not exist within .ear
    Pls give me some advice! Thanks in advance
    Best Regards!

    Obviously, you cannot do this. What you are doing is adopt a child on paper and then deny it access to your house.
    Either integrate the EJB into the EAR, or communicate with the EJB using its remote interface.

  • Expose ejb3 as jaxws web service

    Dear,
    I want to expose my ejb3 stateless sessionbean as a jaxws web service (in order to have versioning for production redeployment high availability). I followed these docs a bit: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/webserv/jws.html
    excerpt of my class :
    @Session(ejbName="myWSBean")
    @MethodIsolationLevelPattern(pattern="*", isolationLevel=IsolationLevel.TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED)
    @JndiName(remote="...")
    @RoleMapping(principals="MYUSER", roleName="MYUSER")
    @TransactionAttribute(value=TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
    @Stateless
    @WebService(name="MyServicePort", serviceName="MyService",
    targetNamespace="http://.../.../MyInterfaceService")
    public class MyWSBean implements SessionBean{
    When I try to build the web service with the jws ant task, I get following errors:
    [jwsc] [ERROR] - The annotation weblogic.ejbgen.RoleMapping is not allowed on ...MyWSBean because it is a JAX-WS type web service.
    [jwsc] [ERROR] - The annotation weblogic.ejbgen.Session is not allowed on ...MyWSBean because it is a JAX-WS type web service.
    Seems its not allowed to mix jaxws and ejb3 annotations. What is the way to go to expose my ejb3 bean as a resource?
    thx

    Thx for your reply.
    I did it differently: Creating a EJB3 bean (using the weblogic.ejbgen annotations) and afterwords creating a seperate file for the JAXWS webservice and there injecting the bean via the EJB annotation. Works smoothly.
    Although I would rather use 1 file for both sessionbean and web service
    Therefore, like I said, in the EJB3 sessionbean I now use following ejbgen annotations:
    @Session(ejbName="...",
                   runAs="...", runAsIdentityPrincipal="...",
                   createAsPrincipalName="...", passivateAsPrincipalName="...",
                   transTimeoutSeconds="7200", enableCallByReference=Bool.TRUE,
                   useCallerIdentity=Bool.FALSE)
    @MethodIsolationLevelPattern(pattern="*", isolationLevel=IsolationLevel.TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED)
    @RoleMapping(principals="...", roleName="...")
    Not sure why this is 'ejbgen' annotations, instead of just ejb or javaee general annotations... Arent there any more standard annotations or so in order to specify these configurations (rolemapping, MethodIsolationLevelPattern, Session, runas, createasprincipalname...) ?
    thanks

  • Invoking web service from EJB3 throw java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

    I used JAX-WS to develop a web service and deployed it on webloigc 10.3.5. The web service was invoked from web application and it worked fine. However, when I tried to invoke the web service from a stateless session bean, java.lang.IllegalArgumentException was thrown out and complained that "*interface gov.fema.web.nimcast.service.client.UpdateEmailPortType is not visible from class loader*". I tried following three ways to solve the problem
    1. put the web service client artifacts under APP-INF/classes of the EAR
    2. bundle the web service client artifacts into a jar file and put it under APP-INF/lib of the EAR
    3. put the web service client artifacts into the same jar file of the EJB
    However, none of the above approaches worked out, every time same exception thrown out.
    I used following commands in my ant script to generate the web service client artifacts
    <path id="deploypathref">
    <fileset dir="${wl.server}">
    <include name="server/lib/weblogic.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/xqrl.jar"/>
    <include name="server/lib/webservices.jar"/>
    <include name="../modules/features/weblogic.server.modules_10.3.3.0.jar"/>
    </fileset>
    </path>
    <taskdef name="clientgen"
    classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.ClientGenTask" >
         <classpath refid="deploypathref"/>
    </taskdef>
    <clientgen
                   wsdl="http://${wls.hostname}:${wls.port}/nimscast/UpdateEmailService?WSDL"
                   destDir="${path.service}/src"
                   packageName="gov.fema.web.nimcast.service.client"
                   type="JAXWS"/>
                   <javac
                   srcdir="${path.service}/src" destdir="${path.assembly}/ear/APP-INF/classes"
                   includes="**/*.java"/>
    and following is the detail information from the stack trace:

    No you haven't, because
    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.example.www.Sample_PortType a relevant class can still not be found and Java really is not going to lie to you; this class is not on your application's classpath so it is either missing or put in the wrong place. Note that missing classes can be caused by you forgetting to properly redeploying your application - its usually something silly like that. Figure out what you did wrong and correct your mistake.
    The fact that you have to mention that you "setup the classpath" is questionable; in web applications you don't touch the classpath at all. So what exactly did you do?

  • EJB3 Entities + Web Services: A cycle is detected in the object graph

    I have a Java EE 5 application, using Glassfish v2. My ejb project consists of a handful of entity beans, session beans, and this problem arose when I added a new web service.
    Here is a simple scenario borrowed from another forum post with a similar problem:
    Let's say I have a web service called getVehicle(int vehicleId) that returns a Vehicle object.
    Vehicle has a java.util.Set of Wheel objects.
    The Wheel object has a reference to its owner (Vehicle).
    The issue is this bi-directional relationship causes a cycle that the JAX system doesnt like.
    Caused by: javax.xml.bind.MarshalException
    - with linked exception:
    [com.sun.istack.SAXException2: A cycle is detected in the object graph. This will cause infinitely deep XML: org.test.Vehicle at 13c6308 -> org.test.Wheel at 15880be -> org.test.Vehicle at 13c6308

                  at com.sun.xml.ws.message.jaxb.JAXBMessage.writePayloadTo(JAXBMessage.java:299)

    The one bit of information that I found that might fix this doesn't do much for me:
    https://jaxb.dev.java.net/guide/Mapping_cyclic_references_to_XML.html
    What options do I have to make my soap method work?
    Thanks,

  • EJB3 Creating Web Services with Complex Return Types

    Hi
    Not sure if this is the right place, but hoping someone can help!
    I have an entity bean that has a collection (list<Address>) of sub-entities. I have then created a session bean to retrieve the Business and populate it's children.
    I then expose this as a web service and although it works and I get appropriate XML out, the WSDL of the deployed service is not as I would like.
    For example:
    The return type is
    <complextype name="Business">
    <sequence>
    <element name="id" type="int"/>
    <element name="addresses" type="ns1:list"/>
    </sequence>
    </complextype>
    <complextype name="Address">
    <sequence>
    <element name="id" type="int"/>
    <element name="addresses1" type="string"/>
    <element name="addresses2" type="string"/>
    <element name="addresses3" type="string"/>
    </sequence>
    </complextype>
    ns1:list is included as a separate schema as a complex extension of the base "collection"
    So, even though the Address type is there it is not referenced from Business.
    So, when I'm calling the Web Service from BPEL or ESB, I have not got the ability to map adequately back from the response.
    I have tried a whole bunch of ways of getting this to work, but so far to no avail...
    Has anyone seen this before, or can I somehow override the mapping from the Entity to the WSDL?
    Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Thanks. We are using a Java Proxy to consume the web service as we need to use JAX-WS handlers. We created data control from the service stub that was created by the proxy. Our issue is with the response XML which comes as a complex type. Also, the data control is understanding the complex type and is creating the structure right. The problem is when we drag that control on a JSF page. No data is displayed. We think that we are not traversing the complex object properly which is creating the issue.
    I understand that you answer related to the input is applicable to output as well. We can change the structure by flattening it but we thought that in 11G there is some new features where we can use the complex types out of the box without any change. Is that true? Also, any luck in finding the documents (broken links) on your blog page?

  • Web services and EJB3 @resource annotation

    This block of code works fine when NetworkViewBean is left as a @Stateless session bean.
    Once I have JDeveloper 10.1.3 production expose it as a web service, I can no longer call the Entity Manager @Resource.
    I always get a java.lang.NullPointerException returned.
    Any ideas?? thanks for your help!
    @WebService(name = "NetworkViewWS", serviceName = "NetworkViewWS")
    public class NetworkViewBean {
    @Resource
    private EntityManager em;
    public NetworkViewBean() { }
    public String getDeviceVendorModel(String name) {
    if (name == null || name.length()== 0) return "Null Input Parameter Specified";
    NetDevice N= null;
    try {
    N= (NetDevice)em.createNamedQuery("findByDeviceName").setParameter(0, name).getSingleResult();
    catch(Exception E) { E.printStackTrace();  return null; }
    return "Vendor= "+ N.getVendor()+ ", Model= "+ N.getModelNumber();

    Hi Joshua,
    The problem is that you are using a regular Java web service and in 10.1.3.0.0 we do not have support for dependency injection in the container in the web container i.e. you cannot use annotations such as EJB, Resource in any classes in the web container.
    You have two options:
    1. Lookup an EJB from regular Java web service (JSR-181)
    or
    2. Make your Web service as a EJB 3.0 web service
    Here what you can do to create an EJB 3.0 web service from JDev
    1. Create an EJB 3.0 Session bean with remote interface
    2. Change your remote interface to a web service end-point change @Remote to @WebService (import javax.jws.WebService)
    3. You do not have to use @WebMethod, we automatically expose all methods in the end-point interface in the web service
    4. You can inject EJB using @EJB
    5. Create a deployment profile for the EJB-jar and deploy the ejb-jar and the EJB will be exposed as a web service. The context-uri for the web service will be /ejb-jarName
    Hope this helps!

    Hello,
    you can check it at GlassFish Admin console (usually running on port 4848).
    You need to log on to Admin console with the (default) or changed password (depends if you changed it during installation).
    There you could see your web service deployed (usually in the "folder" Web services).
    If you can see it you should see also wsdl - for your web service.

  • Quick questions on the topic of Web Services and EJB POJOs

    I have been reading about Web Services and the data types that are aloud as operation parameters and return types. I was wondering what the standard practice for return types; is it to use the Entity classes straight and customize the WSDL instead of letting the EE container do it (avoid cyclic problems in the schema that can occur when using entity 1-to-many and many-to-1 mappings) or; is it to off load the data into a DTO/VO/Bean and let the EE container take care of all the schema mapping for the WSDL? I look at the EE tutorial and bought a EE book both use very basic examples that do not include connecting to a database or using EJB3 for the data store.
    Thanks for any information

  • EJB 3.0 Web Services - Custom Request/Response Wrappers

    Hi All,
    I'm having an issue using Document Literal Wrapped web services with EJB 3.0. I have declared a service endpoint interface(SEI) in one jar file, along with custom wrapper classes for the requests and responses. The wrappers have the XML content customized a bit (different type names, etc.), but should be compatible with the @RequestWrapper and @ResponseWrapper annotations. The implementation is in an EJB jar file that includes the jar with the SEI in it. My issue is that the wrapper classes I declared are not being used, and instead new ones are being generated. Is it even possible for it to use supplied wrappers, or does it have to generate its own (and if so, is it in any way possible to specify the XML types it generates). I've tested this with wsgen, and I get the same result (new wrapper classes, the ones I supplied ignored) as when I deploy it. Here is the output from wsgen:
    Note: ap round: 1
    [ProcessedMethods Interface: com.company.IngestorService]
    [should process method: ingestProductDirectory hasWebMethods: false ]
    [endpointReferencesInterface: true]
    [declaring class has WebSevice: true]
    [returning: true]
    [WrapperGen - method: ingestProductDirectory(java.lang.String,java.lang.String)]
    [method.getDeclaringType(): com.company.IngestorService]
    [requestWrapper: com.company.IngestProductDirectoryRequest]
    [should process method: datatypes hasWebMethods: false ]
    [endpointReferencesInterface: true]
    [declaring class has WebSevice: true]
    [returning: true]
    [WrapperGen - method: datatypes()]
    [method.getDeclaringType(): com.company.IngestorService]
    [requestWrapper: com.company.DatatypesRequest]
    com\company\DatatypesRequest.java
    com\company\DatatypesResponse.java
    com\company\IngestProductDirectoryRequest.java
    com\company\IngestProductDirectoryResponse.java
    Note: ap round: 2
    I note that is says "hasWebMethods: false". Could that be an issue? Could it not be seeing my methods as web methods. The SEI and the implementation class are in different jar files and different packages. Could this be an issue?
    Here is the web service interface:
    @WebService(
    name = "IngestorService",
    targetNamespace = "http://company.com/"
    @SOAPBinding(
    style = SOAPBinding.Style.DOCUMENT,
    parameterStyle = SOAPBinding.ParameterStyle.WRAPPED
    public interface IngestorService
    @WebMethod(
    action = "http://company.com/ingestProductDirectory"
    @WebResult(
    name = "response",
    targetNamespace = ""
    @RequestWrapper(
    className = "com.company.IngestProductDirectoryRequest"
    @ResponseWrapper(
    className = "com.company.IngestProductDirectoryResponse"
    public void ingestProductDirectory(
    @WebParam(
    name = "sourceDirectory",
    targetNamespace = ""
    String sourceDirectory,
    @WebParam(
    name = "datatype",
    targetNamespace = ""
    String datatype);
    @WebMethod(
    operationName = "datatypes",
    action = "http://company.com/datatypes"
    @WebResult(
    name = "datatypes",
    targetNamespace = ""
    @RequestWrapper(
    localName = "DatatypesRequest",
    className = "com.company.DatatypesRequest"
    @ResponseWrapper(
    localName = "DatatypesResponse",
    className = "com.company.DatatypesResponse"
    public List datatypes();
    Here are the datatype request and response wrappers:
    @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD)
    @XmlType(
    name = "DatatypesRequest"
    public class DatatypesRequest
    DatatypesResponse.java:
    @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.PROPERTY)
    @XmlType(
    name = "DatatypesResponse",
    propOrder =
    "datatypes"
    public class DatatypesResponse
    private List<String> _datatypes;
    @XmlElementWrapper(
    name = "datatypes",
    required = true,
    nillable = false
    @XmlElement(
    name = "datatype",
    required = false
    public List<String> getDatatypes() {
    if (_datatypes == null) {
    _datatypes = new ArrayList<String>();
    return _datatypes;
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    I have been trying to do the same... and it seems to be impossible... (or completly undocumented).
    It seems that OC4J 10.3.x is ... no exactly fully EJB3/J2EE5 compliant...
    Or something like that:
    http://blogs.infosupport.com/berte/archive/2005/09/09/1117.aspx
    IMHO... OC4J 10.3.x is still a preview for OC4J 11...
    OC4J 10.3.x is kind of a J2EE4/5 hybrid... if you start digging in the documentation, you will find out that the only
    way to have WS-Security is going back to J2EE4 http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wssecure/10gwssecurity_howto.html
    (of course, I hope you probe me wrong)
