Electronic signature capture - how to?

Anyone have a solution for Macs for electronic signature capture? I cannot find any compatible signature capture devices on the market. Something like Topaz.
Suggestions would be so very welcome.

Autograph from TenOne is software that provides simple signature capture via the trackpad of a laptop. But it's not like Topaz. There's also a plug-in for use with FileMaker. I found these from a Google search, so you might give that a try.

  • AdobeForms Central - Editing AdobeForms Central PDFs in Acrobat Pro XI, Electronic Signatures

I have an adobe forms central account, adobe acrobat pro installed on my mac. And I want to create an adobe forms central PDF form that I can edit in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and also create an electronic signature. How should I go about this?

If you created it in Forms Central, you have to edit it there. I believe Forms Central is similar to LiveCycle Designer in that the form created is no longer able to be edited in Acrobat. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. You add the submit button in Forms Central. Within Acrobat, you should be able to go to the forms menu and Manage Data to save the data to an Excel file. Others better with forms should be by to clarify things, but this should get you started. In the future you might find it better to post a forms question in the forms discussions.

  • Capturing image with electronic signature.

A new functionality of electronic signature is provided with webcenter content. We can create metadata for electronic signature but its type can only be text, int, checkbox, lontText etc. It does not allow capturing image.
As per our requirement we want a process like
    1. System will allow every user to upload an image of his signature. (We can do it by normal check in so no problem here)
    2. Electronic signature should be configured to take image as a metadata. (Currently I believe signature can't take image)
    3. When user signs a document, image metadata should get automatically populated with users signature as checked in in first step. (Currently I believe we can't set default value for signature metadata)
    4. User should provide password and other metadata information and document should get signed. (No problem here)
    5. As part of water mark we should be able to show image of signature on document.
    How should we achieve it?
    Thanks
    Sanjeev.

I believe there's a disconnect between what an official "electronic signature" is vs. other electronic signatures. There is a defined regulation that states what an official electronic record signature is: 21 cfr part 11 .
putting an image isn't a 'real' esig.
I do not believe that WCContent's new esig feature is what you're after.
I'm not sure exactly what the last few lines of your previous post were after, but you might be able to get away with only using the PDF Watermark component if you just want to stamp specific content into the pdf.
If you want to stamp images into pdfs, you'll have to create a custom component that does some custom image manipulation, I believe.
If you have a requirement for 'real' electronic signatures. you should check if your requirement needs to follow 21 cfr part 11. if so, then you should use what WCContent offers out of the box.
This document seems to cover the topic in very good detail:
    http://www.usdatamanagement.com/attachments/article/274/Oracle-ECM-Part-11-Certification-White%20Paper.pdf
Does this help separate what UCM offers as an esig vs. stamping an ink-signature image into a pdf?

  • Capturing electronic signature through the forms application - help

    Hello,
I have a question. We need to implement "capturing the electronic signature" feature in our forms application and store it in the database. i am wondering if anyone uses the same mechanism in your forms application.
we are working with a hospital management system, in one of the screens we need to capture the patient's signatrure electronically through an external signature pad device and store it in the Oracle DB, Does anyone know how to implement this feature , what kind of signautre pad device would work well with forms application?
We are using forms10g with OAS on the Linux.
I would really appreciate if anyone could throw some idea how to implement this.
    Thanks

  • General questions regarding capturing electronic signatures

    Hi Guys,
    Have some questions....
Are electronic signatures supported in BPM and if yes any idea what types of signature? what standards are used, whether they are legally accepted and whether this is part of the package or a separate application.
can the processes support multiple signatures at multiple stages, signifying different levels of approval?
Could you provide some idea on how electronic signatures are recorded and retained and how the process or document remains fixed once signed?
    Thanks in advace.

this is more application related. nothing to do with BPM.

  • How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)?

How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)? This form will serve as an employment application on a website. The goal is to have any person (interested in applying for a job via the Internet) access, complete and electronically sign the form upon submission.

    Hi,
Via createPDF you would not be able to electronic sign the PDF form, you would either require Adobe Reader or purchase Adobe Acrobat to sign the PDF.
    To download Adobe Reader

  • Capturing electronic signature in the Webdynpro for java applicaiton.

    Hi! All,
Can you please tell me the way to capture the electronic signature in my Webdynpo for Java application.?
    Thanks and Regards,
    M.D.Sahu

    Hi,
I did it with IFrame control that generates a script (javascript) with Smart Card.
The user has a smart card with electronic id, when the user wants to sign the form the script generate a smrt card logon.
The user has to identify with finger print and the electioc signiture is added to the form (Adobe).
the main issue  in this project was where to activate  script (server side or client side).

  • How to add electronic signatures to crystal report?

    All-
I need to add a .bmp (electronic signature) to the bottom of my Crystal PO form.  I want to use .bmp files located in a specific folder.  I see a Format graphic option and an area to enter a location, but can't seem to get it to work.  How do I insert a picture that is not just inserted into the form, but rather use a specific .bmp file in a specific location.  I need to put in an electronic signature of different people based on certain criteria.  Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.. Pat

    1. First, you need to have a default picture. I normally have an empty .jpg , let's call it Empty.jpg
    2. Assuming you insert different signature  .bmp based on in VendorCountry
    3. Following this steps:
    - Insert Empty.jpg into the PO fom
    - right click on the picture in crystal report, and click Format grapic
    -  In the picture tab, you can find the field Graphic Location
click on the blue pen on the right, then put in the condition as you want.
    If VendorCounty = 'US' then
    C:\abc.jpg
else if VendorCounty = 'AU' then
    C:\zzz.jpg
    else
    c:\empty.jpg

  • How Signature Capture Works...

    Hi All,
    I am using MI 7.0.
I understand the functionality of Signature capture. It is kinda transferring a file (which contains the signature) from the client to the backend.
According to my understanding, the binary file of signature is broken into chunks of 255bytes and stored as items of a particular SyncBo, passed to the middleware and backend and reconstructed as an image again.
If this understanding is right, I want to use the same functionality to send any file from the client to backend and also from the backend to the client.
I had posted one thread before too which clarified many things- Re: Attaching a pdf file in the backend
I have some more questions, In signature capture, I assume, the breaking of a image into smalled chunks and recollecting of them happens automatically.
How can I do that with other files, like any other image?
What is the process of breaking image and recollecting into the backend?
(Like creating new SyncBOs, BAPI Wrappers for it and all, etc.)
How will this process be automated in a way that on the client, the user just browses the image from his PDA, attaches it, and it goes to the back on next sync.
I am not sure if the question is clear, Please ask for more clarifictions..
    Thanks
    Ankur

    Hi Ankur,
well, lets start this discussion with a short description:
The split process does not relly happen automatically as you said. Any file on the PC is stored in bytes and can be read as a usual text file. Java does not care i you read a textfile, an image, an app or whatever - it is just a 8bit byte structure....and so it can be displayed as a text structure. So if you show the image on the screen and you want to send it to the backend - mark it and start the process. This process reads the file form disc as a textfile, then splits it into chunks of 255 chars. So you have a string array in memory. This can be stored as SyncBO - same as the long text functionality for any other syncBO. a Text field with the chars and an index field - to know the correct order at the end.
That is all, storeit in an syncBo and sync. It goes to the backend. There you need to put the information together and store it as file. No issue - just development.
The same happens the way back: split the info in the backend, sync send it to the client, there take this information and store it to the file system of the device. Then you can display it.
Hope that makes it clear - rest should be straight forward development.....
    Regards,
    Oliver

  • How do I sign a document in Adobe Reader w/electronic signature?

I'm trying to sign a tax form, its unclear from the Reader doc how to create a signature for use on the document.

    Hi Matt,
Starting with the form you want to sign opened in Reader, select the Fill & Sign tool on the right side of the toolbar. This will open the right hand Fill & Sign panel. Next, open (expand) the Fill & Sign Tools pane.
There are three possible scenarios from this point...
The Place Signature tool is disabled (grayed out). This would be because the security setting on the file do not allow for changes.
The Place Signature tool is enabled, but when you select it and get the Place Signature dialog, the only option available is Use a certificate. This is because the document contains an existing signature field and the assumption is the document author requires a secure digital signature as opposed to electronic signature.
The Place Signature tool is enabled, and all of the radio buttons are enable on the Place Signature dialog.
Depending on which of the three scenarios you encounter drive what you can do next. Obviously with scenario 1 there is nothing else to do. With scenario 2 you have to have access to a valid digital ID to create a digital signature. With scenario 3 you have the option of creating either a digital signature using your digital ID, or you can create an electronic signature by placing a mark on the document. That mark can be your typed name, a signature you create with a mouse, or a scanned image of your wet-ink signature.
If you need to create a digital signature, then you need to have access to a digital ID. There are two options for procuring a digital ID; either you can buy one from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) who will vet your identity, or, you can have Reader generated an untrusted digital ID for free. What you select to do depends on what the second party (you're the first party, the document recipient is the second party, and if a CA is involved they are the third party) requires, or more precisely, what agreement you and other party come to.
I hope this helps get your started.

  • How to use electronic signature

    how to use electronic signature

    Hi William,
An electronic signature is not a cryptographic operation, but rather something akin to typing in your name or attaching a stamp. A digital signature uses a public / private key pair (aka a digital ID) and cryptographically binds the signature to the document so that if the document is altered it will break the signature, thus ensuring document integrity.
If you are truly looking for a secured method of creating an electronic signature you should do to http://www.echosign.com and subscribe to the service.
If you want to learn about digital signatures I'd start at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/certificate-signatures.html

  • How to enter 2nd Electronic Signature?

We recently instituted electronic signature for our Engineers using Acrobat X Pro and a third party certification. The plan is for the first engineer to sign the PDF document and email it to the second engineer for his signature and approval. The system works well when we convert a Word document to PDF, which shows the PDF Producer (File => Properties) as Adobe PDF Library. However, when we use an interactive Acrobat document generated by our publications department, it shows the PDF Producer as Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0. With the latter document, the first engineers can sign the document, but in the "Sign Document" dialogue box the "Lock Document After Signing" option is not available. As the result, the document is locked by the first person who signed it and the second person cannot sign it.
Is there an option to select to enable the second person to sign the document if it is generated by Adobe LifeCycle Designer?

    George,
Thank you for your reply. We ended up creating actual signature fields in Adobe LiveCyle on the documents and routed them to our engineers for their signatures. It worked great.

I suspect you're dealing with a dynamic XFA form and attempting to place an additional signature, as opposed to signing a preexisting digital signature field. It should work if the form has as many digital signature fields as will be needed. It won't otherwise. Note that if the form is a dynamic XFA but it doesn't need to be (e.g., because you're not adding or autoexpanding fields at run-time), then you might be able to create it as a static XFA form and then users will be able to place as many signatures as is needed.
