Email accts/ Do I need I.E. PoP3, IMAP etc. info for set up?

I want to get a secure email service that has encryption. This is my fist time using a smart phone (still in the mail) and would like to know if I need any information typical of a PC account as in POP-3 info or IMAP info etc., or can I just contact my email provider?

I recieved the answer per my email carrier. The only info needed is provided thru the email carrier. Thank you for all your views.

this is all greek to me. WHAT IS STARTTLS? On the first page of Apple set up there is a TLS certificate and it is marked NONE- should I change it to the long APPLE CERT option? The next page under ADVANCED: THERE IS A BOX SSL MARKED. Then IMAP Path Prefix - I put stmp.gmail.com.. is that right? Port 993 can use this one? as 456 doesn't work and 587 said it wasn't safe. Under AUTHENTICATION I used PASSWORD. Should I have used external client cert TLS?

Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars - go to the Accounts section, choose the account to delete, scroll to the resulting page and tap "Delete Account".

I chged my internet provider and new email address and cloud is not recognizing this chg. i deleted my old email acct from ipad and added new acct and since then i cannot send email nor the cloud will recognize the new email address. do i need to sync

How do I set up email accts so that they are coordinated between my iphone, macbook, imac?

my iphone, macbook, and imac email accts are all set up as imap accts but I have to treat email individually on each device. SSL is off but server port numbers are different. how should this be setup so that what I do on my laptop email is automatically done on the iphone and imac?

That can only be done if you have an IMAP or exchange email account. POP3 accounts won't sync changes across your devices. If you have a POP3 account you can ask your email provider if they have an IMAP option. If not, you would need to switch to an IMAP account such as iCloud email, Gmail or Yahoo.

ok sorry everyone but i solved it myself but the solution is so nuts i've posted it here to help others who have the same problem.
to setup a comcast imap account on your iphone:
go to mail, contacts, etc in settings
under accts, select add account
select "other"
new screen, choose "add mail account"
now on the new acct screen you must enter your name, email address and password for your GMAIL acct ! (yes i said your gmail acct !, or some other acct with a NON comcast address).
hit next
then the acct verifies
when verified a screen will open with all the acct settings for this acct AND @ the top of the screen are the 2 buttons > imap or POP
select imap and THEN CHANGE ALL THE ACCOUNT information to the comcast account !
then hit next and the account will take a couple minutes to verify but it will verify and now you have a comcast imap acct set up on your iphone. The problem must be that when the iphone sends the initial verify acct info to comcast (if you enter that information first) the comcast server is simply not setup yet to signal the iphone that there is an imap option.

Thanks but that doesn't give me the information I need. I am putting an email on my ipod for people to contact me for iMessage and FaceTime but when I put the email in, it gives me an error saying that the email cannot be veirified because it is already in use. My Apple ID can be varified, just not the email that they will contact me with.

Since a few days I have got the same problem - after having worked with IMAP on the phone since Feb 2011 without any problems. I urgently need an IMAP-Account on my C3-00 in my business - and now I am cut off.
I am very embarrassed and I hope NOKIA will find a solution soon! In the meantime I changed to a mobile smartphone manufactured by Hewlett Packard ... but I hope for a return to C3-00!

Setting up POP3 mail -- & other info needed

I need to set up POP3 access / sendmail on a linux system --- please where is all the information of my email address/ any passwords / mail server access is to be had for this? I have about 5 email addresses yes? I can change/formulate the existing addresses?
I have managed to remember my access to the BT site ... is the info on there?
Also -- can I possibly have one of the new routers?
Also -- do BT do hosting? Do I maybe get a hosting account with server access (ssh). I have no idea where to go to at the moment for linux hosting.

mail is fairly easy to set up. depending what mail program you have, i.e. thunderbird,claws etc, it's just mail.btinternet.com in both the pop & smtp with your e-mail address & password for username & password .to set up additional e-mail addresses, log in to bt.yahoo.com & click on my account & go from there.
as for the other stuff, not a clue, i host my own web site from home & from what i know, the new routers are not much cop
