Email Categories in 10.3.1

Hi all,
Can an email be placed into a specific category from the BlackBerry smartphone running 10.3.1?
Thank you

Hello,
If, by "category", you mean what the Outlook desktop client uses, then no...those are not standard and not carried through via email servers, and hence cannot synchronize between client, server, and BB device.
But, if you mean email folder or label (in the case of GMail), then yes it can...if you have an adequate email server (EAS and IMAP I think can do so, but not POP).
Good luck and let us know!

  • I delete emails on Centro, but they still take up tons of memory.

    I'm running VersaMail 4.0.1.00 on my Sprint Centro, which carries 68.8MB of usable memory.
    When I go to Info (Menu + I from the Home screen), it tells me that I have <1MB of memory left, primarily because the Email application takes up 38,936K. (There are actually two Email categories listed - with sizes 16K and 38,936K respectively.  They both show Version 4.0.1.00, and as for the number of records, it's "N/A" and 831 respectively.)
    I want to get rid of as much of that 38,936K as possible.
    When I go in the Email application, I delete every possible email, but even after I empty trash it tells me that there remain 47 messages in Trash (marked with an asterisk, for some reason).
    The email is connected to my company's Microsoft Exchange Server.  I'd be willing to delete the entire application, but the Email application isn't visible when I go to Delete (Menu + D from the Home screen).  In fact, even turning on the Centro now results in the error message "The free data storage space on the device is low. Delete applications or data."
    Okay, this is beyond weird and potentially relevant: as I'm typing this very message, the size and records of the aforementioned Email application changed to 29,468K and 674 records, seemingly spontaneously.
    I keep thousands of emails on my company's Microsoft Exchange Server, but I religiously delete emails from the Centro Email application, never having more than 10 or so on there at a time, and none of those carrying applications or anything that would take up lots of memory.
    Even now, I can't understand why the Email application lists all those records and all that memory being used.  If you can tell me how to free up that memory, I'd certainly appreciate it.  Thank you for your time.

    When you are deleting mail, are you also having those messages also deleed from the server? Even if they are in an all mail file and not in your in box, the versa mail still can see them. So, after you delete them, the server is sendin the mail right back to you. You are then stuck in a paradox. I delete, but, I didn't... If you have a seperate file that you can forward them to, a 'new' account. That might help.

  • Share option for email does not work after Yosemite upgrade.

    Hi,
    Does anybody know why the share option, "Share via email" does not work anymore after Yosemite upgrade?  I love this feature.  It's just quick and easy.
    Rod.

    On Yosemite, Pages '09 v4.3 no longer recognizes the Share > Send Via Email categories. You will have to export and manually drag/drop/attach documents to Mail. There is no fix.

  • All my iCloud mail folders disapeared !

    Today a nightmare came true for a friend of mine. Logged in to his mail and all his folders where gone..
    He had 40+ folders and thousands of email categorized.
    I had faith in iCloud for data protection, this was unfounded so it seems.
    Please can someone tell where i can restore my data from when it's supposed to be in the icloud.
    Or is there some file on my Harddrive i can get to ?
    Anything.
    Thanks

    This issue has been resolved by Apple Support. Error in conversion from MobileMe to iCloud so it seems.
    Thanks Apple Support !!

  • Newbie csimport question

    Hi,
    I'm using iPlanet Calendar Server 5.0 and have some questions regarding importing events into existing calendars using csimport.
    Firstly, I'm a bit confused about how the csimport command works. In my manual (iPlanet Calendar Server Administration Guide - November 2000) on page 100 regarding the csimport command, it states "If the specified CALID already exists, its data is cleared before the new data is imported". Whereas on page 132, it states "If the specified CALID already exists, the imported data is merged with the current calendar. There is no default.". So I'm a bit confused.
    I'm using iPlanet Calendar 5.0 as part of a component of Campus Pipeline, and have experimented using the csimport command to import an event into a student's personal calendar. This worked OK and merged the event with the existing events. However, when I used it on another calendar (a course calendar the student has access to), the calendar simply disappeared.
    The chain of events were as follows:
    I used the command:
    cscal -v list calmaster:9999.200203
    Before importing the .ics file, the result was:
    calmaster:9999.200203: owner=calmaster status=enabled
    name=XXX-9999-0 (Test Course)
    description=
    other owners=iss05e
    double book=yes
    aces=@@o^a^r^g;@@o^c^wdeic^g;@^a^sf^g;@^c^^g
    email=
    categories=
    character set=
    language code=en
    created=May 13, 2003 13:14:37
    last modified=May 13, 2003 13:14:37
    number of events=1
    number of tasks=0
    When I imported my test.ics file below:
    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    PRODID:-//iPlanet/Calendar Hosting Server//EN
    VERSION:2.0
    BEGIN:VEVENT
    SUMMARY:Test Event
    DTSTART:20030524T093000
    DTEND:20030524T113000
    END:VEVENT
    END:VCALENDAR
    using the command:
    csimport -c calmaster:9999.200203 calendar test.ics
    The calendar was no longer accessible. I listed the properties of the calendar again using:
    cscal -v list calmaster:9999.200203
    and the result was as follows:
    calmaster:9999.200203: owner=calmaster status=enabled
    name=XXX-9999-0 (Test Course)
    description=
    other owners=iss05e
    double book=yes
    aces=""
    email=
    categories=

    language code=en
    created=May 13, 2003 13:14:37
    last modified=May 13, 2003 15:40:29
    number of events=2
    number of tasks=0
    Am I correct in assuming the reason I can't see the calendar anymore is because the access control settings have been overwritten / blanked?
    If this is the case, how can I import events into existing calendars and leave the acs properties untouched?
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Regards,
    Paul Hughes

  • How to edit email account preferences when in the Preferences window, there is nothing for email in the categories list

    I have adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
    I would like to edit my email preferences so that when I create an email with the PDF as an attachment the name of the file will automatically also be the subject line of the email.
    according to the help instructions, I should find this by: " open the Preferences dialog box, and under Categories, select Email Accounts."
    In my version, "Email Accounts" does not appear in the categories list.
    Where do I go to edit email preferences?

    See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Form+autocomplete#Deleting_individual_form_entries

  • Emails disappear when placed in categories

    I moved several emails to one of my categories. They were there 2 days ago, but when I wanted to access now they went missing. Yes, I am sure I didn't accidentally delete. Not the oly category gone missing.

    This sounds like you restored a mail account so that the emails still show as if on that old mail account. When the server synchronizes it matches it to the server details - the old server, which off course does not have any emails, so it deletes the emails to match the server.
    In offline mode, move those emails into suitable folders in Local Folders, then they are stored on your computer.
    ''re:I migrated my domain internally with 1and1.''
    What you do not say is whether you have created a new IMAP mail account in Thunderbird to connect to the new server? If you have done this and want to move old server emails onto that new server:
    In offline mode, put emails in Local Folders first.
    Then go back into online mode and as necesary, create folders , subscribe and synchronize folders in the new IMAP server account. Then try to copy an email from Local Folders into a folder on the server.

    Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • [Exchange-Online][EWS][C#][Windows 7] Move email based on their categories

    Hello,
    I'd like to move emails in the Inbox to a separate folder based on their category.
    I'm using Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices (15.0.0.0) to connect to an ExchangeVersion.Exchange2013_SP1 instance. I'm using C# in VS2013 and the .NET 4 framework but can take examples from other versions if they exist.
    I've tried using SearchFilter without much success through ExchangeService.FindItems, but the 'Categories' property seems to be tricky to configure.
    Does anyone have an example of how I can select/move emails from a folder based on their category membership?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    It should work okay what matters is what's stored in the Keywords property eg
    The only other thing that would be important would be that Indexing is working okay in Exchange as this query relies on the Indexes (eg check your event logs on the server to make sure you not getting any indexing errors).
    One thing you can do to test this is use the EWSEditor
    http://ewseditor.codeplex.com/once you have connected right click the folder when the Items are located and select Search from the menu. Then using the AQS option try running some queries against the folder try the Conical version(which is what I gave
    you) and the non conical Category:Clare . If it works okay in the EWSEditor but not in your code then you have an issue somewhere else in your code. I would also do the simple thingss like try then with a new message you send yourself as it maybe something
    to do with Items not being indexed in the past etc.
    Cheers

  • Outlook Categories and Colors for Email and Calendar on iPhone

    I was hoping that the iPhone would retain my Outlook categories and category rules. For example, when new emails come into my Outlook Inbox, they get categorized based upon the sender of the email. Does iPhone respect Outlook categories? Also, when I put meeting requests on my Outlook Calendar, they are color coded based upon those same categories. Customer A gets Blue, customer B gets Orange, etc. Is the color supposed to be retained when I look at my Outlook Calendar on my iPhone?
    Thanks

    Are these rules applied on an Exchange Server or locally on the computer?
    If they are local on the computer, then any rules your have in Outlook will not pass over to the iPhone.
    Any rules on the Exchange Server would happen on the server side and the iPhone would mirror what is on the server.
    If you are not using an Exchange server and you want the same folder information from your computer to show on the iPhone, then you can use either an IMAP email account or MobileMe service.

  • Outlook 2013 & Hotmail (Tranferring Emails between Accounts, Syncing Issues, Categories)

    I would appreciate if someone could asssist me with the following Issues;
    ISSUE 1 – Transferring emails between Hotmail accounts
    I have multiple Hotmail accounts set up in Outlook 2013 on one of my PC’s. I also have the exact same set up using Outlook 2010 on other PC’s.
    In Outlook 2010 i can easily transfer emails between Hotmail accounts just by clicking and dragging the email to the inbox of the other account.
    I am unable to do this in Outlook 2013. When i try i get a dialogue box with the following message;
    "Cannot move the items. The folders you are trying to change do not support this operation. Could not complete the operation because the service provider does not support it."
    ISSUE 2 - Syncing Issues
    I have this set up with multiple accounts on more than one PC. So when i access any of the PC's and click send receive, the Hotmail accounts are updated
     to reflect the changes I made on any other PC (Ex. The emails that i left as Unread on the other PC will appear as unread on the PC i am at the present moment when I click sen/receive)
    This doesn’t seem to be working as well on Outlook 2013 as it does on Outlook 2010. Example - When i click on send/receive i know that it should show only 2 unread emails but instead it shows
    10 unread emails. This was never the case with Outlook 2010.
    ISSUE 3 - Categories not syncing in Outlook 2013.
    When i select a category on one PC using Outlook 2010, i noticed that when i go to another PC using Outlook 2013 and press send/receive it does show the category changes i have made.
    I really enjoy using Outlook and Hotmail and have never even considered any other provider. I would really appreciate if someone could advise me on these issues, wether there’s something I can do to correct them or if there’s any intention of making any
    changes so that the above will be fixed so that we can have the same functionality we enjoyed in Outlook 2010.
    Thanks

    Any way  of being notified about this when it happens?
    I'm going back to 2010 and would like to re-install 2013 when possible.
    Thank you.
    It's on their list, but major changes to the EAS protocol is driven by Exchange and as it stands now, I don't think they will implement it before the next version of Exchange comes out. After that, the Outlook.com team needs to implement the new version
    on their servers and Outlook needs to be updated to support it.
    The IMAP workaround mentioned in
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/765 is workable for migration scenarios.
    As about getting notifications when it happens, following the
    Outlook Team's blog might help but I'll announce it on my site as well (see my signature).

  • Email contact categories

    I have lost all the categories associated with my email contact list.  One day they were there and the next they had gone.  Mercifully the contact email addresses are all still there.  Has anyone any idea why it happened or how I can retrieve them?

    So have I. Did you find a solution.

  • Stop categorizing incoming emails with same category as thread

    Hi, I categorize certain emails.  When I receive a reply to an email that is categorized, the reply is then categorized to match the other email in the thread.  I don't want that.  I want incoming emails to not be categorized.  I've
    even created a rule to remove categories on receive, but they still get categorized.  I also have a rule to remove categories before send, just in case that's how they're getting there.
    Any ideas how to stop this?
    I'm using Outlook 2010 against Exchange.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Sorry for my delay. Has the issue been resolved?
    I have tested all your scenarios above in my environment one by one. But I can't reproduce your issue. And the message received last time by the Receiver is not categorized in any scenario.
    I suspect whether the receiver opened the Inbox folder by conversation view in Outlook. Please do the following changes in Outlook to have a try:
    1. Click the receiver's Inbox Folder.
    2. Click View tab on the Ribbon.
    3. Please make sure the Show as Conversations checkbox is unchecked.
    4. Close Outlook. And run the following
    Outlook switches to open it:
    Outlook /cleanviews
       Restores default views. All custom views you created are lost.
    Then check whether the issue persists. If it doesn't work, please confirm if the issue only happens to one specific user and we can change a new machine for this user to send test message for further troubleshooting.

  • Speed dialing, contact categories, emails

    Speed dial contact details appear and disappear at random as can be seen from two shots of the speed dial screen. The same applies to the call log that has calls from the saved constacts appear without contact name as if they were not saved contacts.
    Another issue is that the extremely useful "contact categories" have not been yet incorporated in the OS10 and finally one cannot delete the original email as was possible in the good old times.

    They disappear at random, so every day it is a different story. I should have name and type of number (home, mobile etc) but instead I get either only the number without the name or the number without both name and photo.
