Email link through a flash movie

I made a website in flash so I want to put my email address
there also so if they want to contact me they can just click on it
and the default email app will open up. I know how to do that in
Dreamweaver (it's that mailto: command) so how do you do it in
flash? I know a little bit of AS3.

I am using the Adobe work around for the "click to activate"

Can you show us what you have tried? Which version of Flash
are you using? Which version of Actionscript?

Email link in CS4 Flash

I am a newbie when it comes to flash and I have done a few tutorials. I am now working on my own personal site but I have come across a problem. Im basically duplicating the tutorial and have done so to a T. But on a comments/questions form that i have created to email me, I get a blank window in Internet Explorer when it brings up the email client. This does not occur in firefox however. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can think of offering is to say to try to include a window parameter in the function call to see if that has any effect...

Adding link to Flash movie to HTML Help

I have to output the same help in both CHM and WebHelp, and I
have to include a Flash movie (SWF) in both versions. The only way
I've found to get a link to the Flash movie to work in the compiled
CHM is to add all the Flash files to the project as "baggage" and
then insert the link. Compiled CHM then includes the Flash files.
Is this the recommended approach? Is there an easier way?

Urgent! HTML table cell - Flash movie display browser dependent

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has experienced the same problem i have
(note, Windows XP, Dreamweaver 4).
Consider the (rough) HTML code attached: A simple HTML table
of one column and two rows is constructed to hold an image banner
link and a Flash movie banner link in each cell consecutively.
The Flash movie works normally when the HTML page is viewed
in IE and Opera, until that is, it is placed inside a table cell.
Inside the cell the flash movie seems to disappear, though i
suspect it collapses to an image 1 pixel in height, as this can
just about be seen using Opera.
Is there something that I am missing? The code of course
seems correct to me - perhaps there is a browser setting i am
missing?
Any help apprceiated - as i need to implement this code ..

Hi Alan,
Dont think that was the problem (percentages used to scale to
users browser?) ... though you did set me thinking!
Was tired before, so only just remembered that when i was
experimenting with setting the Table Properties the image was
actually occasionally visible!!
Short version: When formatting a cell containing a Flash
animation dont leave the H field blank or use % (even though you're
suppose to be able to!), use pixels instead - otherwise the Flash
image collapses/disappears. Blank and % are fine everywhere else
(I did type a long answer before, but it got eaten by the
forum monster
Someone/i will probably figure out
why this is so or maybe i've just rediscovered the wheel
here - but thats not really important now - because my Flash
animation now renders similarly across IE, Opera and FireFox !!

How do I center my flash movie in dreamweaver

Hi!!
I currently have a behavior assigned to a slice I made in
imageready. In dreamweaver I assigned a pop up browser
window to it...it will be a link to a flash movie(.swf) I
made, but I don't know how to alter the code to make the browser
window centered on the screen!! Right now it opens on the top of
the screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

However, I'm now trying to figure out how write the flahs
vars so it can see what section / folder the page is in so that the
swf knows to play the same frames for both
swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/awards.php and
swinsidelodge-hotel.co.uk/pages/hotel/guest-comments.php. So
basically it doesn't look at the last bit of the url but the first
bit... I would like the flash vars to be dynamic so that when the
client adds a new subpage in one of the sections the swf will still
know which frames to play.
Any suggestions?

Cannot watch flash movie on IE

Greetings Everybody!
Here I have a question about my flash in IE. When I tried to
open an online link embedded with flash movie, I can not see any of
them. I am quite sure flash player 9 was installed properly. Just
want to know whether there is any other settings(flash/IE?) to be
modified?
Below is an example:

I can right click movie, but the "movie not loaded" is grey

DW CS4: How to play a Flash Movie in a NEW window after clicking a link or a button on a page?

Hi, using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, I would like to have a link or a button on a webpage that when clicked will play a Flash Movie in a new window.
Using the 'Insert Panel' > Media: FLV I managed to insert the .flv file on the page, but the movie plays 'in line' instead of in a new window. So far I can't find any 'Properties' or settings to change this behaviour. E.g. like Target _blank for opening e.g. a .pdf in a new Window.

Auto fill subject with an Email link in CS4 Bridge flash web gallery

Is there a way to autofill the subject line of the email link in the CS4 Bridge flab web galleries? I can do it if I use the html gallery, but I prefer the look of the flash galleries.
If I open the "group.xml" file I see code for me email link, exp.: <contactEmail>maillto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
I tried adding the "?subject=My Subject" like I would on an html file but that didn't work. I was hoping for some suggestions.

I want it to work on the click of a mouse: when I run or test the page the email comes up immediately. Here is what I have so far:

If so, the syntax is as follows:

I received a link to a iTune movie trailer in an email. I clicked on watch now and then play. I was told I need to download Quick Time, but when I clicked on download, I was told that QT is built into Mac OSX. My MacBook has OSX Yosemite.

When I hit the play icon the little arrow thing goes all the way over to the end of the file and doesn't play at all. What gives?
Is this a minimum information puzzle? It is difficult to diagnose a problem long distance when you provide little or no information regarding what actions you are actually taking to export the data or which version of iPhoto you are using. Based on your latest description of how it doesn't work, my best guess is that you are exporting a single frame from your video clip rather than the "Original" file. This is easily checked by opening the file in QT and simply pressing the left/right arrow keys. If the file only contains a single frame, then your export work flow is at fault. Please select the "File > Original" (or similar) option in the export menu to export the entire file in whatever version of iPhoto you are using..

Link flash movies to text

I am trying to linking each FLV movie imported into the Library to a word on my Samples page. Ex. Wedding linked to a wedding clip, School play linked to a school play clip. Unfortunately, the add interaction button only allows me to select the first movie that was brought into the Samples page.
How can I link multiple movies to one flash movie player?

Flash movie display issues in IE

Hi Everyone!
This message is a cross-post and I apologize, but there seems
to be more traffic in this forum and I really could use some input
on my question. Here goes:
I'm new to this forum, but have a little experience with
Flash. I'm building a site, mixing flash with css and html on a
webpage (obviously). When I test the pages in Internet Explorer,
the display jumps around quite a bit when I navigate between web
pages (looks fine when clicking through frames in the movies). This
is the first time I've ever seen this (in the few times I've built
flash-heavy sites) and this display issue doesn't happen in
Firefox, Opera or even old Netscape. Unfortunately - most of the
world is using IE, so I need a little help.
I thought perhaps the Flash Satay solution might be the
answer, but I'm not a handy programmer so before I go mucking
around with it, I thought I'd get some thoughts from other flash
users...

in question (and the only ones that are working, really) are the
home page, the about page, and then galleries one and two.
(Oh finally, I'm viewing these pages both locally, on my
computer and online after being uploaded. I have cable internet
access. I realize Gallery 2 loads a bit more slowly than Gallery 1,
but the primary reason I'm using flash to display the tables is
because I want large, high rez photos. )
