Email report as attachment with link to webi version

I want to schedule a webi report such that the report is sent as an excel attachment.
In addition I want to provide a URL to the report that the user can click to view the report in Webi in the browser with live/current data if required. The actual report will also have options to slice and dice the data so user can interact with the data and derive any other information the he/she needs.
I've got the email and attachment part taken care of.
How to I provide a URL to the original report (not the instance of the report). I am using SAP BO 4.1.

Creating PDFs with links for web searches

Hi everyone. That title is not exactly the problem I'm having, but it's a good start.
We have found that Firefox/IE/Chrome search our PDFs quite nicely, but when the link is clicked in the search results, all that happens is that the PDF opens to page 1. Users have to search again to find what they're looking for. Perhaps that is just how such a search is supposed to happen, but it seems that I've seen somewhere that a PDF opened to the page with the search term on it.
What can we add to the FrameMaker source files or the PDF (before it's posted to the web) to ensure that a search link takes the user precisely to the text being searched for? We're TCS3 with unstructured FM but might soon be, um, strongly encouraged to switch to the structured version.
I've looked through the FM and Acrobat forums for an answer, to no avail.

That would be my guess. Search engines probably cannot search many PDFs in the raw at all (you don't have to turn on much security to turn a PDF binary into an encrypted mess). But if the PDF allows reading and/or printing, they can render the whole thing, and index what's displayed. The named destinations may not be recovered in that process, plus, you're not always assured that there will be an ND nearby everything you're indexing.
Adobe might even provide some APIs that would allow deeper linking into PDFs as a search result, but it may also be that few enough have useful NDs that it just isn't worth the bother to look. NDs inflate the size of the PDF, so many publishers don't turn them on (we don't, and probably won't, until we need deliberate deep linking).
If you want the info to be accessible like a web page, you multi-flow to HTML or a similar non-atomic format as well.

It's not possible to email a WA report. An option is to recreate your report in IR and have it scheduled to email the result to the users.

All excel attachment files in Outlook web app (email) are renamed "attachment.ashx", losing their original file names. Why? And how do I fix this?

While the email displays the attachment with the "original file name.xls", when I click and download, it is called "attachment.ashx", and I lose all the original downloaded file names. This started happening about 3 weeks ago after a Firefox update. Suggestions for a fix?

Need links to previous versions of Folio Producer Tools and Folio Builder

Got stonewalled trying to view a folio that had been updated using Release 18 tools on the iPad Content Viewer (2.2). So, I need to reinstall previous versions of Folio Producer Tools/Folio Builder.
I'm aware that the issue is Apple has not yet approved the latest Content Viewer (2.3). In the meantime, I need to keep plowing ahead on a previously built folio, which means using older versions of the tools.
Can anyone help with links to previous versions of the Tools and Builder?

Currently working on a folio that was started with pre-Release 18 tools. We updated tools on one computer to Release 18 this morning, made a few tweaks to a single article, then updated it to the folio.
As you predicted, Bob, we can NO LONGER VIEW the folio on our iPad Content Viewer (2.2). And our Enterprise license is still in the works so we can't build a Custom Viewer.
Anyone have a link to pre-Release 18 downloads to reinstall the old Builder panel and Producer Tools on this computer? Or any other ways to circumvent this problem?

Display attachement extension field with link in report

Do you know how i can display in a report, an attachment extension field, with the link to the document ? It displays fine, but how can i add the hyperlink to open it directly from the report ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I understand what you are saying, the problem is that when you have an interactive report that includes a BLOB and you use the built-in method for displaying a download link, it only gives you the option of using a text link. The method is outlined in the online help under:
Home > Advanced Programming Techniques> About BLOB Support in Forms and Reports > About BLOB Support in Reports
This is done by using the following syntax in the Number/Date Format of the column attribute of the BLOB:
DOWNLOAD:CC_DOCUMENTS:CONTENTS:ID::MIME_TYPE:FILENAME:UPDATED_ON::attachment:View
Where the last parameter is the link text. The only problem is that there is no option for substituting an image rather than the link text. That's what I'm trying to work around. Sorry if you new all of this already, but I wanted to explain what I've already done. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Problem with links on email templates
Hi,
We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:

Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.
Can anyone help or advise on how to resolve this issue?

Hi Wesley,
This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it). It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
Upon copying, the link gets scrambled. The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.

Want to Send smartform as pdf attachment with a Email to some mail id

Hi ,
I want to send a smartform as a PDF attachment with a mail to a mail id. And I can send a mail with the PDF attachment.
But I am not able to open the PDF. It is throwing some error (Adobe reader could not open u2018fileu2019 because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example , it was sent as an email attachment and was not correctly decoded)).
By debugging I come to know that the file which is generating is in some encoding format.
Please help me regard this. This is very urgent.

Hi all,
is actually possible to link a web analysis report in a planning data form? I tried from a custom menu but discovered that isn't possible. Any other way?

Indeed, it is possible to link a web analysis report in a planning custom menu.
Follow this procedure :
- From the explorer :
-> Go to the folder where your web analysis report is stored
-> Right click on the document and left click on "properties"
-> Copy the "smartCut" link
- From your planning application :
-> Edit the menu where you want to link your webanalysis report :
-> Create a URL item and past the link in the input field

I am now suspicious that my friend's email account has been hijacked and the link contained a virus or a Trojan horse. I would know what to do on my PC but am new to the IPad. Can any form of Trojan horse be planted on IOS 6 or am I worrying unnecessarily? Reassurance would be most welcome as I do use the IPad for checking bank details and web purchases. Just copy the code below and execute . I just checked and found the exact values on attachment with no blank lines. This is more simple than the one u have written , just include ur data upload logic . For ITAB values to be attached i have written a simple logic to retrive from EKPO. Just copy this code and execute. u will understand then.

Webi report part(include Opendoc Link) ondesktop did not work in BI Widgets

My customer followed <BI Widgets User Guide>(XI3.1) to create a webi report part(include Opendoc Link) onto desktop.
Page 26:
To convert Report Part into a Widget ,drag and drop the Report Part from the Web Intelligence Viewer onto the desktop.
As a widget, the Report Part will include the following BI Widgets features:
- Automatic refresh
- User controlled size and positioning
- Saved display and data context state
- Optional setting as the top application window
- Full XI R3 security
- Web Intelligence opendoc links to detailed reports.
But it can not be clicked(hyperlink did not work).
My customer follow the SAP Note 1244968 to create again, it still can not be clicked.
For I can't reproduce this issue, could you tell me what's it probably related to?

Symptom
Trying to use Hyperlinks in a BI Widget created from a WebIntelligence
report
Environment
XIR3
Workflow
1. Login in Webintelligence
2. Create on efashion a Webintelligence report with the
objects:Year,Sales Revenue
3. In the Edit panel add a column to the table and insert the
variable :=If([State]="DC"; HTMLEncode("http://uk.yahoo.com"); "")
4. In the Properties Display/Display/Read cell content as Hyperlink
5. Run the report and save it
6. Open the Webintelligence report with HTML view and click on the
hyperlink you are redirected to the Yahoo website
7. Log in BI Widget
8. Right click on the right inside icon of BI Widget and click on
Document List Explorer
9. Find the Webintelligence report and double click on it
10. Click on the table and drag and drop it to your desktop
11. The BI Widget gets created
12. Click on the column containing the Hyperlink:nothing happens.
Cause
There is no functionality of using Hyperlinks in a BI Widget created
from a Webintelligence report

Hi Soniya,
These are the steps:
1. Log in into infoview
2. Change the preferences (Click in the Preference button in the main tool bar), in the WebIntelligence section change the Select a default view format: to Interactive.
3. Click OK
4. Open the report where you want to add the hyperlink
5. Right click in the column or cell to add the hyperlink
6. Click Hypelink > New
7. You will see the Create Hypelink window, click Browse the select which report do you want to link
8. Fill in the parameter, prompts, etc.
