Email Upgrade Confused

Hi,
I'm slightly confused about email changes.
I was informed a long time ago that my account would eventually be upgraded to "BTMail" which I understand is different to the BTYahoo mail and is no longer provided by Yahoo.
However I have now received an email many months later saying that my BTYahoo email will be upgraded to the latest Yahoo version.
Does this mean the switch to BTMail is cancelled and we are staying on BTYahoo?
Regards

I wondered about this as well. BT Mail, Yahoo Mail, BT Yahoo Mail... what's going on?
I have thought about just moving to an email client rather than webmail, but it all seems so much hassle

  • Verizon's recent email upgrade that failed miserably

I want to congratulate Verizon on their recent email upgrade. It failed miserably. You set up a third party to back it out, and
never informed anyone that you needed to do that, and the third party then proceeded to scam me out of $200. by offering to "clean up my computer" when it did not need that service. It is best expressed by the old adage
You are known by the company you keep

I'm not sure about what you mean by third party? There isn't a third party that can support your Verizon email. It sounds like you may have just been scammed by a third party company.

  • FB4 Premium Edu. upgrade-confusion

After discussing with several licensing resellers and the Adobe licensing support itself I'm even more confused than before, you guys at Adobe definately don't make it easy upgrading or even buying an education version of FB4 Premium
    What I currently have
    - Flex Builder 2 Pro. edu license
    - Free Flex Builder 3 Pro edu license from freeriatools.adobe.com
    - Extended FB 4 Premium Beta 2 Key
What I would like to have
    - Flash Builder 4 Premium education
    Education Volume Licensing Reseller
Ok, our education volume licensing reseller was completely confused about the name change, however they offer three products:
    - FB4 Premium Upgrade from CF-Builder
    - FB4 Premium from Flex Builder 2 / 3 Professional ( unbelievable cheap price of USD 40.- )
    - FB4 Premium from FB4 Standard
However I have never heard of an upgrade option from Flex Builder 2 to Flash Builder 4 Premium and they were not able telling me if the freeriatools-key will work for an upgrade.
Also they were not able telling me if I can get the Free FB4 Standard for education version and then upgrade to FB4 Premium education and there don't seems to be an option buying the FB4 Premium edition directly, they just offer upgrade versions.
So they told me I will have to give the Adobe licensing center a call.
    Adobe Licensing Center
Again, first of all a confusion about the name-change. However after several internal discussions I had to pass them my Flex Builder 3 key and they told me it should be possible upgrading to FB 4 Premium using this key....should..so they redirected me to the Adobe direct-selling hotline.
    Adobe Direct-Selling Hotline
"Flash Professional?"...no Flash Builder 4 Premium from Flex Builder 3 Professional but using a freeriatools key.
    .."please wait"....
..."we only have a business version, would you like to buy this one?" No thanks, I would like to buy the Flash Builder 4 Premium education version.
"ah ok, then please contact your educational volume licensing partner". ...But they told me to contact you because they don't have such an option, just upgrades.
.."sorry we can't help you in this case"  mkey thanks.
..as they have no idea what Flash Builder 4 is as it seems, I decided to ask within this forums, maybe someone else already upgraded his/her FB3 edu pro version to FB4 Premium....or at least I hope so
    Ok seriousely:
Is it possible upgrading my Flex 3 edu pro (freeria) or Flex 2 pro license to FB4 Premium?
Is it possible getting the Flash Builder 4 Standard edu from freeriatools for free and then upgrading it to FB4 edu Premium through our local volume licensing partner?
Thanks in advance for your answers
    --Michael

Hoping to get an answer to this question as well - I work at a university and have been using Flex 3 with a key from freeriatools on a daily basis for programming everything (Flash, PHP, HMTL, Javascript, XML, etc etc etc) seems like. I received my freeriatools key for Flash Builder 4 only to find out it was for the Standard edition, not allowing use of the memory profiling for Flash - making me wonder what else will be disabled when I go to build stuff - not sure why this was done as it wasn't disabled in Flex 3 for edu. As the decider for my team if we are going to move to FB4 I'm staying Flex 3 until the vendors and adobe figure out what they are going to do for educational versions of FB4.

  • Annual upgrade, NE2, and more early upgrade confusion

I see a lot of confusion here regarding upgrade eligibility and credits. I've tried to research to get a clearer understanding but there are still some things that are hazy to me.
Regarding NE2 - I found this: "Annual Upgrade was a marketing program available to customers who signed up for a two-year plan of at least $49.99 or higher. Enrolled customers were eligible to upgrade after one-year."
Great, but when exactly did this "marketing program" end? Is it only available to the primary line if there are multiple lines on an account? Does the $49.99 refer to JUST the calling plan, or total (including data/messaging/etc)?
I've seen plenty of articles like this talking about Verizon giving early upgrades to those who would normally not be eligible. Trying to figure out what the criteria is, it seem like this early upgrade offer was extended to customers who purchased phones last year, up to late 2010. Aside from that though, I can't really tell what makes a one customer "eligible" and the next ineligible. I was wondering if anyone had information on this that could clarify the issue.
Also, I've noticed many smartphone owners, even those that purchased recent phones like the Thunderbolt on contract, say that they've been able to get early upgrades. I'm just curous as to what qualifies someone for an early upgrade and what Verizon looks at when deciding eligiblity, since with everyone's different experiences, it seems like there aren't many hard and fast rules. Thanks for any help

    andrewtorres87 wrote:
Thanks for the replies guys, that gives me a much better idea of what's going on as far as early upgrades go. Like everyone else, I'd love to be able to upgrade a little early, but when I check upgrade date, it seems to be on the typical 20 month schedule. I was just wondering if I might have some sort of eligibilty though since I renewed my contract in 11/2010, well before the NE2 and annual upgrades were discontinued. I'm pretty sure I would meet the calling plan requirement since my plan includes voice/unlimited messaging/data, but I'm on a family plan and don't know that I'm the "primary" line. Although I'm 99% sure nobody else on our plan has been eligible for NE2/annual upgrade either...You can sign into MyVerizon to see which line on your account is the primary line. Or you can look at your bill. Normally, the primary line is listed 1st. If you signed a contract for your line in November of 2010 yet are not eligible for an upgrade, then you can be certain that your line is not the primary on your Family Plan.
It'd be nice if I could find someone to look at the acoount and offer some sort of explanation as to why/why not I'd be eligible for annual upgrade, but the only "help" I've gotten is reps telling me when my upgrade date is, which is already well known. Or telling me to open a new line if I really want to upgrade now, which just seems like a wasteful option, not really saving any money over the long term compared to just buying a device at full retail. Reps will NEVER give the annual upgrade date PRIOR to the line actually becoming eligible for the upgrade. This is because it is not a definite upgrade eligibility, but a conditional one. If your plan changes prior to your line reaching the annual upgrade eligibility, you could lose the ability to become eligible. Then you would just complain to Verizon that you were told you could upgrade at a certain date and are not able to do so.
For example, you have a Family Plan with 1 Primary(contract signed in 11/2010) and 3 secondary lines(contracts signed in 11/2010). The Primary line decides in July of this year to leave the plan to join up as a secondary on a different Family Plan. In this case, although the Primary WOULD have been eligible for an annual upgrade in 11/2011 had they stayed on the original Family Plan, it would no longer become eligible for the annual upgrade because it is now a secondary phone on a different plan and the $9.99 line access fee would not qualify for the annual upgrade. If this person was originally told that they would be eligible for an upgrade in November of 2011, they would then complain that they weren't able to upgrade now! Furthermore, the secondary line which was switched to the Primary line on the original Family Plan WOULD NOT be eligible for an annual upgrade in 11/2010 because it became the Primary line AFTER annual upgrades were discontinued in January of 2011.
I am (mostly) satisfied with the actual data/voice service I get from Verizon, but their customer service seems to be on the decline, I'm my experience at least. They seem to be more concerned with getting new contracts (customers) than providing services to long-time customers and doing what they can to keep them happy. Just an observation as a VZW customer of 12+ years. Not to say this isn't expected, as they're a huge company and didn't get where they are by NOT putting $ first, but as the carrier with the reputation of having the best customer service, I've found myself being less  and less impressed over the years.  Sorry to vent here, but hopefully honest feedback is something that could be at least a bit useful to Verizon.

  • 5800 email client confuses me - or is it buggy?

    Have just started using Nokia email client (latest update) for push Gmail email and find the settings confusing. Two problems;
    1) 'When to sync' is set to 07.30-22.00. Despite this, it checks email every four hours during the night (waking me up).
    2) I keep seeing the WLAN connected. I guess the email should be activating it every four hours to check for email, but then should it not switch it off? I tried manually disconnecting it several times but it would switch right back on.
Final question for anyone that really knows this email client. How is 'roaming' defined? Does it mean when you are out of your 'home network'? If so, how do you set a home network? And is home network only a WLAN??
Thanks in advance for any help.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]

Well, thanks very much Nokia for moving my post over into this forum - which no-one seems to read. The general N series forum is much better for answers.
Am giving up on the Nokia email client, it just does not seem to work reliably. For example, even though its definitely set to send/receive ever 4 hours it seems to keep the 3g connection or wireless on all the time and collect emails dynamically. Not ideal. Also, I wish the Help was more detailed. The stuff about roaming, home network etc I still can't understand.
So uninstalling it, going to try Emoze from the Ovi store instead.

  • Lost emails upgrading from tiger to leopard

I lost emails (although mailbox folders are still there, just empty) after upgrading from tiger to leopard. Please help?!

I followed these instructions the last couple of times this happened to me. It works so well that I've made a text file with these instructions:
I got it to work by deleting all the values in the defaults database associated with Mail and the Junk rules. In my case I did the following:
Remove the Envelope Index file (~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index) from your user account.
    Launch Terminal.
Copy/Paste this list into the Terminal window.
    defaults remove com.apple.mail JunkMailBehaviorHasBeenConfigured
    defaults remove com.apple.mail JunkMailHeaderFlags
    defaults remove com.apple.mail JunkMailInfoPanelHasBeenShown
    defaults remove com.apple.mail JunkViewerAttributes
    defaults remove com.apple.mail LastTimeJunkWasVisited
    defaults remove com.apple.mail NumberOfMessagesMarkedAsJunk
    defaults remove com.apple.mail NumberOfMessagesMarkedAsNotJunk
    defaults remove com.apple.mail UseJunkMailHeaderFlags
Watch the rapid execution of the text commands in the Terminal window.
    Quit Terminal.
    Launch Mail.
Follow the onscreen guides to import your mail and watch the mail database restore itself.
All mailboxes, drafts, etc., should be quickly restored. Mail launches and quits correctly.
You will need to start updating the Junk filter in Leopard from scratch as new junk mail shows up.

  • G3 BW to g4 upgrade confusion

I recently picked up a G3 and got it up and running with OSX 10.4. It is mostly for my kids. I would like to get a G4 processor for it, but I am very confused about exactly which G4 processors will work with it. Will any processor labeled G4 up to 1 ghz work in a G3? I see labels like Quicksilver and digital audio and I know they refer to the machine the processors were pulled from, but I have no idea if they would work in the G3. If anybody could point me to a list of exactly which processors I can use I would be very appreciative.
    Thanks!

What kind of G3 are you upgrading and what do you ultimately want to do with it? What are some of its other configurations (hard drive, RAM, etc.)? The reason I am asking is that several of the ZIF upgrades on OWC seem to run at least $150, maybe $100 used (nothing used for you there right now). You might be able to pick up a used G4 for about that much which would immediately upgrade everything like bus speed, etc. Especially if the used G3 is an older machine like a beige then I would definitely think about a used G4. Even if your G3 is all souped up with tons of RAM, hard drives, etc. you will still be limited by some aspects of its architecture.
Incidentally, I was patient and eventually found this used dual 800 Quicksilver (see. configs. below -- just added a second HD) for $200 locally. If I had done the same upgrades to my g3 beige it would have cost me at least $400 and I still would have been limited in some features that could only be changed by a complete computer change (e.g., native firewire and USB).

  • RE: Memory Upgrade Confusion and Second Hard Drive Recommendations ?

    Hi,
Afraid I'm a bit confused with what would compatible and what wouldn't and was hoping I might get some advice. I want to increase memory by about a GB on my Power Mac G5 (spec. copied below purchased UK early 2006). I understand that once you have the right cards (two installed in parallel) that its quite straight forward. I searched the apple site and the cheapest it gave me for my model for 1 Gb was:
    Apple Memory Module - 1GB DDR2 533MHz Non ECC - 2x512MB DIMMs
    at £140
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/91234046/wo/hn5g4hFDfgHw3aTb YlYSoSb9duX/3.0.28.9.5.9
Then Micro Ankiva quote this and I assume here I would need four of them to get the 1 GB. Also though not sure if this would be compatible ?
    Apple 256MB PC3200 DDR400 DIMM Desktop Memory 184Pin
    £25 x 4 so £100
    http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?PNO=MAC57117
Then finally I came across these guys at Mac:Upgrades offering this which again I assume I would need 2 of them (they said these are compatible but I'm dubious because they are so much cheaper?)
    Kingston DDR2 PC4200 DIMM - 512MB
    £17.11 x 2 so £cheap !!
    http://www.macupgrades.co.uk/store/productinfo.php?productsid=199
    Here is my spec.
    Machine Name: Power Mac G5
    Machine Model: PowerMac11,2
    CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.0)
    Number Of CPUs: 2
    CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
    Memory: 512 MB (2x 256 MB DDR2 SDRAM PC2-4200U-444 OK)
    Bus Speed: 1 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
    Serial Number: CK6100AVV5V
Any advice on this is hugely appreciated.
Finally while I'm here I figured I may as well ask for recommendations from people with regards reliable second internal hard drives. Ideally I'd like to go for 500GB - I currently have 160 GB. Would this be possible with what I have - I read (though not sure correctly) that maybe only 500 Gb in total is possible. Anyway any pointers on this too gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi MrJax
Couldn't find your machine via the serial number on apple support pages. Is it a DDR2 G5? 8 slots - max 16gig ram - PCI-X? If so its the same as mine and I'm just looking to upgrade my ram after having some shoddy old dimms die on me! Many thanks to the reseller that did me on that one!!!
RAM can be a real conundrum, clock speeds and CL's...very confusing. Keep an eye on my post as well as I'm researching what to install as well. Keep in mind whatever you have in there will affect the speed of new RAm you add, so adding faster RAM than what's already there its pretty pointless.
In the past I've always gone with Crucial RAM. I've installed it on several machines over the years and its always been very reliable.
I've just moved abroad and so can't buy Crucial here so will be going for Kingston this time round, just not sure which exact dimm type yet.
Kingston have a better warranty situation than Crucial (think crucial is a year) and from what I've heard, from people who should know, it's very good RAM. Both are really cheap and to be honest whichever you go for buy it from the manufacturer. Crucial deliver really fast, as i said I've always bought from them and never had an issue. Even one time when I thought the RAM was dodgy they sent me a replacement without any problem! Both Kingston and Crucial walk you through the Ram options on their websites, its very straight forward.
I'll keep you posted on how the Kingston RAM shapes up
As for HD's. My advice is to go for a Western Digital drive. If you're in the UK then hit ebuyer.com Great prices.
    Hope that helps.

  • Computer memory upgrade confusion

I am interested in adding memory. When I read the information on the Apple support page for upgrading memory it tells me that my G5, 1.8 mhz, dual processor machine should use memory that is "333mhz, pc2700". However, when I look at information in "about this mac" I find the two 256 meg memory sticks that are installed are listed as "256 mb DDR SDRAM pc 3200u-30330". Apple info says that the pc 3200 memory is only used in machines that have eight expansion slots and can hold 8 gigabytes of memory. My machine is only upgradable to four gigabytes. I really do not know what pc 2700 or pc3200 means. The current memory was ordered as an upgrade and installed at the factory.
My plan is to add two 512 meg memory sticks in the slots currently used by the 256 meg sticks and move the current memory sticks to the open slots.
I am confused about what type of memory I need to purchase.
Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerMac G5, 1.8mhz, dual processors   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   512 megs RAM

You don't need to move the existing RAM, they can stay happily where they are. Just add the two new RAM modules to the two remaining memory sockets.
As for the type of RAM, your dual 1.8 G5 needs RAM of the following type DDR SDRAM, pc2700. However the pc2700 is a reference to a speed rating of the RAM module. pc 3200 is the same type of RAM but can work with a faster memory bus. As a results, pc 3200 will work fine in your G5, though there will be no increase in performance, just because the memory can run faster, your G5 is still running at its rated bus speed.
Sometimes, it can be cheaper to put the faster rated RAM in. This is because more of the faster rated RAM is produced, driving down its cost, while less of the slower RAM is made, keeping its price steady or even goes up.
DDR SDRAM pc2700 or pc3200 should work fine.
