Emailing the report to external email -  Background job

HI
We are creating background job for running the report in background...but i want the output(report) to send an email in Excel format after the job run successfully...
Here the email is External email not SAP inbox..
Do you have any idea how to achieve this? any user-exit or even handling will help this?
Please let me know
Thanks
Govi

Iam not using custom program to send the email...I know about the FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1...to send email.
My requirement is to send email to user the report in Excel after the background job runs.
we will define the job in SM36 with variant for the report with program name and variant.
after the job runs the spool request will be created and we can also setup the output of the report to be sent to SAP inbox.
my question is to how to send the output of this report in Excel format to external email i.e. Gmail, yahoo etc...
I hope u r clear now...
Please let me know if you know the answer.
Thanks

I ran the report in Background and got the output in the spool. i opened the spool from the transaction SM37 and send the output to my external mail id via the following process
click Spool Request->forward-> send SAP data
here i am getting one POP up in there i gave my mail id and tick the check box on Express and click copy.
Now i received the output in my mail .
By doing the above process in the Quality server i am receiving the output in the mail as a PDF format that is correct.(Output is also correct).

  • Email the reports by filling selection variables

I have the following requirement.Could you please help me the with steps to complete it?.
I have few reports which needs to be emailed to the users at monthly once(letus say 2nd date of every month).I have a Fiscal year period variable in selection.Every month 2nd date the report should execute with previous period as selection and email the report to the users.
How this fiscal year period variable can be filled with previous period value by the system automatically everymonth?.
Using Broadcaster how we can fill the variable values automatically?.
Please help me with the steps.
    Thanks in advance..
    Regards
    Soujanya

    Soujanya
Instead of having variables that will prompt you for period values, use SAP or Customer Exit which will derive the Previous Period Values for you.
You may end up with a report people run on an ad hoc basis that allows them enter user entry variables and a copy where the only difference is that you use Customer Exits on time instead.

  • How to identify what are all the events are created in background jobs?

    Hi all,
how to identify what are all the events are created for  background jobs. And what events gets triggered for a particular job.
    thanxs
    haritha

    Hi Haritha,
JOB is a program which starts to a determined point of time and executes some standard programs in the system. JOBs can be planed to a determined point of time on the regular basis (every night, for example) or to some discret time moments. So, the JOB can be planed and then will be started automatically without the manual start.
Realtime programs are understood in the most cases as actual program execution which is started by somebody to the actual moment of time.
Typically per JOBs some special processes will be started that should be executed automatically and regularly: for example, IDOC application, some correction reports, statistic updates etc.
Standard jobs are those background jobs that should be run regularly in a production SAP System These jobs are usually jobs that clean up parts of the system, such as by deleting old spool requests.
    Use
As of Release 4.6C, the Job Definition transaction ( sm36 ) provides a list of important standard jobs, which you can schedule, monitor, and edit.
Standard jobs are those background jobs that should be run regularly in a production SAP System. These jobs are usually jobs that clean up parts of the system, such as by deleting old spool requests.
for more information you can go thru the following thread:

    About Events:
Events have meaning only in the background processing system. You can use events only to start background jobs.
Triggering an event notifies the background processing system that a named condition has been reached. The background processing system reacts by starting any jobs that were waiting for the event.
    Types of Events:
There are two types of events:
1.)System events are defined by SAP. These events are triggered automatically when such system changes as the activation of a new operation mode take place.
2.)User events are events that you define yourself. You must trigger these events yourself from ABAP or from external programs. You could, for example, signal the arrival of external data to be read into the SAP system by using an external program to trigger a background processing event. The event scheduler processes an event if the event is defined in the system.
For example, if a system (System 1) receives an event from another system (System 2), the event scheduler of System 1 processes the event only if it is defined in System 1. That event does not need to be defined in System 2 (the sending system).
You define an event by assigning a name (EVENTID) to it. When defining an event, you do not define the event arguments.
for more information you can go thru the following thread:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/fa/096e2a543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm
When you schedule the process chain or infopackages the jobs associated with it run in the background mode. In case you want to create a job for a specific activity you can do so in SM36. You would be creating jobs that would get executed in any one of the options:
    1. Immediate
    2. Date & Time
    3. After event.
    4. After job.
    5. At Operation mode.
In case you want to view the job logs go to sm37.
Also Pls check DB02 for database performance and ST03 for workload .
Analyse u will have an idea ,

  • Email not sent to external email id

    Hi All,
We have a particular user who is not receving the email notifications/ reminders to approve leaves on his lotus notes id.
Its only this particular user who is having this problem.
If i trace the workflow (leave sbmitted by his subordinates) the  sending notification task has completed status but in SOST there is no record of a mail sent.
Have checked SU01 the user has an email address maintained both in ESS and R/3.
As per config SO16 - home address is selected.
In the profile his external email id is selected as home address.
what should i check next to sort out the issue.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Swati,
Try to maintain an auto-forwarding email address for this user using transaction SO36 and check if that solves your problem.

  • Need to know how to find out the Variant associated with a background job

    Hello,
Plz help me in finding out how to find the variant associated with a background job. I need to know which variant does the program picks up when it runs the scheduled background job. There are so many variants that exist. How do I figure out which one is being picked up by the program. When I go and see into the job that are already finished it shows the parameter as "&00000000645354" which I do not understand what it corresponds to. I was expecting a variant name instead of this number in the parameter field. Is there a way I can find out the name of teh variant the program is using automatically in the background job ??
    Thanks in anticipation

Yes it is possible which is variant, input fields are choosen
    - go to SM37 and locate the background job which was processed using proper selection criteria
    - select the Job and click on 'Step' button availabe in the screen
    - the new screen is 'step list overview'. now, place the cursor on selected variant avaialble on the screen, then from Menu >> Goto>> variant
which gives the list of input values.
    hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Need to send the report output in email body.

    Hi Friends,
I need to send the report output in body of the email but not as an attachment.
Requesting your suggestions. Please elaborated answers are expected.
    Thanks & Regards,
    S.Suresh Babu.

If you are looking for same output to be available in the email body, i think this is not possible.
If you are just concentrated on the data, then you can do as below.
    1. In your custom program, submit the actual report program via spool and by making use of that spool, read the spool content (We have function modules which can download the content from spool to the internal table), and by making use of this internal table, build the actual internal table as required which will be passed to email function module lets say SO_OBJECT_SEND etc..
    2. You can make use of even LIST_TO_MEMORY and LIST_FROM_MEMORY function modules as well instead of spool, if you have data in the final internal table.
I am not sure, how can we handle in terms of logos if any.....or the data in the top of page related things......

  • How to debug the report which isrunning in Background?

    Hi all,
1.How to debug the report which is running in Background?
    thanks & regards
    vishnuvardhan

    Hello,
    Do like this.
Create an infinite loop before the line u want debug.
    data: lf_flag.
    do.
    if lf_flag = 'X'.
    exit.
    endif.
    enddo.
Now execute the report in background. In Tcode SM37 select ur job and in menu job--> Capture Active Job
IT will stop at the point of infinite loop.

  • Spool report line width in background jobs

    Hi All,
I wrote a report and specified the line size in the report header:
    REPORT /sappssrm/option_handler
    NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING
    LINE-SIZE 185.
I want to run this report as background job and get a spool list with results of the report. I expected the width of the spool output to be well defined and it works in one system. However, in another systen, the line / page width is much smaller, and the system inserts line breaks in the output splitting my lines into two which causes very ugly results.
It seems that the LINE-SIZE specified in the report header doesn't affect the output width in every system.
    Can anyone advice?
    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi Siggi,
thanks for your reply. Actually I changed that already yesterday...
But I found out what it was:
It seems, the background job keeps old versions of the program, even if you import a new program version. I created a new job with the same program and it worked.
    Thanks again and best regards
    Wolfgang
